Detective Satan and assistant MC [Obey me Fic+Art]
A/N: Hello @tulipsaisle ! I'm your secret Santa! I decided to write a fic about an adventure with Satan and the mc :) I hope you enjoy it and - MERRY CHRISTMAS HOHOHO
Thanks @lemeowade for organising this event <3
(Btw I didn't get to proofread it, 'cause it's exam period for me now haha, I used this event to justify procrastinating lmao)
Rating: General Audiences

“Aha! More footsteps! Let’s follow them.” Satan cried out. You had been following the same trail of footsteps for 20 minutes already. You crossed the street, walked past majolish and that one store where Levi gets his manga. “Are you sure that it stayed within the city?” you asked, “If it left the city then there is no way we’ll find it again.” Satan wagged his finger. “Tsk, no no. Rule number one of sleuthing. Never give up once you have a trail. We will find this cat, even if it’s the last thing I’ll do!”
(1 hour earlier)
You and Satan left the catcafé after a well deserved break. A couple of weeks ago the place opened and the two of you had already become regulars, the cats even looked up when hearing your names. Quite adorable. “Did you see how Nifty rubbed her hear against me?” Satan asked, still on a high from the affection he got from the feline. “I did.” You responded. “It was so adorable! And the bell around her neck clanged so happily when you started playing with him.” Satan smiled more at that comment. The cats really seemed to like him and it was the biggest piece of joy in his life. You decided to head back to the house of Lamentation, because you still needed to study for a human charming test. Memorising spells sucks. You thought. You were looking around, trying to find anything and everything to use as an excuse not to go home when you suddenly saw Asmo running across the street. “GET BACK HERE YOU THIEF!” He yelled. “What is this all about?” You commented. Satan looked up, seemingly indifferent about the situation. “Hm? Don’t know, don’t care.” He said as he walked past his screeching brother. Asmo continued as he continued running into an ally. “GIVE ME MY NECKLACE BACK CAT! YOU FIEND!” …. Satan’s head whipped around and he came to a halt. “Cat?” He whispered. “Did he just say… Cat?” He enunciated every word. “I guess.” You said. “Let’s see what’s happening” He quickly responded. He grabbed your hand and rushed into the ally, following his brother. Wow, he switched his attitude quickly after hearing the word cat. You thought. However, you were very grateful to Asmo’s screeching. Now you could procrastinate more, yes!
The two of you entered the ally and saw Asmo yelling to a furry creature sitting atop the wall that closes the ally. “I said! Give it back!” He cried. The cat didn’t seem to pay him much mind. He wagged his tail while holding on to a shiny gold necklace. “What is going on?” Satan questioned. Asmo turned around: “O perfect!” He said, tears welling up in his eyes. “I just returned from buying that gorgeous necklace. I was going to wear it to school tomorrow, ‘cause it matched a shirt I have perfectly. However,” He turned again, now facing the cat. “This little THIEF, stole it from me!” The cat wagged his tail again, content to be out of reach. “I have been chasing it all through town!” The cat purred, enjoying the show. However, it soon became bored. It turned around and hopped down to the other side of the wall. “NOOO” Asmo cried once more. How can someone yell that much? You questioned. “Now I’ll never find it again.” He dejectedly looked down. “No need to fear dear younger brother of mine.” Satan said in a voice that can only be described as the voice of a protagonist. “It is clear to me now. This is a case for a detective and his assistant.” He put on a detective hat and was holding a magnifying glass. Where did those come from? “We will find that necklace for you!” He grabbed your hand. “Detective Satan and his assistant are on the care!” You interjected. “Can’t we both be detectives? Why do I have to be an assistant.” “Because every detective needs an assistant, everyone knows that. And I’m not gonna be one, so..” He shrugged his shoulders and Asmo asked. “So, will you two return my necklace?” Satan put his nose up into the air; “Of course dear younger brother, no need to fear. You just return home and well find that cat and return your jewellery.” “Yay!” Asmo commented. “Then I’ll leave it to you! Bye bye you two.” His good spirits seemed to have returned. Asmo strolled out of the ally, leaving Satan and you by yourselves. Wait no. I mean detective Satan and his assistant! “So, where do we start?” You asked. “Find clues.” He responded. “So, lets follow the trail this cat left behind until we find him and solve the case of the lost necklace!”
