svt as brooklyn 99 characters
tags: b99 au, i am obsessed, i’ve been rewatching this series for the 600th time now, only 80% accurate, i stretched it a little bit
thank you to alice (koogyv on twt) for the amazing thread that i highly interacted with as inspiration. there are many similarities. i expanded upon it more.
this is my take:
det. jake peralta
hoshi
“i wasn’t hurt that badly. the doctor said all my bleeding was internal. that’s where the blood’s supposed to be!”
arguably, this is the best pairing made. he’s silly, hard-working, creative, and most of all -- he’s gunsta think about the turtles. even as a jokes-first seriousness-second type of person, jake is a thoughtful and caring person who would put himself down to save others. he’s sharp, perceptive, and great at deduction, but often discredits himself with his great delusion, playfulness, and childish nature. he’s a trendsetter and loves to joke around, and when he has a great thought, he’s going to put it into action. (“yeah, that’s right. i’m about to monologue, son.”) his favorite movie is die hard (hoshi as a shawol), is canonically broke (hoshi’s constant money loss due to him spoiling everything), and tries to annoy suspects into confessing their crimes.
men can have duality. they can be serious and also put orange soda in their cereal. hoshi, as a Super Gemini™ knows all about it. he’s playful but knows when to be serious and takes his line of work very seriously. sure, he has some growing up to do and can immerse himself in a different role (horanghae <3) very easily, but he plays to his strengths and that of others with his determination and persistence.
capt. raymond holt
seungcheol
“wait a minute. this isn’t the championship cummerbund. this is some common cummerbund. and, you’re not cheddar. you’re just some common bitch!”
“this bitch? please. watch.” (to the dog, ‘some common bitch’) “shake… shake! psshh. idiot.”
this is probably the most obvious and predictable choice after jake=hoshi. a born leader, full of wisdom, and no-nonsense… well, some nonsense is okay. captain holt is ambitious and looks after his squad with both care for their goals and their personalities. even though he may seem a little unapproachable or stoic, he’s actually a really funny and goofy guy. he laughs when he eats marshmallows (“a marshed mallow? don’t mind if i do.”) he’s very adamant about his passions (like john phillip sousa being the skrillrex of his day) and his a very consistent guy (ref. rock painting no. 367). he is sassy to the max and will tell you things exactly as he finds them. and he does NOT mess around when it comes to his dog.
cheol, most of all, is the ultimate dog dad -- just like holt. cheddar is to holt like kkuma is to cheol. he spoils his dog, and he is proud of it. he’s someone who caters to the learning style that each person needs: stricter but with jokes for jake (hoshi), encouraging for rosa (woozi), detailed with a binder and written formalities for amy (seungkwan), and with actions (ref. the croque monsieur) for charles (dk). he’s attentive, thoughful, and silly at heart.
det. amy santiago
seungkwan
“gross, rosa! those are our dads! i mean, that’s not what i think. captain dad is just my boss. never mind, i’m teaching father the math. whatever, rosa!”
super badass, but also a teacher’s pet, know it all, and scrapbooking expert. may come off as super uptight or a buzzkill, but genuinely cares about the other detectives on the squad. when you have hella big aspirations, it’s not that unreasonable to see why competitiveness, sharpness, and intellect are his best traits. under all of the work-oriented personality, there’s someone who is ambitious, thoughtful, clever, and protective of the people he loves. it’s hard to not be so uptight and to let loose (as opposed to some totally scheduled fun!), and don’t make fun of him if he sucks and is horrible at it. (title of his sex tape.)
seungkwan was my top choice, mainly because of his competitiveness with hoshi (jake) as svt’s most famous frenemy pair. there’s a lot of responsibility and workload that seungkwan carries and continues to put on his shoulders, which his members love and appreciate (just how the squad appreciates and acknowledges amy’s dedication to being a detective). things can get wild and crazy sometimes, which is why seungkwan just needs to recharge sometimes.
det. charles boyle
dokyeom
“i got this low tag performance polo with moisture wicking technology. kept me dry all morning. and a dry boy is a smart boy.”
if you’re looking for a supportive best friend who will always cheer you on, this is him. he’s a major foodie, he loves jake (hoshi), and his arch nemesis is sergeant peanut butter, who is a horse. he’s possessive and jealous almost as much as he is a superb friend, which is obvious by the way he instantly is suspicious of every other best friend jake (hoshi) can make in his life. (“don’t make any new best friends! haha… maybe you shouldn’t go…”) he gets jealous of many, like old beat cop partner stevie schillens, brian (?) from camp, and even cannibal jail cellmate caleb. also definitely dresses up as people from halloween that no one but him can understand. he is just someone that is the embodiment of living life according to his passions. very caring, thoughtful, and funny.
dk was a good choice for boyle for me since he is super clingy and also is a supportive friend. even if he knows it’s silly or mischievous, he will play along. dk is relatively less prone to disgusting and gross sexual innuendos than charles, but is still super excited to share his jokes and hobbies. has a lot of holiday cheer and his down to be friends even after being turned down.
det. rosa diaz
woozi
“plans are plans. i’m a badass, not an anarchist.”
mysterious, a little scary, but reasonable and thoughtful. rosa is a character that’s easy to stereotype, though also arguably one of the more complex characters in this show. hard working is an understatement, and even though he may not be the most outwardly affectionate at first glance, rosa is super thoughtful. work comes first, but through the many trials and tribulations that life throws, business remains separate from personal… except the friendships. rosa went through the academy with jake (hoshi), so they’re really close. as much as jake jokes around and everything, they still trust each other and work with each other really well. (“diaz has been chuckin’ d-holes into my mouth since the academy.”) on top of that, is a bicon (bi icon).
woozi was my go-to choice on this one. his demeaner seems a little intimidating (especially because of all his muscles now too!), but he means good. he gives off mysterious vibes, but he’s just figuring it out. now he is truly no-nonsense, and he makes sure others know this. he’s still down for the different personas and everything, but he lives his life by a strict set of rules. his neighbors think he’s emily goldfinch (woozi)… his coworkers think his name is rosa diaz (wooahae)… wait. what?
sgt. terry jeffords
mingyu
“terry loves yogurt.”
literally just a big softie that looks scary/big/muscular but is actually so babygirl. he’s so caring and loves the squad to death, always making sure that they have all the resources they need to survive. even when other captains come and go, terry is always there. terry loves yogurt, terry loves love, and terry loves foreign films.  kind of has a rivalry with boyle (seungkwan) for strange reasons instigated by boyle himself, but is supportive nonetheless. (“hey, people like the way i look.” “sure they do, big guy.) he’s actually very well-educated (studied abroad in japan), is a great dad, and is always down to help others work out the right way.
this was such an obvious choice for me (with the only other option being cheol). mingyu is an inherently kindhearted person like terry, but also knows how to draw boundaries. he is someone who is worried about the safety of the people around him because he’s a family man, but also someone who loves to get down as vacation terry. also talks in the third person, but it’s okay since he’s hot.
gina linetti
myungho
“aren’t you forgetting something?” [...] “no! pay your bill! damn, who raised you?”
the human form of the 100 emoji. would be the perfect human president, based upon his skillset, dance ability, and bloodlust. he is the paris of people. has been jake (hoshi)’s childhood friend and went through high school with him. cares enough to steer jake (hoshi) on the right track (ref. brandon bliss) but to also enable him in their own goofy shenanigans (the DDC + the lacroix siblings). super smart and well-versed in the people around him because only gina would suggest savant (vernon), the hacker, to become their new IT guy. iconic entrepreneur.
i know that hao is super humble, and gina says that being humble is her best trait. despite this, there is no one else who would love to not be involved with all this police nonsense (bc gina “does not listen to a lot of things you all [the detectives] say”) but also be relevant. she’s actually very street-smart, great at comebacks, and the ceo of her own company that she literally just made up.
dr. kevin cozner
wonwoo
“that’s the oompiest oomph you’ll get.”
prim, proper, and unhinged. he loves raymond (cheol) but most of all, allows love to prevail. works as a classics professor at a university, spends a sabbatical in france to enrich his teaching experience, and loves a good croque monsieur. would absolutely go off on jake (hoshi) if he gatekept a nicolas cage movie that's a period piece set in greece based on some dumb book. despite his no-nonsense attitude sometimes, he is still down to dress like a pervert to go to the library with jake (hoshi). also, super badass because he runs over seamus murphy with a car.
i was kind of going for wonwoo’s quieter but more serious and studious vibes. i think super knowledgeable, especially about gaming and editing, while kevin is knowledgeable about classics like boetheus and the odyssey. both are super smart, sassy, and protective people.
doug judy
jeonghan
“i sold a guy a fake pekinese. twas a cat.”
he’s in and he’s out! he is there for the vibes and the elaborate schemes. he will outsmart everyone in the NYPD and get away with it. one of jake (hoshi)’s best criminal friends but would still betray him every time. he would definitely lie and tell his family that he owns an architecture firm instead of being the pontiac bandit, and jake (hoshi) is his assistant mangy carl, whom he saved from a life of living on the streets selling his body. goofy and silly, but don’t underestimate him. you’ll always be one step behind him.
i think jeonghan is definitely slick and goofy enough to be doug judy. above all else, jeonghan’s mind works harder than anyone else in mafia. just like how he immerses himself in different roles (and often makes them up) in don’t lie and bad clue, doug judy has transformed into many different roles in his life (cruise ship singer, architect, etc.)
capt. jason stentley (CJ)
jun
“okay muchachos, let’s roll up on these muchachos!”
great start, and love the double use of muchachos, jun. became a captain due to his extreme luck. he is just always in the right place at the right time. showed up to his first day in grey sweatpants because he “totally biffed it” and spilled hot cocoa on himself. introduced himself as ‘captain stentley’ but didn’t like how formal that sounded. ‘captain jason’ wasn’t it either, so CJ was the move. numbers are so crazy, and overall so, very supportive. he just wants to help.
i was just thinking of someone a little silly and laidback. will be strict if you ask him to, but he’s honestly more there for the vibes. he can be a little clumsy, but i was mainly just going for the slightly airheadedness vibes and the lovable nature.
det. adrian pimento
joshua
“whoo… haha… hey chuck! it’s pimento.”
just a little bit insane. it’s a side effect of being undercover for 12 years for jimmy “the butcher” figgis, but i digress. he sometimes still calls himself paul sneed due to being extremely traumatized. overall just a funny and great character. used to be boyle (dk)’s roommate and just found himself in his son’s closet at some point in time… got mistaken as a closet monster… just normal human things. (but he was also screaming with dk and his son.) has a very riveting, intense, and sexy relationship with rosa (woozi).
this one was a little more of a stretch, but only because pimento is actually insane. all the years of ptsd has made him into a very strange person. josh is a little strange, and maybe he could be pimento if pimento was watered down into a lacroix. (like, the flavor is barely there.) there’s a distinct slight insanity that josh has (ref. gose episode the8 and the 12 shadows) that is hard to replicate.
fire marshal boone
dino
“your only move is passing the ball to jeffords and running across the field.” “i’d like to see you try!”
so done with the entire police department. will always be down for a rivalry or argument but genuinely a softie. just generally suspicious of jake (hoshi) and charles (dk) due to their antics and strong adherence to the rivalry. demands an apology because this is the fire department’s jurisdiction! all of that comes crumbling down though, when jake (hoshi) reveals his sad past with sal’s pizza…. but he still competes with jake (hoshi) on arresting the criminal in the end. some things never change.
i was honestly looking for someone who would love nothing more than to call out hoshi and dk on their BS and tomfoolery without enabling it and thought of dino. boone is a pretty lovable character for someone who is supposed to be a villain of some sorts, and it fits in pretty well with dino. plus, he’s the head of the fire department, kind of like how dino had to choose being the maknae of svt versus being the leader of a younger group. (kind of.)
! vernon
okay i was genuinely very torn about who should be vernon, because i genuinely had a lot of different options.
corey park (savant)
hacked into a police precinct’s computer system just because he could. (he only exposed everyone’s search history.)  “it was like taking candy from a baby.” he was turned in by his mom, but fortunately now has a job -- courtesy of gina (hao). very intelligent and laid back
i saw vernon here because he definitely has a mischievous side. while his pranks and jokes are on the mild side, he’s definitely still a troublemaker. he’s down to work for the greater good.
cheddar the dog
“this isn’t cheddar, this is just some common bitch.” a very special someone. definitely is seungcheol and wonwoo’s child. loves wedding cake and is very well-behaved. extremely intelligent and loves participating in halloween heists. does not like being jake (hoshi)’s dog bra ://
this was based on alice’s thread and was so funny. if cheddar were a human, vernon would be cheddar. the sass and intellect can only be matched by Thee hansol vernon chwe.
other fun character pairings that i thought of:
kkuma as cheddar the dog: two words -- so spoiled. also would be cheol (captain holt)’s baby. i digress.
jun & dino as young hitchcock and scully: just two people motivated by helping the city. kind-hearted and brave people, who may or may not have gotten addicted to wing sluts while checking in on a witness that their captain screwed over by not putting in the witness protection program. outstanding people who became a lot more interesting, to say the least….
josh as madeline wuntsch: strangely tense relations with holt (cheol) due to their rivalry, but overall an outstanding cop. ½ of svt’s evil twins so you know he’s down for some evilness. oh raymond, i notice you haven’t done your time as a beat cop…. (if josh is here, who’s guarding hades???) may be a cheuksin, a korean toilet ghost who--
jun as mlepclaynos (the clay is silent): opens the door, is questioned by detectives, takes the picture of the suspect. he’s from neokrakagovia and celebrates dogs losing their virginity. jun definitely would! less because he’s weird and more so because he’s so kind and willing to go with the flow that it just happens. later says he’s not mlepnos. did you sell him horse blood? would you like to buy horse blood? he plays the violin beautifully. “guitar.” (ref. some day morning)

my 2022 writing year in review!
Thank you so much to @feeisamarshmallow for the tag!
1. Number of stories posted to Ao3: 32 separate stories! I was very fortunate to have a productive, joyful writing year, and I also started writing shorter stories rather than longer ones this year.
2. Word count this year: 74,396
3. Fandoms I wrote for: Avatar: The Last Airbender, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Gilmore Girls, Grey’s Anatomy, Heartstopper, Murdoch Mysteries, Severance, Supergirl, The Fault in Our Stars, The Martian, Virgin River
4. Pairings: Aang/Katara, Sokka/Zuko, Jake Peralta/Amy Santiago, Rory Gilmore/Logan Huntzberger, Charlie Spring/Nick Nelson, William Murdoch/Julia Ogden, Kara Danvers/Lena Luthor, Hazel Grace Lancaster/Augustus Waters, and Beth Johanssen/Chris Beck.
5. Stories with the most:
Kudos: i’ve been around the globe, found a diamond wrapped in gold (but it doesn’t shine like you) which is my Supercorp friendship bracelet story! I just finished it and I was so happy to be able to give it a satisfying, cute ending.
Bookmarks: same thing as above! this was a really popular story :)
Comment threads: to know you like the back of my hand, which is my collection of a dozen one-shots I wrote for Supercorp.
Word count: same thing as above! this fic was my longest this year, at 9,100 words total.
6. Work I’m most proud of (and why): I’m going to go with memories painted in much brighter ink, the Heartstopper fic I wrote about Nick and Charlie dealing with their negative relationships with Harry, who decides to apologize to them both for being a bully and a bad friend. That fic is also tied with please remind me to forget you for the story I’m most proud of (this one is my Murdoch Mysteries story about William and Julia reconciling after she marries the wrong guy.)
