This wip is becoming very popular and I promise I am trying to work on it, but its been a little hectic lately so writing has slowed down a lot. I don't really outline perse, just make notes about the timeline, basic character background, and the final destination in general. My thought process is kind of chaotic and there's a reason I have degree in wildlife and not literacy. Anywho...here is another smidge of NFL Buck and Firefighter Eddie secret relationship.

Hen comes back to work two weeks after the earthquake, with a new dog at home, her body healed, and her curiosity towards Eddie Diaz ever growing.  All thanks to Chimney providing everyday updates on his quest to get to know their teammate from Texas. And he has learned only three things: Eddie has two younger sisters, likes his coffee black, and is a technophobe. Apparently, he freaked out a bit on a call with a house run by Hildy and now the firehouse has a fancy new coffee machine thanks to Eddie’s partner.  “Eddie’s girlfriend must make bank and be bored, because this thing cost half of my paycheck and she just sent it along as a joke?!” Chimney told Hen over the phone. “Who says he has a girlfriend? He keeps saying partner, no gender attached.” Hen points out. Chimney huffs, “A guy like Diaz has to be straight. Plus, he has a kid and an ex-wife.” “You really need to think outside the heteronormative box.” She chided and she could practically hear the eye roll from her best friend. Now Hen can’t stop preening and trying so hard not laugh too loud.  Chimney was proven completely wrong, as they watch two women approach Diaz after freeing their friend from a truck’s tail pipe. Numbers and snap chats were offered. First came the excuse of having a kid, countered by the brunette having her own kid, then came the nail in the coffin, “Sorry I have a boyfriend.” Their jaws dropped and Chimney audibly gasped from where he stood by Bobby’s side. Ravi didn’t look too surprised, but still a little stunned at the admission itself. Bobby kept his stoic self, only a twitch of a smile. “You dropped something.” Hen murmured to her best friend, and gently pushed his jaw closed. Just one more new tid bit of information of Eddie Diaz, and still she wanted to know more.

rewatching s2 of 911 and my god shannon and eddie scream comphet couple the way they didn‘t show up ONCE in the episode centered around love, the way shannon and eddie are only even seen together a handful of times and they‘re fighting in half of those, a constant tension present even in the more lighthearted scenes.

the way shannon asked for a divorce bc she says she‘s still learning to be a mother and maybe some day she‘ll learn to be a wife but not yet.

the way eddie had the same conflict of not knowing how to be a husband to her, the constant distance between them and the pressure that eddie feels to make it work.

the episode where the soldier is united w his daughter and eddie is smacked in the head w all the forced masculinity bullshit he did in an effort to be the man his environment wanted him to be (the army he acknowledges himself was an excuse) ending with eddie’s uncomfortable face at letting shannon back into chris’ life.

when at his core eddie is gentle, and he‘s funny and kind and goofy and emotional and vulnerable and affectionate and warm and so many things he wasn‘t allowed to be and i just love eddie diaz so much

There’s something about Eddie saying he’s a nester yet being completely incapable of doing such nesting with any of the women we’ve ever seen him with. Shannon was not only his wife, but Chris’ mother, and yet he didn’t feel ready to let her see their son once she came back… I’d even be willing to say he convinced himself into redoing his life with her because it made sense, and not because he was in love with her (again). Ana, however lovely she was, was also very clearly the product of Eddie putting Chris first. We see this when he has The Conversation with Buck: “Chris loves her”, “is that enough?” and soon we find out it isn’t. “We became a ready made family, and I’m not ready for that”. Finally we have Marisol, who he shoved inside his house only to kick out a few days later. But then… cut to Buck and Chris playing video games together, and doing some sort of scrapbook thing for Christmas, and visiting Santa, and going to the zoo. Cut to Buck picking Chris up from school, and being the first person Chris calls when Eddie breaks down (and goes to when he’s mad at his dad). Cut to homemade meals and difficult talks at any of their kitchens, and carrying each other physically and emotionally through the worse possible times. Cut to “there’s no one I trust with my son more than you,” and “this changes nothing between us.” Yeah,,, Eddie can’t nest with the women we’ve seen him with, because he already nested with Buck.
