L + ratio + you only consume media to interact with the fandom + no critical thinking + no understanding of the themes + you force characters into tropes they don't fit into + you only care about shipping

#I hate fandom I hate fandom #edit: I wanna explain this real quick bc I don't hate all fan content #making and consuming fan content can be fun #hell a lot of what I post could be considered fan content #what I'm criticizing is when a fan base becomes an echo chamberand the characters are so far removed from the source they're unrecognizable #and this almost always happens bc people want them to fit into some cute little box to ship them #while also ignoring or demonizing female and/or poc characters that supposedly get in the way #placing all of this emphasis on shipping ignores a lot of the the bigger (and often more intersting) themes #I like fan content when it expands on the source material #but at some point it becomes so separated from the source material that it loses any meaning in relation to it