They were both really interesting missing-moments stories that included letters (I’m a big fan of epistolary communication! letters are so intimate and personal!) and I don’t think most other writers would have published something like this. It felt exciting and special to focus on these parts of canon and expand them, exploring the characters’ curiosity and heartbreak at the same time.
7.  Work I’m least proud of (and why): Definitely i strung you a halo of stars, which is a collection of 4 stories I wrote for Supercorptober. I was really anxious and stressed when I wrote these stories, and I felt like I kind of had to “keep up” because it’s a fandom holiday and we had daily challenges. The writing became more about maximizing word count rather than enjoying writing, which is why I only did Supercorptober for about 5 days before quitting. I was just too busy and uninterested in the end.
8.  Share or describe a favorite review you received: Oh, I have so many! @nostradamus0 is kind enough to leave screaming reviews on many things I write (thank you for that, friend) and I also got a lot of really lovely reviews on Supercorp stories I wrote about parental trauma or forgetting your native language or struggling with anxiety.
I really like to write hurt/comfort and fluff combined, and it was so nice to see that my stories were able to comfort other readers who were also dealing with stress and hurt.
Aaaaand I got so many lovely reviews on the fics I wrote for Kataang or Heartstopper. I love being able to write things that entertain and make people happy. I’m quite good with banter (it’s my main thing and the easiest thing for me to write) and I insert it wherever possible.
9.  A time when writing was really, really hard: Supercorptober! I was pushing myself to do a monthly challenge when I had schoolwork and other stuff to deal with, and it just didn’t work out for me. I’m glad I quit so early. Quitting is good and quitters deserve hugs and chocolate. If you can’t sustain something, taking a step back and interrogating why is a good idea.
10. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you: Helly R from Severance. She is amazing. I would die for her. I wrote about her in my reputation precedes me, a ficlet about her character growth, and I can’t say anything more without spoilers. Severance is the best tv show I’ve ever seen. I don’t usually like thrillers/horror but Severance is light on both and it’s just so GOOD at exploring the ways that capitalism will devour you from the inside out.
11. A favorite excerpt of your writing:
this is a scene from (whoever said I would find someone new) must’ve never met you, a Supercorp fic set at a southern bar where Supercorp have broken up in the beginning and they get back together by the end.
I really loved writing Lena’s experience at this bar, The Great Beyond, and creating OCs who are all friendly and loving. I’m also just ... weirdly excited to write the OCs falling in love with each other because they are all gay? And I love a good queer southern love story.
Fuck. She should’ve just turned into bed early instead of driving out here to the bar, The Great Beyond, to say hey and good evenin’ to the regulars. Tim probably groaned when he saw her. Marcie in the corner cheered gently when she walked in. Lena always dances with her when it’s eleven and they don’t wanna go home yet. And then there’s Lucas, about to get his first tattoo, and Connor who keeps his guitar in the backseat. Just in case he figures out the bridge of the song he’s been writing since last year, y’know. He and Tim came up with the chorus together.
Connor won’t tell you he plays but he can sing you a story, rock you to sleep, take you on an old-timer’s tour of dreamland. Lena’s been before. She’s seen the milestones and skipped them across the pond. The road on the way there’s a little rocky, but it’s nothing she can’t handle.
Ashley sits front and center, welcoming the warm glow of orange light. Steph tilts back in her chair and offers once again to braid Ashley’s hair, or perhaps Lena’s. Steph had been laid off from the beauty salon last month. No luck since.
Lena said yes once, on a Saturday when she found an old receipt from the time she and Kara went and got ice cream at Braum’s, and Steph wiped her tears away with a ratty napkin before twisting Lena’s hair into a Celtic knot.
“No, I’m Irish,” Lena blurted, “and I dunno if I’m a Celt-”
Steph laughed. “Who’ll ever know ‘cept for you?”
12. How did you grow as a writer this year: I started writing for different fandoms instead of being strict with myself about “the core fandoms” that I had to stick to! I wrote shorter stories (like, 1500 words or less) because I liked it and I didn’t have time to do a big multichap fic. I branched out. I had fun while writing. I wrote meta for Grey’s Anatomy and Virgin River. I quit writing for The Resident because that show took a SERIOUS downturn in quality recently, and I don’t ever want to watch it again (if you know, you know.)
This was a good year and I had so much fun writing shorter stories, and different stories for various tiny fandoms.
13. How do you hope to grow next year: I want to get better at not defining success through the number of hits/words/comments/etc. a story has. Stories are allowed to exist just as they are. Less popular stories aren’t “bad” or “not worth my time.”
I also hope to finish up some of my unfinished multichap stories, and mayyyybe write more for B99 (I only wrote 1 B99 story this year, and it was meta rather than fiction, which is a big change from previous years when I wrote a lot of peraltiago fic.) AND I want to keep writing whatever I want, even if that means writing for new fandoms that I’ve never tried before.
I like writing things out of love I’m not a good visual artist; I’m not good with textiles or gifs or drawing, and I often wish that I could translate the images in my head to art on a page. But fic is one of the ways that I like to give back to fandom, collaborate with fandom, meet people in fandom. I love that I can have a fleeting idea and publish a story about it in the next 12 hours.
14. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):
@nostradamus0. It’s not even a question. He is lovely, and lets me scream at him about Kataang even though he’s never seen ATLA, and I can send him excerpts of my stories anytime.
15. Anything from your real life show up in your writing this year: EVERYTHING from real life shows up in my writing.
must’ve never met you was inspired by neotraditional country music of the 2010s/2020s (it’s great! it’s making a comeback!!!)
many of my supercorp fics are inspired by my cats and my narwhal painting (technically, it’s a poster of whales, but there’s a narwhal in there) and my desperate desire to have a lamp shaped like a jellyfish.
I constantly write scenes where people bake because I get frantic if I don’t bake for several days. Oh, and I also constantly write scenes where people daydream and write letters/letters and cherish the softness of their homes because I’m a gentle person.
16. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers: Uh, overusing italics is a really bad idea because it ruins the flow of your sentences. Getting a good flow often involves reading your work in your head so you can imagine the ups and downs of the words.
Writing takes time and you’re allowed to be frustrated that you’re not “better.” Give yourself time and space. Write as often or as rarely as you want.
Write down fic titles and AU ideas in a list in Google Docs because you may want them later. Don’t be afraid to be silly or gloomy or whatever; this is your blank page! Your words are the ink!!!!
Reading other people’s work, whether a published book or a fic or stuff like poetry, is a great way to get better at writing. Offering to be someone else’s beta reader, such as on AO3, is often a great way to make friends and learn more about writing. Oh, and try not to judge your writing too harshly. You still have so many good things waiting for you.
17. Any projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year: hmmmmmm I do have 2 peraltiago AUs (the you’ve got mail AU and the Jake-is-undercover AU) that I want to finish sometime in the future.
I also have several ATLA stories that are random memory-tangle-ideas (the Aang-Spiderman AU, the Katara is undercover as both a Kyoshi Warrior and the Painted Lady AU, the Kataang Mulan AU, the Zukka turtleduck petting zoo AU, the Zuko-emotional-support-dragon story) that I hope to write eventually! Or, at least, they will stay good dreams.
18. Tag some writers whose answers you’d like to read:
@nostradamus0, @chocomd, @flameohotwife, @dearestpartnerofgreatness
and anyone else who wants to participate! If you see this, you are free to do this tag if you like! <3

Okay, so I'm finally caught up with Villains of Valley View. Pretty good. I really liked the Jake + Starling subplot. As far as the rest? It didn't turn out to be my favorite.
More below, but please only read if you're open to one viewer's take on the show.
Okay. I wanted to like it. I was prepared to like it, especially with the response I've gotten regarding my theories after watching just a few episodes. Some of the characters, I really love!
HOWEVER, watching the show, I can't help but think I've seen these characters before. I've SEEN this show before, but starring different faces. The arc with Oculan/Declan and Amy being suspicious of him (ft. Hartley and Jake vouching for Dec and telling her he's trustworthy) is EXACTLY the Marcus - Leo plot of Lab Rats season one--Concert in a Can, to be more precise.
The relationship between Jake and Starling, the star-crossed lovers angle (with superheroes vs supervillains being metaphoric of interracial relationships) was Boy Meet World's Shawn and Angela's story. Bonus that Danielle Fishel (Topanga in Boy Meets World) is literally the director every time their story is explored.
Colby discovering new powers every week? Lab Rats seasons 1 & 2, with Adam, Bree, and Chase unlocking a bionic ability at almost each big moments of their lives. Bonus #2 that most of Colby's powers (invisibility, super speed) were literally Bree's bionic abilities.
Hartley making sure that the Maddens' first holidays are special? Essentially guiding them through this new world? Leo Francis Dooley had done that for Adam, Bree, and Chase.
With the exception of Eva, Jake, and Hartley, almost everyone is just a character reincarnated from an earlier work.
But, the biggest thing that makes me seriously not want to watch anymore is the subtle but still pronounced appropriation. I don't use that word lightly, but with this show... It's just hard to ignore.
And the fact that the "bad guys" of the show (yes - the superheroes are the bad guys of this show) are primarily people of color? No.
Also, what's up with the shots always cutting off when that one background student wearing a hijab enters the scene? Like, you see a bit of it just enough to know she's there, but then ??? Why not show her face? It's like they didn't want to commit to her inclusion.
So yeah. No. I've gone through all of this when Lab Rats was first airing *cough* and when they decided to kill off all the other characters of color in the Mighty Med universe for no reason *cough*. I don't want to do it again.
Might check back from time to time, but I might just drop it. Probably just going to stick to my various Marvel TV series.

HI EVEN IF IT'S A ONE SHOT WOULD YOU BE SO KIND AS TO GIVE SOME CONTEXT TO YOUR MOST RECENT GRUCY FIC. HOW MANY DAYS/WEEKS/MONTHS UNTIL THEY DATE.
the blurb this ask is referencing :-)
Hopefully for such enthusiasm, I will write a continuation!! But for now, that scene is sometime in the fall for our besties Luce and Greg and they will finally get together at their last spring formal around April/May. I'm not really sure what their big dramatic moment would/will be-- maybe a Troy and Gabriella moment à la HSM3 where Lucy's already left for an internship and Greg drives hours to confront her about their feelings and take her to the formal. Or maybe I stick with inspiration from my own prom story (which is too complicated out of context) and Greg asks Lucy, but then she ends up believing that he has a secret girlfriend and starts overthinking that their date is actually just as friends. Either way, it's sure to be dramatique.
So, they got about 6.5 months or roughly 195 days to go 🤠 And I'm a slow burn kinda gal so I imagine that the first spring formal happened when they're like 14-15 (pls don't ask me what grade or if they go to school in America or England bc frankly, I have no idea) and they finally get together at 18!

Hi, danhoemei.....if you don't mind me asking who are your favorite romantic relationship's couples in books/ manga/ anime/movies/tv series (canon or non-canon)? Sorry if you've answered this question before......Thanks....
Hello thanad-zid, the curious sweetheart 💚 I don't mind at all, you actually made me think about the series I haven't thought about for so long! (I'll answer excluding danmei because that's material for a whole separate post and I partly answered that)
19 days by Old Xian - tianshan
(and zhanyi who I love with my whole heart but tianshan is The One for me akjvsbdv)
Tumblr media
Tough on the outside but soft on the inside delinquent and the devilish lonely rich boy who'll go batshit crazy if his friends are in danger. Both of them learning to trust and very slowly showing their vulnerable sides to each other.... I can't say much, it's already a spoiler that they become closer because in the story they start as strangers or even "enemies". They're also secondary characters so they make appearance later in the story and gradually gain more importance (well, it started with them being secondary but tbh now they're one of the main characters with a lot of focus AND I AM SO HAPPY). But anyway, I am absolutely obsessed with them.
The original main pair (zhanyi) has completely different dynamic and vibe, but I love them and enjoy their story and relationship very much as well <3
Tumblr media
This series has such variety of multilayered characters who honestly could have their own separate manhuas. I absolutely recommend 19 days, it started like absolute crack but gained so much depth and action and angst and questioning yourself and 'am I abnormal for having feelings for you' and trust and progress in relationships and-
I love this manhua so much, please read it, if you enjoy danmei you'll enjoy it.
Their story by Tan Jiu
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You want a sweet story about a lesbiab who fell in love at first sight and then pursued her love interest, firstly becoming friends and learning about each other, everything among a lot of humor and shenanigans? Well here you go.
Brooklyn 9-9 - Jake and Amy & Friends - Monica and Chandler
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I see similarities so I put them together lmao. They are wholesome and sweet, support each other no matter what, work for their dreams and for people they hold dear. The guys are hella funny but also very smart and cool, the girls are intense and ambitious and need to have everything under control but are also very sweet and loving. The shows are light and hilarious, good as a stress relief.
The Good Place - Chidi and Eleanor
Tumblr media
First of all I recommend The Good Place in general, a wild ride of unexpected twists and turns, each reveal more “whaaat” than the previous one, with diverse representation and filled with philosophical questions and lessons, created by people who love philosophy. Its humor is incredible as well akjvndfv
Chidi and Eleanor are complete opposites - a nerd with severe anxiety issues who spent his whole life buried in books, and a bi disaster who partied hard, made a lot of bad things, and cared mostly about herself. They learn from each other and complement each other, all the while growing and changing right in front of our eyes.
Aggretsuko - Retsuko and Haida
Tumblr media
HAIDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA im love him your honor. Get a partner who can do both (be sweet and supportive, be badass and taking no bullshit). I truly believe they'd be happy and just right for each other, and I want them to be together 😭😭
Yuri on ice - Yuri and Victor
Tumblr media
akhdbsdjkfnlsdf if you watched this then you know why. I recommend it if you want a good quality lgbt anime with an interesting story, diverse characters, and beautiful skating scenes 💚 I love this wholesome duo so much T^T
Svvord of Truth - Richard and KahIan
I kinda feel like I owe it to them to mention them here, probably my earliest couple on this list. It’s an old high fantasy series which I read when I plunged straight into puberty, I haven't read it as a more mature person so I wonder if there are some harmful stereotypes I didn't see or how many typical tropes there are (well e.g. the main guy is so ridiculously overpowered and smarter/holier-than-thou, and there is a lot of black and white there) but also it’s a really complex world with interesting mechanics. However, what truly makes me remember this series fondly is because it was there with me when I was going through a lot of hardships, showing me a rich world with many people worth loving, strong women who I admired and strived to be, wise people of different backgrounds, cultures, and ages. It taught me how important it is to be kind and compassionate, that no matter how desperate your situation can get there is always hope and a way, that people who care about you will be there for you when you need them, and that you need to reciprocate as well. To always “think about the solution, not about the problem” which became the thing I repeat to myself every time I start struggling. The main couple also showed me what I want to strive for in a good relationship - support, understanding, standing by each other’s side no matter what, deep respect for each other and treating each other as equals, working for the relationship, and most importantly trusting each other. The series might be a typical high fantasy but for my growing and messed up mind it was a good teacher who reminded me of things we consider obvious but tend to forget, and might have played a significant role in who I am now.
