Mega Man Dr Wily's Revenge Back Cover to AI Art
Older video games were notorious for back cover descriptions that have nothing to do with the game so let's see what a text-to-image generator makes of these descriptions.
Some descriptions have had to be cut down slightly due to text length limits but the overall sentence structure has been maintained as much as possible.
Mega Man Dr. Wily's Revenge is a part of Capcom's Mega Man series of arcade platformers and is the fifth entry in the Mega Man series. Dr Wily's Revenge released on the Game Boy in 1991, this spin off of the Mega Man series was developed by Minakuchi Engineering.

One of my FAVOURITE things about Archie Mega Man is the nuanced and fleshed out relationship between Doctors Light and Wily. Their already expanded personalities in this comic allow us to see just how these two got along before and how things will soon go pear-shaped for everyone involved.
Dr. Light is super positive and trusting, Dr. Wily is a revenge-driven dude who feels overshadowed by his former lab partner, and these two are gonna have a lot of insightful back and forth as the comic goes on!
And its not like we're meant to see Wily in that a tragic a light. I mean, look at him in these panels. xD

How I would reboot and reimagine MegaMan (Classic), MegaMan Zero, and MegaMan X pt. 1
Mega Man's story telling is horrible. It leaves way too many untold details about major plot points. I understand that it was done due to console limitations in some cases, but when there's current day ports of these where the info isn't anywhere to be seen, I really can't let that slide. For example, how many of you know about Elpizo's backstory, which is the whole reason why he acts the way he does? Or the fact that Mamoru is the son of the Yoka Inn owner, and Tamako's nephew, making them sisters? Or that the guardians died to shield Zero from Omega's explosion? Or even something as basic as knowing the base plot of Mega Man 3? Either your answer is "I do, because I listened to the audio dramas, bought every book, or read it on the wiki", or "What the fuck are you on about?". And not just that. Plot holes, dropped plot points, and just bad writing in general in some parts. Who remembers the Wily plot point in X2, X5 and X6? Great, now who remembers it being elaborated on and given a proper conclusion? Precisely. Every series suffers from this, no exception. Or how characters are killed of just because, like, for example, Red. Or how characters get dropped out of nowhere, like Dr. Cain, Dynamo, Douglas, etc.
So here's how I would reboot MegaMan, MegaMan Zero, and MegaMan X.
For Classic MegaMan, I would add more story and lore behind Dr Thomas Xavier Light, Dr. Albert W. Wily, ProtoMan/Blues Light, MegaMan/Rock "Rocky, Mega" Light, Sanitary/Roll Light, Bass, Dr. Cossack, Kalinka Cossack and Duo as well as add new characters Yuta Kobayoshi, Akane Kobayoshi and their parents Mr. and Mrs. Kobayoshi and I'll call them Hanasei Kobayoshi and Minato Kobayoshi via their story and lore, Yuta and Akane are best friends of Rock and Roll, Minato is a close friend of Dr. Thomas Xavier Light. Geo Stellar is also in this reboot but he goes by code name BlueStar and Sonia Strumm who goes by the name of Harp Note, Geo and Sonia are affiliated with Porto Man and they are best friends of Proto Man.
Now for the Chronological Story
Mega Man.
Mega Man 2.
Mega Man World: Dr. Wily's Revenge
MegaMan 3.
MegaMan World 2
MegaMan Origins
MegaMan 4
MegaMan World 3
MegaMan: The Wily Wars
Mega Man 5
Super Adventure MegaMan
MegaMan World 4 [Geo and Sonia's first appearance
MegaMan World 5
MegaMan 6 [Yuta and Akane's first appearance]
MegaMan 7
Mega Man: The Power Battle
MegaMan 8
Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters
MegaMan and Bass
MegaMan 9
MegaMan: Dr. Wily's Return
MegaMan 10
MegaMan Unlimited
MegaMan: Rock Force
MegaMan Eternal
MegaMan 11
MegaMan Eternal 2
MegaMan Revolution
I'll come up more Classic MegaMan Reboot but for now this part of Rebooting MegaMan, MegaMan Zero, and MegaMan X.

Beat Mega Man Game Boy 1 Dr. Wily's Revenge (1991) 3DS Port
Tumblr media
My playthrough started off a bit sour, then became pretty sweet, then sour again.
Word of note for the future, do not pick Cut Man first, his stage and boss pattern are way more rough than in NES Mega Man 1 Elec, Ice and Fire Man were easier to tango with, in that order specifically. I was having more fun there for a bit.
And then the 2 Wily Fortress stages were pretty long and drawn out, more than usual I won't lie I used save states a lot for this section because of how far away from each other the checkpoints are. Plus the bosses at the end of both stages which caught me off guard a bit.
Yea the end was kinda tough and without save states I would probably like it less but hey the wonders of modern gaming. Even though it was tough, ultimately had a good enough time beating it.
The new guy Enker was, definitely new, gonna need to see what external media he shows up in. Anyway, hoping the other Mega Man Game Boy games will be a step up from this, when I get to them anyway. Got work and art plans for the next few weeks, but this was a good start.

Another dumb posting from yours truly.
Hypnowoman: When I'm rich,
(Her pointing at the cast first then Namagem, Megaman and Suna)
Hypno to the Light kids : you're getting therapy
Hypno to the robot masters : you're getting therapy
Hypno to the kids group : you're getting therapy
Hypno to Dr. Light, Sgt Night, and Dr. Wily : you're getting double therapy !
