The Cast: Introducing 3 Characters
Here's some info on the three characters in the header, from left to right!
#1 — Dr. Immanuel Icarus Faust
❝ It wasn't supposed to be like this... I've failed... as both a doctor and a man of faith. I wanted to follow your teachings, dear Goddess, and guide those who seek wisdom and knowledge, as grandmother did... but I couldn't even save one innocent girl. Have I become godless? ❝
Raised by his grandmother, the High Priestess of Solbrynn's temple, Immanuel was taught from an early age on to aspire to be the best in everything he attempted to do and dedicate his life to wisdom, in order to make the Goddess Adira proud. Having become a renowned physician at the age of 28, Immanuel understands himself as his kingdom's ideal of a self-made man: a scholar who can achieve everything he puts his mind to, no matter the circumstances. As a result, he has put himself on a pedestal, believing that those who achieved less than him had all the chances and merely didn't use them. Fearing nothing more than failure and becoming anything like his absent, alcoholic father; Immanuel is bound for a rude awakening.
#2 — Morgan Miralaith
❝ While you were having your existential crisis in the mad scientist laboratory you call your bedroom, I took the liberty to read your grandmother's diary. The good news is, I finally understand where all the hubris comes from. ❝
Morgan, belonging to a long-lived species from the realm of Calliah, is the second-in-command for the Elsthess Resistance against the Plague Avatars. While the Resistance on Mhorunn regards her as a capable leader and a skilled fighter; using fire magic to blaze her way to victory; it is clear to most that she has many secrets and ulterior motives. She cares about others in her own way, yet hardly lets anyone close to her. With her mischievous demeanor and cynical nature, Morgan has made it her new mission to recruit Immanuel for the Resistance and, while at it, shatter his very distorted self-image and worldview. Upon forging a contract with her, Immanuel believes that he has sold his soul to a demon. It is only upon meeting others of her kind that he realizes that really is just her personality.
#3 — Mortis Grimm
❞ People reject that which is foreign to them. You of all people should know this. Still, my personal aspirations and origins are of no concern to you. Remember that. ❝
While there are several people from the Realm of Calliah in Elsthess, the realm that Mortis Grimm originated from is unknown. He seems to be the only one of his kind and there is something sinister about him. Wielding powerful magic that matches no other in recorded nature, Mortis, despite being the leader of the Resistance, is a big mystery to all of its members. Usually donning a Plague Doctor mask, Morgan is among the few to have seen his face. He is Mhorunn's greatest ally, but hardly a trusted one. Most understand that he could just as well become its greatest enemy one day.

hi uhhhh I've been seeing a lot of anti-captain carter posts on here (and absolutely loving it ofc) but could you tell me why everyone's talking about her sm suddenly? sorry I'm dumb 😅
Well....spoiler alert for Dr Strange Multiverse of Madness!
I haven't watched the movie but from what people have told me, she appears briefly as part of the Illuminati. Here's a brief rundown to what the Illuminati was in the comics. She was given Steve's catchphrase "I can do this all day" and that is the main sticking point.
CATWS and EG both gave evidence that Peggy was heavily involved in the running of SHIELD, and by association the recruitment and preservation of Zola, an active Nazi. But you know, not everyone can be heroes, right?
Well...apparently Marvel doesn't think so. What If was basically a Captain Carter premiere. Peggy was being peddled as "Steve but better", and that is when people's annoyance skyrocketed. Instead of, you know, actually crafting a well-rounded female character, they took a combination of Steve's and Bucky's story beats, and pasted it onto Peggy and Steve, without transferring any of the key marginalised traits that made up Steve's identity. Steve is not your typical privileged White man, that's John Walker. In the 1930s the Irish were one of the undesirable races. In the 1930s eugenics was the ruling philosophy amongst the educated and affluent, and Steve would have been branded "defective" by being poor, having an alcoholic father, having a mother who died from TB, and he himself having multiple severe health issues (as well as being Irish and, depending on your reading, queer coded). This is why it is so significant for Steve to be the one fighting, because he's representing people dehumanised by society. This is not even going into the fact that Peggy as an Englishwoman belongs to a group of people who oppressed the Irish (and many other countries) over centuries, and seeing her fans say that her character is an "inspirational" way to revive the might of the British Empire really tanked her credit in my eyes.