Ok, I wanted to add a short bullet-point list of some other couples but this list is already long so let’s end here xd

his forever; andy barber
warnings: fluff, swearing, idk
pairings: andy barber x reader
part 2 of his comfort.
part 1
___________
Working in your office just like usual, you looked over at the door opening, and noticed a guy looking at you, you knew who it was, Jake, one of your best friends and one of the best colleagues.
"What're you doing Jake?" You asked and he laughed, you smiled at him, he was a very clumsy guy, but a very very nice man, he was like a brother to you, and you were like his sister ofc.
Recently he mentioned about his girlfriend, Amy, who was working with you too, and they were in love, they were so different but they were in love, it all started four years ago for them.
"Jake?! I know you need my help." You said and he acted shocked and then started rambling.
"What me? Jake? Never i can do anything —yes y/n i need your help!" He says and you laughed.
"Come on tell me, what is it about?" You allowed him to sit and he tells you everything.
"Four years ago, Amy and I got together, i just want to propose her." He says, you cover your mouth, and he looks around, you were closest to Jake, you were so happy for him, that he finally decides to make a move.
"Oh my god! Jake yes! I'm so happy for you!!" You said and he smiles looking at your expression. He hugged you and you were so happy for Amy for finally finding her forever in them.
"Alright, so i wanna chose a ring, and you were Amy's friend before Me, and i want you to help me, because you're also my best friend, like pleaseeeee?" He asked and you were glad to do so.
"Ofcourse Jakey! I would love to, when and where?"
"Today after work, we'll meet at the nearest Jewelry store okay?"
"Ofcourse! See you later!" You said and he hugged you again before leaving, and you got to work again, filling the paper work correctly, and later you got over it.
You walked out of your office, locking it, as your boss said that you need to lock it before you leave and you did it. You walked in the parking lot, and noticed the similar car.
You tried to ignore it before the window goes down, and reveals Andy, you smiled in surprise at how he came here, he gets out of his car, with a bouquet of a bunch of roses in his hand.
"Hey! What a surprise!?" You says as he hugs you, and kissed your forehead, and you smiled at how he would make you feel fresh after work with just an act of closure.
"Had to stop by to see my best girl." He says and you smiled.
"'Nuff the fake talk." You said and he rolled his eyes.
"Seriously, Y/n, you're my only family i have left with." He says and your eyes soften, he called you family and it was cute, at how expressive he would've become.
"Andy, aww!" You said hugging him again.
"Here are flowers for you." He says and you smiled.
"Thank you, really! They're my favorite!" You squeeled in excitement, and just then Jake came near you too.
"Hey! Y/n!" He called and you turned to him, and he smiled.
"Oh who's this?" He asked and you introduced them real quick.
"Jake, meet Andy, my best friend. Andy meet my work best friend, Jake." You introduced them and Jake shook hands with Andy.
"Great to see you, For real y/n I thought i was your best friend only in this world." He jokes and you laughed at Jake.
"Aww, poor Jake! Andy's got me in his life since forever." You said and he laughed with you, and right there Andy was broken for the second time in his life. He started falling for you, when you stayed at his place, on his bed, next to him, the next morning when he woke up next to you, you laying peacefully in his arms, your glow, your beautiful smile made him fall for you.
"Can we go for lunch?" Andy asked and you nodded
"Let's go!" You said as Jake whispered into your ears about meeting him after lunch. You sat down in his car, and he sat on the driver's seat, he looked tensed, but you felt that it was just work, probably.
Well it wasn't, he was jealous, after so many years, he felt jealous, when any other male got close to you, just so like Andy in school days back then.
For lunch, he chose your favorite restaurant, and you were just falling for him even more, everyday, and it felt so wrong for you, because he was so hurt, and wasn't probably looking for a commitment or a relationship but you wanted him so much.
You two were sitting and waiting for the waiter to get your food, and just when he tries to ask something the waiter comes in with the food, he sighs again focusing on the food.
"So, what, did Jake ...whisper in your ears?" He asked, while he took a bite of his food. A shocked smile over your face, Andy never asked who you talked to, or what did they say you, but he was interested for the first time.
"What?" He asks looking up, meeting your expression, which made him feel stupid.
"no-nothing! Jake wanted to see me, that's all." You said, that made Andy very mad, and very jealous at the same time. He hated Jake so much now, before even getting to know him.
"oh! t-that's fine, i guess..." he says and takes a bite of his food again, and starts to cough, you look at him, and go to his side, rub his back, and he breathes heavily, and you offered him water.
"you okay?" You asked and he nods, smiling at you.
Time passed, and you were at his place, while he prepared some coffee for the two of you, you were supposed to be seeing, Jake anytime he called, to help him ofcourse.
"Here you go!" He says, and offers you one cup of coffee, and you smiled, taking a sip of the special andy barber coffee. Andy always had a special way of making things, even if it was work, or food or anything, he would do it with his instructions which he makes up in his mind.
"So, how's work, assuming its great because you are." He asks and you chuckle.
"Pretty great, actually, how about you? How's everything, that dick still pushing you about things?" You asked and he clicks his tongue.
"Nah, he's fine, just because i put him to his place." He says and you scoffed. He loved that thing about you, when you rolled your eyes, annoyingly and scoff and mock him, he always used to melt at that sight.
Few minutes later, your phone starts to ring, and your attention turns towards your Phone, the contact read Jake, and you knew he needed you now.
"Sorry, i have to take this."
"ofcourse y/n." He says and smiles as you answered the call.
"Hey, i'll meet you near the shop." He said and you nodded.
"Alright, Jake, i'll see you there now." You said and Andy heard it, he wanted to know what was happening between you two. You ended the conversation, and looked at Andy.
"Hey, i-i have to go, now, i'll see you tomorrow?"
"Yes ofcourse, everything okay?"
"Yeah, just some work stuff." You replied, and picked your coat from the hook, near the door, and wore it before giving him the biggest hugs, and he kissed your head.
You left, and just 5 minutes later, Andy started to follow you, he knew it was wrong, but he was being jealous and possessive over you. He saw you park your car, and saw Jake waiting for you there with a huge smile at your sight.
Andy parked his car a bit far, from where he can see you, and just then, you hugged him. His grip tightened on the steering wheel.
"Hey!" You greeted him and embraced him in a warm hug. He hugged you back, and tangled his arm with yours, as a sweet, friendly nature. Andy looks at the shop you two were going, and it wad a jewelry store. He was curious, he felt like you were gonna marry him, or something.
He left. he couldn't take it anymore, and drove to his place, again, anger, jealousy took over him, he was so mad. At the sight of the vase in his house, he smashed it, angrily.
Jake started to ask you some questions while the staff packed his little surprise in the velvet box.
"So, your boyfriend?"
"What? Who?!" You asked and he gave you a huge smirk. You , still confused looked at him raising a brow.
"Andrew Barber, your hot asf boyfriend." He said and you blushed, the mention of his just makes you go crazy.
"We're just friends, nothing else.." you said and he scoffed.
"Yeah, alright Amy and I are also just friends."
"No! Really, there's nothing between the two of us." You said
"You love him don't you?" He asked and You smiled, looking at him.
"A lot." You said and he wraps an arm around you.
"He does too, i saw how jealous he looked when i wrapped an arm around you." He says and laughed along with you, and then you two got into work, again.
Meanwhile, Andy, He sighed and went to the kitchen to get a glass of water, and also a few beers, to lighten his mood.
The T.V played some random series, which he didn't pay attention to. One after one, Andy drank his drink, he was slowly feeling the light mood, which was him being drunk asf.
Soft laughs started to fall from his lips, which were your favorite, when he laughed like that, his hand losely fell over his phone, and he picked his phone in his hands, looking at it.
no missed calls, no messages, no replies nothing from you.
So what he did was dialed your number, and saw the pic of him and you together. Just then, you answered his call.
"Hey, Andy!" You smiled as Jake was now smirking at you. You two decided to have dinner with Amy, and that's where were you.
"Hey Y/n, you sound so beautiful." He says and you smiled.
"Thanks i guess!" You replied, his tone was different, and that wasn't really a very Andy-like.
"I love you so much! Don't marry Jake." He said and your heart literally stopped.
"W-what?" You asked
"I love you Y/n, i love you!!!! Don't you dare marry Jake! Or else i'll murder him." He yelled angrily.
"I'm not going to do that, Andy." You replied.
"Really? Oh god! I thought that i had to come down and ruin your wedding if you would marry him." He giggled and you were worried if he was okay or not.
"andy are you..drunk?" You asked and he laughed, you loved that laugh but right now you were concerned.
"No Y/n, i'm Andy, you literally just called me by my nAmEe." He says.
"Andy, baby listen to me—"
"You called me "baby" awww!! I love it!!" He says and you smile, jake and amy do a small "ooohhh" in the background.
"Yes i did, now listen to me, you'll be going to sleep now, okay?"
"i'll only go to sleep, if you say me you love me." He says and you sighed.
"Fine, I love you so much, Andy." You said and you heard his soft chuckles.
"I love you too, y/n, hell i love you so much more!!!! i'll go to sleep now, mwahh mwahh mwah." He says and passes out on the couch, and you ended the conversation. You only wished he really meant it, but he was drunk.
The night passes away, with a lot of twists and turns, and you decided to show up on his door, in the morning.
Him still passed out on the couch, heard the knock, and walks, thinking of who would be this early, at a weekend, but it was actually 11 a.m. a hand on his head, as the acts of previous nights decided to show its result.
He opens the door, and it revealed you, who just looked at him, and he just looks at you.
"Hey, come in." He says and you enter, and he goes in the kitchen. You look at him, as you sit on the couch near the kitchen counter.
"Fuck hangovers!!" He groaned, drinking water and you smiled.
"You wanna tell me something?" You asked and he looks at you confusingly.
"About?"
"Your assumption of last night?"
"Oh god—"
"You have 5 minutes, explain yourself!" You said.
"Okay, i know i made a mistake, I shouldn't have followed you , —"
"You followed me?! What?"
"Oh wait...you didn't know that?" He asked and you shook your head.
"What the fuck? Really Andy?!" You raised your voice and sighed and he scrunched his nose.
"I'm sorry Y/n, but listen, i know what I did was wrong, but please! I had my own reasons to do it."
"Why you think Jake's a bad guy? I work with him, since the past 5 years! Andy, he's like a brother to me!"
"Wait, Brother? Then what were you doing at the jewelers?"
"Jake wanted my help with the ring, so he could propose to his girlfriend, Amy!" You replied, and he sighed, slowly resting his fist on his forehead.
"What were your reasons?" You asked and he looked away, staying silent, and you sighed.
"I asked you a question, and I expect an Answer! Not a silent look!"
"Okay Fine! I love you! FUCK!" He yelled. Your expressions softened, and he felt like he ruined everything, he buries his head in his hands, and you cover your mouth, at how shocked you were
"Gosh! You must really hate me right now, I understand if you do—" just then you pressed your lips on his. Your arms slowly wrapped around his neck, and his arms around your waist, as he pulled you closer.
He was shocked, this was definitely not what he expected, but he really loved this. You pulled away, and rest your forehead against his. He smiles and you chuckled.
"I love you too, Andy." You replied and he kissed you again.
"I wanted this from so long!" He says and you smiled.
"Me too, but what you did was wrong, and Also, Jake was right about you being jealous of him." You chuckled and he sighed.
"I was, but you're only mine, so yes!" He says and you laugh, kissing him again.
"God please never stop doing that okay?" He replies making the both of you laugh.
Finally, after years both of you were together. Now you knew that whatever came through any of you or the both of you, you two can get over it together. You were happiest, it was definitely the best day of your life, and his too. With such a great day, comes great memories, and many great memories will be made, in the future, forever. You were his forever, already, and he was yours too.

heyy i've literally been on your blog for like 4 seconds BUT i saw some ships that i love, so - do you want to do a list of your OTPs from every fandom? partly because it could be fun for you, partly because i need more serotonin which i only get from finding new ships haha
omg absolutely! First of all, thank you for asking 💕
I just started writing and this ended up being super long *hides in shame* I hope you enjoy it ✨
I love so many shows and ships, so I'll list them all below but if you ask what my absolute favorites are, I'll just add "!!!" to the fronts of the specific ships that make my brain melt, bc of how fucking much I love them.
The number of ! indicates the amount of brain damage that ship has given me, which is directly proportional to how many hours I could go on and on about them as characters and them as a couple and how perfect they are for each other.
Alright let's do this.
I'll start with the classics, and then move on to lesser known ones:
!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Queer as Folk US - Britin (Brian x Justin)
!!!!!!! Harry Potter - Wolfstar (Sirius x Remus)
! Harry Potter (ot3) - Wolfstarbucks (Sirius x Remus x James)
Harry Potter - Jily (James x Lily)
Harry Potter - Drarry (Draco x Harry)
Harry Potter - Scorbus (Scorpius x Albus Severus)
look- I know jkr is problematic, which is why I don't give her money anymore. But fanfic is free and I grew up with these characters, I will not let go of them. I have SO MANY thoughts about wolfstar and the Marauders jfc I could go on for hours.
!!! BBC Sherlock - Johnlock (John x Sherlock)
And any adaptation of Sherlock Holmes tbh, the Guy Ritchie movies are also *chef's kiss*
!!!!!!!! Supernatural - Destiel (Dean x Castiel)
fair warning here: Destiel is my otp and I believe in endgame Destiel but as I've said before, Dean is my emotional support character, which means I ship him with basically anyone who is strong enough to lift him up against a wall 🤗 which includes but not limited to:
Supernatural - Denny (Dean x Benny)
Supernatural - Drowley (Dean x Crowley)
Supernatural - Dean x Lee
Supernatural - Dean x Lissa
Also, if you've never watched spn... Idk what to tell you, you're in for a wild ride. Because that show is BRILLIANT but ALSO and (I cannot express this enough) at the same time it is a trashcan on fire. If you've watched it, you know exactly what I mean.
Alright, let's move on:
!!!!! Shameless US - Gallavich (Ian x Mickey)
!!! Teen Wolf - Sterek (Stiles x Derek)
Teen Wolf - Scallison (Scott x Allison)
Teen Wolf - Allydia (Allison x Lydia)
Brooklyn 99 - Peraltiago (Amy x Jake)
Brooklyn 99 - Holt x Kevin
Brooklyn 99 - Rosa x Pimento
Welcome to Night Vale - Cecilos (Cecil x Carlos
Welcome to Night Vale - Michelle x Maureen
WTNV is a podcast, not visual media but if you haven't listened to it, do yourself a favor and do it now!!
Sense8 (ot3) - Hernando x Lito x Danny
Sense8 - Raj x Kala
Sense8 - Amanita x Nomi
Sense8 (ot3) - Raj x Kala x Wolfgang
Glee - Seblaine (Blaine x Sebastian)
Glee - Huntbastian (Hunter x Sebastian)
Glee - Brittana (Brittany x Santana)
Supergirl - Supercorp (Lena x Kara)
Supergirl - Karolsen (Kara x Jimmy)
The Flash - Thallen (Barry x Eddie)
The Flash - Westallen (Barry x Iris)
The Flash (ot3) - Westhallen (Eddie x Barry x Iris)
The Flash - Harmon (Cisco x Hartley)
Davinci's Demons - Leonardo x Lorenzo
... Aaaand, I think that's all I can remember for the fictional ones 🤔 some of these shows I haven't watched in yeeeears, but I thought I'd add them bc why not.
Now. That being said...
These next ones might be problematic. But I *do* actually ship some rpf... I KNOW SHAME ON ME.