Hypno to everyone : EVERYONE'S HEALING !
*everyone is skeptical about hypnowoman therapy*
Blastowoman : look Mary, you're my good friend but its not enough to get me into therapy beside cause I'm fine.
Hypnowoman : you need job counseling because stealing isn't a job.
Namagem : I don’t want therapy, I WANT REVENGE.
Hypnowoman : exactly why you need therapy.
Megaman : hypno, I'm fine by my own, I have my family with me.
Hypnowoman : yes, support is good but those support can't do open communication without secrets or putting someone in the dark. Trust me you have trust issues now because of your father.
Dr. Light : Mary don't you think you're too much ?
Hypnowoman : No, and you're getting 24 hour of therapy until you learn to not keep secrets from your own children and reconcile with your past and the things you have committed, also known as forgive yourself.
Sgt.Night : why the heck should I listen to you ! You're a controlling psy-
*Sgt.Night get cut of by hypnotize and bang his head with his fist till he pass out also fall down on Wily by accident*
*everyone horrific by this, they stay dead silence*
Hypnowoman : Now, who's first ?

What A Crash Bandicoot Character Can Teach Us about Toxic Relationships
This fantastic article by Cole D from plumjuicegaming unfortunately went down with the site it was hosted on. Luckily, the Wayback Machine archived a copy, which I now share with my fellow N. Brio fans on tumblr. ^w^
Note that it was written in Aug. 2019, before the announcement/release of It's About Time. Text in (italics and parentheses) was a caption for an image that is no longer viewable.
Video game platforming villains are repetitive, predictable clowns.
As much as I love them—and I do—these characters do the same thing every single time. They kidnap a princess or steal a MacGuffin or attempt to seize power in some kingdom, and they never. Change. Course.
Of course I'm mainly talking about the ones who appear in more than one game, so I can't be too hard on the Lord Fredriks or the Sorceresses of the world, however one-note they may be. You know who comes to mind when I say "platformer villain"—Bowser, Eggman, Dr. Wily, King K. Rool...all of these jerks try the same thing over and over, and they just never seem to truly give up, even when their skin melts off in a pool of lava.
It's sort of an inevitability of the genre, you could say; most platformers don't have super involved stories, so when you need to crank out an Excuse Plot for the ninth installment of your jump'n'run franchise, you usually don't feel the need to pull out all the stops in the villain department. You stick with what's familiar, with what the fans will recognize. It's why the Mario series never branches out with new bad guys anymore. It's why we're still seeing Dr. Wily after all of these years. It works, people like these characters, so the developers keep on using 'em! No problem, right?
Well, no, not really. I mean, I freaking love Bowser. And when King K. Rool was replaced by a walrus copy of himself, that decision was met with cold disappointment. Usually, there's no problem with using the same villain over and over again—not at all.
But the way the Crash Bandicoot series does this is...interesting. On the surface it fallows the same practice as your Marios and your Mega Men: you've got Neo Cortex as the main villain in nearly every game, with a rotating cast of misfits serving as henchmen for boss fights. But there's one dork who stands out as the one guy who called it quits, seemingly, for good. Of course, I'm talking about Dr. Nitrus Brio.
(He doesn't have one screw loose, but he is a little nuts.)
You may not remember if you haven't played the games in a while, but this guy was once just about as important as Cortex. The two doctors stood side-by-side and worked together to create crazy mad scientist stuff like deranged kangaroos and gun-toting weasels, and Brio even served as the penultimate boss in Crash 1 instead of siccing another mutant on the poor bandicoot. The problem was that Cortex never really seemed to respect the contributions that Brio made to their work—he took credit for the Evolvo-Ray, the device that mutated all of Cortex and Brio's minions as well as Crash Bandicoot himself. Brio never had the self-esteem to step up and claim ownership despite the fact that he invented the thing.
Fast forward to Crash 2: Cortex Strikes Back. We see Brio again, via hologram, and he finally airs his grievances out loud to a very confused Crash. We learn that he invented the Evolvo-Ray, and that he's now developed an intense hatred for Cortex as a direct result. Brio gets his revenge on Cortex by having Crash gather up the gems, and the frenemies use their energy to destroy his spaceship.
And that...was the end of N. Brio's story.
Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped, the most popular game in the franchise, did not feature N. Brio in the slightest. Crash Team Racing doesn't even offer him as a racer. His and Cortex's union was now just a memory, like a middle school friendship that fizzles out before ninth grade. It's strange, too, because CTR even brought back some characters who had been long abandoned, like Papu Papu and Pinstripe. But they didn't think to include the guy who created Crash?
The thing about the Crash Bandicoot series is that villain characters are rarely retired. You'd be hard pressed to find a game after Crash 1 that doesn't feature Tiny Tiger, Dingodile or N. Gin in some way, to say nothing of Cortex himself. So why did this once-prominent figure go gently into the night? Why did Naughty Dog throw him away like a broken beaker?