At the same time, What If came hot on the heels of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, where Sam finally accepted the mantle of Cap. What If then went on to...center on Peggy in several episodes, while Sam barely appeared (I think he appeared in the zombie one and that was it?) The Captain America twitter replaced Sam's header with her picture during its premiere, despite (many of her fans vouching) Captain Carter is not Captain America.
Since then, Peggy has made an appearance in DSMOM as Captain Carter, and there are reports of a Captain Carter live action in the pipeline. Meanwhile, apart from the initial post-series hype about Cap 4, we have had dead silence on Sam in his next outing as Cap. They have basically shafted Sam, after a series that dealt with systemic racism, for a character that proudly displays the Union Jack on her chest. As someone from a Commonwealth country I say WTF.
So...the reason people are talking about her is because the MCU is shoving her in our face, and uh...when you ask for attention, you're going to get scrutiny, and the limelight might reveal things you don't want people to notice.
(PS: I'm actually glad that Sam wasn't in the movie because heavens forbid they'll put him in the Illuminati, an elitist organisation that couldn't tolerate Steve's morality.)

So, Clip Studio Paint has finally launched and started pushing Version 2.0. And I'm not very happy about it. I'm including headers and dividers 'cos this is a long long post. There's a TL;DR if you want that.
──────────
"Update? No, new program, baby!"
I got a pop-up saying that an update is available (when you open Clip Studio Paint you get a little pop-up that says "see what's new", clicking "ok" opens the main Clip Studio program), normal CSP update stuff. When I went to check it out, though, I saw that it meant Version 2.0 is out rather than another 1.0 update being available, with all this stuff in the update window:
Tumblr media
The release notes on 2.0 look pretty cool, so let's check the pricing. That "use the latest features" button is new; clicking it (as someone who already own CSP 1.0, idk about people who don't have it) take you to this screen with details on the different "plan options" you have for 2.0.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Keep in mind the prices here are based on CSP EX, the most expensive version of the program at $219 without discounts)
Since it exploded on social media when it was first announced in August 2022, nothing has changed: if you want to get a permanent license for EX 2.0 while already owning EX 1.0, you have to pay an extra $39,99 for a 2.0 permanent license, and you'll need to pay $28,99 a year if you want to get feature updates, for a total of $68,98 from the get-go if you're a 1.0 user.
Tumblr media
The only 2.0 users who get feature updates bundled with their license are monthly licenses, starting at an "affordable" $0,99 a month... and $7,49 for a monthly license for two different devices? How strange...
──────────
"Wait, that doesn't look right" (my descent into madness)
"How come monthly usage of CSP EX is $0,99 a month for one device but $7,49 on two devices?" I hear you ask - I had the same question as well! The way the page is formatted makes it look like an absurd sale price, maybe even an error in the listing. And the simple answer is: CSP EX is not $0,99 a month.
The little "Plan list" hyperlink opens a window in your browser that clears this up. $0,99 a month doesn't get you CSP EX, $0,99 a month gets you CSP Pro... On a smartphone.
Tumblr media
Monthly usage plans are "flexible" in that you pay a specific amount of money a month in accordance to the amount of devices you want to use your license on: smartphone plans are the cheapest since they only give you a license usable on mobile versions of the program, while every other plan includes at least one tablet or pc device. The "cheapest" option for a single device of Pro is $4,49 a month; for EX, $8,99.
"Why did you say 'cheapest' in quotes there?" you ask again. Well, the folks at Celsys (the devs of the program) have been so generous as to offer a discounted monthly plan to people who already own 1.0!
Tumblr media
And oh how generous they are.
──────────
"It's maths time!" (the part where I go full Joker mode)
1. Upgrading
Let's do a thought experiment for a second here. Let's say you're like me: someone who bought a permanent license for EX 1.0 before January 2022 (because you don't have to pay for a new permanent license if you did so after the date), someone who only uses CSP on the pc and likes owning the programs you pay for instead of paying subscriptions. Let's also assume you want to access feature updates and not just stability upgrades.
If you wanted to go from a permanent EX 1.0 license to an EX 2.0 monthly plan (which... why), you'd either pay the one-device plan for $8,99/month or $71,99/year which has no special discount, or the dual-device plan for $7,49/month or $61,49/year with the special discount. You go "what the hell, why not? I don't have an obligation to use the second license, and maybe I'll want to use CSP on mobile*!" (*you know you won't) and get the dual-device plan.
