Height chart/further designs of the crew (PCs + some NPCs) of our pathfinder campaign in the Eclipse! I wanted to get an actual answer from the other players as to the heights of everyone because I defaulted to drawing Juno short like a disney anthro when actually they're huge.
Kjosev and Tereza look short. They aren't. Kjosev is 5'11"/1.8m, and Tereza is 5'8"/1.73m. Everyone else is just fuckin' huge.
Anyway ramblings about these people below the cut because they've been developed a bit more.
(Note: I'll refer to "the eclipse" a lot here. The Eclipse is a catastrophe in our homebrew world that lasted for roughly a year, where the sun and moon just vanished from the sky entirely. It was effectively an apocalypse, as crops and animals all died off, the world froze over, and societies broke down. This group is trying to live through that).
Characters from left to right, bottom to top:
Calim (Male Elunin Sorcerer, 6'2"/1.88m) - An elunin born blind, Calim was never treated like an adult among his clan due to his disability. He wasn't treated cruelly, but nobody expected anything of him. He left to try to find somewhere he could be treated as an equal, wandering the world before he got caught up in the eclipse.
Tereza (Female Human Commoner/Historian, 5'8"/1.73m) - A 36 year old bog-standard human from the northern kingdom. She worked in a great library as its director, in a happy, well-off life with her husband Florian and her daughter Florette. She was picking up special glasses for her daughter when the eclipse hit, in an entirely separate country from her own. Kjosev took a liking to her and the group has effectively adopted her, trying to take her back to her city to reunite her with her husband.
Florette (Female Human Child/Magical Princess, 3'5"/1.04m) - Tereza's rambunctious 5 year old, who loves trains and boats and thinks magic is boring. She was with her mom in the south when the eclipse hit. She was going to start school next year. She likes Kjosev, carrying around a talisman he gave her that she calls 'Kjosev Jr.'
Kjosev (Male Dusk Elf Druid, 5'11"/1.8m) - Former oracle of his kingdom, political prisoner/torture victim and then forest guardian, Kjosev's... been through some stuff. Outside of that one nasty multi-year incident in which he was imprisoned/tortured in the north (the same city Tereza is from, ironically), he's never left his woods, his life spent mostly isolated. He left to try to warn people about a premonition he had involving 'a great darkness.' He failed. His goal now is to protect Tereza and her daughter, and get them safely to their home -- even if the city left him traumatized.
Vartok (Male Gnoll Monk, 7'/2.13m) - An exiled gnoll, Vartok befriended a gnome at some point in his life. When he lost his arm, the gnome crafted him a new one, giving him a prosthetic. Vartok tries to help his former clan, even if they've rejected him outright, but still seeks a new one... which is how the party came onto him. He's effectively adopted them as his new clan. Florette is terrified of him.
Genrik (Male Dusk Elf Witch, 6'3"/1.91m) - A former teacher at the academy before the dusk elves were effectively destroyed, Genrik is what can best be described as... well, a dusk elf supremacist. He loathes humans and believes one day his people's kingdom will rise again. It won't. It doesn't stop him from repeating it, though. As he's an older dusk elf he suffers a madness that his people are often plagued by, his taking the form of losing all of his memories. He creates potions to store what he can before he forgets everything close to him, including the birth of his own daughter.
(Genrik's player has written down all of his stored memories, and if he ever falls or suffers from a bad critical, he wants there to be a roll to see what memory gets lost permanently as the potion shatters).
Juno (Genderless Elunin Warrior/Knight, 6'4"/1.93m) - Elunin are granted the option to choose their gender in a sort of coming-of-age ceremony, and Juno simply... never chose theirs. Not much else is known about them. They've lived for quite some time in civilized society -- an oddity for creatures that live primarily in the feywild -- working as a member of the Night Watch. They're effectively a rabbit batman cop. They got tied up in the party when the group may or may not have been responsible for setting a slaver's compound on fire.
Imrae (Female Drow Thaumaturge, 5'4"/1.63m) - She hasn't been introduced yet, so there's not AS much information to her, but my DM requested her be drawn anyway. All we know is that she's a drow lady who likes mysteries and is based off of Piper from FO4. I also insisted she get a big hat. Because big hat.