Well, I believe that Nitrus Brio was less a villain in this scenario, and moreso a victim. A victim of a toxic relationship with Dr. Neo Cortex, who stole his inventions and never showed even a modicum of respect for his colleague. That's why after settling the score in Crash 2, Brio removed himself from the situation—there was no longer anything to be gained by involving himself in the affairs of Cortex or Crash or Nitrous Oxide because he'd had enough. He'd done everything there was to do at this point—playing the villain? Didn't go so well. Siding with Crash? Worked out pretty great, but now that was done. Brio never really had a reason to return to center stage of a Crash game, so like any autonomous human being would do, he decided to end his involvement with all parties.
This might seem silly given that, well, this is a silly series—a series where most of the villains you fight are mutated animals who speak with accents or broken English. A series where you collect fruits to get extra lives like you're some kind of ape with a tie. In other words, it's a cartoony platformer—the developers Naughty Dog probably weren't intending to include subtext of an abusive partnership, were they?
I would argue that this doesn't matter.
Regardless of authorial intent, N. Brio's story is inspiring. Have you ever been friends with someone who never seemed to care about you or your accomplishments? Has anyone ever taken credit for something you've done, whether that be at work or in your personal life? N. Brio was in a situation just like this, and he...just left.. No coming back for round three, not even coming back for the fun kart racer where even the Japanese bootleg character was invited! Why would he want to race go-karts with the man who stole his inventions and wasted years of his life? No, as far as Naughty Dog was concerned, that was where Brio's tale ended. That was the last we were to see of the Simpsons-looking scientist, and that was for the best. Perhaps he went on to become a bartender, or a disc jockey, or even a well-regarded inventor in his own right—as long as he was away from Cortex, I'm sure he was happy.
It's just too bad that the other developers didn't pick up on this.
Now, I know: this is all just fan interpretation to begin with. There's no real evidence that Naughty Dog strictly intended for Crash 2: Cortex Strikes Back to be Brio's final appearance for the rest of time (though I could argue that leaving him out of the all-star kart racer was pretty damning). This is just how I've come to understand the character over the years, but regardless of what I thought or wanted, N. Brio would go on to appear in several games after the Crash Bandicoot series left the hands of Naughty Dog.
And I think that's kind of a shame.
The very first post-ND game was Crash Bash, and wouldn't you know it—Brio's back, aligned with Cortex once again like nothing ever happened. Yeah, it's a party game, but it still has a story justifying its events in-universe, and with only eight playable characters it would have been so easy to throw in Pinstripe or Komodo Joe or the freaking hog from the first game to take his place on the roster. But as if to intentionally poke a hole in my entire theory, Eurocom reintroduced N. Brio and deleted any kind of progression he might have made in his past two appearances. He was Cortex's buddy once again, fighting for the evil side! Woohoo!
Next was Twinsanity, and this game has the decency at the very least not to partner him up with Cortex again. Instead, he works with Dr. N. Tropy to find...treasure, or something, and gets defeated by Spyro (this was a weird game). It's not an awful portrayal, but frankly, unnecessary. Why is Brio involving himself with these rejects again? When has he ever been motivated by wealth? Didn't this game have enough villains already? At the end of the day, I can only be thankful that he and Cortex weren't buddy-buddy again—although partnering up with someone who was still allied with Cortex is...an odd strategic decision.
Brio's final appearance, and likewise the series's final appearance for about eight years was in Mind over Mutant, an even weirder game than Twinsanity that has South Park cutscenes and self-aware humor. For once I believe he was actually done a little bit of justice. He's back with Cortex, but this is actually portrayed as an anomalous development in the dynamic of the characters—it's made clear that Cortex and Brio were not on good terms prior to the events of this game.. He's gone slightly mad like any good scientist should be, constantly taking credit for things he didn't invent in a humorous over-correction of his previous passive nature. It's also pretty funny that drinking from strange beakers, something he did in his original boss fight for practical purposes, is now something that he just does for fun. It could just be his portrayal by the always-fantastic Maurice LaMarche, but I really like this take on Brio. If they couldn't leave him be, at least they gave him a continuation that made sense for his character.
(All of these screenshots are from the same game.)
Personally I tend to ignore Brio's appearances in later games (but I don't ignore the games themselves—how does that work?). I think his story was told best in the span of two games, and also by nature of his absence in the following two. There's no need to bring back every single character who's ever appeared, whether you're in charge of a dumb video game franchise or an HBO original series, just because you want to have fan service and continuity nods in a shallow attempt at recreating the good old days. A healthy balance of old and new is always best, and if something seems to be a relic of the past, maybe that's for a reason.
So what can we learn from Dr. Nitrus Brio? I think it's important to realize that if you find yourself in a toxic or abusive relationship, whether it be personal or professional, it's always best to leave that relationship behind. Of course, this is sometimes hard for those who rely on their abusers for financial support. Some don't even know that they're in an unhealthy situation until it's too late. Whatever the case, it can be a complicated, sticky mess; but at least N. Brio shows that if you're given a clear out, you should just take it. That's advice I live by, and N. Brio deserves all the credit for that.

Delta Zero, X-Kai Perfect Ending.
If you get all game items including the Shoryuken.....
As X enters the boss room, a tense confrontation unfolds before him. Xkai, filled with determination, declares his intention to put X out of his misery, while Delta Zero expresses his disappointment in X, claiming that this will be the final defeat. Together, Xkai and Zero proclaim their alliance to finally defeat X and prove that Dr. Wily was the superior doctor, seeking revenge.