Now, remember that a permanent EX 2.0 license if you already own 1.0 costs $39,99, and the Update pass is $28,99/year; $68,98 total. The $7,49/month plan would've costed you $89,88/year, a little over $20 compared to a permanent license with feature updates. The yearly option would still be cheaper though, saving $7,49 in comparison to permanent EX with the Update pass, and $28,39 compared to the monthly option... For the first 12 months, that is.
Don't forget that this is a special offer; after those 12 months, the $7,49/month and $61,49/year will go to their usual price of $12,49/month and $99,99/year.
Tumblr media
If you don't cancel that dual plan in time, you could potentially spend $161,48 on CSP EX - a $63,51 difference between that and the $39,99 upgrade with two years of the Update pass ($57,98). And don't forget that you can't get a refund if the renew goes through.
Tumblr media
And don't forget that, if you did end up using a smartphone with your plan and that phone is not an iPhone, you'll have to pay for a normal single-device plan instead of the smartphone plan if you want to use pen pressure sensitivity.
Tumblr media
(Literally what the fuck?)
That's just the annual plan, though. This is speculation on my part, but I imagine more people would cancel the yearly payment once it's gone through, since it's a bigger sum of money with much more time between payment periods to do so.
Let's say you, like an estimated 40% of people who get a subscription service on some kind of trial or sale, forget to cancel and one day you get billed $12,49 instead of $7,49 for the monthly plan, for an accumulated total of $101,47. Maybe you decide to keep the dual plan wilfully, or you just keep forgetting to cancel or downgrade it, or whatever else... and, without realising, by the second year of your monthly subscription you will've spent a cumulative $239,76 for the program. A permanent license upgrade from 1.0 to 2.0 with two years of the Update pass would've cost $97,97 instead.
2. Don't get scammed upgrading (scam them instead!)
Let's assume that you, like me, have upgraded from Pro to EX in the past. You may have forgotten about the fact that you don't own one, but two CSP licenses. All the upgrade from Pro to EX does is give you a serial number for EX at a discounted price, so even if you use one of them you still have the other floating around in your account info.
But why is that important?
Tumblr media
If you (I don't really understand why) wanted to get EX 2.0 monthly with that dual-device discount and pressed the "EX Dual-device discounted plan" button in Clip Studio (img 2 & 4), you'd get taken to this screen which claims you get EX for $7,49/month for... 6 months, even though the website clearly says it should be $7,49/month for 12 months?
Tumblr media
What's happening there is that the offer automatically assumes you want to get this discount based on your Pro license and not your EX license. As you can see here, the special offer gives people with a permanent 1.0 Pro license the monthly discount for either Pro 2.0 or EX 2.0 for only 6 months.
Tumblr media
What you have to do to actually get the $7,49/month for 12 months offer, you have to click on the "Return" button at the bottom of the page, then select the EX license manually to get the appropriate discount like so:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you did this on purpose, though, you could get EX for $7,49/month for 18 months instead of 12, or $61,49/year for two years instead of one - again, you'd have to actively remember to change your plan's info, but a neat trick to keep in mind if you really want to go through with that.
Tumblr media
Even if you did, both would still be more expensive than a permanent license with two years of feature updates ($209,76 for monthly, $122,98 for yearly).
3. But I don't have 1.0!
I wasn't going to include this originally because I feel I've talked about numbers a lot already, but I also understand that at least some of the people who are reading this did not own a permanent CSP license prior to the release of 2.0, so let's go over that too.
We'll keep using EX for simplicity's sake. There's technically four prices for a permanent license for CSP EX: $219, the regular listing price; $129, the sale price; $169, the price to upgrade from Pro to EX*; $84, the sale price to upgrade from Pro to EX*.
*right now there's no listed prices for the upgrade from 2.0 Pro to 2.0 EX, probably because it just came out - regardless these have always been the prices for upgrading from one to the other, and Celsys keeps both regular and sales prices pretty static.
Clip Studio Paint goes on sale very frequently, around 3 or 4 times a year. If you wait to get EX on sale (like how it's on sale right now), you'd be spending a total of $157,99 for a permanent license with one year of the Update pass; if not bought on sale, that'd be $247,99 instead. At first glance it doesn't look as inviting as the subscription model, but you have to remember: buying EX and an Update pass will be $157,99-$247,99, but once you own the program you only have to pay $28,99 a year if you want the Update pass. If we wanted to compare this to the subscription models, we could say it's like paying $13,16/month or $20,67/month for one year, and paying only $2,41/month for every year after the first one.
