DFW Yard Cards
Please see our newest project www.dfwyardcards.com and www.mercybarlounge.com both great for event services such as birthdays, anniversaries, retirement party, special events, congrats, new born, fun surprise, company party, holiday celebrations, local support, fund raiser etc. As a DFW business owner, it is very important that we promote, network & support locally in DFW. G2web only takes on Texas clients with a good reputation & we will not take on a new client that would compete within another clients' service industry or a conflict of interest. I am looking for a cleaning tech, Janitor, cleaning service company, maid or cleaning crew of any type or DFW Fence Company or Texas Boutique to promote and support on all my social media channels. Do you know a business that needs visibility building, SEO & online marketing services? Thanks, Jennifer Glanton www.g2web.com 972-966-8337

The Big Texas Post
Y’know what’s funny? Explaining Texas culture to non-Texans.
People from Dallas: Dallasites. People from Houston: Houstonians. People from Austin: Weird.
Texas has two pro baseball teams, three pro basketball teams, two pro football teams, two pro soccer teams, and one pro hockey team (and tried to get a second in the Houston Aeros but that didn’t work out).
Most sports orgs are based in either Dallas or Houston, and the two cities have a rivalry that when left unchecked causes brawls in restaurants and bars (among other chaotic things). The general rule is that Houstonians hate Dallas, Dallasites hate Houston, everyone hates Austin, and San Antonio and El Paso are just the two kids in the corner trying to stay out of the fighting. However, if you’re from out-of-state and you hate on any of them, you’ll be the one on the receiving end of a beat-down because “no one messes with my little brother but me, damnit!”
Meanwhile, you have all the people who self-identify as being from one of the big cities even though they’re really from a suburb that’s about an hour away. Live in Spring, TX? “Oh, I’m from Houston.” Live in Arlington (which is where the Texas Rangers - largely considered a Dallas sports team - are located)? You’re considered from Dallas or the DFW area. We Texans don’t really care about the accuracy. We care more about whether or not you’re from the coast (Houston), the middle (Dallas/San Antonio), the weird (Keep Austin Weird was supposed to be a slogan that would promote mom-and-pop small businesses in the city. The rest of Texas leapt on the opportunity to make fun of it. Sorry, Austin), the border (El Paso, Texarkana), or somewhere out in the middle of nowhere. The state’s too big to get into the nitty gritty.
And don’t even get me started on college rivalries. You’ve got U of H, UT, A&M, SFA, and even more acronyms and mascots and history and - well, let’s just say it can all get out of hand. Actually, A&M and UT refuse to play each other anymore out of stubbornness - they hate each other that much. (Personally, I land on the Aggie side of things. Anyone who goes so far as to genetically engineer maroon bluebonnets to prank another school has earned my affection. Though UT can give as good as they get.)
Some other weird/fun things about Texas include: - Drive through margarita places - Kolaches (which are a Czech sweet pastry that we bastardized into a savory breakfast option) - The Battle for the Boot (I kid you not, two baseball teams compete against each other for a silver cowboy boot every once in a while. It’s the silliest and yet most Texan thing ever.) - Buck-ees - The second largest port in the US (the amount of people who don’t understand that yes, Houston is on the water, and yes, it has a booming transport industry is alarming) - Really good barbecue (ours is tomato based, which makes the sauce thick and sweet) - Strange laws including one where you’re not allowed to have pliers in the back pocket of your jeans (it’s a holdover from when cattle rustlers would use them to cut barbed-wire fences) - There’s a law where in the US, no state capital is allowed to be taller than the US capital. Texas built theirs on a hill - it’s not taller, it just happens to be... higher. - People argue over this one, but Texas DOES have the right to secede from the union. - Six Flags the theme park was named such because it stands for Six Flags Over Texas. Why? Texas has had six different flags flying over it: France, Spain, Republic of Texas, United States, Confederacy, and Mexico. Yes, you read that right: France. No, we were not acquired in the Louisiana Purchase. - Dry counties are a thing. No alcohol is allowed to be consumed or sold! That being said, a trailer park of 200 came together to create the town Mobile, TX so that they could sell and consume liquor in the 90s - In 1963, Janice Joplin was voted “Ugliest Man on Campus” at the University of Texas - The Houston Grand Opera is considered one of the best opera companies in the world!