(Back to the present)
“Satan, we have been running around for over forty-five minutes, we questioned a bunch of people and cats and we’ve lost our trail. Maybe it’s time to call it quits and go home.” Your watch indicated that it was almost time for dinner. Luckily it wasn’t your day to cook, but still, you had had it with the detective stuff. “No!” He interjected. “We still haven’t found the cat, nor the necklace! We can’t return now. Asmo will lose all hope.” Right, that’s the reason. Not ‘cause you wanna continue playing Sherlock Holmes. “Fine. However, if we don’t find any more clues in the next fifteen minutes then I’m going home.” You said, giving an ultimatum. “Deal.” he quickly responded. You let out a sigh. The cat had disappeared from your sight a while ago, the chance that you’ll find it again was quite slim. However, the blond haired demon next to you refused to give up. It was quite admirable. You continued your search, questioning more passerbys and cats. You wondered if Satan really had learned the language of cats or if he was just messing around in the name of ‘questioning their kind’. Several minutes passed with no luck in finding clues. You looked at your watch once more: “It’s been fifteen minutes, Satan. Let’s return, I don’t think we’re gonna find it again.” You said to him, “Let’s give this one to the cats.” Satan looked down dejectedly. You were right. “It seems the great detective Satan has failed.” He sighed. You grabbed his hand and started walking towards the house of Lamentation. You passed the bookshop, the grocery store, the cat café where you were sitting an hour and a half ago and majolish where the crime first took place. Your eyes swept over the small ally next to the store. A flash shooting across it. Huh? You thought. What was that? Satan was still walking next to you. At first he was unaware of your discovery, he was still gloomy about his failure as a detective. However, then he felt you slowing your steps and your gaze was focused on a dark ally. “What is i-” He started, but he was interrupted when you swiftly pulled him into the ally. “There it is! The culprit!” You yelled. “What?!” He questioned perplexed. You let go of his hand, stealthily snuck upon the cat (without being noticed) and grabbed the necklace that he was holding in his mouth! “Got it! I got it, Satan!” You celebrated. You had been victorious! Satan grabbed your shoulders, a smile on his face. “Good job! Detective Satan and his assistant do it again!” Your brows furrowed. You shook your head, removed the detective hat from his head and put it on yourself. “Wrong.” You paused, looking at him dramatically. “It was detective MC and assistant Satan who cracked the case.”

Go nuts, buddy
HI :) disorganized Octopath thoughts: GO! If this ends up in the main tag for some reason I’m sorry this is a birthday exclusive infodump
Octopath traveler 2 is a JRPG available on the switch, PC, and PlayStation released in 2023 :) It follows 8 different protagonists, each with their own unique story that all intertwine into a much larger plot :) Each character is a different class!!! You pick a guy to start with and then go around the world map to pick up everyone else, this was my order as well as their stories
Hikari (warrior)- A kindhearted prince from the nation of Ku, who’s bloodline is cursed/possessed to intrusive thoughts of violence and bloodshed. After being framed for the death of his father, the king, by his brother Mugen and shunned from Ku, he journeys to raise an army to take back his nation and lead it to a future without bloodshed.
Castti (apothecary)- found at sea with no memories, the only clues she has to who she was are a bloodstained journal and an apothecary’s satchel. She’s caring and compassionate. Meeting a strange apothecary named Malaya, she journeys to recover her lost memories.
Partitio (merchant)- a warm, sunshine-y country boy from a silver mining town. After his town became overtaken by capitalists, he experienced the horror of poverty firsthand. He journeys to see the world and end the cruel clutches of capitalism through commerce.
Agnea (dancer)- A small town girl with a big heart and bigger passion to make people smile through dance. After saving enough money to travel the world, she journeys to bring joy to the world, like her late mother did.
Ochette (hunter)- An energetic beastling, a race which lives in harmony with nature. After the feared “Scarlet Night” threatens her island home, she journeys to bring the three guardian dieties of the land back to the island.