...And this is assuming you do what the Update pass! You don't need the Update pass at all to use Clip Studio Paint 2.0! And you can keep using 1.0 if you own it!
(If you're a monthly subscriber to CSP already and/or didn't buy a perpetual 1.0 license before today you can't use 1.0 anymore though, sorry)
──────────
"Wait, what?" (and "what the fuck is the Update pass?")
Maybe we got a bit lost in all the maths and endless screenshots of things, so let's dial it back. I keep throwing the name "Update pass" around, so let's go back and explain what that is and what it does with some context.
CSP (what is now known as CSP 1.0) has always been praised by its users for the dev's involvement with the art community, its disposition to incorporate real user feedback when possible, and constant bug fixes, but what it's been praised for the most has always been the free feature updates. The colour mixing palette was a feature update, Companion mode was a feature update, the liquify tool, compatibility with Photoshop brushes, timelapse videos, dual brushes, SVG file support... All of those were feature updates, additions to the tools that were already available in the program, or new tools and functions altogether. All of them were provided for no extra charge, no matter if you got a one-time purchase permanent license or a payment plan.
That is no longer the case with CSP 2.0's perpetual license. And this is where the Update pass comes in.
If you own a perpetual license of CSP 2.0 you will get stability updates (bug fixes so the program actually works lol) if there's big bug fixes that have to be done, but will only receive feature updates for the current version of CSP you own if you pay the yearly Update pass.
Tumblr media
And I say "the current version of CSP that you own" because you will get all the new features that release through CSP 2.0's Update pass with the release of CSP 3.0 in 2024.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"3.0?! Already?!" I see you stumble back with my mind's eye. Yes, CSP 3.0! Knowing this, it's easier to understand it all if you see the Update pass as less of a "key to unlock extra content" and more of an "early access to the next version of the program". Whatever it is that Celsys releases between 2.1.0 til 3.0, all of it will be included with the purchase of a perpetual license when 3.0 comes out. You can use 2.0 and its included new features (which look super cool btw) without shilling out an extra $9,99/year for Pro or $28,99/for EX a year on top of the product's license.
──────────
"What the fuck was that all about then?" (it's all so confusing and frustrating, in conclusion)
I know right??? I've been reading and writing and reading again and asking and going back and forth since 10:40am and it's almost 9:50pm. I am going insane. I don't even know why I'm writing this desperate yelp into the void knowing it won't even have the courtesy to stare back at me.
If you're at all familiar with any kind of subscription model, or other "convenient" continued payments over a one time payment, is that these payment models are over-complicated on purpose. Companies bank on you not being insane like me and not sitting down for hours making calculations and analysing shit that's way more obtuse that it should be, so you'll pick the path of least resistance and gear towards the option that gives them eternal revenue from you. Just look at this shit:
Tumblr media
If you already own a license for CSP 1.0, they literally go and tell you the best thing you can do is pay an annual $9,99/$28,99 instead of buying a $49,99/$219 license. It's pure capitalist greed and it sickens me to my very core.
It feels silly to say, but even though we've known this was how it was gonna be for over half a year now I'm still so, so disappointed and distraught. Of course, logically, I know not to trust a company, or a brand, or whatever other money-maker, but in the sea of shit that Adobe has drowned the art industry under, it was nice to have the one really good program that didn't try to pull that shit on you, you know? I spent almost 12 hours of my life writing this for a reason, after all. And just... I don't know, man. Life under capitalism is so bleak, can't even draw in peace and shit
──────────
TL;DR
If you use/want to use CSP on pc don't get scammed into buying any subscription bullshit lmao just get the perpetual 2.0 license and wait for 3.0 in 2024 if you want new features so bad eat the rich bitchhh
Also if you wanna spend any money I'd recommend waiting at least a couple days cos there's been a lot of posts about people having their licenses and subscription activations delayed by ~24 hours due to high demand

Hi there!!
