Every year on the Jewish festival of Lag Ba-Omer, Jews from all over the world flock to the EL Ghriba Synagogue on the Tunisian island of Djerba. Founded approximately 2000 years ago, the synagogue is believed to be the oldest one in North Africa, with legend claiming that either a stone or a door Solomon's temple is incorporated in the building. The pilgrims celebrate with religious rituals as well as music and dance while feasting on couscous, fish, and Tunisia’s distinctive fig wine. Some revere a girl – known as the "Ghriba" – who is said to have been killed by lightning and whom they hope will grant their wishes, especially for fertility, marital happiness and health. Traditionally, many of Tunisia’s predominantly Muslim population, including officials, also attend the festivities

Last night I posted this then deleted it as I was told it was not a terror attack but turns out it might have been. 

Last night in a synagogue in Djerba, Tunisia, where many tourists go annually to celebrate Lag Ba'Omer, 2 Jews and a security guard were murdered. One of the Jews living in Tunisia was an Israeli citizen.

The terrorist was an officer, affiliated with the National Guard naval center, who first turned his service weapon on a colleague, before grabbing more bullets and making his way to the synagogue.

When he reached the area, he began shooting wildly at security units stationed at the synagogue, who responded with gunfire, killing him. The synagogue was locked down and those inside were kept secure.