Now, I want to make it very clear that I only engage in fan discussions, I read fanfic, and then I move on with my life. I DO NOT bring this up to the people involved, nor their families nor their friends nor their partners. And I hate when people do that. I know these are real people and not fictional characters so I don't harass them about this, nor do it bring it up to them in social media or their concerts or in any possible way.
I just enjoy my anonymous tinhatting with strangers online, and then I get off the internet, and go to work, and see my friends, and I move on with my life. I simply like the idea of these ships. I like to imagine, from whatever little information I have received about these people (based on what THEY themselves have made available for me and others to look at and overanalyize) I like to imagine that this people had been at one point or another romantically involved. But I honestly couldn't care less if they weren't. I'm just having fun reading fics online.
My rpf ships are:
Larry (Harry Styles x Louis Tomlinson)
Kaylor (Taylor Swift x Karlie Kloss)
Swiftgron (Taylor Swift x Dianna Agron)
and I guess for the sake of fairness I'll add:
Taylor Swift x Joe Alwyn (bc unlike some gaylors and bi-lors I DO believe they're together for real, and they make me believe in love 🥺)
... Aaaand that's it. That's all the people and characters I ship. 😬

“BEING JAKE AND AMY’S BEST FRIEND AND THE TWO ARGUING AS THEY BOTH WANT YOU AS THEIR BEST PERSON/PERSON OF HONOUR AT THEIR WEDDING (BROOKLYN NINE-NINE)”
gif // requester: anon // request here
Amy had already asked if you had a minute to talk during her lunch break, and just before you went out, you got a text from Jake asking the same thing. You texted him back just as you left work, telling him that you were meeting Amy just a few blocks away, and he could see you both there.
With Amy, you had a vague idea of what she wanted to meet about-- she had slyly asked you about your thoughts on being her best person at her wedding only a few days before.
When you arrived at the café, a place with outdoor seating that the three of you liked to frequent, Amy was already there, half reading the front page of the newspaper placed on the table next to her and you waved to get her attention.
“Amy!” you exclaimed, breathless from your walk over. “What’s up?”
“Well, I think you know,” she said as soon as you sat down in the metal chair. “Would you want to be my best person at Jake and I’s wedding?”
Just as you were about to answer, Jake popped up on the other side of the temporary fence separating your table from the sidewalk, slightly disheveled and leaning against the fence to catch his breath. “Hey guys,” he said, “sorry I’m late. So... y/n, I was gonna ask, while everyone’s here... are you up for being my best person at Amy and I’s wedding?”
“Oh my God,” you said, trying not to laugh as you stared down at the table. “Um...”
“I just asked them,” Amy said. “Right before you arrived.”
“What?!” Jake exclaimed. “No... I said I was going to ask them! Remember last night when I asked you what you thought their favorite color was?”
“What does that have to do with anything?”
“For their outfit!!”

oh please expand on sloppy cuddly drunk Jake 🥰
It’s Jakes big 4-0 birthday! Amy can tell throughout the day he is kinda miserable. He feels old. He keeps making jokes about it with the squad but she can see in his eyes that it’s bothering him. He’s mentioned it a few times in the months leading up to today that he’s nervous about what it means. Is he really getting old? He’s a responsible father after all. Is he...middle aged?
Of course not, as she reminds him. He’s as young as the day they met in her eyes. And it’s true. Not only does he (frustratingly) not physically age aside from a few streaks of gray and some charming smile lines, his youthful exuberance is ever present.
His mom watches Mac, and the squad throws him a bit surprise party at shaws. There’s food, drinks, and his favorite people (except for the little one, who isn’t quite old enough to see his dad after a few drinks)
The whole night he pretends it doesn’t bother him, but Amy knows better. He laughs and eats and gets a little more drunk than he normally would, and she can see that the age thing is getting under his skin.
Amy drives home, she’d taken it easy tonight, wanting to be clear headed in case he needed anything.
The apartment is quiet when they get back, since Mac is staying with his grandma. They stumble in, remnants of giddy laughter still echoing from their mouths.
Jake won’t let go of his wife, hanging on her every step of the way until they make it to the bedroom, where they tiredly strip to their undergarments and climb in. It’s late now.
“Ames?” Jake asks, and it’s a bit muffled since his face is smushed into her side.
“Yeah love?” She whispers back.
“Am I old?”
She smiles into the darkness, “Not to me.”
He sighs, “I’m 40. I’m really 40. Gross.”
“Babe, 40 is the new 25.” Amy assures him, “trust me. You’re in your prime.”
“You’re gonna leave me for some young puzzle maker model.”
Amy snorts, “Probably, but not because you’re old.”
“Ames!”
“I’m kidding I’m kidding! I love you Peralta, to me your the sexiest, youngest guy in the world. You always will be, even when you’re wearing diapers and farting around at bingo.”
Jake squishes up closer against her, his warm breath a few inches from her face, “Amy?”
“Yes?”
“Can we have another baby?”
Amy freezes, unsure if she’d heard him right. They’d discussed giving Mac a sibling before, but only in passing. Nothing serious.
“That won’t make you younger.” She whispers cautiously.
“It won’t, but it also will.” Jake says, “He’s so fun, Ames. He makes me forget the old people stuff. He makes me smile and look at all the good stuff. I wanna do it again.”
“I do too.” Amy admits.
“Let’s start now!” Jake eagerly replies.
“Slow down cowboy, you’re way too drunk for baby making.” She laughs, “maybe tomorrow old man.”
Jake mutters unintelligibly but grabs her and lays his head across her chest. He smells like tequila and old spice, but it’s not a bad combination.
Jake glances up at her in the dark, his big brown eyes wide and a bit hazy from the alcohol, “Y’know, getting old isn’t so bad. As long as I got you and the kid.”
“We’re here forever.” Amy promises him, “And you’d better let me get drunk on my 40th. This is scary.”
“It sucks.” Jake agrees, “But you make it better.”
“I’m glad.” She kisses his forehead tenderly, “close your eyes babe.”
“Love you.”
“Love you too grandpa.”
He makes an offended noise, but doesn’t speak any further. Amy just holds him the rest of the night as his breaths smooth out and his grating snore takes over.
Hopefully he won’t be too hungover for a little morning babymaking.

Would you write a story about Addison, Henry and Jake visiting Amelia for a few days and Ellis or Bailey or Zola being really jealous of Henry and that he calls her Aunty Amelia because she's their aunt and not his.
Homage
a/n: hi! thank you for the prompt and I hope you enjoy this!
---------------
"Who the hell is knocking on our door at 9 AM?" Amelia groaned, shifting her son onto her other hip. "Are your parents coming to visit again?" Link shrugged and pushed past her gently, rubbing his tired eyes as he opened the door and pulled on a mask.
"Hello-oh," Link's eyebrows rose, and Amelia paused from in the kitchen.
"Who is it?" She waited for a minute, pouring cereal into a bowl and placing it in front of Ellis at the table. "Elle, go grab the milk," she muttered, rushing towards the door.
"Amelia!" Her eyes widened at the familiar face in the doorway, and before she could think, she was rushing towards Addison for a hug.
"Addie, what the hell are you doing here? Oh, crap," Amelia pulled away and grabbed a mask from the table by the door.
"We all got tested this morning, don't worry. I came to visit you! You can't just have a baby and not expect me to visit; god, he's so adorable!" The red-headed woman held her arms out and grabbed Scout, immediately pressing her nose to his head. "I miss having a baby; their heads smell so amazing." Link laughed softly and pulled his mask off.
"Oh, Addie, you haven't met Link yet," Amelia leaned into his body, wide grins across both of their faces as he wrapped his arm around her.
"We've met over the phone, Amy."
"Amelia."
"Right, sorry. I knew if I called, you would've said no, and we all needed a vacation." Addison bounced her nephew up and down, smiling as he grabbed at her necklace.
"Is someone else here? You said we all," Amelia muttered under her breath, stepping out onto the porch. "Jake!" She ran down the steps and into the driveway, grinning as she wrapped her arms around her friend's neck.
"It's good to see you, Amelia," he opened the door to reveal Amelia's godson, much bigger than the last time she'd seen him.
"Henry! You're so big, now!" She picked him up, placing a kiss on his cheek before setting him down.
"I'll be honest; I never thought I would see the day when Amelia Shepherd was chasing four kids around all day," Jake mused, taking his son's hand. Amelia grinned.
"Neither did I, if I'm honest." They walked back up to the porch, where Link and Jake shook each other's hands firmly, their partners both rolling their eyes at the sight of their seriousness. "Okay, are you done?" Amelia grabbed her boyfriend's arm. "There are three very impatient kids in that house, and we should probably get back in there." They led Addison, Jake, and Henry into the house, introducing each of them to the children. Eventually, Link and Jake led all of the children outside, leaving Addison and Amelia alone with the baby.
"I like him," Addison brought her mug of tea up to her lips, taking a sip slowly before continuing. "Link, he seems like the perfect guy. Awfully tall, though."
"He is. Both tall and perfect," Amelia grinned. "I'm waiting for Jake to come back in here and tell me what he thinks. He was always a little overprotective of who I was dating, so if he can get past Jake, everything's fine." The neurosurgeon lifted her son from his play mat, holding him close to her as she approached her sister again.
"He looks exactly like Derek when he was a baby."
"You think?" Addison nodded.
"Mhm. I spent far too much time in your mother's house panning through dusty photo albums and staring at photos of him as a baby to not see it." She set her mug down, holding her arms out. "Have you told your Mom?"
"I did. She said she'd come and visit after the pandemic is over, but I'm pretty sure that'll never happen," Amelia handed Scout to her sister, picking up her own cup of tea. "I'm fine with it. Link's parents are both great, and his Mom honestly treats me like the daughter she's never had, so I don't need my Mom to come out here and validate all of my life decisions."
"You want her here. I said the same thing for a while, telling myself I didn't need Bizzy to approve of anything, but it feels good to have the support." Amelia sighed, easing her empty mug into the kitchen sink.
"So, you just showed up here to therapist me? I would've told you to at least bring Violet for that."
"Amelia, I'm just saying. You've built this whole life for yourself, the perfect boyfriend, your own family, your dream job, and I know you haven't always been close with your biological family."
"Haven't ever been close," Amelia muttered.
"Still. That doesn't mean that you can't build relationships with them. Think about how spoiled Scout would get on every birthday and holiday; gifts from his grandparents, aunts, cousins, friends, parents, everyone." The neurosurgeon shrugged her shoulders and remained silent. "But, whatever happens, you know I'll be here for you, right?"
"You don't have to try and parent me anymore; you know that?" Addison began to pace around the kitchen space, bouncing Scout up and down to calm his light fussing.
"I still feel protective over you, Amelia. I haven't seen you in person in years, and we both know that talking over the phone is so much different than being able to see you. I'm going to be coming up here a lot more often now; I have Scout as an excuse to come and visit." Scout cooed at the sound of his name, placing his tiny hand on Addison's face. "He's way too adorable for me to see all of his life through a screen. I'll be coming up at least three times a year."
"You've gotta bring Henry every time, too," Amelia looked outside, where her boyfriend was chasing her godson around the yard. "And Jake. I missed all of you; maybe Link and I will start coming down to L.A. a few times a year. He'd love to go surfing."
"Mm, maybe you two should just move down there." Amelia rolled her eyes.
"Well, if Meredith doesn't get better, Link and I get custody of the kids, and I doubt we'd be moving if that happens."
"For whatever it's worth, you're doing an incredible job with all of them. Having a newborn is no joke, and you're parenting three other kids during a pandemic on top of that? Charlotte keeps saying it's your payback for teasing her about the triplets." The door opened, and Link walked through with Ellis on his back, her giggles causing everyone to smile.
"Someone took a nasty fall, but we thought it would be better with a juice box," he walked towards the fridge and opened it, leaning down so Ellis could grab a juice box from the refrigerator.
"Auntie Amelia?" She looked over to see Henry standing in the doorway. "Can Scout come outside to play with us?" Amelia grinned and took Scout from her sister, walking over to where Henry was standing.
"You have to be super gentle with him," she whispered, leading Henry back outside. "Why don't I give Scout to your Dad, and he can make sure that everyone's being safe, okay?" Henry nodded enthusiastically and ran over to his father, tugging at the leg of his pants as Jake took Scout. "If he fusses, just walk around. The movement calms him down."
"Are you all gonna come back outside or just pawn off all the children on me?" Amelia laughed and crossed her arms over her chest, watching as her son snuggled into Jake's body.
"I'll go get Addison and Link," she muttered, heading back over to the door and calling for them.
"Auntie Amelia? I have a question," Ellis whispered, holding her arms up to her aunt. Amelia lifted her and sat down at the picnic table.
"What is it, Elle?"
"Why does Henry call you Auntie Amelia? You're my Auntie Amelia, not his." She shook her head in amusement, brushing back some of Ellis' blonde hair.
"Well, Addison is my sister too, just like your Mom is, so I'm Henry's Auntie, too." Ellis pouted her lip out.
"But you love me more, right?"
"I love you all, Elle; I don't love one of you more than the other." Amelia began to braid her niece's hair as she spoke, Ellis' eyes falling to where Link was playing with Henry and Bailey. "You're my niece, and Henry is my nephew. Just like I'm your aunt, and Maggie is also your aunt. That doesn't mean that you love one of us more,"
"You're my favorite Auntie." Amelia laughed softly, biting her lip to hide the satisfaction she felt.
"Well, I don't have a favorite. I love all of you, but I'm excited to see Henry right now because I never get to see him. I get to see you every day, Elle." The brunette tied a hairband around her niece's hair and hugged the girl lightly before standing up. "Let's go play with them, okay?" Ellis took her hand, and they walked over to the playscape, where Ellis quickly scampered up the ladder to the top of the structure. "How long are you staying?" She asked Jake as he paced around the lawn, bouncing Scout up and down.
"We're up here for a week. Figured we'd spend some time with you, go up to Mount Rainier, just do anything to give Henry a change of scenery." He moved to stand next to Amelia. "I like Link. He seems good, more relaxed than I expected for someone you'd be dating." Her mouth fell open before quickly turning up into a smirk.
"Hey, I haven't managed to corrupt him yet. I'm sure next time you come to visit, he’ll be a pessimist."
"Are you happy? Because last time I saw you, this was the life you didn't want to live. Every time someone brought out a baby, you'd practically gag and complain about women and babies."
"You know, I never thought I wanted this, but honestly? I wouldn't trade it for anything." She looked over at her son, his bright blue eyes staring back at her. "I'm happy, Jake. I really am."

Movies I watched this week - 39
I spent over 50 (!) hours on the sofa this week, (enjoying myself 85% of the time)...
Sløborn, an ominous Danish-German TV pandemic series, very much like Soderbergh’s ‘Contagion’ and in ‘Black Mirror’ style. Normal life of a small island community between Denmark and Germany breaks down and completely collapses when it is hit by a lethal bird flue like virus.
It was extremely prescient, as it was shot in 2019, before Covid! Conceived as Si-fi, it looks today like TV, because the series was able to capture everything that happened around the world after January 2020 in accurate details.
With Roland Møller (of ‘Riders of Justice’). 7+/10
✴️
My introduction to “The grandmother of The French New Wave”, Agnès Varda (Hard to believe that I never saw her films before!):
✳️✳️✳️ “Inspiration, Creation and Sharing...” Varda by Agnès, my first Varda is her last 2019 auto-biography, in which, at 90, she shared footage and stories from her life and work. The first sample clip (of meeting her Uncle Yanco in Sausalito) won me over, and the rest convinced me to catch up on everything I’ve missed through the years. What a wonderful artist!