It's from Sydney Theatre Company's recent play adaption, which I absolutely adore. Here's some more pics:
Story of the Door:
Tumblr media
Search for Mr Hyde:
Tumblr media
Dr Jekyll Was Quite at Ease:
Tumblr media
The Last Night:
Tumblr media
Dr Lanyon's Narrative:
Tumblr media
Henry Jekyll's Full Statement of the Case:
Tumblr media
It's very source-accurate which is delightful, with maybe ~90% of the script being directly from the novella, and keeping the same structure. Thematically, it's most focused on friendship, multiplicity via public/private self, and repression. It pretty explicitly points out Hyde isn't evil lol. Also it's very focused on Utterson's characterisation and his (heart-breaking) emotional experience throughout which as an Utterson Person I love so much.
It's also just a super cool play in it's own right. It's what the director calls "cine-theatre": a hybrid of live theatre and film elements/effects. Those camera operators in the photos are recording the actors and live-streaming them onto big, mobile screens hanging onstage. The live footage can then be have effects put over it, be overlayed, duplicated, mirrored or fragmented between screens... creating this awesome, highly source-appropriate use of the visual mode. They also overlay the live footage with pre-recorded footage filmed on the set; then you have an altered image onstage vs onscreen. It's a two person show with one actor as everyone bar Utterson, so this is often used to allow said actor to act against himself/ be two characters simultaneously! (Two characters simultaneously, did you say...)
I haven't really posted much about it on my new blog, but there's a number of posts about it on my old one (@ishmaels-archive) under #j&h: sydney theatre company. (I just realised the search function doesn't seem to be working properly on that blog anymore since it was shadowbanned, but if you scroll to something tagged #the strange case of dr jekyll and mr hyde, then you can go through that tag to find the STC tag... thanks tumblr)

What do you think is going on with Charles and Ferrari because he left Brazil early, isn’t wearing any of his Ferrari sponsors in LA and hasn’t posted any about Vegas at all? And how Ferrari is only posting Carlos for the countdown to Vegas.
Honestly? I don't think anything particularly strange or alarming is going on.
There was that photo of him with no watch and no bracelets on, but while we're used to seeing him with stacks upon stacks of bling on his arms, it's not out of the norm for him to tone it down and only wear his 'private' jewellery when he's off duty, just spending time with family, friends, etc. I'm pretty sure this was also the case in that (momentous lbr) clip of him on the yacht holding baby Chiara, where he only had I think his Senhor do Bonfim bracelet on and a necklace which, tbh I couldn't see very well, but it looked like a private piece (possibly the cornetto pendant?), not a sponsor piece.
As for why he left Brazil so quickly... I mean the non-race was a disaster for him 😭 But more simply, maybe he just didn't have much else left to do there? We recently got the news that he signed a deal with an American agency to represent "his entertainment and commercial ventures." If he's trying to promote himself or grow his brand in the US then it makes sense for him to be making all these public appearances, eating out at celeb hotspot restaurants and all of that. Also I think he's got a bunch of contacts in America (those art gallery exhibitions that looked quite private, the whole Doni Nahmias meet-up with the dog 😭) so it also makes sense for him to hang out there before leaving for Vegas. A week off like that after a triple header with the calendar as tightly packed as it is may as well be summer break 2.0 for these guys and I guess that's just how he chose to spend his time.
I quickly browsed through Ferrari's pre-Vegas social media posts (at least on Twitter) and, as of right now anyway, they've got a few generic promotional hype-up graphics/posts with Charles and/or both of them. They also just dropped a 'new' video in the same vein (as people have noted they seem to have filmed it around Brazil) where Charles mentions that they won't have a lot of time for post-race partying because they're flying to Abu Dhabi soon after, so maybe this past week has just been him trying to get some of that out of the way in LA asdkfg
TL;DR: I don't think anything odd or worrying is going on between Ferrari and Charles at the moment, just that Charles is in his "fuck it I'm off work" era before shifting back into race/work mode in the coming days as Vegas officially gets underway and everyone will say how much they love it and how fun and big and wonderful and special it all is because of course they will 😵‍💫

hello! hmm i was wandering around the ai.character site (my guilty little pleasure being to imagine scenarios with the handsome Dr. Spencer Reid from criminal minds). When my curiosity prompted me to search for Lando on the same site. I was shocked to see that there were indeed several IAs available for him. And I wanted to have your opinion on that. Personally, I find it a bit strange… Writing or reading fictions about a real person does not bother me (even if it's a bit strange when you saw the guy irl) But starting a fake chat with an AI created to pretend to be that person…it’s a higher level and a bit disturbing, in my opinion… Even if the sentence "Remember: Everything Characters say is made up!" is in the warning header. So, what do you think about that?
oh spencer reid my first love 😌
i don't like ai as a whole, like the entire thing is just unsettling and very stupid. i don't have the strongest opinion on it but i just do not like it at all. but i don't mind people who enjoys it, everyone's got their own thing!! 🥰

pulling a reverse “the Flash Reddit page putting Ralph Bohner in their header for April fools and declaring him the best speedster to grace the earth” here and declaring right now, with complete certainty, that Barry Allen WILL be in Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Source? just trust me. I’ve got a gut feeling.
