i don't have a ton down for this fic yet lol but i got to thinking about tails learning about sonic's fear of water n stuff so i started a fic ✌️

Remembering there was a 4 year old fox kit on his tail proved to be a bigger challenge than Sonic had originally anticipated. Despite the constant whirring of his tails settling in with the other ambient noises of nearby critters, Sonic found he quite often forgot the kid was there. He was so quiet, which surprised the tween. He’s met a handful of kids 9n his travels and, as far as he was aware, they were all loud. Constantly playing and burning energy with made up games that didn’t make a lick of sense to onlookers. Sonic first worried that something had happened to the fox’s voice somehow when he stopped talking. The kid tended to talk quite a bit when they first started traveling together, but within the first week he dropped it all as if he was never able to speak. The hedgehog let the worries die out eventually. The kit seemed happy and content without talking, so who was he to tell him that was wrong? After all, he never spoke himself. Granted, it wasn’t necessarily a choice of his, but still. He was the kid’s role model now, so he really shouldn’t be too surprised the kit caught on to it.

Preteen!Ghost: Where the hell is Dad? I haven’t seen him all day!

Nik: Sorry, I got hungry

Preteen!Ghost: … what?

Nik: I’ll get you a new one *leaves the room*

Preteen!Ghost: NIK?!

(Ten minutes later)

Preteen!Ghost: I THINK NIK ATE DAD

Preteen!Gaz: *looks up from his book*

Preteen!Gaz: What-?

Preteen!Ghost, crying: HE ATE HIM

(Three hours later)

Price, walking through the front door: I’m home-

Preteen!Ghost & Preteen!Gaz: *run through the house and tackle him in a hug while crying*

Price holding them: Whoa- what’s wrong?!

Nik, cautiously from the hall: I’m so sorry

Price as the boys start screaming: WHAT DID YOU DO??

reid: hold on! i'm having one of those things... a headache with pictures.

emily: what the fuck?

morgan: he's having an idea.

“Paul then got a bug about tadpoles. “Is it possible to make a pond, Dad?” he asked one day.

“What for, son?” asked Dad.

“To raise tadpoles,” replied Paul.

Dad was always very good at trying to supply anything we wanted – particularly if he thought it would be of an informative or educative nature. A few days later he dug a big hole in the back garden and sank a beer barrel in the space. Then he left us to fill it with water.

Paul got a lot of frog-spawn from somewhere and dumped all this into the barrel. For weeks he lived for nothing else but that spawn. The moment he came home from school, he’d be out into the garden, stuffing his face down into that spawn to see how it was getting on.

“They’re getting tails!” he’d yell at me and then I’d go and look at the messy stuff. I couldn’t understand what was exciting him.

“Look, there’s one with a body!” he’d point. All I could see was stuff that looked like a whole lot of dirty marmalade.

Then one day he ran into the house yelling blue murder.

“They’re getting away!” he was shouting. “They’re running off into the fields!”

Mum and I ran out and there was a horde of frogs jumping and leaping about all over the place. We managed to grab one or two and hold on to them for a moment or so but the minute we set them down again, off they went, into the bushes and hedges. In a very short time, Paul’s pond was completely empty! You should have seen his face! It would have made you laugh and cry at the same time. He had never counted on his spawn turning into real live frogs – neither had the frogs!”