so i wanted to make my own post that's based off of this post (link to my archived blog) this post was another one of those, "What should you put in your Grimoire" type of deals.
I want to make my own bc i've used this list and added to it. @the-owl-guy wrote the first post so go give them some love if you happen to see this post, as this is based off the post they wrote and still contains some items from the original post. (hope you dont mind the tag!! Just wanting to give credit!)
One thing I will start off with, if you're going to make a grimoire or book of shadows, I would recommend 1000% to put it in a binder or in a journal where the pages can be removed, rearranged, and placed in an order how you like them. This way also if you mess up on a page, you can just remove it without having to razor cut a page out of a bound journal. they make really pretty a5 journals with binders in them and refillable pages. (mine is a royal purple with gold embezzlement to make it look like a fancy book)

Fungal Pilgrim (Druid Archetype)

Ah, fungus, an often misunderstood and strangely wondrous and fascinating form of life. They can grow miles across underground with their mycelia network, yet most individuals assume that the reproductive bits that sprout up from the ground are the main body of the organism and not a fractionally small part of a bigger whole we never see.
Indeed, there is much about fungus that even in this day and age we do not know. There’s plenty of evidence that many fungi are at least somewhat aware of their environment, and many mycelia networks appear to be functionally immortal.
It’s no surprise then, that in a fantasy setting there would be those that view fungi as the ultimate life form, and seek to become more fungus-like.
As their name suggests, these fungal pilgrims are on a quest, though not one to any specific location, but they have a destination in mind: apotheosis into a fungal being. Some might be devotees of fungal deities good or evil, some may see it as a form of immortality, and some may simply think of fungus as a superior form of life. Either way, it’s not surprising that a class that has themes of transformation and becoming one with nature would have an archetype like this. However, this archetype replaces the wild shape that we are used to with a different, more permanent form of transformation.
The abilities of this archetype vary slightly based on whether they choose a bond with a companion or a domain.
If they choose domain, it must be the plant domain. Additionally, they can infuse fungal power into their summonings a few times per day. Whenever they summon a single creature, they also summon a second creature from the next highest summon list made of fungal matter, which has it’s advantages and disadvantages.
Alternatively, if they choose to take a companion, their companion slowly is infected by the transformation that these pilgrims seek, becoming a fungal creature that slowly gains the special abilities and attacks associated with such creatures like toxic blood or clouds of poisonous spores. The most powerful of these companions can even create fungal spawn from the bodies of slain foes, though these only last a few days before rotting away.
Close to the zenith of their power, these druids also transform into true fungal creatures, gaining the advantages therein.
Interested in a character other than a sorcerer or oracle that has a sort of late-game apotheosis? This archetype may be for you. The archetype makes major improvements to either summoning or the animal companion at the cost of wild shape, so either way you’ll likely want to take a more supportive role, though you yourself and your companion will prove especially tough in your own right as well.
This archetype can either be weird but otherwise just another way to seek perfection, or it might be insidious and horrifying. After all, is the character transforming into a fungus or being overwritten and replaced, and is there a difference. Also you can have a lot of fun describing their abilities, such as secondary summons tearing their way out of giant puffballs that spontaneously grow during the casting, or the foul, rotting form of your fungal companion.
The battle for the world of Makis is lost, the heroes are dead, and the planet (and all others in the same material plane) is being stripped of it’s resources and luxuries by a multiversal tyrant for their unchecked hedonism. However, hope remains in an unlikely place, for the Enclaves Below, where reclusive druids become one with the world’s mycelia network, ready for one last counterattack.
Recently, samsarans have come up missing from their communities, accompanied by a growing sense of dread among their kin. Those that suspect kidnapping are correct, for a cabal of fungal druids have been overtaken by a mutant fungal network that seeks to find a way to achieve immortality beyond even it’s perpetual existence, seeing the perpetually reincarnating souls of these beings as a possible answer.
The Millenium War left more scars on the land than just muddy battlefields and wastelands, for many weapons technological and magical were developed and deployed during that era. Now, one of those weapons, a living fungal disease, seeks to perpetuate the war, infesting fleshcrafted warbeasts and animated tanks for form an army of monsters. What’s more, some druids have begun worshipping the fungal mass, inviting it into their bodies.