Suddenly, the screen dims, and a distorted holographic silhouette of Dr. Wily appears. Glitches and distortions start to appear, creating an eerie and unstable atmosphere. The silhouettes of Xkai and Zero begin to overlap, merging into a single form. The screen transitions to pure white, intensifying the sense of anticipation.
Text appears on the screen, revealing dialogue from Dr. Wily: "I… will finally… prove… I am… better… than… you… Thomas…" Dr. Wily's distinctive laugh echoes through the room, sending chills down X's spine. The anticipation builds as the Ultimate Warrior emerges from the white void.
Xkai and Delta Zero have fused into a formidable entity, radiating a menacing purple glow. This new form, known as Delta-Kai, speaks with a voice that combines Xkai's and Delta Zero's, forebodingly declaring their intention to bring about X's downfall once and for all.
The fusion of Xkai and Delta Zero represents the culmination of their shared desire to defeat X and seek vengeance on behalf of Dr. Wily. It signifies a powerful and overwhelming force that X must confront to protect himself and the world from their destructive ambitions.
With the presence of Dr. Wily still lingering in the form of a holographic silhouette and the emergence of Delta-Kai, the stakes are raised to their highest level. X must summon all his strength, skill, and determination to overcome this ultimate challenge and prove his own worth in the face of his adversaries' relentless pursuit.
The dramatic events leading up to the encounter with Delta-Kai create an intense and thrilling atmosphere, setting the stage for an epic battle that will determine the fate of X and the world.
In the climactic battle against Delta-Kai, the fused form of Xkai and Delta Zero, the intensity of his power reaches its peak. Delta-Kai unleashes devastating area-of-attack moves, combining both buster and saber combos to overwhelm X. However, as X manages to deplete Delta-Kai's HP gauge to its last three marks, something extraordinary happens.
The purple aura surrounding Delta-Kai intensifies, taking the shape of a glowing silhouette resembling a purple skull. He charges towards X with an enormous dashing strike, reminiscent of a final, desperate attack. X, for the first time, undergoes the animation of a defeated Maverick, beginning to explode. The screen turns white, revealing X's black silhouette.
But before the fatal blow lands, a sudden twist of fate occurs. Delta-Kai teleports and dashes over for one last slash, causing X's silhouette to split diagonally into two. In the background, the laughter of Delta-Kai and Dr. Wily resonates. The screen transitions to a deep red hue, signifying impending doom.
Then, in a rapid sequence, red text appears on the screen, scattered in different places. It is the voice of Dr. Wily, filled with desperation and panic: "Noooo… NOOOOO… Not now! Not you! GET him, GET HIM NOW!" In the midst of the chaos, the distinct sound of Dr. Light's capsule is heard.
The screen fades into a bright blue, and Delta Zero enters a convulsive stasis lock, temporarily immobilized. X lies on the ground, and the screen starts glitching, creating an unstable visual effect. Once again, the text of Dr. Wily appears, this time in red: "NOOOOO, Noooo Thomas. I am sorry! Please forgive me, Forgiiiiive. MeeeeeEEEEEEeeeeee…"
During this haunting dialogue, the full hologram of Dr. Wily appears, glitching between red and blue, accelerating in speed. As Wily screams out his last plea, the hologram transitions to a solid blue hue. In a brief moment, the hologram of Dr. Light materializes, smiling at X, before vanishing with a zap sound, as if transcending time and space.
X's life gauge miraculously fills up completely, symbolizing a remarkable rejuvenation. The turn of events leaves X in a state of disbelief and wonder, as he tries to comprehend the significance of what just occurred. It hints at a deeper connection between the two brilliant scientists, Dr. Wily and Dr. Light, and their enduring influence on X's journey.
With Delta Zero temporarily incapacitated and X's life restored, the stage is set for the final confrontation against Sigma. The unexpected intervention and the mysterious interplay between Dr. Wily and Dr. Light add an intriguing layer to the narrative, leaving players eager to uncover the secrets and revelations that lie ahead.
With a surge of determination, X rises to one knee, emanating a radiant golden glow. Gripping his buster high towards the sky, the energy within begins to charge rapidly, causing the surrounding area to shake with its intensity. X understands the magnitude of this moment; he knows what he must do.
Maintaining his grip on the buster, X forcefully pulls it down, directing its power towards Delta-Kai. The charge shot, now unleashed with a deafening yell from X, engulfs Delta-Kai in a blinding flash. The sheer force and energy of the blast obliterate Delta-Kai, reducing him to nothingness and even destroying the doorway to the next room in the process.
In the aftermath, only a perfect circle remains, a testament to the overwhelming power unleashed by X. Without uttering a word, X takes a deep breath, gathering his resolve, and swiftly dashes through the opening into the next room.
With Delta-Kai defeated, only one formidable opponent remains on X's path—Sigma. The stage is set for the ultimate showdown, where X will face his greatest challenge and fight to restore peace to the world.

Mega Man 2 Powered Up - Dialogue (*Metal Man route)
see this post for further details on what exactly the hell i'm doing here.
my idea for how the Wilybot story plays out is basically like: dr. wily has made a severe and continuous lapse in his judgement error regarding the Alien. shit is buggy and actively dangerous to use. now, with his life at top priority, you have to stop him from getting this plan off the ground before something drastic happens.
your bros are of course going to be in your way the entire time, following orders and unaware of what you know. you've got to subdue them to get to wily.
