Just checking is it normal (as a romance-averse aro) to feel a tad uncomfortable when someone tags your art/post with the ship name (due to the romantic connotations of ships) or should I try to get over it haha

people can use this site however they want but there's something almost- idk, sad? about how few people are actually using their blogs. you can turn themes on and have skeletons dancing in the background. you can make everything hot pink. your blog is your scrapbook and you can put whatever you want in there. tags are okay at organizing things so you can have just a whole archive of cool shit to look at later. i know people complain a lot about people liking stuff about reblogging for engagement, and on one hand i get that- it is WILD to see a drawing i spent hours on get only 12 reblogs and 60 likes. Absolute culture shock compared to my previous fandoms. but i don't think you should reblog anything to make artists happy. i think you should reblog things so you can find them again. i think you should queue things to appear on the dash at specific times on certain days. i think you should reblog things so when you're talking to your friends about xyz post you saw you can look in your blog's archive and find it again. i think you should reblog things so that your dash is filled with one really sleepy cat. with the loss of reblogs there's the loss of engagement, which Does hurt the community-focus that makes tumblr so appealing, but idk i just wish people were more excited about the incredible amount of customization that tumblr allows and took advantage of that more

I have! I read Scum Villain's Self-Saving System earlier this year just adored (most of)* it. I also have the first volume of Heaven's Official Blessing sitting on my bookshelf at the moment, gifted to me by a dear dear friend. However I'm being selfish at the moment and waiting for the whole story to be published in English so I can just read the whole thing from start to finish.

Tsubasa is taking up all of my allotted patience points, I think.

got a new hard drive (had to, no space left 😔), so I'm using that as a reason to completely reorganise my files (mostly shows, movies etc)

I'm pretty sure I'm the anon that got deleted (honestly: a valid move on your part) but I just saw your post about it and YEAH. I'm a chronic tags reader so while I'm sure my tone in the original ask came off as annoying and/or generally not worth answering, I was going off of actual tags I had seen people put in their reblogs of the polls! there were a lot of people dissecting their vote in the vein of "x is better looking but y is hotter!" people were being open about misunderstanding the poll on purpose!

there's definitely room to debate "do the people leaving the tags actually think y is hotter if they voted for x who they said was prettier?" but you can see someone laying bare their personal read on hot vs. other kinds of attractive (pretty or handsome or whatever) in the notes of a majority of the polls. also, the word pretty specifically got tossed around a lot! anyway this ask is more annoying than the first one, sorry and also thank you for running the polls xx

JDSKFHSFHSKJFHSDKJHFDKSJDHFKDSH okay the first one was mildly annoying but not in an Annoying way (i hope you understand)(no hard feelings in fact possibly negative hard feelings... we've all been there !!!! i might be there right now !!!!) but no now that you've elaborated i totally get it and agree. ultimately Hotness is kind of really subjective especially because a lot of ppl voting in these polls aren't into men KSJDFHKSJDFHSKD [And Who Am I To Deny You Clicking A Fun Little Button Here On Connor McDavid's Internet] but willfully ignoring the explicit terms for your meow meow.... sigh. alas.

But what is your Worst Fear List?  

I’ll go first:

- Netflix decides they can’t risk Too Much Gay; Andy and Quynh are never explicitly made canon

- in that same vein re: muting queerness, Netflix decides to shift focus away from Joe and Nicky’s romance, either by separating them, making them argue (in a contrived way - ie: over Booker - and not a nuanced/authentic way), or moving the spotlight someplace “safer”.  We get surface-level, disneyesque rep. 

-  we find out what causes immortality, and it’s something that can be scientifically explained and/or replicated w normal humans OR we find out that immortals can have their immortality forcibly taken away and/or have other super powers (this is NOT the mcu good lord).

- there are many more immortals: not in an interesting way (ie: self-contained clusters that only dream of each other), but rather in a way that reduces the importance of the Original Six and cheapens the narrative impact of immortality itself.  the dreaming mythology becomes a muddled mess that has no internal logic and conveniently serves to advance the plot.

- Quynh gets a shallow/reductive arc and takes 2nd stage to Uma’s character (no offense Uma, but this should be Quynh - and Nile’s - time to shine).  Even worse, Quynh is somehow nerfed/made less powerful. 

- in that same vein: all POC characters recede into the background while Andy and Uma’s character are the main focus.  Nile’s complex journey into immortality (ie: having to leave her family) isn’t explored; instead, she’s (lazily) written as superficially powerful/perfect without any nuance or deeper exploration into her inner life.

- any kind of multitude of ways it could fall into Orientalist and/or anti-Asian tropes (not just re: Quynh, but if part of the film takes place in East Asia, as rumored; this could also come into play with Golding’s character.)

- Netflix decides their algorithm demands more movies like RED NOTICE and GRAY MAN; mindless action overshadows intimate, emotional moments and the inclusion of flashbacks (which would establish these characters’ sheer age and long-standing dynamics with each other – an element that would be particularly relevant given Andy, Joe, and Nicky’s LONG past together with Quynh) is either minimized or excluded entirely.

- the characters speak mostly in English, and we don’t get the multi-cultural, multi-language feel of the original film. 

- wrt the speculation above about taking immortality away: if ANY of the original fam are forcibly made mortal and subsequently die (i know we’re all expecting it to be Andy, but subverting this foregone conclusion would be the laziest shock-value writing choice; i want the Original Six to GROW as a family. please.)

When you hear about a major le*k in the series that you’ve been following for years and go through the 5 stages of grief: 1 Learn it’s from the official source so it’s safe to look at I guess?

2 Learn it was actually not supposed to be le*ked but who cares I wanna be sp*iled

3 Learn that someone (not just someone, someone Someone) is very angry about the le*k right now

4 Still try to look for sp*ilers but all you can find is people screaming they’re seeing sp*ilers everywhere 

5 Acceptance: it’s fate you’ll be the only fan not to be sp*iled because for the love of god I can’t find this stupid sp*iler everywhere, it’s all people screaming

6 Work on the acceptance part