A man wanted for the murder of a prominent Texas lawyer has been arrested, nearly six years after the gruesome incident in 2016. He is accused of pouring gasoline on the lawyer and setting him on fire.
Steven Aubrey, 61, was arrested Wednesday from Florida and was sent to Broward County Jail.
Aubrey allegedly beat attorney Ira Tobolowsky, doused him in gasoline and set him on fire in 2016. The accused was angry because the lawyer was representing his mother in a case against him, New York Post reported.
Aubrey was involved in a legal battle with his mother over his late father's estate. The man was cut out from a will because of his erratic behavior and he warned his mother that he would seek revenge if the document was not amended.
"You have 3 days to change your mind and apologize to me or else. Or else I will make it my mission to make the rest of your life miserable, as you deserve," Aubrey wrote in a 2012 email, D Magazine reported.
Ira, who was representing the suspect's mother in the bitter court battle, soon became the target of Aubrey's rage. He had even filed a defamation suit against Aubrey.
"When it happened, it was a horrible, horrible shock. He didn't have an enemy in the world, that we were aware of," Bob Hinton, a long-time friend of Ira's, told NBC DFW on Thursday. "This thing was just crazy the way that it fell out of sight."
The lawyer was the brother of actor Stephen Tobolowsky.
Investigators believe Ira was being watched prior to his death and found a man-made hole drilled in his backyard fence.
The lawyer was preparing to leave for work on May 13, 2016, when Aubrey allegedly assaulted him in his garage.
"An investigation determined Tobolowsky entered his garage and was near his car when Aubrey assaulted him, pouring gasoline on the victim, setting him on fire, causing his death," Dallas police said in a statement. "The Medical Examiner ruled Tobolowsky's death a homicide as a result of thermal burns, smoke inhalation, and blunt force trauma."
Aubrey was charged with capital murder Wednesday. He will be extradited to Texas and could face the death penalty.
"Ultimately, information, evidence gathered during the years-long investigation resulted in us making the arrest, and he was taken into custody in Oakland Park, Florida," said Dallas Police Department spokesperson Kristin Lowman, according to WSVN-TV.
"We've been working really hard to get to this arrest," Ira's son, Michael, told CBS News. The arrest is the "amazing news we have long waited for, for a long time."

BILBO WAS RIGHT!
Tumblr media
Swept off to …indeed!
“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
Bilbo Baggins ~ The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Truer words were never spoken; most who travel know this …the others sit on the couch. When I began the Teacher in Transition in 2020, the intent was to share how to adopt a way of life leaving behind a teaching career of thirty years. Primary among the goals of a successful transition was the ability to travel widely. Covid made obtaining checks on the list a bit difficult; but we’ve managed to go hiking in Arizona, camping in the Llano Estacado, traveling to Chicago, returning to Ireland and Scotland …not bad for two years. A unplanned addendum to this strategy occurred in January of ‘22 when my wife became a TRAVELING nurse. We were gonna hit the road in a bold, new fashion.
Out of the last 93 weeks, we’ve been on the road 62 of those weeks. Not exactly Charles Kurault or Anthony Bourdain but pretty damn adventurous. We have just returned from thirteen weeks living in Columbia, Missouri. It was an incredibly bittersweet departure as we were thoroughly charmed by the area, the mountains, the sites, the people and the city. I could see myself being there much longer. There’s always the guy who says, “you’ve said that about everyplace you’ve gone!” YEAH …WELL … I guess they’re right. What does this mean? I had a friend presume that I sure must hate East Texas. No, not hate; but definitely burned out on it. We avoided past opportunities to move to other places due to our children and to stay close to the old folks. Our boys have grown and now we are the elders and time waits for no one. Little two week vacations can no longer hold back the urge to get out of this place! (a salute to Eric Burdon and The Animals) But as Bilbo warned us …we have no idea where we might be swept off to!
Yes, new developments have occurred. There is a joy to returning to Nacogdoches for the interim six weeks between travel gigs, but with each adventure it seems less satisfying. It feels almost as if we no more than return home and get unpacked then I’m ready to get back to traveling. My wife is a bit more settled, but I see the adjustment struggle in her as well. It’s a positive struggle, because we know in a few weeks, we will be in completely new environs! It’s a mindset I never thought would develop, but …here ‘tis. It’s as if there is not anything to hold us here. I have wonderful friends at out cigar lounge, but truth be told our fondest Nacogdoches bonds all seem to be in the past. Our families all live in the Houston area or DFW or San Antonio or in the Blue Ridge. The only family members left in East Texas are …well, Kim, my almost ninety year old aunt and me. My Quadrumvirate all live away and we have numerous new friends from all over that we’ve met from our adventures. I …we didn’t fully anticipate this; but we’re not scared of it.
Traveling the world was always a “someday” state of mind; it’s someday and the clock is ticking. We’ve seen many other sides to the fence and in many cases the grass IS greener with mountains, new vistas, amazing cities, exotic tastes, mesmerizing art, new cultures, unique conversations, charming small towns, inspiring histories, and open minded folks. It’s a real scene man. It’s in Tuscany, in Missouri, in Mexico, in Canada, in Louisiana, in Edinburgh, in Austin, in Kentucky and on and on. These places we’ve been and will be soon. I love Nacogdoches and it was a sublime place to raise a family; but chapters come to a close as will the entire book one day. We have to see more. One day, Kim and I will find a quiet place to live out our lives, but in the interim …let’s see what’s over the hill.

WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE CHAIN LINK FENCING INSTALLED ON YOUR COMMERCIAL PROPERTY
If you own a commercial property that isn’t currently fenced in, then you may want to consider having a fence installed. Hiring a professional to install a chain link fence for you has a lot of awesome benefits and can help to improve your commercial property. Here are three reasons why it is important to have chain link fencing installed on your commercial property.
It Creates Clear Property Lines
One reason why it is so critical to have chain link fencing installed on your commercial property is because this helps to create clear property lines for everyone to see. This can help with any property disputes and can ensure that others keep off of your commercial property. This is nearly impossible to do without a fence.
It Protects Your Equipment
Since chain link fences can be customized to whatever height you desire, they are perfect for protecting your equipment. Many commercial and industrial locations have equipment right on site that need to be stored outside, but also need to be protected. However, storing items outside can make it difficult for you to protect them. This is where the chain link fence comes in because it provides a safe and secure enclosure.
It Allows For Full Visibility
Chain link fencing is also good for commercial locations because it doesn’t limit visibility. This is great because many of these commercial locations need the protection, but they also still need to have high visibility. The spaces between each of the links provide this and make it possible to see industrial equipment, construction sites, or whatever it is that you are fencing in.
To learn more great reasons to have a commercial fence installed around your commercial property, or to get the process of installing your commercial fence started today, visit us at DFW Fence Pro.

Why Hire a Wrought Iron Fence Painting Contractor?
Tumblr media
A strong fence enhances your home security and safety. Wrought iron boasts of sturdy and long-lasting features which make it an ideal fencing material. Here’s the thing though: You must apply a fresh coat of paint after some time to keep the fence looking pristine and prevent rusting. While you can opt to do it yourself , the risk of using the wrong paint will do more harm than good to the fence. This is where  professional iron fence painting services come in handy.
Here are the top benefits of hiring an iron fence painting contractor.
1. Saves Your Valuable Time and Money
Painting a wrought iron fence properly requires special knowhow and quality equipment. Instead of going through the hassle of researching how to do it right, you can save your precious time by hiring an expert. Thanks to their extensive experience and expertise, the pros will apply the painting fast according to your desired design. Letting other people handle a tiresome task frees up your time, allowing you to attend to other tasks.
As a homeowner, you might think the DIY method is cheaper. This is far from the truth. A hastily done  can end up costing you more in the long run. To be on the safe side, it is always best to work with professionals. What’s more, reputable wrought iron fence painting contractors have mastered the painting process. This enables those to complete the paint job fast. They also have a sufficient workforce to get the job done within a convenient timeline.
2. Top-Notch Materials
Reputable fence painting companies always invest in high-end equipment and painting materials. You can rest assured they will use the right brand of paint. At the end, you will have an exquisite, aesthetically, appealing, and long-lasting fence. The last thing you want is to use an old brush and have to repaint your fence after a poor job.
3. Skilled Painters
One of the benefits of hiring wrought iron fence painting services is guaranteed professionalism. Top of the line companies employ skilled and well-trained painters with experience in handling wrought iron. Having a rookie painter handling your fence painting job won’t even be on your radar. You can also rest assured knowing warranties are in place in case anything goes wrong.
4. Boost Property Value
A top Arlington fence painting company will increase your property value by enhancing curb appeal. The high-end appearance is crucial during resale as it endears property dealers. They will also avoid making mistakes that necessitate frequent repaints.
5. Adherence to Legal Requirements
States like Texas have regulations governing iron fence painting. Failure to adhere to these laws can lead to a fine. Fence painting contractors understand the procedures and adhere to the regulations. Hiring a company that has experience offering painting service in your area guarantees you top-notch quality service in line with the local laws.
Choose the Best
Hiring professional wrought iron painters provides numerous benefits. They save you precious time while ensuring you receive high-quality services. If you are planning to hire a fence painting contractor, don’t hesitate to contact As Good As New, LLC. We were award the Best Fence Company Award in Austin in 2016. Contact use for affordable and incredible DFW, Houston, and Austin wrought iron fence painting services.