"why don't you just tell them what you know?" SEE you could do that if these werent a bunch of combat robots who solve all their problems by attacking them until they go away. this has the unfortunate consequence of doing Mega Man's job for him, but hey. PRIORITIES RIGHT
in order to make them playable, you have to beat them buster only, just like in the original. the explosion animation will change into a warping one at the end of the fight so you can tell.
oh also instead of Roll's voice, all WARNING! calls are heard in a bitcrushed, tinny monotone, implied to be the default voice for your assistant minion.
OKAY WHATEVER LET'S GO. METAL TIME
(OPENING MONOLOGUE)
Narrator: The year is 200X. In his first attempt at world domination, mad scientist Dr. Wily was defeated by the super robot named MegaMan. Seeking revenge, Dr. Wily escaped from the public eye…and returned with eight robots geared for combat. MetalMan is one of them, armed with ceratanium blades, but his sharp eye takes issue with his creator's new scheme…
(TUTORIAL STAGE CUTSCENE)
[Metal Man runs across a dark corridor somewhere under Wily Castle in the middle of the night.]
[His COM unit begins to ring as he's running. It rings twice before he picks up, still running.]
Metal Man: What do you want, old man?
Dr. Wily: Metal Man! Snide as usual, I see…are you out performing security checks on the base like I ordered?
Metal Man: Quit breathing down my neck and maybe I could.
Dr. Wily: Cut the sass! Right now, I'm in the process of drawing out Mega Man! Finish up and be at your post by the time we're ready to begin our attack, or else!
[Dr. Wily hangs up. Shortly after, a strange low alarm begins ringing. This catches Metal Man's attention, and he proceeds to the right, beginning the tutorial stage.]
(VS. CENTRAL COMPUTER)
--WARNING!--
[The terminal situated at the top of the room lights up, the machinery beneath it whirring to life.]
Central Computer: "DWN-009" IDENTIFIED. PLEASE COMPLETE EXERCISE 001 TO CONTINUE.
Metal Man: Look, I'm just here bug checking. Can we not do this right now?
Central Computer: LOCKING DOWN…
[The room itself undergoes a shift, simulating a challenge course tailoured to Metal Man's abilities. When this shift is finished, the terminal monitor begins counting down.]
Central Computer: INITIALISATION COMPLETE. GET YOUR WEAPONS READY.
(POST-TUTORIAL STAGE CUTSCENE)
[The simulation terminates. A door on the other side of the room opens. Metal Man automatically follows the path into the control room for the Alien. A screen glows near Dr. Wily's seat.]
Metal Man: Finally. Stupid tedious anti-invasion measures.
[Metal Man sits in Dr. Wily's seat and scans the Alien program for errors.]
Metal Man: Everything looks fine. What a waste of-- [Cue program stability error SFX.] ...oh. Guess I jinxed it.
[Metal Man's COM unit rings again, only once this time before he picks up.]
Metal Man: Wow, perfect timing. We need to talk, it's about plan E.
Dr. Wily: You listen to me, this is urgent! Mega Man's just beaten my mech, and he's at large! Move your chassis out of the castle and get in position -- I've got preparations to make! NUAHAHAHAHA!!!
Metal Man: Oi, I'm serious, this is--
[Dr. Wily hangs up before he can interject. Metal Man shuts down the Alien program.]
Metal Man: ...If the old man gets in the chair as it is, he's toast. Forget preparations, I need to stop him before it's too late.
[Metal Man warps away to another wing of Wily Castle, in a flash of red and blue light.]
-LOADING...-
[Metal Man arrives in an arm of the Teleport Station and stops in front of a large, idle monitor. A Pierobot is waiting on the left.]
Metal Man: So, what'd you bring me?
Pierobot: Da-daaa!
[The screen cuts on, showing the eight robots available on the stage select.]
Metal Man: No points for precision, but it'll do. Now it's just a matter of convincing the guys to work with me.
Pierobot: Daa-daa-da-daa!
(VS. MEGA MAN)
--WARNING!--
[Mega Man is teleported into the scene in the usual fashion he would be if he were the player character.]
Mega Man: So you're the one stealing metals from the recycling plant! I've been looking for you!
Metal Man: Aw, what a coincidence, me too! Now beat it before I slit your puny throat.
Mega Man: ...Fine. I guess if you won't go peacefully, this is where we part ways.
(VS. AIR MAN)
--WARNING!--
[Similarly to his appearance in Mega Man: The Power Battle, Air Man emerges from the eye of a developing tornado.]
Air Man: THE METAL MAN COMETH! And he stands before my greatness, not as an ally…but as an opponent?
Metal Man: Quit your blustering and shut this birdhouse down before I lose my patience.
Air Man: The audacity…! The great AIRMAN shall not be made to dishonour his mission by command of hoodlum youth such as yourself! BEGONE!!
(VS. BUBBLE MAN)
–WARNING!–
[Similarly to his appearance in Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters, Bubble Man rises up in a giant bubble. When it pops, he performs a backflip stroke.]
Bubble Man: B-buh?! Metal Man, what are you doing here? And why do you look so...tense?
Metal Man: I can think of a few good reasons. You won't be one of them if you try standing in my way, bubble guts.
Bubble Man: Gnh...Y-you, you think you're gonna threaten me, huh?! N-not anymore! I'm not scared of you!!