✳️✳️✳️ Cléo from 5 to 7. A feminine film about female identity - a new favorite! A beautiful singer must wait 2 hours for the results of her cancer tests. With a magnifique mid-film scene (at 0;38) of the heartbreaking chanson 'Sans Toi', marking the beginning of her quiet transformation.
✳️✳️✳️ Vagabond, a story of a lonely, young woman, an unapologetic drifter, unglamorous, aimless, independent, desperately lost. Dark and nonjudgmental exploration of the refusal to conform to anything. 8+/10.
✳️✳️✳️ (For Sammy - Per our conversation). The Gleaners and I, "The eighth best documentary film of all time”, per ‘Sight & Sound poll. Derived from the famous painting by Millet. Simply wonderful!
✳️✳️✳️ One Hundred And One Nights, 100 year old Michel Piccoli “Monsieur Simon Cinema”, hires a young girl to reminisce with about the history of cinema. An unsuccessful Meta-film that nevertheless is a love letter for cinephiles. Populated by 3 dozens of Who’s Who of French (and World) stars, playacting in this symbolic, Fellinisque fable that draws upon the classics. Mastroianni, Depardieu, Belmondo, Alain Delon, Catherine Deneuve, Jeanne Moreau, Anouk Aimée, Fanny Ardant, Gina Lollobrigida, Jane Birkin, etc, etc..
(Photo Above).
✳️✳️✳️ The Young Girls of Rochefort, the wonderful, colorful, sentimental musical by Varda’s husband Jacques Demy, with the most beautiful woman in the world and her sister. Romantic eye candy set to music by Michel Legrand. A year later Deneuve would do Belle de Jour, and Françoise Dorléac would die in a car accident, 8+/10
✳️✳️✳️ Even better, The Young Girls Turn 25, Varda’s 1993 behind the scenes documentary and return to small town Rocheford, to show how it changed the town and left an impression. 9/10
“...The memory of happiness is perhaps also happiness...”
✴️
The other Jacques Demy modern opera The Umbrellas of Cherbourg knocked me over all over again. Catherine Deneuve’s angelic beauty in this film made me cry for the duration like a baby. And not only at the train station when they say goodbye forever.
10/10
✴️
Night moves, a tense thriller by Kelly Reichardt, about three radical environmentalists who blow up an Oregon dam. Slow and tense, and like her ‘First Cow’, watching it filled me with constant, low-level anxiety. The off-screen sabotage is placed at the exact mid-point of the movie: The first half is the preparation for it, and the second half shows the aftermath of the act. 7+/10
✴️
2 unexpected Small Town gems by Miguel Arteta:
✳️✳️✳️ The good Girl, an odd and surprising mismatched romance between 30 year old Jennifer Aniston and Jake Gyllenhaal (22) as employees of a Texas big-box store that is always empty. Her voice-over reminded me of True Romance’s Alabama Whitman. 7/10
✳️✳️✳️ Ed Helms, a sheltered insurance salesman from the backwaters of Wisconsin, goes to an convention in the big city of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The nearly conventional story arc has some genuinely heartfelt funny moments. With Maeby Fünke, as Bree the prostitute and Sigourney Weaver as the ex-teacher he balls. Also a surprising drug party, where he smoke crack cocaine and loves it. 5+/10
✴️
Same theme of people prostituting their own ‘morals’, the notoriously-prudish 1993 Indecent Proposal didn’t age too well. “Billionaire”-porn that asks the question ‘How much would you pay for one night with Robert Redford?’ Gratuitous semi-naked Demi Moore included.
Related: “Stop hitting the button!”
✴️
Wildland (Kød & blod = Flesh and blood), an uncomfortable and claustrophobic Danish gangster thriller about a 17 year old girl who moves in with the criminal family of Sidse Babett Knudsen, her estranged aunt. 6+/10
“For some people, things go wrong before they even begin”
✴️
Jim Jarmusch‘s Broken Flowers, a touching road film with Bill Murray, as an old ‘Don Juan’ who receive a pink, unsigned letter from an old lover, letting him know that he has a 20 year old son he never knew about.
Loveliest film of the week.
✴️
The 2 films directed by Tom Ford:
✳️✳️✳️ A single Man, a sad and lonely gay professor, closeted in 1962 Los Angeles, is preparing to kill himself with a gun, after his boyfriend / love of his life had died in a car accident. Mute and haunting aesthetics in the fashion designer’s debut film, based on a Christopher Isherwood novel.
The ‘Stormy Weather’ dance scene between Charley and George. 8/10
✳️✳️✳️ Nocturnal Animals: Amy Adams is an unhappy owner of a fancy art gallery who receives a disturbing book manuscript written by her ex-husband, which symbolizes their relationship 20 years prior. Rarefied visuals and distinctive style.
Starts with an astonishing scene of obese old ladies dancing naked at Amy’s gala event. Michael Shannon rules as a dying Texas detective! 6+/10.
✴️
Jean Vigo’s 1933 classic Zero for Conduct was so blatantly anarchistic, it was immediately banned in France until after WW2. In silent film style, it tells about a group of mischievous kids who rebel against the authorities of their old-fashioned boarding school. Part-inspiration for Truffaut's 400 Blows.
✴️
Anatomy of a murder, Otto Preminger’s 1960 courtroom drama, with opening credits by Saul Bass. Crisp black & white cinematography, and with rape victim Lee Remick playing it as an outgoing loose girl of ambiguous morals, a modern floozy. 7/10.
✴️
Blush, a wondrous, spectacularly-animated, wordless short by Joe Mateo. What starts as a riff on ‘The Little Prince’, ends up like the opening montage from ‘Up’. The obvious realization that this is a personal metaphor makes the story even deeper.
I watched it twice back to back. 10/10
✴️
If You're Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast - 95 year old Carl Reiner asks a bunch of charming nonagenarian friends how they manage to live so well for so long. Their answers may (not) shock you...
Spry Dick Van Dyke (92) and half-his-age wife end the film with a lovely rendition of “Young at heart”
✴️
Hi-school-level adaptation of Thomas Piketty's book Capital in the 21st Century. A breezy discussion of how slave economy and colonialist military repression 300 years ago turn into extreme capitalism of inequality & tax-avoidance today. America is now similar economically to what England was in the early 1800s. A tiny percentage of society controls almost all its wealth. (Full text of the book here).
✴️
Ride the eagle, a flat new indie about a guy whose estranged hippy mother leaves him her cabin at the lake when she dies, but only if he complete a certain list of tasks. Could be so much better, but the actor playing the guy was just so terrible. Unlike JK Simmons who had a small role. Best detail, when he discovers that all the cabinets in the house are full with pot.
✴️
Old, my first, (and possibly last), M. Night Shyamalan. The seductive premise of a secluded beach at a fancy tropical resort that ages everybody who comes there, turns into an unconvincing Twilight Zone bore.
...”(Gurgling sounds)”...
✴️
First watch: I never saw (any) Planet of the apes before, and in spite of my misgivings, gave it a go. 100% anthropomorphic, it couldn’t visualize a universe different from the American mindset of that period. Preachy and very Rod Sterling-like. "It's a madhouse in here”. Pass!
✴️
The latest Veritasium YouTube video about bowling current technology. Always interesting.

supercut, i’ll be your favorite scene
Here it is: THE KITCHEN COUNTER FIC™️
Hope you guys like this pile of filth and feel free to share your 😌thoughts😌 in the tags or in my indbox/ask! I’d really love to hear them!! For context: takes place during Season 6, Episode 6: The Crime Scene!
Also do I need to make a disclaimer saying that I know Jake would never intentionally neglect Amy yada yada...? You know the drill.
Enjoy!
READ ON AO3 HERE (RATING E)
It had been going on for weeks now and by then it was safe to say that Amy was getting fed up with the situation. Ever since this mysterious, seemingly unsolvable case had started consuming Jake’s every thought, move and decision, Amy had felt somewhat neglected. Her husband was of course still, as always, sweet and caring but lately the case had completely overtaken his life and Jake spent more hours twisting and turning every clue than he spent being paying attention to Amy – or anything that wasn’t case files or clues, for that matter. It’s not that Amy needed attention, like some child screaming for affection, but she was worried for her husband’s health and, even if it felt silly to say, their intimate life.
Sure, they’d kiss good morning, goodbye and hello but especially the past few weeks Jake had more often than not fallen asleep atop of the case files at the dining table rather than in bed with her. Naturally Amy felt many things: impressed by her husband’s dedication and hard work but also worried and frustrated… in more than one way.
One night, another one of those spent alone in bed with Jake sitting at the dimly lit dining table, Amy was done being cool and reasonable; fact was that she missed her husband and she was shamelessly horny. It didn’t take long for her to make a decision: tonight, four drink-Amy, minus the drinks, was going to make an appearance.
“Hey, babe,” she spoke softly with a sweet, curious air, keeping her ulterior motives hidden, as she wandered into the living/dining-room in her pajamas and pink nightrobe. Her steps brought her up behind him and when he finally came within her reach, she made sure to slide her hands onto his shoulders with extra grace and tenderness, softly squeezing them to hopefully give him a taste of the tender touch he surely had a craving for though he currently was too stressed to act on “What are you doing?”
A beat of silence.
“Just working the case,” he mumbled tiredly sounding unaffected by her presence.
It was going to take more work than what she’d originally intended to put into it, but Amy was more than willing to put in the extra work; she did love a good challenge.
“I see that,” she added bending over to wrap her arms around his torso and rest her head on his shoulder as to get a closer look at his work… amongst other things. He was only wearing his flannel and boxers, perfect, she couldn’t help but think.
“You’re working so hard, babe,” she stated sweetly making sure it went straight into his ear. “Don’t you want to relax a bit?”
Her hands stroked his chest smoothly sliding over to play with the top buttons of his flannel, the same flannel he’d worn yesterday, she couldn’t help but notice. Alas this wasn’t the right moment to mention this.
“I can’t,” he flipped over a page to scribble down whatever information crossed his mind. “Not right now.”
“But that’s what you’ve been saying every day for the past few weeks now. Working yourself too hard won’t do you any good, you know… It can affect your way of thinking.”
A peck to his neck was basically Amy begging for his attention, for some kind of reaction to both her words and actions, but it never came.
“I’m fine, Amy. I just need to get this done.”
Scribbling and flipping of pages continued even so, as if she was air, and Amy, more than ever, was now growing awfully frustrated about the situation. Never before, at least while they’d been together, had Jake been blunt and cold towards her like this. Of course, she knew it wasn’t personal, and that it was all tied to the case and the promise he’d made to the victim’s mother, but still she couldn’t help but feel rejected. Rather than letting it get her down, it did the exact opposite and fueled her inner flame.
This problem was only not solved because it was demanding new, more bold, methods.
“But…” she swiftly as ever popped open a few buttons of his flannel “… don’t you think you would be able to think clearer…” she slid a hand down his now revealed chest before continuing to lure him in with sultry words and notes “…if you just let me help you feel good for a bit.”
Gosh, his skin felt so soft and so good, even after all these years, and oh how she just wanted to bite into it, scratch it red and raw with her fingers till both their hearts exploded.
“Amy, please. I love you but I need to keep working on this.”
Ouch. Her hand froze just above his belly button before removing itself. At least he said something kinda nice, she thought referring to the I love you, but this wasn’t enough. I love you wouldn’t have her writhing and screaming till climax.
First attempt was a lost cause but luckily, in a twisted way, Amy was furious and desperate. Vanishing back to their bedroom without another word, boiling with both lust and frustration, the woman proceeded to plan B; and plan she hadn’t really planned but quickly came up with.  Said plan was hiding in a paper bag in the back of her closet and she’d actually planned on revealing it to him on Valentine’s day but enough was enough: now would have to be the right time.
Said plan started ten minutes later when she waltzed down the hall and back into the dining/living room wearing the same night robe as before. Only this time she was wearing something else underneath: something fiery red and shamelessly lacey.
“If you’re going to stay up all night drilling this…” Smooth, Amy. She planted a few candles on the table before him before lighting them, making sure to bend over just enough for the dip in her robe to reveal what was hiding underneath, “…then lets at least make it nice and cozy for you.”
“Thanks, babe, but no need to. Just go back to bed and I’ll join you there later.”
He didn’t look up, not as much as a quick glance and Amy could feel her blood beginning to simmer in her veins from wanting her husband’s attention and touch so badly. He couldn’t be serious? He couldn’t not notice how she was basically begging for him, could he?
With a firm grip, in one smooth motion, she pulled out the chair besides him and sat down before slowly untying the knot of her robe as her eyes watched him, attentive, hoping see his reaction when he saw the surprise she was presenting him.
Slowly, oh so slowly, she peeled apart the robe and let it slide off of her like ice cream melting on a sunny day. The fabric fell to the floor without a sound and there she sat, half-naked and more inviting than ever before in her life.
Not that she’d tried to be discreet before, but she was now so very obvious about her intention that he couldn’t possibly let it slide. And if she wasn’t obvious enough then the way the red silky fabric enhanced her skin’s warm undertones while the black, soft lace complimented the curves of her breasts and thighs certainly were. All things she’d considered upon picking out the set. The gleam from the candles danced in the reflection of the silky fabric and Amy Santiago was more than impossible to overlook.
“Why don’t you join me in bed… now?” She bit her lip smiling while her fingers played with a lock of her dark hair.
“Babe, I’m really trying to work here. Please.”
He almost sounded annoyed with her as he scrolled through his phone, looking for whatever could be more interesting than her.
Anti-climatic was not the word; this was way worse, Amy was sure of it.
How could he do this to her? There she sat, exposing herself, metaphorically and literally, and all he could think of was work! Maybe she should try to be reasonable, consider how he felt in his situation with this specific case, but enough was enough! She pushed herself out of the chair and stomped off to the kitchen. At first she didn’t know exactly why she headed to the kitchen… Perhaps she just wanted to get away from him but then again, she could’ve just gone to the bedroom. The doubt faded the minute she saw some unpacked groceries, more specific carrots, on the counter. Standing there in the kitchen in her very lingerie at 1 AM feeling like a sad, rejected porn star, she found her Plan C and felt that there was no other way. Amy Santiago did what she had to do: grabbed a bunch of carrots, picked out the tiniest, crummiest knife she could find, a cutting board and started chopping.
Noisily. Over and over again. Repetitive and loud.
“Ames, what are you doing?”
A reaction – good. She looked up, just barely, through her eyelashes only to be met by the sight of her husband still not caring enough to look at her properly.
“Felt like getting a snack, that’s all…”
She kept chopping, faster, harder and most importantly: louder. Carrot after carrot, way too many, but she figured they’d just eat it some other time. For now it was all about pestering him, getting on his nerves as he on hers. Ten seconds went by… Twenty… Thirty…
Chop. Chop. Chop.
“Amy-“
Another loud cut interrupted him. Amy didn’t even bother to cut into proper shapes or sizes. It was all about the sound.
Forty… Fifty…
“Amy, could you please stop!”
Finally.
She smiled to herself at the sound of his snarl, hearing the specific shade of Jake Peralta she’d waited for all night long. Her eyes were still glued to the carrots on the cutting board before her and, she knew, if she looked up, she’d see her husband stare right at her. God, she loved their open kitchen-dining room.