I've discussed the four existing subclasses for the Oracle class (the Astrologer, Battlemind, Doomseer, and Soothsayer) but I also have two more that are still in the ideas phase.
The Flamegazer divines the future through fire, smoke, and ash. My main concern with this subclass is that I think it would be antithetical to the design goals of the Oracle to make it too much of a blaster. Obviously there will be some features that allow you to deal fire damage, but I don't want you slinging fireballs because that just isn't the role of the class. I'm more interested in abilities themed around ash and smoke, but that's a challenging design space in some ways.
The Woodspeaker is a primal Oracle that overlaps with druids and rangers in some way. One of their core features will be a familiar that they can see through easier than most. Lots of abilities to talk to animals and vegetation, and to get information from nature. I want to make sure it feels distinct enough from the druid to exist on its own, while still delivering on what you'd expect from a nature-themed Oracle.
Like the rest of the Oracle class, these subclasses have some ideas that I'm really excited to bring to life, and I'm having a lot of fun stretching some of the design muscles I've worked up over the last few years to get them to work.

okay, so I know it's been half a year, but back in September I participated in the Swordtember drawing challenge, and I figured I'd post my swords here!

descriptions of each sword under the cut!
I. Witch: This sword actually only a hilt and a crossguard with an enchanted jewel attached to it. The blade of the sword is created by the witch channeling their magic through the gemstone.
II. Wizard: A regular steel sword, enchanted by light magic using the blue gemstone.
III. Rogue: This is a simple dagger that fits into a sheath in the rogue's boot. The loop makes it easier to pull out of your shoe.
IV. Dragon Slayer: This sword has slightly curved crossguard to account for the curve of the body of the dragons he fights. The spikes on the sword are the horns of the dragons he's slayed.
V. Spymaster: This sword extends out like a deadlier form of a plastic lightsaber. The canister it exists in contains a memory-loss spray, which partly serves to camouflage the sword among his spy-equipment.
VI. Knight Errant This flashy sword has inlaid gems and bright red feathers, to attract the attention of the damsels in distress he's out to save!
VII. Oracle: Nothing fancy, just. sword.
VIII. Jester: a simple dagger, small enough to fit with all his comical props.
IX. Royal Hunt Leader: This sword is more ceremonious than practical. It's decorative and used to signify the start of a hunt
X. Healer: This sword is enchanted with healing magic and made out of a healing tree
XI. Queen's: This sword has a fancy handle and has gems!
King:: This one matches the queen sword. If you put them next to each other, it makes a heart shape
XIII. Royal Heir: This sword is lowkey based on princess peach.
XIV: Royal Guard: Nothing too fancy!
XV. Enchanter: has a magic orb in the back!
XVI: Water Spirit: Has a blue gem and water enchantment
XVII. Forest Spirit: Has a green gem and forest enchantment, and is made of an enchanted tree.
XVIII. Bard: It's just really extra!
XIX. Alchemist: Has chambers in the back to include alchemical potions that enchant the sword.
XX. Summoner: To use this sword, just hold it in the air and say "[animal,] I choose you!"
XXI. Mermaid: This sword is enchanted so it doesn't rust, and the hilt is made of a shell. The pearls in the blade help enchant it!
XXII. Vampire: The vampire's blade is enchanted with a black magic that automatically cauterizes the wound- so that none of the precious blood is wasted, and its smell doesn't distract the vampire mid-fight.
XXIII. Vampire Hunter: The blade is made of pure silver. The hilt is a cross that's also a wooden stake.
XXIV. Barbarian: A wooden sword with spikes that doubles as a club!
XXV. Inquisitor: Just a regular sword- ¡Apuesto a que no esperabas eso!
XXVI. Artificer: The hilt has an interchangable tool- currently it has a magnifying glass attachment. The hilt also contains a secret chamber.
XXVII. Assassin: This blade is small but deadly and menacing!
XXVIII. Druid: This large sword contains a series of magic blue gems.
XXIX: Paladin sword: This sword isn't anything out of the ordinary, but it's made of some of the nicest materials.
XXX: Necromancer: This is an enchanted, two-handed sword!

