Ever heard of the five-toed worm lizard (Bipes biporus)? This burrowing critter isn’t a snake: It’s a member of a group called amphisbaenians, which include mostly legless reptiles. Growing about 8.3 in (21.1 cm) long, this species is an ectotherm, which means its body temperature depends on its immediate environment. Using its tiny clawed digits to dig underground, it tends to hang out closer to the surface during the early hours of the day, then burrows deeper below the Earth as the Sun peaks. It can be found in Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula.

Things look blurry because of the way the light entering your eye hits the back of your eyeball . If the curvature of your eye or the length of the eye isn’t exactly right, the images can be out of focus. Glasses help correct that so that the images are sharp.
Your eyesight can change over the course of your lifetime, so if you don’t have glasses now, you might someday! Or you might need a different prescription as you get older. And some people who have glasses as kids don’t always need them as adults.
*Don't forget to check out Zeelool for your next pair of frames! Use code BSJ to get 15% off already reduced glasses!!! 🤓 (see my profile pic for style Krystle )
Do you wear prescription glasses?

Chemistry behind Black Pepper?!
Tumblr media
Originating in South Asia, Black Pepper, or Kali Mirch, hails from the Piper Nigrum vine. The 5mm red peppercorns, with a single seed, have a history dating back 3000 years. From ancient Egypt to Greece, this spice's journey remains fascinating. With Piperine giving it a distinct spicy flavor, pepper not only adds zest to dishes but also boasts health benefits.

Okay, let’s pull up to the after party with the capybara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris)! Weighing up to 174 lbs (79 kg), this critter is the world’s largest rodent. Thanks to an abundance of fatty tissue, the capybara is buoyant in water—making it perfectly suited for a semi-aquatic lifestyle. The capybara inhabits wetlands in regions of South America including Venezuela and Brazil. This highly social species can sometimes be spotted in groups of more than 100 individuals.

Important #PSA for those who may be sharing medieval owl memes for #Superb_Owl Sunday as these owls (especially #1) often show up in them, and unfortunately there are unfunny reasons why they look the way it do. :/
#DYK that some medieval bestiary owls carry antisemitic context that may not be obvious to the casual modern viewer? Sadly, these nocturnal owls were used to symbolize Jews living in darkness and rejecting the light of Christ.
Features to watch for include: anthropomorphized faces with beaks made to resemble hooked noses; owl "horns" drawn like devil horns (and the horned hats some Jews had to wear); and "mobbing" by other birds (a real-life behavior, but also used to symbolize attacking a sinner).

since reading dyk for the first time i have since had my first baby by c section. and going back to read it after was crazy hahaha. i've read worse in fic though 😆
oh i missed this
i actually put very little thought into how i would portray that scene lmao. partly because i didn't really know at the time, but i think mostly i was just being lazy. somebody had insisted to me that people would notice and think it was odd if i just skipped over it. so i just slapped together something i knew would be inaccurate but would basically meet the requirements that person had set for me lmao. i just threw him into the back of a vet's office to treat him like a dog having puppies or something lmao. maybe i thought it would be funnier that way.
by second kid though i was like, "and so, it was time to have the kid. so he did that. the next day, he etc" or something lmao
hope it wasn't too cringe for you! and congrats on the reproduction
