Love (/s) how the problem with disabled parking always seems to boil down to "You need to leave the spots for truly disabled people. If you can walk you don't need it." and not "People can exist in various states of disability that would all benefit from those spots. There really should be more."

Getting really tired of the dirty looks i get from people (usually the elderly) when i park in a disabled car parking space. Like yes im young but you know what else i am? disabled. I have a blue badge and every right to park there so Doris needs to jog the fuck on.

Seriously, your goddamm work truck does not belong in the accessible parking spot (unless you have a pass for it) which this guy definitely doesn't!
Some asshole in my apartment has started using the spot, but only when the office is closed. By the time they're open, he's gone, so I can't have him towed. This kind of shit seriously pisses me off.
And the apartment management just shrugged and said "sorry it was a long weekend we've been closed".... like....ok?? I told her it sends a message that her disabled tenants are worth less to her.
If you are not disabled and use accessible parking FOR ANY REASON I hope you have the worst luck. I hope all your socks are soggy and your bread is moldy before you can finish it and your shoelaces never stay tied. And that maybe for once, you learn some empathy for the people around you.

Accessible Loading Zones Are NOT Parking Spots!
Don't park in the accessible loading zones. I can't believe I have to say this. But I see it so often! Or people parked halfway into the loading zone. Those spots need to be CLEAR for a multitude of reasons. People with wheelchairs, canes, walkers, and rollators need the ramp in the loading zone to get up to the sidewalk. Some cars have wheelchair lifts that require the loading zone space to load and unload their passengers. Other people with limited mobility need it so they can safely get out of the car. It's not a convenient spot to park when a lot is full. Be kind and considerate of the people around you and keep the blue square clear.

Okay so this is going to be a bit messy but, so I’m in a wheelchair most of the time nowadays and I went to the gym tonight and my gym has two disabled parking spots.
I feel it’s important to note that I wasn’t using my chair but the walking distance hurt especially after my visit. However I’m noticing more and more that one or both spots are being taken by people that aren’t disabled, or at the very least don’t have a blue badge (dunno if it’s a thing else where but In the uk where I am it’s what allows people to park in disabled bays. Yaada yaada). It’s just really frustrating because the only reason I can think that someone would use those spots other than being a selfish dick is that they don’t think someone who’s ‘properly disabled’ and needs the spot would go to gym. Which is bs. Idk it’s just really annoying. This is a real ramble sorry.

Quick question. I have a Rheumatology apt on Monday. The last time I went I was really hoping to get the disability placard paperwork filled out by the Dr but she was running late on her apts and I was told to give it to my primary. Idk know if she meant that as “I’m running late and don’t have time” or as is “this is something ur primary dr needs to do that I shouldn’t be doing for you”
So should I:
Option 1) Act like I forgot and ask her to fill out the paper anyways.
or
Option 2) Call my primary. Make an apt for various things I probably need to see her about anyways. Wait for said apt and drive across town and then ask her to do it?
I’m good with conflict the way a Chihuahua is good in a dog fight. I can handle myself but only in certain circumstances. So any advice would be appreciated 😘

If you park in a handicap spot without a permit or valid reason you're ignorant and selfish and I will be taking no questions :)

Loved the Mentalist but...
Twice they had Patrick busting someone using a wheelchair for being able to walk. He claimed he ALWAYS looks at the bottoms of the shoes when he sees a person using a wheelchair.
Folks, a majority of people using wheelchairs can walk some of the time. There are lots of conditions besides paralysis that necessitate the use of a wheelchair part of the time. A wheelchair can save limited energy and prevent falling from conditions that suddenly drop blood pressure. We need to stop the gotcha policing of people with disabilities and chronic illness.
Could someone fake needing a wheelchair to give themselves some kind of alibi for murder? Sure, it's theoretically possible though that's quite a length to go to. But it's a tired plot device that encourages ableist behavior. Please stop, tv writers.
Note also that not all people who need a parking placard have a visible disability. Before you leave a nasty note or confront a person in disabled parking, remind yourself that you can't peer inside their body and see, for example, a damaged heart. But I'd rather deal with the police and show them my permit than have someone accost me in the parking lot.

Things disabled parking areas are not for:
Parking your bicycle
Able bodied people's cart return
Friend group hang out time
Things disabled parking areas are for:
Disabled parking
Disabled people getting in and out of their car
It should be easy right? Right??

Please don't park in the accessible spot if you don't have the badge for it! While I know the offending party in my case will not see this....maybe someone else will. We need those spots to unload wheelchairs. The stripes next to the spot lead to the only ramp for my building, so if that or the sidewalk is blocked, I can't get in or out of my house. Not to mention, these spots are specifically reserved for people who can't walk much or at all. It's one of the few wins we get, and there already are not enough spots for the number of disabled people who live here. If you use the spot even "just for a second" or because it looks like it is not needed at the moment, I will assume you're a shitty person.