I decided to investigate this “Blackbird Oracle”!
The Blackbirds have been singing their spring songs for the last few days and they have inspired me. So here is what the Druid animal oracle has to say about them.
Blackbird.
Druid Dhubh.
Enchantment, The Gateway, The Inner call.
The card shows a blackbird sitting on a rowan tree. It is twilight and the first stars are appearing in the sky. In the background we see the entrance to an enchanted cave. Druid Dhubh is the bird of both the gateway and the forge.
Druid Dhubh calls to us from the gateway between two worlds, urging us to follow a spiritual path or to become more self aware. He calls to us in the twilight, showing us the path to otherworldly secrets, pointing out the ways in which we can discover more about our hidden motivations and potential. There are times in life when it is important to concentrate on the outer world and you responsibilities in that world, but there are also times when you must attend to the haunting song of your soul which calls you to a study of spiritual truths, and to an exploration of the inner world through dreams and myths. In heeding Druid Dhubh’s song, you will discover healing and new depths in your soul.
The Tradition of the Blackbird.
One of the Gaelic names for the blackbird, Druid Dhubh, means the Black Druid. Druid Dhubh is a bird which sings beautifully and melodiously at twilight, and even later. Twilight is the shimmering time, a time of transition between one reality and the next. Such in-between times are considered especially significant in the Druid tradition. The blackbird sings to us as the world changes around us, as the time of daylight and consciousness and the concrete world gives way to the moon-time of the unconscious, of the otherworld. His song reminds us that these gateway times are ones of great beauty and potential.
If we are to follow Druid Dhubh’s song we will be led to a place of depth and enchantment from which we may uncover secrets about ourselves and the world.

Pathfinder's Forgotten Gods: Lady Taramyth, the Singing Flame
Last week we covered Uskyeria, the Saintly Slumberer, an Empyreal Lord with a bit of info that was focused on the protection of animals and dreams, so this week I updated another Empyreal Lord, this time the vulpinal, Lady Taramyth. In Pathfinder 1e we know Lady Taramyth is a vulpinal agathion Empyreal Lord who has a demiplane named the River of Nine Fires... and that's it! She was pretty much just mentioned in passing in Chronicles of the Righteous. So, let's see how we can take that and make something more!

So, what became of Lady Taramyth with this conversion? I decided to take the Singing Flame aspect and with some inspiration from a friend, casted her as a patron of campfire songs and operatic singers. I decided to combine this by aiming for a rising star story. Lady Taramyth was just a simple vulpinal who taught others song around campfire and sang tunes as she traveled Nirvana until she sang a song so beautiful while in Shelyn's realm of Bloomeadow that Shelyn essentially "sponsored" her to rise to full divinity as an Empyreal Lord.
This is where we took the one thing we know about Lady Taramyth: she has a demiplane named the River of Nine Fires. Here I expanded on this by essentially making it an opera house, one where Lady Taramyth hosts an operatic play called the Ballad of Flaming Virtue performed by the celestial realm's best performers, including herself! She then invites upcoming artists and others who've earned her favor to inspire in a magical dream-like viewing of the ballad.
Despite this, she still visits the Material Plane regularly between the yearly performance and watches over campers who gave her her start. Making her the patron of campfire song and campfires in general! If you ever see a fiery red fox or a dashing kitsune woman with a sword cane in hand, perhaps Lady Taramyth has decided to pay you a visit.

Lady Taramyth makes for a great deity choice for Bards (especially as a Maestro muse), but also Flame Order Druids, Rangers, Flames Mystery Oracles, or for entertainers and Kitsune in general. Clerics and Champions of Lady Taramyth are likely performers themselves and wear opera dresses and suits when not donned in armor, though they're certainly all aspiring vocalists and can be found anywhere singers are in demand. Followers of Lady Taramyth often choose the Celebrity or Dandy archetypes, each allowing them to impress crowds or get to the main event where they'll always shine. Folklorist is also a popular choice for those inclined to tell cultural stories with song. Lastly, the Bard multiclass archetype isn't uncommon among them, though they almost always specialize in vocal performances with instrumentation mixed in with a preference towards those that can make use of their powerful lungs.
Next week we'll likely continue our conversion of other agathion Empyreal Lords like Lady Taramyth and Uskyeria. Until then, may the Singing Flame inspire you too!