Throné (thief)- a cutthroat assassin from the underground organization known as the Blacksnakes. Despite how she can take a life faster than tying a shoe, she despises the scent of blood and longs to be free. She journeys to take the life of the leaders of the Snakes to earn her freedom.
Temenos (cleric)- sharp-tongued “inquisitor” of the church of flame, who functions as a sort of detective. After a dastardly murder of the pontiff and tensions between the Sacred Guard, he journeys to find the truth of the church’s intrigue.
Osvald (scholar)- A gruff, stoic man. He used to be a magic professor, but was framed for the murder of his wife and child and sentenced to life in prison. He journeys to kill the man who took everything from him, Harvey.
The gameplay is turn based with a focus on exploring weaknesses in order to get foes into a vulnerable state. It’s also pretty big on setting up! The biggest thing though is known as the boost mechanic that powers up your moves in 3 increments, timing your boosts right combined with buffing and breaking foes results in super satisfying gameplay <|:•)
Each characters story is separated into chapters, depending on the character there’s different amounts of chapters! For example Hikari has 5 chapters, but Temenos only has 4 because his chapter 3 is separated into two routes (like 3a and 3b) while Ochette only has 3 because her chapter 2 is separated into three routes. Besides a recommended level, you can literally play them in any order! You can focus on one characters story or do one chapter for each traveler, it’s whatever you want!!! And besides your main traveler, you can switch out the members of your party and organize them any way you’d like!!!
Each character has “path actions”, where you can interact with NPCs as you explore the world. You have different actions based on if it’s day or night. For example, Hikari can challenge NPCs to a one on one fight to gain access to new skills in battle, and at night he can spend money to bribe NPCs for information. Throné, however, can steal items from NPCs during the day, and knock people out at night. Many path actions intersect in use (Osvald, Castti, Temenos, and Hikari all have a path action to gain information) but they vary! Osvald’s is percentage based (ex. 80% chance to obtain information), Castti’s is level based (ex need to be level 30 to gain information, but it’s guaranteed) Temenos’ is battle based (must break an NPC in battle to gain information), and Hikari’s is money based (need to have the money to bribe people and gain information)
You don’t need to know anything about the original octopath to play it, but there’s cool references and the like
Ok I think that’s good for a basic overview. Bonus LGBT headcanons :)
-Agnea: Bi trans ace (she/her)
-Throné: Trans lesbian (they/she)
-Osvald: #straightosvaldsaturday + ace spec (he/him)
-Castti: Sapphic ace (she/her)
-Hikari: non binary bi ace spec (he/they)
-Temenos: queer non binary (any pronouns)
-Ochette: Agender aro (any pronouns)
-Partitio: Trans bi (he/him)
-Crick: Gay man (he/him)
Speaking of headcanons I have over 13 pages of them. Oops. Every time someone likes this post I’ll share one ok bye

Love Return (Afterstory of Precious Gift)
Word Count:2339
Date Published: June 21, 2021
Kaito have thought that he will be able to obtained the jewel before the year ends the moment he inherited the 'family business' and finally avenged his father who was the first magician under the moonlight, Kaitou Kid. But, who would've thought that two years has went by and he's still on the search for the jewel named 'Pandora'? Moreover, his supposed to be relationship with Aoko ended long ago when the guilt he tried so hard to hide in his heart slowly swallowed him whole.
The moment Aoko confessed her feelings for him, Kaito was overyjoyed, happy that finally, the girl he has been secretly loving has love him back however... the feeling of guilt prevented him from accepting her feelings and the possible danger he might put her in, which is why he lied. A lied that made her shed tears and run away, leaving him in tears as well without the girl he had love knowing. But you know what he didn't regret? Kaito didn't regret opening his heart once more, to someone who unexpectedly made their way into his broken heart and healing it.
"Edogawa Conan, Tantei sa. (a detective.)"
A love that secretly planted itself in his heart the moment he met a hinder in his heist, a hinder that soon brought thrill, joy, and a helping hand the longer he encounters the tiny detective... who wasn't just any mere child after discovering the surprising truth.
Kaito was both amused and curious upon discovering the supposed to be 7 years old kid was actually a 17 years old high school detective. Kudo Shinichi, a high school detective of the East attending Teitan High. Without knowing, he started to became attached to the detective, sharing bittersweet memories, life threatening ones, and soon, he finally understood the unknown feeling he has towards the tiny detective.