(VS. QUICK MAN)
–WARNING!–
[Quick Man dashes across the raised floors in a blur. At the peak of his third jump, he flips into a pose on the room’s right end.]
Quick Man: Seriously, Metal? I was expecting Mega Man! Unless…hey, you didn't come to cut in front of me, did you?!
Metal Man: No, of course not. Obviously I'm here to sell you dental insurance.
Quick Man: Shut up! If you think you're gonna beat Mega Man before me, you got another thing coming!
(VS. CRASH MAN)
–WARNING!–
[The pipes on the right end of the room explode violently. Crash Man is blasted in, but recovers with a roll and stumble to a stand.]
Crash Man: You snake...stabbing us all in the backs like this...
Metal Man: If you care anything about what'll happen to Wily if I don't, you won't fight me about it.
Crash Man: TRAITOR! Raise your hand to him AND I'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU!!!
(VS. FLASH MAN)
–WARNING!–
[Everything freezes until there’s a sudden burst of white light. As it clears, Flash Man materialises on the right end of the room in a pose.]
Flash Man: Tell me, Metal Man…what exactly are you trying to prove by covering your heart in razor blades?
Metal Man: Good luck dissecting that. I know you love pretending to be enlightened.
Flash Man: Hmph. There's a line between independence and isolation, you know. Be careful you don't cross it.
(VS. HEAT MAN)
–WARNING!–
[Heat Man’s box sits plainly on the floor until it jumps. His arms and legs pop out, and the lid opens in a flare of fire once he’s fully standing.]
Heat Man: Mets! Hey, you bring me an E-Tank? I'm cooking in here…
Metal Man: You can get one free if you drop the mission with me.
Heat Man: Boo. I'm not catchin' heat from Wily just 'cus you wanna act dumb. Get lost.
(VS. WOOD MAN)
–WARNING!–
[The trees and their leaves above shake vigorously. Wood Man falls to the ground in a crouch, with a resonant rumble.]
Wood Man: Dude, you might have an axe to grind, but this…isn't there a better way?
Metal Man: You think this is personal? C'mon Wood, be reasonable about this. Just fall back.
Wood Man: Man, I had a feeling you'd snap one day. Someone's gotta bring you back to your roots.
(“WILY CASTLE APPEARS” CUTSCENE)
-LOADING…-
[Metal Man returns to the station. The room's lights are lower. The screen is idle and no longer reflects the stage select.]
Pierobot: Da-da-daa! Da da da!
Metal Man: Well, well. What do we have here?
[The screen settles into a clouded sky. The camera zooms into it until the perspective is from the sky itself, which is tracking Dr. Wily’s capsule as it moves through the growing storm.]
Metal Man: Heh. That's our geezer, alright.
[Dr. Wily flips open the lid. His irises are red. He briefly acknowledges/teases the camera by pulling a face and waggling his eyebrows. He shuts it again, and tries to outpace the camera.]
Metal Man: Old bat probably thinks it's still MegaMan on his bumper. What's worse, he's not taking any of my calls. I might have to grab the reins from him by force.
[While Metal Man is speaking, Dr. Wily vanishes through the clouds. When the camera catches up through the fog, it focuses at the bottom of the fortress. Cue prelude. It tilts up just in time to see Dr. Wily retreating into the eye of the skull. There is a flash of lightning and a clap of thunder.]
Pierobot: Da-da-da-da da da da-daaa?
[The monitor then comes back into play as the view of the fortress becomes a grid map.]
[The camera pulls out and fades back in to the station, where the two are standing, facing the screen.]
Metal Man: Right. Good thing I don't follow the rules. I'll just have to carve a path in. Shouldn't be too hard. I kinda live here.
[The two turn to face each other. The Pierobot smiles at him.]
Metal Man: All you have to do is make sure I have a stable link back to this room in case I need repairs, capice?
Pierobot: Da-da! Da-da da-da-daa!
[The map then becomes selectable, per fortress stage.]
(VS. MECHA DRAGON)
–WARNING!–
[Mecha Dragon’s body lurches bit by bit. She then roars out a blaze of flames.]
Mecha Dragon: Rrrrr….chaarrrrrrr…?
Metal Man: Oi, behave. You bite me and it's back in the chamber for you, bessie.
Mecha Dragon: Choarrr….CHHOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR!!
(VS. PICOPICO-KUN)
–WARNING!–
[The eyes in the walls peek before flashing various colours in quick succession.]
Picopico: CONTEMPTIBLE PRESENCE IDENTIFIED. SCANNING...PLEASE STAND BY FOR CLOSING WALLS.
Metal Man: Contemptible, huh? Cranky 'cus you're a wall, ain'tcha?
Picopico: MALICIOUS INTENT DETECTED. PLEASE WAIT...ENGAGING TERMINATION PROTOCOL.
(VS. GUTS TANK)
–WARNING!–
[Guts Tank rolls onscreen, then straightens up, punching its fists together.]
Guts Tank: I'VE...GOT...GUTS.
Metal Man: Got anything else…? Brains, maybe?
Guts Tank: I'M TAKING…YOU DOWN…WITH ME.
(VS. BOOBEAM TRAP)
–WARNING!–
[The eyes of each cannon rove about and glow until they fix on Metal Man. They then blink in unison.]
Boobeam: Metal Man is here? Metal Man is here! Here? Lies! See? Hi!