(Actually, it’s that joking about this just distracts me from how sad I’ll be if quicksilver isn’t in the movie, so I’m trying to prepare myself for marvel messing up and not having him there. Like I am genuinely worried Ralph will stay Ralph and we’ll never see Peter again)

The List
A/N: A tiny fluff written for my friend, who has had a series of bad migraines. It's not great, as I'm going through writer's block, but enjoy perhaps.
Read on:  FFn       AO3
 ---------------------
Shego sighed as she walked into the lab. It was her third time in that day, after having re-read any magazine worth reading, tanning, doing her nails, and eating enough snacks to spoil her dinner. She was bored, and Drakken...was apparently making no progress.
"Whatcha workin' on Dr. D.?" she said without enthusiasm in the direction of the blue lab coat clad man hunched over the computer desk.
Drakken appeared to shrink in size as he moved unnecessarily to hide the paper he was writing on.
"Nothing!" he snapped. "I mean, ah...my plan shall reveal itself in due time, Shego."
Shego rolled her eyes, tired of his prevarications, and moved to try to see the single letter-sized piece of paper that had apparently been his preoccupation since before she woke up. She caught the briefest glimpse before he had secreted it beneath his sleeve and gave her a dark, threatening look.
"There's like...what, five words written on there? Is that all you've done?" she asked incredulously.
"This is very important! It can't be rushed."
Shego leaned against the desk and crossed her arms.
"What hare-brained scheme is it this time? Lasers mounted on condors?"
"No!"
"Mind-controlled rats?" she asked with a smirk, shifting toward him to see the paper.
"No! Go back to your...whatever you were doing," Drakken insisted, leaning away.
"Come on, what's the big secret?" Shego said, making a grab for the paper as he had become her new entertainment.
A very brief scuffle ensued, ending with her leg parallel to the ground and her boot in his chest as he snarled and reached forward futilely to snatch back the slip of paper she had stolen. His snarls turned to incoherent grumbles as she chuckled and held him at bay, but as she finally focused on the paper her humor slowly dissolved. Drakken's protests died as well, and she was aware he had stopped struggling. She slowly set her foot back down and read over the five words that headed the page.
'Reasons I love Shego,' it read, with a single bullet-point beneath and nothing further.
She blinked at the paper, and then looked up into Drakken's pleading eyes.
"That's not very flattering," she said in monotone as she extended her arm and Drakken snatched the paper back and whirled away.
He said nothing as he sat down again, his hand shaking with what emotion she wasn't sure as he took up his pen.
"All day and...nothing?"
She didn't know how she felt about him making the list at all, let alone the fact that he'd found nothing to write on it. But apparently he had finally thought of something, as the man's only response was to write a single word down on the paper, the heavy press of his pen the only sound in the room.
"I wanted to be specific..." he began quietly, as he pushed the paper across the desk in her direction. She picked it up as he continued. "But there's just too much."
'Everything,' the paper now read below the header.
Shego searched for an anchor amid the strange swirl of feelings within her chest, finally focusing on the sensation of breath leaving and entering her now-parted lips. She swallowed slowly as her heart thudded against her ribs.
"Dork," she said with a smirk, hoping that the tremble of her voice or the blush on her cheeks wouldn't be noticed as she shoved the paper into his face.
Drakken grabbed the paper and she caught a glimpse of his frustrated features before she turned away, a smile blooming on her face.
"Oh yeah? Well! You try to...! Just...! It's not like...!"
His attempted explanations turned into incoherent sputterings. After a moment and with her heart pounding, Shego spun around and silenced him with a kiss. Drakken's muffled voice of protest died in seconds, until they parted and he gasped for breath while looking wonderingly into her eyes.
"Don't sweat it anymore, Dr. D.," she said, her voice hushed as she took the paper from his clenched fingers and let it flutter to the floor. "I think you nailed it."
She watched relief flood his features, and then set her arms up on his shoulders and kissed him again.

