I love how in Disenchanted, Robert spends all his time as a Knight trying to be physically heroic and in the end it's his skills as a lawyer that saves the day. He's like "the contract states that the spell becomes permanent when the clock strikes midnight. All we have to do is stop the clock from striking, then."

Amazing.

Some Disenchanted thoughts (spoilers!!):

Amy Adams has RANGE y’all. She was fabulous

The fact that Giselle, Morgan, Robert, and Tyson all got to be the heroes, there wasn’t just one person who swept in an did it all themselves was just… *chef’s kiss*

There was a great balance of magic and real life stuff in a way that was different enough to make it unique from the original but also honor what sets Enchanted apart as a movie

The costume department popped off, y’all

Robert being head over heels for Giselle and being a really good dad is just very soothing to watch lol. And the part where he saved the little girl whose family was identical to his 😭 poetic cinema

Yep I just love everything about this film lol. I don’t think it was better than the original but I don’t think it needs to be, either. It was special in its own way and I’m going to be talking about it forever 😂❤️

still thinking about the fact that even though she was fully immersed in her villain arc, giselle was still giselle. she can't make a convincing or actually scary insult. she preens at compliments from malvina even though they're sarcastic because she doesn't notice it's sarcasm. she's still full-on andalasian princess whimsical even in the middle of their duel, turning weapons into butterflies. giselle's stepmother-queen evilness is nothing compared to nerissa's stepmother-queen evilness in the first film and that's because even if it's against her own wishes, even with a fairytale life, giselle was never meant for that. she left that behind when she fell in love with a life with robert and morgan.

"Morgan, if you wanna be mad, you be mad at me. But you do not talk to your mother like that!"

ok but as for disenchanted it’s a really solid sequel. i wouldn’t say it’s better but it’s definitely good enough that i’d watch it after watching enchanted each time. none of the songs outdid how does she know/the so close dance scene bUT NO ONE can say amy adams didn’t act her fucking ass off ohhh my god. i could watch her switch between giselle and evil giselle for HOUUURS that bitch can fucking ACT

Who knew what we needed was Maya Rudolph and Amy Adams having a duet about who was badder?

Who knew that being a villain could feel so…liberating?

I do love all the subtle callbacks to other Disney movies. With the costumes and lines and tropes —who was in charge of that. you deserve a raise

Giselle not grasping sarcasm or understanding it with a small delay is genuinely hilarious and perfect in character continuity, Amy Adams absolutely nails the acting