“Why don’t you come over here and make me?” She challenged hoping to make it the tipping point.
Then she looked up and as predicted, her husband was staring at her with a newly arrived squint and dark look in his eyes. It seemed as if his frustration had finally opened his eyes to what was really going on: his wife was in their kitchen almost completely naked, wearing only the skimpiest lingerie, and he’d been stupid enough to look past it. Their eyes met: his angry and storm full, hers playful and hungry, begging.
Right then and there a pin could’ve dropped to the ground and it would’ve made the ground shake and sound like an explosion. The tension was thicker than quicksand and it was only a matter of seconds, an unbearable staring contest, before the sound of Jake pushing back his chair cut through it like a knife.
He slowly walked, as if he was planning his every step, around the counter dividing the dining area and kitchen area, and Amy could feel herself beam with excitement at the muffled sound of his steps.
“What did you just say?” Jake’s voice was low, a few tones deeper than usual, something he only did when he was angry or during sexy timez.  “Think twice before answering me.”
His hands slowly slid onto her almost naked hips feeling the arousing sensation of the lace beneath his fingers. She was trapped between him and the counter before her, on purpose, she could tell and God, she loved him like this. After years of being together it was no secret to either of them that Amy, as much as she enjoyed being dominant and in charge, loved playing the play of the submissive one, the one getting told what to do. Something, if put in the right mindset, her husband handled very well. Key word: handled. Tonight, she needed to be handled. By him… With care? No, they were way beyond stage. Amy was buzzing with impatience. This needed to be properly balanced with the nature of the moment; a tempered Jake who would not put up with being told what to do. Not tonight.
“I didn’t say-“ her breath hitched interrupting herself when she felt him lean his body against her from behind, leaving no room behind him and her, and her and the counter, before letting his right hand slide along the top hem of her panties. “I didn’t say anything. I was just c-cutting-“
His index finger tugged on the elastic hem.
“Cutting carrots,” she breathed out nervousl and he picked up on it.
“Is this cool? Safe word?” he quickly added.
“It’s perfect and ‘Manhattan’ as usual.”
“Okay good,” he pecked the shell of her ear as a sign of approval before picking up where they left off.
“Hmm,” he hummed removing his finger knowing it’d disappoint her. “I don’t think that’s entirely true.”
“Oh,” she whimpered in reaction to his words being breathed against her sensitive neck. While being distracted by his breathy taunts Amy had completely failed to notice the hand sliding down the right leg of her panty. Here, when down low enough, his index finger had crooked itself around the center section of the garment to pull it to the side and reveal her forlorn womanhood.
Tonight wasn’t going to be a long night of slow fucking, they both knew, but Amy was still surprised when she almost right away felt two fingers part her folds, automatically coaxing her into submission.
“I have barely touched you…” he spoke with a voice so soft and in no way is a match to the sinful activity happening further down her body, “…and you’re already this wet.”
No words, only sounds of strain and pleasure, were to come from Amy. Jake was in charge now and he would make the calls tonight. All she could do was wait and obey.
“You’ve been such an annoying little pest all night and I thought it was just because you were bored, when in reality- “
“Jake,” escaped her in the form of a breathy declaration, in a moment of weakness in reaction to his finger’s Godsent work, interrupting him and this usually wasn’t well received, not in a scene like the one they found themselves caught up in, but Jake was too pleased with the display of his effectiveness to reprimand her. Instead, he just smiled to himself and made sure to stroke the exact same spot over and over again feeling her get weak in her knees.
“When in reality you just, so desperately, need to be fucked.”
To prove his point, he leaned a bit more of his weight onto her forcing her midriff up against the counter. His fingers still had room to work thus moving with more and more ferocity.
“Am I right, Amy?”
Eyes closed, mouth agape and head bent back to rest against his shoulder, it was safe to say that Amy was in another world. Yes, she heard the loud rumbling that was the sound of his voice, but his fingers were louder than anything else happening at that moment. If it wasn’t for the fact that he had her trapped she would’ve been grinding for more, used her body to get a better feel of his touch. Alas she’d have to earn it some other way.
“Amy,” he scolded bringing her attention back to his demands. “Tell me. Am I right?”
His hand not stroking her heat slowly started playing with the upper edges of her panties, pushing them down her curves in the process.
“Y-yes,” came out in a voice so breathy that the word was barely audible, and Jake could only just hear it because he stood as close to her as he did.
“Thought so,” he bluntly approved her answer and removed his fingers from her heat to allow himself to push the panties down entirely, letting them to fall off of her and onto the cold kitchen floor. Amy could feel the bulge in his boxers pressed against her now bare ass and it killed her to not be able to grind against it, to feel it properly.
“So…” he used his now wet fingers, glistening with her juices, making sure to trail them across her skin, to slowly push her hair to the side and leave him room to kiss the back of her neck. “Now that you’ve so selfishly interrupted me and the important work I was doing, just because you just can’t behave and wait to get fucked…”
Amy’s voice hitched, loudly even, in reaction to his words. Dirty talk had definitely moved up a few spots on her favorites list when her and Jake got together; he was so good at it and it made her want to play along.
“… there are two ways things can go now: either you pull yourself together like a good girl, let me get back to work and wait in bed…”
Amy did not like the sound of that. Nonetheless she bit her tongue and instead of fighting him she focused on the soft feeling of her husband’s breath dancing against her sensitive skin as his hands stroked her stomach, slowly inching themselves upwards towards her breasts.
“… or I give you what you need. Right here, right now.”
There was a moment of silence where Amy considered whether she should actually answer or let him make a choice for her. Did he want her to speak up or was it a trap?
“Tell me, Amy,” he scowled at the exact same moment as his hands reached her chest and latched themselves onto her still lace-clad breasts. “Tell me what you need. I’m not gonna ask again.”
“N-now, p-please” her stutters were weak, but they were there and she could only hope it was enough. They held so much desperation and honesty.
Meanwhile Jake feverously caressed her breasts, pinching her nipples through the thin, lacy material. Then, quickly running out of patience, he basically ripped the straps and cups down as to finally gain full access to this part of her he loved so much.
“Okay,” he pecked the back of her neck. “Can’t believe you’re so desperate that I get to fuck you right here on the counter.”
Jake definitely sounded smug, pleased with the situation, and Amy would’ve been be lying if she’d said she didn’t feel the same way… even though she couldn’t say it. They’d had sexcapades in the kitchen before but never like this and Amy was filled to the brim with excitement.
“God, I wanna see you on your knees with your lips stretched around me so bad but you’re just so ready for me, Ames… It’s too good to put off for much longer. Can you feel how ready I am for you?”
In case she hadn’t already noticed his hard on pressed against her bare ass Jake grinded into her and Amy very quicky came to hate his boxers even more, wishing she could just rip them off of him, and definitely let out a whimper at the needed touch. The full control he had over her was both everything she wanted and everything she dreaded; all she could do was hope that he’d fulfill her wishes for her.
Finally, as if a shooting had crossed the sky and heard her wishes, she felt one of his hands move away from her breast and relocate to push down the cursed material that kept her from being able to feel him properly. An outline trapped behind fabric was always promising but nothing could ever beat the feeling of Jake’s freed length.
“So ready…” he mumbled under his breath as he, impressively so, used one hand to fiddle open the clasp of her bra while the other was busy stroking his length. Given their current position there were things he had to take care of himself – many things, apparently. With both of his hands being busy paying attention to something that wasn’t her, Amy honestly wasn’t too pleased with the situation even though she knew it would pay off; she could already imagine, almost feel, the cool surface of their marbled countertop pressed against her torso causing goosebumps to rise across her entire body.
Thud. Finally, the strain around her chest disappeared as her bra joined the rest of their (limited) garments on the kitchen floor, soon to be forgotten by both Jake and Amy. Jake did still have his flannel on, barely hanging on by one closed button, but the parts of them that mattered were free and ready for tonight’s purpose.
She felt him take a tiny step back, away from her, and she was just about to let out a whine when suddenly her entire body quaked in response to his right hand giving her ass a firm squeeze before allowing it to run all the way up her spine, slowly and with great intentions in mind.
“Bend over.”
If only Amy could tell herself from ten years ago that she would end up marrying a man whose words could make her body and world tremble… The perfect two words, said so bluntly, demanding, had her convinced the second they fell from his lips.
She obeyed, with his hand on her back guiding her forwards, and soon she found herself looking out at their living/dining room from her new position: bent over their kitchen counter.
Jake’s hand continued its journey up her back, all the way up to her shoulder where he gave it a tiny affectionate squeeze before leaning down and pecking the back of her neck.
“Okay, babe?”
“Y-yes, perfect,” she whimpered, impatient, struggling to retain her recklessness.
“You look so good.”
The unequivocal sound of his palm patting her full ass cheek echoed in the kitchen. Even when trying to convey the need to ask for more into grabbing onto the counter, to a point where her knuckles turned white, holding back a whimper was out of her hands.
“Soon, babe. I just can’t get over how fucking good you look bent over like this...”
Another pat, a strike more appropriately so, to her other ass cheek let Amy know that he was definitely testing her patience and willingness to stay silent. He loved the frustration he knew she was battling with inside; mainly because he knew she’d never break because Amy Santiago’s desire to please and obey was stronger than the feeling of despair and need.
“… Bent over and desperate for me to touch you.”
Jake’s low, rumbling voice, the way an almost animalistic side of him shone through his words, was enough to keep Amy going. Although she did quickly take a preference upon feeling a sudden overwhelming burst of warmth and stimulus shoot through her when his fingers switched their attention from her ass to her folds, slowly running two fingers back and forth through them as to assemble as much moisture as possible.
Pleased with himself at the sound of a high-pitched and dragged out Oh there was no stopping him. Slowly torturing them both, mostly her, he kept working her open with his fingers as small moans and squeals dropped from her lips. His other hand kept a firm hold of her hip. Amy was off in another world, trembling at the feeling of his fingers finally doing to her what she’d been craving for for so long now. Her hands slowly turned sore from holding on so tightly to the counter under her, but she didn’t care. Everything felt so good and she’d die if it were to stop if she disobeyed or accidentally disregarded Jake’s wishes and plans.
All of the sudden, ready to whine at the loss of his fingers but quickly interrupted, Amy felt a strong hold of her hips from both of his hands and then, even better, herself being stretched around her husband’s cock. To hell with the consequences, Amy let out the loudest “quiet” moan she dared. The sensation washing over her was too much, too good, to keep quiet about however it helped that she expressed herself cheek pressed down into the cool kitchen counter.
“Yes,” Jake hissed pushing himself all the way in. “Fuck, you’re the best thing, babe.”
She felt a hand, once again, run up the length of her back as he shuffled on the spot to adjust himself inside of her. The stretch ceased for a brief second but immediately came back, this time for good, repeating itself in a steady pattern that had the entire front of Amy’s body, from her knees hitting the lower kitchen cupboards to the face rubbing up against the cool marble, following the given rhythm. The sound of their bodies slapping together, Amy’s skin drumming against their counter to the beat of his repetitive thrusting as well, came together like an obscene symphony. Only one thing was missing, and he knew why: she was waiting for permission like the good girl she was.
Bending over her so far that his chest ran parallel with her back, almost skin against skin, Jake made a makeshift ponytail with his wife’s soft, dark hair and, keeping in mind to stay careful, forced Amy’s head off the counter and back. Amy hissed, the pain and pleasure coming together, and she was finally in the perfect position for him to whisper into her ear.
“I know for a fact that you can be a hell of a lot louder than that.”
The observation, rather the implicit demand, went straight to her already extensive drive and with her head held up by his hand in her hair, Amy allowed her sounds of pleasure to fall freely from her lips and accompany the repetitive sound their body’s coming together, over and over, skin to skin, skin to wood, skin to stone.
“Oh- oh- ohmygod yes,” came tumbling out of her like the world was collapsing inside of her and having straightened back up, still with a hold of Amy’s hair, Jake could only admire the scene before him as he felt the stressful case and immense pressure melting away. After this he would definitely have to apologize for being so absent lately but for now, they probably needed this more than anything else.
“Y-yes, baby. Feel so good around me.”
Every word, every sound, every move was punctuated by a thrust, one after the othert, speed and force slowly increasing as a momentum built and both parties fell into and drowned in an endless pool of longing and passion.
“Was this what you wanted when you decided you were going to act like a fucking brat?”
A tug on the makeshift ponytail demanded that Amy listen even though she knew he might not necessarily want an answer from her - at least not a vocal one.
“Was is worth it? Tell me.”
Another tug on her hair, definitely demanding an answer, and his fingers digging into her fleshy hips earned him a small cry of submission that almost had him coming right there on the spot. Alas he stayed focused and steady. He wasn’t ready to let go yet, and neither was she. Just the way he wanted it and the way she loved it.
“Y-yes,” she just barely managed to stutter between thrusts, too far gone to make out a longer sentence, even though she was dying to tell him just how good he made her feel and how she’d missed him inside of her.
“Can’t believe all it takes to shut you up is a good fuck,” he accused her, but she could tell he was not so secretly loving it, simply saying it, making it sound filthy, because he had needed it just as badly as her. “So desperate you’ll take it anywhere…”
He trailed off, out of breath from snapping his hips back and forth into her with hefty momentum that had both his and her legs shaking. Although, he knew, he wasn’t quite done with her yet. There might’ve been beads of sweat running down her arched back, red marks on her arms from the rubbing of the counter and beginning knots where he held onto her hair, but it couldn’t be over yet.
Using the last surge of energy, he had left in him, Jake decided to let go of his wife’s hair and used the now freed hand to give her ass one last spank, one whose loud snap and following whine bounced off the kitchen walls. Besides that, nothing was said and Jake was pleased.
“No complaining, huh? You just know that you always look so much better when I mark you up.”
It was hard to tell since her entire body jerked every time he reentered her however Jake was sure: she nodded. He stroked the fresh redness of her ass before hunching over her still very much bent over figure. The new curve of his body to ran along hers, his chest to his back, and gave him the opportunity to take a hold of her hands where they were still clinging onto the kitchen counter’s edge for dear life. Now he could help his thrusts by pulling into her.
“I’m so close, Ames. So fucking close.”
He readjusted as to be able to whisper directly into her ear.
“You look so good bent over like this… All for me…”
“O-only for you,” she managed to stutter.
“But I want to be able to see your face when you cum.. So hard like never before,” he marked his point by gathering some extra force to thrust just a bit deeper and the small scream it derived was worth it. Although he had already (kind of) warned her Amy felt like dying the second he so brutally pulled out of her completely. It was all soon forgotten though; the second he pulled her back up straight, spun her around and lifted her, almost entirely by himself, up to sit on the counter. Before Amy could fully comprehend what was happening, he had her face cupped in his hand and their eyes locked.
Amy could’ve sworn what he did and said next was the sexiest thing he’d ever done to her: without letting go of her face, neither her eyes, he used his free hand to push her thighs apart and around him.
“Now don’t you dare look away.”
Without further explanation he grabbed his cock and guided it back into her, once more appeasing her with the feeling of being filled to the brim by him. It was far from as easy or smooth as their previous position, but they fell back into a enjoyable pattern of movements. Before they knew it Amy was back to whimpering at every thrust, her magic spot struck over and over again. She was shrieking her pleas as he kept their eyes locked and there was no escaping it. The hand holding her face snuck a thumb across her dry lips, furthermore, causing them to part and welcome his finger past the edge and into the mouth he was dying to kiss.