temporary pinned post sorry
Alright, the temporary blog image has grown on me. It's a cropped square from page 31 of A Collection of Emblemes, Ancient and Moderne (1635) by George Wither.
The header image is Monhegan, Maine (1922) by Nicholas Roerich. Everyone should go look at more Roerich artwork immediately; his are some of the most consistently beautiful paintings I've ever seen.
Anyway...
I'm:
Cinnamon or Hildred by name, accurately referred to with any pronoun set other than he/it.
@/voidblue on pronouns.page.
Generally, my thematic color is blue and not yellow, but it doesn't make sense for Hildred Castaigne to be blue. In fact, I think he'd be somewhat offended. This makes making this account look like me... somewhat difficult. (Update: I've given up entirely. This is Hildred's blog theme now. The Imperial Dynasty of America was secretly the Imperial Dynasty of Tumblr User @hildred-rex's Blog Theme.)
Under the readmore: a list of fandoms I partake in, more detail on my exploits in gothic literature, a noncomprehensive list of other things I've enjoyed, and a "last updated."
Fandoms:
gothic literature (predominantly horror) in general; this gets its own list lower down!
The League of Extraordinary Gentlefolk.
Arthur Machen (have not read everything yet!)
Dracula by Bram Stoker.
The King in Yellow by Robert W. Chambers.
The Parties are for Losers series by Ferry. (I don't want to give them a random notification for no reason, but they're nopanamaman on tumblr.)
The rest of Ferry's songs are also very good!
currently reading Homestuck due to a D&D campaign (I promise this makes sense in context)
[more when I remember them]
I decided a few years ago that Lovecraft was seminal to the cosmic horror genre and that therefore I should read all the fiction he ever wrote; to my recollection I've read everything listed on Wikisource except "The Street" and "The Rats in the Walls," provided it's extant. (Not sure this counts as a fandom?)
I'll have to come back and add a "music I enjoy" section later.
More on Gothic Literature:
(Listed = I've read it; bolded = I can probably do analysis of its characters; italicized = I don't remember it well; underlined = I really want to reread this and will when I have the time. Small is notes and commentary.)
This is only what I've dredged up from my brain at the moment and I have probably read more; this'll be updated as I read and/or think of stuff.
Dracula (1897) by Bram Stoker. (Curiously, I've never actually done Dracula Daily.)
The King in Yellow (1895) by Robert W. Chambers. (Bolding only goes for the weird stories, including "The Demoiselle d'Ys," and is strongest for "The Repairer of Reputations." I've found myself unable to get through a few of the romances & cannot make heads nor tails of "The Prophet's Paradise" except that it feels like someone accidentally published his sheet of idea-collection paper. Admittedly, because of that it makes a pretty good transition between the weird stories and the rest.)
The Three Impostors (1895) by Arthur Machen. (I utterly adore this book.)
Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1886) by Robert Louis Stevenson. (I really loved reading this one, but was very sad by the end. I had Opinions on most of the characters and will again when I reread.)
The Great God Pan (1890) by Arthur Machen.
The Inmost Light (1890) by the same author. (Hello Dyson!)
The Vampyre (1819) by John William Polidori.
The Shining Pyramid (1923) by Arthur Machen. (I didn't like this one when I last read it; Dyson felt off.)
The White People by Arthur Machen (has the most cursed name of anything ever).
Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus (1831, not yet 1818) by Mary Shelley.
The Red Hand (1895) by Arthur Machen.
[Am currently reading more Machen.]
Miscellaneous Things Enjoyed:
This time in alphabetical order.
The Anatomy of Tobacco by Arthur Machen. I feel I must clarify that it's a comedic work that I'd estimate to be of novella length. Reader beware, this book contains random untranslated and even untransliterated faux-Ancient Greek.
At the Mountains of Madness by H. P. Lovecraft.
The Case of Charles Dexter Ward by H. P. Lovecraft. It feels like reading a textbook with a central plot besides the advancement of history (and with a nicer writing style). Content warning for racism and off-handed mentions of the colonial American slave trade.
Fourteen by Peter Clines. This book gets in one's head and doesn't leave.
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and its ensuing series, by Douglas Adams.
Last updated 2023-12-07, YYYY-MM-DD. Created sometime in late-ish November 2023. Backdated to Louis Castaigne's birthday in a year that would make him 42 years old at the founding of this blog.
