This isn’t a dialogue prompt so if it isn’t accepted I’m sorry! But I wonder about if Dr. Mcnider had figured out it wasn’t really Sylvester when Pat invited him to check him out after he staged the altercation with Dragon King. I know Ultrahumanite studied up for his role but I imagine all an actual doctor who knew Sylvester would have to do is ask the right question to start poking holes in his resurrection story.
(it's fine! I welcome it and you!)
There was a scar where there shouldn’t have been one. Clear and precise and hidden by hair, but his glasses could see through all that. It wouldn’t have been noticed by Dr. Chapel, or by anyone, even if they looked closely. But looking closely wasn’t what Charles did, it was what his tech did for him. What human eyes might--might, if they'd been looking--have picked up as just a scar, the glasses read far more in. What had made the wound--a bone saw. What had been used to stitch it, what technique. Where it had been seen before, on an actress's body left to rot, a secret preserved for decades. None of it should have been on Sylvester's body.
But it was.
"It's astounding," he said, covering confusion with wonder. It was genuine, too. “You're healing remarkably fast. Hmm."
"What is it, doc?" the man before him said, in Sylvester's voice, with Sylvester's mouth. Charles took a breath, and a risk. "I think I finally understand how you came back to the land of the living."
The glasses picked it up, too, almost imperceptible, a jolt of adrenaline. So he knew, and he didn't want anyone else to know, or know that he knew. Charles waited another heartbeat for a reaction, shifting his weight.
"Enlighten me," Not Sylvester said, sounding so like himself-so like who he was pretending to be, that Charles almost doubted himself. He'd failed to pick up on any lies before, but his glasses couldn't tell if you were lying to yourself as well as to others. If you were genuine, just wrong, there was only so much...
"That's exactly what I think the staff did, Sylvester," he said. It was a theory, anyways, one he'd had before this meeting. It might even still be true.
Sylvester's imposter pressed further, and Charles elaborated. He'd never win a fight here. His best chance was to play the role he'd assigned himself, old friend. Helpful doctor.
He didn't need the glasses to see for him to know the look in the man's eyes when he asked after his son. It wasn't a threat, it was too veiled for that. But it was clear enough.
He'd warn Beth through the goggles, and like a coward, he'd take his family and run.
am i crazy or did they not show beth’s poster in the end 10 years later scene? we see rick’s, todd’s in the background of rick’s, yolanda’s, cindy’s, jakeem’s, and courtney’s but i’ve rewatched the scene three times now and i don’t think we saw beth’s poster. if her poster is seen can someone plesse screenshot it for me because wtf lol
Oh the writers done lost they minds with this one. Not only yelled at Beth’s parents but slick threatened her. In my community that’s a sure way to get your ass handed to you…….