Standing atop a skyscraper with the stolen jewel in hand, Kid looked down and sees the detective in his skateboard, hurrying to go back home with the gift in hand. Kid smiled upon seeing this as he looked up at the bright full moon. To think he, a phantom thief, will do such a dangerous thing and risked his life in order to obtained a drug that will helped a detective. Has the world gone mad? No, only his love towards his Metantei has caused him to do such a thing. Shinichi was the reason after all, the reason why he still has the willpower to continue his mission in search for a jewel that doesn't seem to exist and...
"The reason why this magician learned to love once again, without the fear of losing someone."
***
A few weeks flew by and finally, Kaito's birthday came. Usually, he would enjoy the attention he's getting from everyone where he receives all sort of birthday presents and greetings however this year, he doesn't feel like celebrating it. The feeling of emptiness seems to continue existing in his chest, which he doesn't know when and why it existed. Maybe when his precious Metantei stopped appearing when he holds a heist? He doesn't know but what he knows is that, he wishes to see his detective once more, because during tonight's heist-
"It'll be the last."
"I see you finally found the jewel that you seek."
Hearing this, Kaito turned around to see Akako sitting down on one of the table with her arm crossed and leg resting atop the other with a smile on her face. It's a good thing that class is over and it's only the two of them still present in the room. No matter how many times he tries to convince her, she stills undoubtedly thinks he's Kaitou Kid, which she's right but still won't dare reveal himself. Kaito will only reveal himself to one person, and that person is currently nowhere to be seen causing the magician to frowned and turned away.
Ignoring her words, he grabbed his bag and another one filled with presents he got from the class and was about to leave when Akako spoke once more, causing him to stopped on his tracks when he hears a familiar word.
"Then I presume you wouldn't want to know what The Demon of Light is up to?"
"Metantei?"
"... I'm just a normal University student, Akako. Whatever the Great Detective of the East does isn't my business."
Lies. Kaito has been itching to know how Shinichi has been for the passed few weeks of not seeing him. Did he finally made an antidote? Did he succeeded in returning back to his body? Will he... will he see him again? A lot of questions has been running in his mind that he sometimes has a hard time falling asleep at night. Who wouldn't when the person that you love dearly keeps on invading your mind? While distracted, Akako placed a hand on his shoulder which the magician only noticed when she spoke one last time before leaving him be with his thoughts and the surprising words she left.
"The Demon of Light that you hold dearly will appear tonight. This information is the only present I will be giving you, Kuroba-kun."
***
The moment Akako said those words, the hole in his chest disappeared in an instant by the thought of seeing his Metantei once again. He should be focusing on the heist that will start in about a minute but his mind keeps on wandering to the detective. How will the heist go now that the Great Detective is back to his body? Will it be the same as before or will the appearance of the famous detective who hadn't shown himself in the face of the media prevent him from getting the jewel? Either way, the thrill and adrenaline he's currently feeling still remains.
With a wide grinned on his face, the countdown begins.
"San. Ni. Ichi!!!"
Once the clock hits 9 o'clock, the Museum was suddenly covered with smoke with the Task Force already expecting it where they came prepared as they wore a smoke mask, not knowing the filter has been removed giving the smoke an entryway knocking every Task Force unconscious. As much as Kid wants to enjoy his final heist, it's finally the jewel he's been looking for so there's no time to have fun. As well as the reason that both the Organization has already heard of the jewel being possibly Pandora and his dear Metantei presence in the building.
After making sure everyone is asleep, he turned around to go and grabbed the jewel but was stopped by hearing a gunshot being fired to his direction. Knowing that Nakamori-keibu and his Task Force wouldn't dare fire a gun at him, he knew who the person responsible for this as he raised both hands up above his head. Thankfully, the bullet missed him but still left a hole on his white cape.
"To think you'll make things easier by knocking the annoying police for us. Now, step away from the jewel, Kaitou Kid."
Kid didn't move an inch after hearing Snake's instruction. Does he really think he'll surrender the jewel that quickly by firing a gun at him? He's willing to leave this place half dead if he has to so no threat will make him-
"Or do you prefer to see your favorite detective drop dead to the ground?"