“Do you have any idea how fucking hot you look like this?” he praised enjoying the wet sensation around his thumb and the muffled effect on her whimpers it had before removing his hand, to her disappointment, only to then please when he put it to better use down between her legs. “And you’re going to look even hotter when you fall apart around me, understood?”
“Y-yes,” she croaked with eyes slowly beginning to flutter closed. “I- I’m so close, baby.”
“Me too,” he breathed heavily as he saw her eyes shut as his fingers played with her clit, wishing and yearning to take her where they both wanted to be. “Now look at me,” he demanded using his free hand to once again grab her jaw and reposition her face as to be sure she was looking directly into his eyes as he felt himself come closer to his climax.
He picked up the pace, the slaps of their skin becoming louder, and Amy immediately reacted by grinding harder onto both his cock and fingers meanwhile her mouth let every deep, sinful emotion pour out of her as a messy ode to her own climax.
“R-right there, ugh- yes! Faster, harder-“
“I’m gonna cum, babe. Right now,” he exclaimed.
“Y- yes, inside of me. Keep going,” she begged afraid that his climax would interrupt God’s work he was doing on her.
“Ye-“ he was cut off by his own climax which caused his head to shoot back and a groan from the deep of his gut. Although Amy had nothing to fear: even through his climax Jake kept up his pace, mostly with his fingers, and not too long after he had Amy writhing and gasping for on the counter.
“Come for me, babe. All over me.”
He was slowly coming down from his own climax and passionately coaxed his unravelling wife through their shared euphoria, listening and staring into her eyes as she crumbled around him.
After a few moments of aftershock in the shape of shuttering, gasping and whimpering, the room fell silent and time seemed to stand still. By then Amy had slumped forward, completely drained, leaning her head onto his shoulder meanwhile the cool night temperature of the room started to get to her. Small goosebumps danced all over her body.
For a bit they just let it be, let the moment stand on its own, giving Jake the time to run his hands all over his wife’s shaky, beautiful body that he loved oh so much.
“I’m sorry I’ve been so absent lately. I hope you know that it has nothing to do with you.”
Although it was a statement and a fact rather than a question, Jake definitely wanted and needed to know if she knew that it was so.
“I know.”
He could feel and hear her smile because that’s how stupid well he knew her.
“Good. Still want to say I’m sorry though,” he smiled into the top of her head before pecking it and getting a small taste of the sweat they’d both built up. “…And I promise that I won’t let work control me like this again.”
Silence. A beat.
“I really appreciate you saying that. Thank you…”
She turned her head so that she could kiss his lips and, just an hour ago, Amy might’ve thought he was the most annoying, stubborn human on earth and maybe he was… But now she was also once again sure of the fact that no one could or ever would love her like her husband does.

Previous part
-
You opened your eyes to the sight of sunshine pouring in through the windows. Birds faintly chirping beyond the walls of the house, the smell of whatever was being made for breakfast floating in through the crack of your bedroom door, which Jake was currently standing in front of while holding a balloon.
“What are you doing, weirdo?” you grumbled as you threw your covers to the side and sat up in bed.
“Happy birthday!” he cheered, stepping over to tie the balloon string around a piece of your headboard. “I wanted to be the first to say it! I also came to tell you that your social worker is here.”
“My what?! Jake, am I being--”
“No no, nothing like that,” he assured you as he grabbed your hands, thumbs running lightly over them. “You’ve been legally part of this family for 11 years now, nothing can change that. And you’re not in trouble, so don’t look at this negatively, okay?”
“Okay.” Your eyes closed as you exhaled slowly, opening them again to peer at your brother. “Can you come down with me?”
“Of course.”
He released one hand and laced his fingers with yours as the two of you traveled downstairs to the dining room, where Karen was currently plating your breakfast and chatting with your social worker.
“Oh, happy birthday, angel!” Karen approaches you, throwing an arm around your shoulders and dropping a gentle kiss on your temple. “You remember Susan, right?”
“How could I forget?” You laughed nervously. “Is everything okay?”
“Everything is fine, sweetie. I was just talking to your mom here about your birth parents. They’ve been released from prison recently, and requested a visit with you for your birthday.”
“What did you say?” you asked as you turned to Karen.
“I told Susan that you were old enough and smart enough to know whether or not you want them to be a part of your life.”
That was the problem, you didn’t know what you wanted. To be completely honest, you never expected to see or hear from your birth parents ever again, not even sure if they still wanted to know you after all this time. You didn’t know what kind of people they were before prison, and you weren’t sure if you wanted to see how the experience changed them.
“Little Carrot?” A squeeze of your fingers brought you back to the room.
“Sorry, I was thinking.” You met Jake’s gaze and when he slightly nodded, you turned to Susan. “I think I would like to meet them. I don’t even remember what kind of people they were before I lost them, and I’m curious.”
“Okay! I’ll set up an after school meeting and send your mom all the information.” Karen stepped away to walk Susan out and Jake came to stand in front of you.
“Do you want Mom and I to come with you?”
“Nah, I’ll be okay. Besides, I expect pizza and cake on the table when I get home.” You poked his chest jokingly, laughing when he grabbed your finger and pulled you over to the table.
-
The school day was full of nerves, more piling on with each hour on the clock that brought you closer to the meeting time. When you left the building, Susan was there, waiting by her car with a comforting smile.
“Nervous, huh?”
“Yeah, how’d you know?”
“You’re not the first kid I’ve taken to meet with their birth parents.” She opened the car door for you, closing it once you were situated and getting in on the driver’s side. “I know it seems scary, but just know that there are no consequences for doing this. You can either love them and they can be a part of your life in whatever way you decide, or you can decide not to continue seeing them and still have a loving and supportive family to go home to.”
You thought about her statement as she drove you to the park, your leg bouncing with the anticipation of meeting your parents all over again. The two of you were the first to arrive, and Susan parked near the meeting spot so you could wait in the car.
“They should be here in about twenty minutes. We’re actually pretty early.”
Twenty minutes turned into thirty, then an hour and another. Three hours had passed since the end of the school day and your parents hadn’t made an appearance yet. Susan tried calling both of their phone numbers countless times and no answer. The last time she went to dial them, you simply shook your head.
“Please just take me home.”
After unlocking the door, you were greeted by birthday wishes and smiling faces hovering over boxes of pizza and a cake. Jake could immediately tell by your slouched shoulders that you weren’t bringing good news and he quickly approached you.
“What happened?”
The question and his concerned gaze meeting yours struck you hard, causing you to crumble into his waiting arms as you broke down.
“Oh angel, what’s wrong?” Karen’s hand ran comfortingly along your back, and you sniffled repeatedly as you pulled away to speak.
“They didn’t come.” Jake’s jaw clenched, but he fought to contain his anger for your sake, simply tightening his hold in response. “We waited three hours and they didn’t come.”
“I’m so sorry--”
“It’s fine.” You shook your head dismissively despite the tears that threatened to break free. “I just want to eat and forget about it.”
“How about you kids get your pizza while I set up the birthday girl’s favorite movie in the living room?”
“Thanks, Mom.”
You sent her a smile as she left the room, holding it as you stepped around Jake and Gina handed you a plate with a couple slices on it. Your façade was kept until cake was eaten and Gina bid you all farewell for the night, and you slipped away to your bedroom for privacy.
Knock, knock, knock. Or maybe not.
“Come in.” You sighed as you flopped down onto your bed, scooting over as Jake came to sit down. “What’s up, Pineapples?”
“Just checking on you. Didn’t really get a chance to see how you feel after today.”
“I’m…” Another sigh left you as you lost the will to lie to him. “I wish they would’ve just left me alone. Forgetting their existence was a lot easier than letting them get my hopes up.”
“I’m sorry this happened to you, and I’m hoping maybe this will help you feel better.” He pulls a jewelry box from the pocket of his denim jacket and hands it to you while you frown at him.
“What’s this?”
“Your gift. You didn’t think I only got you a CD, did you?” he teased, knocking your shoulder with his. “Open it!”
You took the top off and set it to the side, gasping as you pulled out a silver necklace with a small pendant, yellow on one side and orange on the other.
“It’s us,” he tells you before you can ask. “I know things are about to get weird with me going to the academy and everything after graduation, but I wanted you to have a little reminder that I’m always here for you. Even if I’m not right next to you like this.”
“I love this so much.”
You faced him with watery eyes and he simply smiled, instructing you to turn around so he could help you put it on. The two of you leaned against the headboard when he was done, his arm around your shoulders while you leaned into him.
“In case I haven’t told you enough, you’re my favorite person on this whole, weird planet,” you mumbled into the fabric covering his torso.
“Good, because you’re my favorite too.”
-
You listened for snores heard just over Karen’s TV and Jake’s radio before closing your door and locking it, then slipping on your shoes and a jacket to keep away the chill of the night. After leaving a book in the window you snuck out of to keep it from closing, you made your way down the block to where your friend Erica and her older brother waited in a car.
“Hey, hope I didn’t take too long.”
“It’s fine!” She turned in her seat to grin at you. “Parties don’t really pick up until this time anyway.”
The house was full of teenagers when you arrived and Erica sent you to get drinks from the kitchen while she greeted the host, her brother headed off to his own friends.
“There she is!”
Erica called your name and waved you over to a guy that seemed too old to be at an eighteen and under party.
“This is Greg. I was just telling him that it’s your birthday, and that it hasn’t gone that well so far.”
“Happy birthday, kid.” He handed you a little plastic bag with a few pills in it. “First one’s on the house.”
“Thank you,” you told him, meeting his eyes again after examining the small objects. “But I’ve never--”
“--seen something so beautiful, right?” Erica quickly cut in with a wide grin, thanking Greg again before pulling you off to a quieter corner of the room. “This is so cool! He hardly ever gives anything away for free! He must think you’re cute.”
“Yeah? Well, I think he’s too old. Erica, what is this?”
“It’s a good time!” She took the bag from you and opened it, taking one out before handing it back to you. “Just take one and swallow it down with your drink.”
Against your better judgment, you took one of the pills and washed it down with the fruity alcohol in your cup. You danced with your friend and other people you recognized from school, not noticing at first the changes in everything. Lights seemed brighter, the music louder and better, and you felt lighter, the disappointment of the day long forgotten. You were happier than you’d ever felt in your whole life, and you never wanted it to end.

rare as the glimmer of a comet in the sky
It’s the perfect little getaway, exactly what they needed. It would be even better if she could only stop thinking.
“So, tell me.” Jake holds her hand over the table, forcing her back to reality. “Five top moments for us 2019, go. Countdown-stylez.”
Three different New Year's Eves, as celebrated by Jake and Amy (and Mac).
read on ao3 💕
december 31st, 2019.
The hotel guests checking in before Jake and Amy are a family. A little girl with blonde hair, maybe four or five years old, is carrying her own pink backpack and making up dance steps around her father’s feet as he goes through the information with the receptionist, and an even younger boy is hiding behind his mother’s legs as he watches the people in the lobby with wide eyes. Looking up, Amy realizes that the mother’s open coat is revealing a baby bump, too. She’d put her at six, maybe seven months pregnant. Three kids. Amy feels a pang of jealousy.
Even with the observation skills of an experienced detective, it shocks her how good she’s become at picking out families and pregnant women in any crowd. It’s an interesting talent, but measured against the pain it causes her, Amy wouldn’t call it a very useful one. She notices Jake looking at the kids as well, a daydreaming look on his face, and somehow, that makes her pain worse.
The idea behind going away to a hotel upstate for New Year’s was so they could get away from the stress for a moment; go somewhere else, rest and relax, forget about the pregnancy master calendar they’ve stared themselves blind at for a few days. Amy didn’t realize how impossible it would be to get away from all the other reminders.
She draws a breath of relief when the family in front of them gets the keys to their room, the little girl running first towards the elevator and her brother laughing as he chases after.
“Cute kids,” Jake whispers, watching them longingly.
“Yeah.” Amy tries not to think about the negative pregnancy test she threw away in the bathroom trashcan before they left. “Really cute.”
//
“I’m excited you said we could drink tonight.” Jake toasts his White Russian with her glass of Sauvignon. “It’s been a while.”
“I know, “ Amy feels the guilt wash over her. “Well, it’s not New Year’s Eve every day. I think we’ve earned it.” And I already took a negative test, she thinks.
“We sure have.” He gives her a closer look, pressing his lips together like he always does when he’s worried about her. “Hey, are you okay?”
“Just tired,” she says. It’s not technically a lie. “I didn’t sleep that well last night.”
“Lucky we have a huge hotel bed to help with that tonight, then. Seriously, this place rocks.”
Amy’s prepared to agree on that part – she did her research the moment it stood clear they would both get New Year’s Eve off. After getting their room, they’ve spent the evening getting massages in the hotel spa, dining at the surprisingly nice restaurant, and now they’re admiring the view from the bar on the top floor, waiting for the fireworks. It’s the perfect little getaway, exactly what they needed. It would be even better if she could only stop thinking.
“So, tell me.” Jake holds her hand over the table, forcing her back to reality. “Five top moments for us 2019, go. Countdown-stylez.”
“Number five!” She rolls the r and holds on the i, earning herself an amused look from the older couple next to them. “Okay, I’m going to go with… that date you took me on for my birthday. I can’t believe you got into the puzzle bar this time!”
“I might have convinced the guard to let me in because it was your birthday, but still a good one. Number fooo-uur… the Cinco de Mayo-heist. God, that was fun, even if the tasing hurt like a bitch.”
“Agreed. Number three – when Holt finally invited us to that dinner party and I almost didn’t lose my cool once.”
“You keep telling yourself that, babe. Number two… the Jake way. Seriously, I still think we should try that again. It was awesome.”
“It was, but also way inappropriate,” she reminds him, but he just shrugs. “Number one, then.”
“I know which one is mine, but you go first.”
Amy swallows, then sighs. “Mine is after the manhunt. When we decided to start trying. That’s still my favorite moment.”
“Mine, too.” Jake looks her in the eyes, and she knows the bittersweet feeling is shared. “It’s going to happen, Ames. I know it. Maybe this month’s the one.”
Amy doesn’t have the strength to correct him, tell him she’s already taken an early test and that she’s lacking any confidence there’s going to be a second line when she tests again in a couple of days. Luckily, she doesn’t have to, because right then, the fireworks that have been going off a few at a time in the distance begin to multiply as the countdown starts.
Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four…
Amy leans forward so she can be kissing him already when the new year begins.
Three, two, one… happy new year!
The crowd around them erupts into cheers as the sky glows with colorful explosions when burning bits of metal lighting up the darkness outside. Jake kisses her deeper, seeming to forget that there are people around with a bit of alcohol in his system and his hands cupping her face. For a moment, Amy lets herself just be happy.
~
december 31st, 2020.
The instant Amy closes her eyes for the more-than-well-deserved nap Jake told her to take while he made dinner, Mac begins to cry from his crib again.
“McClane, please,” Amy pleads, as if reasoning with her two-month-old would solve his discontent. “You can't seriously be hungry again, that’s insane.”