Giant, Savannah

[The “strider” of Advanced Fighting Fantasy is big enough to be a giant, and grassland environments are pretty giant free. Which on the one hand might make sense because of cover purposes, but on the other hand tundra and deserts get their own giant species. So this felt like a niche that, even if it didn’t need to be filled, could be filled without feeling too weird. The flavor text in Beyond the Pit puts them in savannahs, but this art is clearly set in a cave. Maybe it’s hanging out around Sterkfontain? ]
Giant, Savannah CR 9 LE Humanoid (giant) This strange humanoid has a head and torso proportional to that of a human, but arms and legs twice the usual length. They have dark skin and pale hair and are skeletally thin. They wear nothing but a loincloth and jewelry, but carry a double-bladed polearm.
Savannah giants have unusual proportions by the standards of giant-kind, as they are gangly and very thin. This belies their strength and dexterity, however; savannah giants are much more agile than many other types of giant. They train in fighting with double weapons instead of rocks or clubs, and the two bladed sword is a signature weapon in most savannah giant cultures. A savannah giant is not considered an adult until they have demonstrated skill with a double weapon.
Savannah giants are hunters and trackers, ranging far from their settlements in search of prey. Although they occasionally domesticate animals strong enough to carry them and their gear, such as elephants or other huge herbivores, they typically fight on foot. They keep trophies, making amulets out of bone, hide, hair and horn. These trophies can be imbued with magical power, granting their wearer the durability, reflexes or willpower they need for the day.
Most savannah giants are pitiless and mean-spirited, and they happily hire themselves out as mercenaries or assassins. Savannah giants are patriarchal, with males hunting and females caring for children and making items—savannah giant women are still dangerous, but focus on defense of their homes rather than ranging far. Magic is valued in savannah giant society, and the undead are viewed with utmost horror. Most savannah giant spellcasters are druids, oracles or occultists.

i looooove talking about decks!! here are two of my favorite oracle decks that i feel like anyone can vibe with

first up, the woodland wardens oracle! this is my second time owning this deck because i originally got rid of my first copy but then i realized i made a mistake so second time is the charm lol. this deck pairs animals with plants and it has upright AND reversed meanings for each card!! i love when oracle decks have reversed meanings for some reason idk i’m weird,, but this deck has it all! beautiful art, impactful meanings that aren’t too intimidating for beginners but also allows you to use your intuition, whats not to love about it?

then we have the angels and ancestors deck! this one is a fairly recent addition to my collection but i love her like i’ve known her my whole life. this deck breaks the cards down into different categories - we have the sacred ones which includes cards like the druid, the knight, the high priestess, and more! then we have the guardians and messengers which has cards like guardian angel, water guardian, animal guardian. then we have warrior symbols which includes an arrow, broken arrow, the moon, mountains. and finally we have the season cards! all of these cards in one deck gives so much variety to my daily card pulls and for readings in general.

My thoughts on tarot/oracle card decks....
Having looked at several tarot card decks online (and having bought a few), I've decided that I don't like tarot decks where the numbered minor arcana are repetitive in regards to their images. I bought the new LOTR tarot that was published earlier this year and discovered that the minor arcana cards were very repetitive with their art. One of the reasons why I collect tarot and oracle cards is for the artwork and if the cards aren't unique I don't feel connected to them. I suppose that I was lucky in the past in that the Viking and Hobbit deck I bought weren't like that - the Viking deck was particularly good because the cards show scenes from the myths so they are a useful tool in learning them. In contrast, I find that I prefer oracle decks because the art is more likely to be unique on each card. I am drawn to nature/animal themed ones though, BUT I prefer ones that are centered around European pagan cultures like Druid/Celtic ones, rather than the ones which seem to steal from Native Americans, or ones which feature animals that I am very much connected to. Although I love all animals, I only feel connected to those which share my environment, or which are more likely to share my environment. Sadly, there seems to be a lot of cultural appropriation with some decks.