Metal Man: I know you idiots can hear me! Lay off or I'm tearing you all a new one!
Boobeam: R-request? Negatory! Invalid? Code breach! Fire? He will! At will? We will!
(VS. THE DR. WILY TELEPORT STATION)
*Conditions for this one being, only the first robot you encounter here is the one you have any dialogue with. The WARNING! also only shows up once.
–WARNING!–
[The robot you’re rematching appears in the same manner and pose as they did when you first fought them. Their textures appear somewhat holographic.]
Tumblr media
(VS. WILY MACHINE #2)
–WARNING!–
[The mech descends on screen with just a bit of puffing steam. Dr. Wily then drives his capsule into it, and pushes the windshield open. His irises are their usual colour.]
Dr. Wily: YOU!! What on Earth are you doing?! This entire time, you've done nothing but counter my attacks on the city! Whose side are you on?!
Metal Man: Yours, old man, now quiet down and listen! Look, your Plan E's got a fatal error…
Dr. Wily: SILENCE, YOU DISOBEDIENT TWIT!!! You've meddled with my plans for the last time! I shall pound you into scrap with Wily Machine #2! I'll even make a better, stronger robot from your parts! See if you ever question me again! NUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
[He shuts the windshield and prepares the guns.]
(PHASE 2)
[The face of the ship breaks off, revealing Dr. Wily in the cockpit.]
Dr. Wily: GAHH!! No no no no no no no! Now you've gone and done it! But I'm not beat just yet!
[He improvises a temporary solution, shedding any extra broken parts. Wily Machine #2’s HP refills.]
(PHASE 2 - END)
[Wily Machine #2 fully breaks down. While it does, the floor begins to rumble.]
Dr. Wily: Grrgh…it looks like I'm going to have to break out plan E after all…don't get in my way!
Metal Man: No! Dr. Wily!!
[The floor gives way from underneath of Metal Man before Dr. Wily is seen getting away. This transitions the player directly into the secret final stage.]
(VS. DR. WILY?)
[Quietly, Dr. Wily’s capsule descends. He jumps out of it and floats idle in the darkness. It spins away on autopilot without him. No warning is given. His skin texture is buggy and his irises are red.]
MetalMan: Wily, have you lost it?! I said no!
Dr. Wily?: Defeat your own, will you? Intercept my authority, will you? You have no idea O-F THE W-WORLD-D-D-D ENDING POWWWER I HOLD, BOY.
[Halfway through the last sentence, his body begins to transform in a jittering, unstable manner. Metal Man takes a step back, worried. The vast starscape fades in around them once the Alien is fully uncloaked.]
Alien: YO-O-OUR PETTY CONCERNS ARE INCO-NSEQ-Q-QUENTIAL. KNEEL BEF-BE-BEFORE ME AND WITNESS THE TRUE POTENTIAL OF DOC-T-TOR ALBERT WIIIIL-LY.
(POST-ALIEN BATTLE)
[Dr. Wily is in a panic as everything begins to deteriorate. Warning sirens and like alerts fill the air.]
Dr. Wily: What's…what's going on…?! This thing is out of control!
[Dr. Wily is seen trying to get everything back in good working order behind his terminal, until Metal Man approaches him and picks him up from behind the control panel by force.]
Metal Man: Alright old man, you're done. Time to go home.
[Dr. Wily struggles to resist arrest. The hologram generator falls to the floor and breaks, catching fire.]
Dr. Wily: Aaaack! You insolent robot! [Cue fanfare.] Unhand me this instant! Give me a few more minutes, I can fix this! It'll just take some emergency hotwiring and--GYAH!!
[Both Metal Man and Dr. Wily teleport away, presumably to safety. The control room is then left to combust and collapse inwards.]
(ENDING CUTSCENE)
[The camera is focused on the now black stage select screen. The ancillary teleport station, partially crumbled and shrouded in darkness, is then dimly illuminated by it whirring to life. The Pierobot comes out from under some rubble, celebrating this.]
[Dr. Wily then falls in from above, looking very ragged. This scares the Pierobot. It turns to him with wide eyes.]
Dr. Wily: Ough...my head...
Pierobot: Daa! Da-da-daaa-da!!
[Dr. Wily gets up quickly with a grimacing angered expression.]
Dr. Wily: Oh! Conspiring with one of your flunkies, were you?! When I get my hands on you, I...eh?!
[Dr. Wily looks around for Metal Man. The camera pans slightly with him to show they did not arrive in tandem.]
Dr. Wily: Where did...I thought we both...?!
Pierobot: Da-da-daa...da-da da daa da.
[Dr. Wily takes over the computer and immediately gets to work trying to locate Metal Man's signal. A picture of Metal Man, shut down and stuck under support beams and brick in an unknown location focuses into clarity.]
Dr. Wily: Metal Man...? How in blazes?! You! Dispatch a team to retrieve him at once!
[The two parties go their separate ways.]
[The camera gradually zooms into the monitor feed until the view is of Metal Man's body on the ground, in real time. [Cue ending theme.] The seasons pass him by outside, as do events of what's happening in the background while he is inactive. As the song draws to a close, the rain stops. Dr. Wily's capsule flies in front of the sun, indicating he and his robots have finally found him (after the events of the epilogue circa Mega Man's route). The camera slowly, and then quickly pans up through the sky to the stars, and thus begins the staff roll.]
