To me, everything Wrathion does screams that he is still a kid. All of it. And I feel like someone needs to let him be a kid. I feel like Sabellian needs to set him in time out and say, “Enough. Go have a strudel and calm down.” 

It’s not fair that Wrathion was so lonely, that he had to surround himself with mortals and struggle to be seen beyond his father’s shadow. It must sting to see a whole flight of black dragons show up after being alone for so long, to see they found their way from their corruption, when he assumed all were lost. There must be a little part of him realizing that the tasks he’s had his mortals do to wipe out other black dragons may not have been the best choice of action.

After all, he’s a kid on his own, and he has struggled to do what is right. He’s messed up spectacularly, but I just really want to give him some hot chocolate, a blanket, and some gingerbread men he can snap the heads off with his teeth.

The final words from Wrathion and Sabellian do the best possible job at wrapping up black dragon things in dragonflight in just a few paragraphs after the mess (and I do mean mess) that was Embers of Neltharion.

First of all Sabellian approaching him like “so ebyssian told me…” it’s such a tiny thing but I appreciate that they wanted to acknowledge ebyssian and his close relationship with BOTH his brothers. Like he is still the go between. You could read into this a lot and say Wrathion told Ebyssian because he had to since Ebyssian is his aspect but my gut reaction is he told him because of their close bond. This is the best option for Ebyssian at this point cause if you had him walk up to wrathion himself and talk about their brotherly relationship I probably would have rolled my eyes after 10.1. But the idea it’s a bond that exists off screen works for me in this case.

Also healing from 10.1 moment when Wrathion talks about WHY he wanted to be Aspect. I think this works nicely cause maybe there are some thoughts there he only realized after the fact. And him ending DF with this certainty gained about who he is is just really really nice.

And finally literally the MVP of the entire expansion my man Sabellian is great here and his line about ‘when you do come back I hope it does feel like a homecoming’ is literally reverberating throughout my brain on a constant loop. 10/10. Dragonflight best expansion.
