I wasn’t expecting much from Dave’s DIY steampunk trailer (it’s his 6th build), b/c it’s so small. He sources the old original parts from car-boot sales or eBay and builds them from scratch. Let’s look at the evolution.
This is amazing. It looks like a teardrop trailer bought from a dealer.
The materials don’t cost him much, but he spends hundreds of hours over many weekends working on one. So far, he’s only sold one b/c he gets attached to them.
I can’t get over how much it looks like a manufactured tear drop, right down to the storage in the back.
It’s small, but the interior is impressive.
Love the copper and the skylight feature.
The leather panels came from an old sofa Dave bought for £15. He worked with a design company to give it the feel of an old explorer’s library.
The chandelier was made from an old coffee pot and copper pipes.
This is so nice.
I’ve never seen a tent like this for a teardrop, but it’s a good idea. Notice the sink on the side. Very nice.

This ladies and gentlemen, is the rug that my van has practically been built around.
I fell in love with it before I even started cleaning the back of the van out. When it was still empty barring some welding rods and the odd screw and bolt under the flooring. It was even still all blue!
So the furniture needed to be built to fit this beauty in.
Voilà, the floating furniture was born.
With the edges of the sofa and the kitchen set back, it allows the rug to slide in perfectly whilst keeping surface space and a super comfy sofa.
Looking closely you may see some of the yellow has been eaten by some lovely mice. Just a indication that I took too long to build this bloody thing!
