This is the second page in my manga about my dnd adventures with my friends and boy oh boy did I get distracted near the end and hyper-focus on the last panels.
Due to me being a beginner and never having done this before I’m not going to ruin my brain trying to do line-work for everything but I do plan on revisiting things to clean it up once I’ve finished all the pages.
Overall I’m very proud with how it’s turning out and im excited to get to the action shots !!!
I’ve started thinking of campaign planning as a set of mini-adventures that can all be strung together in any order, each affected slightly by the outcomes of the other, each including hooks for each of the other ones, until the players pick a path, as opposed to an entire world and overarching story where I have to prep for every possibility and know what’s going on everywhere at all times and uh. It’s helped.
To get you ready for Wednesday's intense new episode of Demons & Daughters, our kindly DM Lyndon Rufus Winters will be streaming live on Twitch, painting some intruiging new minis and answering any questions you want to ask!
To tune in, head to Twitch on Tues 6th Feb at our usual time 7pm UTC+1.
ttrpg followers & tag scrollers, what’s the best way to get a newbie player familiar with d&d 5e (besides sitting them down & having them play it)? anyone have any good resources for newbie players?
ya bitch has four hours to make two(?) maps because they are a HORRIBLE procrastinator (and may or may not have been panicking over the fact that they may not have taken notes on where things actually are direction-wise but shhh we can deal with that later)
no one asked but here's some profiles of the dnd pcs i've played so far
malikas (tabaxi ・ bard, college of lore ・ he/him)
a quirky traveler from a faraway trading village. he feels bad for leaving his family for so long, and won't go home until he feels like he has good enough of a story to tell them to justify why he up and disappeared. loves all things to do with history, and wanted to explore the world. may have some sticky fingers.
masquerading during as a doting courtesan, dorian is one of this woman's many masks. beneath the poet's blouse and frilled skirts hides two pistols, one carved with laranlas ("regal lady") and the other with savalir ("murderer"). she has a vendetta to settle, and a debt she intends to cash in.
tulsi foct (goblin ・ bard, college of swords ・ she/her)
the least popular member of an all-bard troupe thanks to her awkwardnes, tulsi is attending an elite school for spellcasters. not by her own skill, of course, but by her father's reputation that precedes her. before his passing, he imparted his last wish on her: do what he never could. struggling to follow in his footsteps to become an accomplished bard, tulsi finds more prowess in her way with swords than her way with words. her catchphrase: "get foct!" oh yeah, and she also befriended a baby beholder on accident. oops. she named it wiggles.
once a researcher for the galeian society, mog has recently brandished the occupation navigator! despite their superiors advising against traveling into the astral sea and other planes to understand the origins of time and how it works, they ventured out equipped with very little spells to protect themself. now, they're serving as the spelljammer and cartographer on the ship of a drunkard.
It's been a while since we've gotten the chance to play together. Still, I need to start scratching together a short campaign for whenever we're able to once again battle beasts and burdens.
This is the first post of this new campaign, which I'm planning to run over a 2 or 3 1-hour-long sessions. The players have busy lives, so we unfortunately can never play long... but here's the story so far and possible stuff to think over.
As always this will be a messy stew of ideas that may or may not be refined and re-defined over the coming days.
Thanks for your patience, and if you find this with an unfinished ending I do apologize. Anyways let's get to it.
General Overview and Outline:
"You have been invited to a funeral of a former great king Morvak, leader of the island of Cretaros. The large island is lush with life, known for it's warm climate, exports of wine, and uniquely less-human population*. It is considered a haven for many who would otherwise be judged in the larger world.
You somehow know Morvak's son Momuk, who was the one to send out invitations. Whether a childhood friend or an ex-lover (I won't judge) - or perhaps an old ally of Morvak's - you have secured an invitation to the festival of remembrance being held in the king's honor.
However, details of the king's death are few and as you make a steady approach aboard a ship bound for Cretaros you can't help but feel a creeping feeling of unease. One thing anyone would know of Morvak was that he was a champion, a warrior and the idea that a simple death awaited him can not sit right with you.
*(think 30% humans, the rest are creatures like minotaurs, satyrs, maybe even throw in some npcs of more peculiar lineages like harpies or medusa's if you're down with that)
Notes Before starting:
Momuk was the Minotaur from the Prison Break one-shot I posted forever ago - I did this so my players would have an easy-in for how they know him. I can make him a page/synopsis to attach here at some point if anyone wants.
This is - clearly - a Greek style setting, but feel free to fuse it up with whatever vibe. Story-wise I don't think it will concave if the setting is a western instead of something.
Players Don't need to be invited to the funeral - at least not for how I'm running it. Maybe your knight or bard just wanted to pay their respects but don't know anyone, or perhaps your rogue or cleric know a bit more of what's going on than they're lead everyone to believe. That can definitely lead to some interesting storytelling.
Anyway thanks for sticking with me, I will update this as I come up with ideas. Next post for it will either be Momuk's info page or Session 1 notes and ideas.
