I was recently inspired by some of Guetta's recent remix works of popular songs from 90s, where the chorus tune of the songs are kept but the lyrics are changed heavily. I wanted to try something similar with Griffinilla's "Hard Drive", and this is the result.

Quick note: I did copy a significant portion of the drum beat notation found in the released MIDI karaoke version of Guetta's "I'm Good (Blue)". But the rest of the notation is either lifted from Griffinilla's work, with my own modifications sprinkled in.

Saying Nib sang this is a bit of a tongue-in-cheek thing, as I had him in mind when I came up with the lyrics, as well know it's really just a piano soundfont made from Mettaton's dialogue voice. That said, in this case, I ended up not using articulation for the voice like in my earlier works "Midnight Lover" and "Forget-Me-Not", as it didn't fit for this piece for some reason. Maybe because the original piece has heavy reverb? Just a weird observance of mine.

got to marching band in middle school, got more curious about learning. so i styarted playing everything i could get my hands on independent from band and my music classes. i learned how to play:

bass guitar but i’m not very good at it i don’t wanna talk bout that.

i can also sing! and do metal screams! i was in a metal band for like 2 weeks before i decided that shit wasnt for me im more of a backstage person.

having access to a band room full of instruments is neat if ur brave and don’t mind practicing for hours.

im also really good at notation. ive done a lot of sheet music writing in my time.

When I was rolling, I found that if I follow this line with my limbs I could roll in a straight line. I made marks using a pencil and this tool (paper pencil) to make soft marks across the floor.”

Y: “I plotted dots in the center of the page thinking that it’s a central axis when we’re moving, or a spine. The lines I connected to the side are both symmetrical and asymmetrical like how we move or how we’re built, how our muscles are attached. I found it interesting that in contemporary dance we work with both symmetry and asymmetry…to know that I’m right handed and that I feel comfortable performing a certain movement pattern is helpful while trying to break from it.”

Day 3 of Teleprovisation

On day 3, it was on Graphic Notations that Brian O’Riley, one of the lecturers from LASALLE, gave a presentation on the different types of graphic notations by several artists. After his presentation, we were all tasked to either create graphic notations by drawing, painting, or even using school’s architectures as a base. In team Singapore, we were split into 3 different groups. Yi Er and I were in a group together and as music students that have been taught by Brian on graphic notation, Yi Er and I decided to focus on LASALLE’s infrastructure. We went around the school looking to be inspired by artworks and other items.

We were very inspired by how the ripples (using finger to disturb the peaceful water) were moving and it looked very mesmerising. Therefore, we decided to show and update Brian about this particular piece. He gave us a suggestion that we could make it into a video with time lapse in various part of the piece.

Playing with filters and the time lapse, we edited into this as our final piece of graphic notation named, “The Ripple Effect”. 

After 45 minutes of figuring and editing the graphic notation. We were all once again sat down to discuss different pieces of graphic notations we had within the three campuses (Singapore, Zurich and Trondheim) 

It was really intriguing to find that everyone’s graphic notations were made differently. Some were painted, some were drawn and some were made with the help of technology (videos and usage of computer apps)

After the feedback session on thoughts about the different graphic notations, we were officially finalised into our groups. Within the three campuses, we were split into 4 breakout groups/rooms.
