Funimation's DVD menus for Trigun: Badlands Rumble are a sin against both graphic design and user interface design. Good luck finding the actual menu options!!!
but I listen to the saddest music ever created on the face of the earth, the most gut wrenching, hair tearing, ugly crying music created by the saddest people to walk the face of this planet
but I listen to this stuff with a straight face like “light work.” like no,, I wish I could cry in a corner and sob to moon song but I can’t I’m too busy vibing.
and I recognize that it’s really sad and I listen to the lyrics but I’m dancing round my bedroom listening to my punisher vinyl and singing “you couldn’t have stuck your tongue down the throat of somebody who loves you more” like 🤗🤗
“but you know I’d stand on the corner embarrassed with a picket sign if it meant I could see you when I die” 💃💃
still haven't figured out how to actually record video of DVD menus but I realized I can at least make gifs of them! here's Trigun Remix Disc 6, all 6 discs have the same general design/transitions except for the main menu "WANTED" poster on the left matching the DVD cover art for that particular disc. Main menu is the only animated menu screen with the shadow flicker on the edge and poster edge fluttering in the breeze. It also plays a portion of "Never Could Have Been Worse" from the show OST with some quiet wind sound effects. When it first loads, there is a gunshot sound effect as it appears. The transition screens use what sounds like a portion of "Perfect Night" but I am not sure.
All the gifs are under the readmore since seeing the menu transitions on a loop was honestly starting to make me feel a little vertigo and with the slight flicker on the main menu, I'm worried about exposing them to unsuspecting people who may be sensitive to these kinds of gifs/imagery. The effect on the actual DVD playback isn't so severe, though, as the transitions do not loop.
I'm not sure if the DVD selection cursor appearing during the transition animation is a bug with VLC (i have seen LOTS of DVD menu bugs with VLC) or happens on actual DVD players, I'll check on my PS3 later.
UPDATE tried it on the PS3, cursor disappeared during transition. indeed a VLC bug