She tries with the pacifier first, checking his diaper, even standing up and walking around with him for a bit to eliminate anything else, but Mac is still clenching his fists and only looking even more furious with her, so Amy gives in. She sits down with him again, unhooks one side of the bra and lets him find his grip, exhaling when the peaceful suckles begin and the desperate crying finally ceases. She swears it looks like her son is side-eyeing her for taking too long, but to her defense, she fed him for a good forty-five minutes only a little over an hour ago and it's exhausting being used like a human pacifier. Growth spurt, Camila Santiago said when Amy called her in tears yesterday, and the problem-shooting section in the 0-3 months baby-binder had agreed. Amy would argue that sounds way too innocent for something which is turning her otherwise happy and smiley baby into a constantly hungry and crying mini-monster who won't close his eyes for more than twenty minutes at a time.
There's a soft knock on the door after a few minutes, and Jake peeks in. He’s wearing his fancy kitchen apron, which Charles gave him for Christmas with the comment that there’s nothing sexier than a dad who can cook. It hasn’t magically improved his cooking skills, but Amy’s willing to admit that it does look good on him.
“You guys doing okay?”
“He is, for now. I’m going crazy. How’s our dinner going?”
“Well, I haven’t burnt it yet, but there’s still time,” he grimaces, sitting down at the foot of the bed. “Do you need anything, babe?”
“Sleep, but that’s not going to happen.” Amy rubs her eyes. “It’s fine. He’s got to fall asleep at some point, though, this is nuts.”
“Don’t challenge him, he’s breaking records,” Jake says, leaning forward to tickle Mac’s feet. Mac reacts by kicking at the boob he’s not currently feeding from, making Amy curse. “Oops, sorry. Anyway, I’m sure he will fall asleep at some point, and we can have a nice, calm New Year’s dinner. I mean, he has to be exhausted, right?”
“God, I hope so. I’m starving.” She can see Mac’s eyelids getting heavy, but every time she thinks they’re about to fall closed, it’s like he twitches and stares at her, wide awake. “He’s lucky he’s cute.”
Jake grins. “Lucky indeed.”
Mac starts pulling away at that moment, a little bit of milk still dribbling from his cheeks. Amy reaches for one of the muslin blankets that’s never more than a few feet away in their home nowadays, lifting him so he’s upright against her shoulder and patting him on the back. She expects a burp, but instead, she gets an unpleasant surprise when he spits up, managing to get sour baby puke down her back and in her already greasy hair. She groans, giving Jake an exhausted look when she sees him stifling a chuckle.
“Hey, I’ll take him. You go take a shower and I’ll put him in the BabyBjörn. Maybe that will do it.”
“That’s the hottest thing you’ve ever said,” Amy mumbles, and she’s not entirely kidding.
She makes the shower as long as she possibly can. Most days, she has to shower with Mac in the baby bouncer on the bathroom floor, so even the chance to be alone in the bathroom for more than five minutes feels like a luxury. She lets the shampoo really lather and the conditioner take its time to sink in, trying to massage the knots in her neck and shoulders under the hot water. She can hear Mac still fussing from the kitchen, and it makes her feel guilty even though he’s barely left her arms today.
“He’s fine,” she whispers to herself like a mantra. “He’s fine. Jake can handle it. He’s perfectly fine. Everything’s okay. You deserve this.”
She still skips the make-up and nicer clothes she had been planning to put on, throwing on a pair of maternity leggings and one of Jake’s old hoodies instead.
The dinner looks fantastic, some sort of chicken baked in the oven with rice and a lemon sauce, and Amy’s actually impressed. She imagines it would have been even nicer if she could have eaten it warm and together with Jake, but they only make it through toasting in orange soda and the first two bites before Mac wakes up from his ten-minute-nap, wailing as if he truly believed he’d just been abandoned. They end up having to take turns eating and walking laps around the living room with him, because he starts crying again if they stop moving for a second or as much as make an attempt to put him down. Amy is suddenly relieved they said no to her brother Tony’s New Year’s party-invite.
She can barely believe it when after what feels like the fiftieth or so feed of the day, Mac falls asleep. Curled up like a little frog on her chest and letting out the cutest of baby snores, he finally seems to relax, and Amy doesn’t even dare to breathe too sharply for the first ten minutes. Eventually, though, once it seems like he’s not going to wake up from the slightest movement or a raised voice anymore, Jake tucks them both in under a blanket and gets the Ben and Jerry’s from the freezer and orange soda from the fridge. Then he gets another blanket for himself, and they snuggle up together in the corner of the sofa in front of the tv. From live footage at Times Square, Amy can see crowds of people waiting for the ball to drop.
“Wishing you were there?” Jake winks, but she just laughs.
“Are you kidding? Cold, crowded, and you can never even get a good view. This is better in every way.” She strokes her thumb over Mac’s dark hair. “I have this one and you. That’s all I need. And ice cream,” she adds, digging out a piece of cookie dough from the tub.
“You’re right, it’s pretty damn close to perfection. Top five moments of 2020?”
Amy shakes her head, pointing to Mac. “No point. They’re all about him, anyway, and they’re all too good to compare.”
“True that.” Jake shakes his head. “Hey, isn’t it crazy that although he’s been kind of a nightmare today, I’ve already forgiven him?”
“No, it makes perfect sense, because I’ve almost wanted to give him away several times and now I can’t even remember why.”
“Having a baby makes us kind of crazy, huh?”
“Oh, absolutely. I wouldn’t change it for the world, though.”
“Me neither. Not even if I was offered a role in the next Die Hard-movie and Taylor Swift did the soundtrack.”
“That’s pretty big,” Amy laughs, leaning in for a quick kiss. “Would Taylor Swift do the soundtrack for Die Hard, though? Realistically speaking?”
“It’s a daydream, Ames!”
She has no time for a comeback, though, because right then, the countdown starts on the tv and Jake raises the volume a few bars so they can hear.
Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four…
p;
“New Year’s kiss,” Amy says, holding Mac up slightly so they can both reach him.
Three, two, one… happy new year!
They both smother his cheeks with kisses at the same time as the fireworks explode over the sky in the distance outside their windows and the crowd begins to cheer on tv. Mac doesn’t even flinch, completely oblivious to the celebrations going on outside. Amy sighs.
“How can he magically sleep through all of this, but wake up the second I put him down in his crib at night?”
Jake shrugs. “Babies, man.”
~
december 31st, 2021.
Amy has only started to take off Mac’s winter overall before he starts trying to flee, kicking wildly with his boots and pointing towards the kitchen where he’s already spotted Rosa. Jake notices her struggle and is quick to help her, and the instant the toddler is free, he hurries off towards his best friend.
“Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo!”
“Mac! Hey, happy new year, man!” Before Amy can even take off her own jacket, Mac is already in Rosa’s arms and babbling excitedly as he plays with her gold necklace. Amy wonders how much of what Mac’s saying actually makes sense to Rosa, but she’s nodding and smiling and seems to have abandoned whoever she was previously talking to in favor of the one-year-old.
“Jake. Amy.” Kevin appears to take their coats, shaking their hands. “Welcome. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres are in the living room, and I see your small child has made himself at home.”
“He found Rosa, yep.” Jake grins. “And he has a name.”
“Ah, yes… McClane.” Kevin nods. “Very well. I have to go check on… the kitchen. Enjoy your evening.”
“He’s never going to like me,” Jake whispers to Amy the moment he’s left.
“Well, I think we both might have lost a few points with the name choice, babe.”
“He’s one to talk names, he’s got a dog named after a cheese!”
“I know, but we can’t tell him that. Come on, Jake, I have to find something to chew on before I get sick.”
“You can always blame it on the alcohol, if you do.”
“Jake.”
“Just kidding,” he grins. “You go check on Mac and Rosa and I’ll locate the snacks.”
It turns out Rosa is more than willing to guard Mac for the evening, currently showing him the model train she's found in the library. Mac is watching with focus as Rosa helps him turn on the button that makes the train drive around the tracks, laughing as it lets out a choo-choo sound.
“Your son is much cooler than the rest of these lame partygoers,” she shrugs when Amy asks her if she's sure it's fine. “He says what he's thinking, unlike the rest of all these dum-dums.”
“Dum-dums,” Mac repeats, proud. Rosa nods.
“Exactly. I’ll call you if something happens.”
And so, in an unexpected turn of events, Amy finds herself able to sit down for most of the evening without having to chase a wild toddler around to keep him from whatever dangers he could somehow manage to get himself into in Holt’s and Kevin’s house. She supposes it looks quite antisocial of her, and maybe it is, but she’s six weeks pregnant and the early symptoms of nausea and fatigue seem to be coming on both stronger and faster the second time around, so Amy doesn’t really care. She’s got lemon sparkling water for a non-alcoholic drink, a paper plate of carrot sticks, salted crisps and almonds, and she’s not going to talk to anyone unless they sit down next to her. It’s practically heaven. Jake checks on her from time to time, assuring her multiple times that they can just leave early if she wants to, but however tired she feels, Amy doesn’t want to insult Holt that badly. They’re staying until midnight as per proper New Year’s party etiquette, and then — and not a second later — they can go home so she can crash in bed.
Rosa finds her again when Mac begins to get sleepy, rubbing his eyes and yawning but still shaking his head when Amy asks if he's feeling a little tired. He crawls over to her arms anyway, laying his head on her shoulder and hugging his arms around her chest.
“Thanks for looking after him,” she tells Rosa, but she just shrugs.
“No worries. I don't get to hang out with him enough. Your kid is dope.”
“Douh,” Mac whispers, mimicking her, and Rosa laughs.
“Repeats every word you tell him, too,” Amy says. “Yeah, he’s pretty awesome. Come over to our apartment at five-thirty in the morning on any weekend and you can hang out with him all you want. I won't stop you.”
Rosa scrunches her nose. “I’ll consider it.”
“He’s in a great mood then, I can assure you that.”
“I'll take your word for it. Also, Jake was tipsy talking baby names with some etymology professor when I saw him last, and he seemed very intense about it for a guy who's not currently thinking of naming any new babies. Or?” She raises an eyebrow.
“No, he just get thats intense when somebody implies McClane is a weird name,” Amy says, and makes a note to herself to remind Jake about their agreement not to tell anyone else at least until the twelve-week mark. “Which, to be fair, I warned him that people would think. But here we are anyway.”
“It is a weird name. Couldn’t imagine him being called anything else, though, even if I still don’t understand why you agreed to it.”
“There was a really good PowerPoint involved.”
Rosa looks at her questioningly, but Amy shakes her head, knowing there’s no point in explaining the unexplainable.
“Hmm. You guys are weird. You make pretty great kids, though.”
“Yeah.” Mac has fallen asleep by now, drooling a little bit on Amy’s shoulder. She kisses the top of his head and thinks of the abstract idea of her second kid, the thump-thump of an already present heartbeat they got so lucky as to hear on an early ultrasound yesterday. “The best.”
As midnight draws closer, most of the guests take on jackets, scarves and shoes to venture out into the garden to watch fireworks. Not wanting to be left out, Amy and Jake manage to get a half-sleeping Mac, who wakes up suddenly interested when he hears about the promise of fireworks, into his overall and join them. It’s a surprisingly good view from the garden, the cold winter air waking them up, and Jake points out the vibrant displays in the sky to a drowsy Mac, who blinks at them dazedly. It’s so cute it makes Amy tear up. Being both a mom and newly pregnant does that to her; she’s given up trying to fight it.
It’s hard to believe that two years ago, she was toasting in champagne in a hotel bar and wondering if they would ever make a baby together, and now she’s standing in a garden watching Jake with their one-year-old son and knowing that next New Year’s, if all goes well, they’ll be parents of two.
“What are you thinking of?” Jake must see her tears, because he looks worried, but Amy just smiles.
“Just how quickly things can change. How happy I am. And how much I love you.”
“Love you, too. Top three-hundred-and-sixty-five moments of this year,” Jake says, hugging her close so they’re standing in a little family bubble. “Every single day I get to wake up with and then come home to my family.”
Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four…
They both lean in so they can smother their son with kisses, and he laughs as he figures out what’s about to happen.
Three, two, one… happy new year!
The sky explodes with color, Jake and Amy attack their son with kisses, and as the new year begins, Amy thinks she might just be the luckiest person in the entire world.

20 Questions: Writer Edition
@markcampbells WHO I ADORE tagged me. Thank you bby
Tumblr media
How many works do you have on AO3?
21
What’s your total AO3 word count?
151,962. Wowzer.
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
8. Barry HBO, Defending Jacob, Graceland TV, Killing Eve, Les Mis, Marvel, Pacific Rim, Veep.
What are your top five fics by kudos?
Still I Run Right Into You (Pacific Rim (2013))
I'm the Bad Guy (Killing Eve (TV 2018), Barry (TV 2018))
A Minor Overreaction (Pacific Rim (2013))
Baby, You Don't Know What it's Like (Graceland (TV))
Oh, Baby, Baby, Merry Christmas (Darling) (Veep (TV))
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Absolutely. The fact that someone would take time out of their day to say something about my work is so flattering.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
(jet set) bonnie and clyde series for Barry did not end happy, but that’s because I firmly believe Hader wants that show realistic. I tried to stay true to that.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Oh, Baby, Baby, Merry Christmas (Darling) (Veep (TV)). Christmas fluff and what Amy and Dan deserved.
Do you write crossovers? If yes, what’s the craziest thing you’ve written?
Yes’m. The wildest one was Barry and Killing Eve because Villanelle was merciless to Barry about everything. I’m the Bad Guy. It was so much fun.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
Yes, but I don’t have enough RAM in my brain to remember all of them. I remember someone being angry about the shoes I gave Hermione which were based on my prom heels. When I wrote it, I was 18 and no idea shoes could be slutty. (They can’t. They’re shoes. Feet fingers are neither prudes nor sluts).
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I do. I used to be a fade to black type. Now, I try to focus on feelings, sensations, and what it means to the story. I can’t do super explicit because I will laugh because I’m a weirdo.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Don’t think so. Part of me would be angry cause hard work and the other part would find it hilarious.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
No. Have at it though.
Have you ever co-written a fic?
A long time ago I wrote a Supernatural/Harry Potter fic with a lot of help from someone.
What’s your all time favourite ship?
Um. What do I ship again? I don’t have an all time favorite anymore. David x Patrick on Schitt’s Creek, Danny x Mindy on the Mindy Project, Amy x Jake on Brooklyn Nine Nine, Dan x Amy on Veep.
What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
It will get finished, but due to the fucking horror of the last two years, Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince is on hold. It’s Veep. It’s heavy. It’s about Dan and Amy handling a scandal in Dan’s family.
What’s your writing strengths?
Dialogue. Jokes. Plot. Being a screenwriter, I’m very dialogue heavy.
What’s your writing weaknesses?
Descriptions. I cannot write as beautifully as @odinsdottir-rogers or @starfleetstgmgr or @beca-mitchell. I wish I could. Alas, this is what we got. From writing scripts, I’m used to having a limited amount of space and I’ll just write “She walks to the door” instead of going into detail about how she feels, what the door looks like etc. I’m trying.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in fic?
If you speak it or you know people who do, then it’s totally awesome. I used some Hindi in Log kya kahenge for Defending Jacob and I think that made it more authentic.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
I wanna say Star Wars or Harry Potter.
What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
Umm. I like a lot of them especially my Veep series because of the twins. I love making OCs which is probably cause I write some original scripts. However, my current love is but it’s golden like daylight because I love Nicolette Stark. I’ve spent the most time ever crafting her and making her fleshed out. She keeps that Captain on his toes.
tagging: @starfleetstgmgr @odinsdottir-rogers @muttpeeta @casliyn @beca-mitchell @adecila and whoever wants to do this. If you don’t, no worries.