[Post-staff roll, the player is prompted to save once more before being returned to the company logos and opening cinematic.]

please tell me of your proto man!
BESTIEEEE THANK YOU SO MUCH. GENUINELY. THIS GETS REALLY LONG BECAUSE IM NORMAL <3
ok SO. something something the world the mega man games take place in a world where sentient robots are pretty much the norm. thats all you need 2 know about the lore for now.
ok now about my guy of all time. so the story goes that there was a man, dr. thomas light, who was part of a big research team on the whole sentient robot thing. he, along with his colleague dr. albert w. wily, were tasked with creating a prototype for a robot who could think independently and achieve free will. so of course they did. they made the guy (to be fair. light was the one who was behind most of the work being done) and this robot was given the name of blues.
see. dr light saw blues as his own son. in fact the full name he was given was blues light. and light loved this boy so much. it didnt matter if blues was supposed to be just a prototype, that was his son, the child he always wanted, the light of his life. and for the record, blues loved his father very much as well. they were a family, they loved each other so much.
but of course something had to go wrong at some point.
well. blues was a prototype, after all. he was bound to be imperfect. and one of those imperfections was some sort of malfunction with his power core - essentially, his heart. and because he was a prototype, dr light didnt make him with the intent of modifying him. but his heart was going to kill him, dr light had to do something, he had to save his son's life. but heres the thing: blues. was. not. made. to. be. modified. if light were to modify his core, he would lose all his memories and all his personality - basically, he would no longer be blues light. so. dr light was given a choice: either he'd lose his son, or he'd lose his son. an impossible choice for a man to make.
but he didnt get to make that choice. because blues heard about all this, he was scared, he didnt know what to do. he was so so scared that his father would change who he was. so... he ran away. blues ran as far away as he could, away from his father, away from the threat of being modified, the threat of death. it was then that blues made his decision: he would rather die tomorrow being himself than live forever as someone else.
at one point though, blues thought that maybe he was wrong. maybe he could go back to his father, work things out, get his core fixed and still be himself somehow. but by the time he got to light labs, he found something out: dr light had new children. rock and roll light, new robots, better robots, better kids. replacements for blues himself, the imperfect tool he had been. or, at least that's what blues thought. so he fully gave up on going back home, he accepted the idea that his father had replaced him, that he didnt care, that he never cared enough. so he continued on his journey, onwards to his inevitable death.
however. enventually. blues's power core caved in. he was so so close to dying. but he was found... by dr wily. dr wily, who stabilized him without making any changes, and forced a gun on his hand. because you see wily fucking hated dr light, allegedly for taking his work from him, and he thought there was no better revenge than turning light's son into a weapon. of course, blues didnt know that that was what was happening. and he saw this as an opportunity for his own revenge - his revenge on rock light, his brother, his replacement. so blues took on the moniker of break man and disguised himself as someone else to fight.
the fight happened. it was messy. but during it all, blues found out that no, he had never been replaced, his father wanted him back home, and rock wanted him home too. his family was still there, his family still wanted him. and though he couldnt truly let go of everything that had happened, he knew it wouldnt be easy to forgive his father - if he ever got to that point at all - but he was able to move on. instead of letting himself be defined by who he was or his past, he would move on, acknowledging what happened to him but not letting it hold him down in place. and thus, his new name was born: proto man.
from that point, he would always show up to help his brother rock (aka mega man! btw!) when the fight got too hard for him to handle. he even got to the point of being willing to work with dr light, even though hes not truly forgiven him. its... a slow progress, but its progress. and whats very significative, to me, is how even after everything, he still willingly calls himself blues light.

How do u think Night felt about Dr Wily? Do u think he wanted revenge on him too? He never mentioned him though
Continuity problems between the series and the comic continuation aside, I do not think that Night wanted revenge on Dr Wily.
Night is so focused on his goal of acquiring the Mega Key and wiping out the inteligent robots that in my opinion he doesn't seem to want revenge on dr Light. It always struck me that Night more was focused on, in his view, doing what he has to for greater good than attacking dr Light. Sure, he had no problems in attacking Aki or Suna or taking Namagem/ Daini, but it did not feel as a personal attack on dr Light. (Though there is one instance of a direct attack on Suna that is difficult to explain logically.) He may acted from time to time on resentment, but I do not think it was the main motivation or a goal.
Now, Night went after dr Light only because of the Mega Key. That was the real reason Night came to the Sillicon City. The comic established that dr Wily was living in the City all along, Suna says he's "the best Hard Age scholar in the town". So what I would assume is that Night knew where dr Wily was, but since dr Wily did not have the Mega Key and that Wily kept a low profile and just did not make public appearances as often as dr Light, Night had no reason to target him.
What I headcanon though, is this: Wily was already preparing his plan (whatever exactly is was) by the time Night, or more specifically, Lord Obsidian came to town. Wily wanted to take advantage of robot's dissatisfaction, so he contacted Lord Obsidian and offered to help him. But Night knew Wily, or knew about him enough to know or heavily suspect deception, so Lord Obsidian refused the offer while simultanuesly placating Wily enough to stall him or make him not interfere. Night is intelligent, I think he could do this. And that's why Wily made his move after Night's plan failed.
I think that neither Night nor Wily like one another. Night sees Wily as too focused on robots and megalomaniac, while Wily sees Night as closed minded and a fool.