Kid's mind went blank the moment he heard a muffled whimper from behind him, causing the phantom thief to quickly turned around and quickly let out a groaned when a bullet grazes his shoulder. Right in front of his eyes is a kid that's around Conan's age, head covered with burlap sack preventing him from getting a better look of the kid. So his Metantei failed to make an antidote? Is the reason why he stopped appearing whenever he holds a heist was because he was held hostage by the Organization?
This thought infuriated the Phantom Thief causing the men in black to laughed seeing how they finally have something that is a weakness against the magician. No mask can ever covered the anger Kid is feeling and before he could make any rash decisions, he heard his voice.
"What do you think are you doing acting all defenseless like that? Kid."
The wrath Kid was feeling disappeared into thin air and was replaced with the familiar feeling of excitement he always seem to feel whenever he's together with him. Turning around while holding his injured shoulder, his eyes met the ocean blue eyes he always adores and returning the sly smile on the detective face with a grinned. He successfully got his body back huh?
Snake and the rest was taken aback with the sudden appearance of the detective of the East but wasn't that fazed as they all pointed their guns at the two, having the feeling that they are the ones in control of the situation without knowing the Museum being surrounded by the police. The moment he heard a go signal in the earpiece Shinichi is wearing, he pulled Kid behind him upon hearing a loud bang behind the men in black, succeeding with distracting them as he kicked the smoke mask on the floor aiming it towards Snake's face. After Snake let out a loud groaned and letting go of the gun, the police quickly stormed in and surrounded the rest of Snake's men with the kid safely recovered and in Takagi's hands.
Shinichi let out a sighed of relief as he turned his gazed to Kid who's still stunned with everything that is happening before his eyes with mouth slightly parted. The detective only smiled at him while suggesting that they should talk elsewhere. Before Kid could protest and tried reaching for the jewel, his Metantei quickly pulled him away from the crowd and lead him up to the rooftop of the building.
Kid couldn't do anything and followed the detective as they climb up the flight of stairs. While staring at Shinichi's back, Kid couldn't control his emotions as he pulled the detective in his arms from behind, not giving him the chance to swung the open door to the rooftop as they stopped on their track. He could just steal the jewel again some other time but right now, he doesn't have any plan on letting go his Metantei who might disappear if he takes his eyes off him for a second.
When has it come to this? To think that he couldn't bear to no longer see Shinichi after constantly waiting for only a few weeks. Just the thought of waiting for him once more makes his heart ache. When did he became this vulnerable when it comes to the detective? Has he always love him this much? He doesn't know and he doesn't care anymore as long as he's with the detective that he holds dearly.
Shinichi wasn't any different from the magician embracing him from behind. The loud thumping on his chest when he thought he was already too late upon hearing a gunshot, the fast beating of his heart when finally seeing Kid for the first time in awhile, and... the feeling of passion and affection the phantom thief is currently showing him. He didn't made the wrong decision after all. Loving this idiot yet gentle magician was all worth it, and...
He's finally giving him his gift.
Shinichi placed a hand on Kid's arm asking him to be let go for a second which the the phantom thief reluctantly did, stepping a few steps away from him, he started talking.
"Remember what you said during that night? That, you might consider offering yourself instead as a present? Well, what will the famous Phantom Thief do if I steal that idea of yours, offering this Great Detective to you as a gift for this special occasion?"
With a wide grinned on Shinichi's face yet still not being able to hide the flustered expression he has, he slowly took out something from his pocket and placed it on the magician's hand. Kid couldn't helped but let his mask dissolved as it finally shows the expression and emotion that tells how overjoyed and delighted he is with hearing the detective's words. Uncovering his hand, a simple small red box revealed itself on his palm, snickering with how the detective is copying the way he handed him his gift except for the kneeling part.
"Happy Birthday, Kid."
"I don't think that whatever is inside this box can be compared to how much I want you to be mine."
"Oh believe me, you will be elated to see what's inside the box."
With a look of doubt on his face, he still opened the box and was greatly surprised to see the exact same jewel he saw earlier placed neatly inside, with a note attached to the lid part causing Kid's heart to flutter and tear up from this surprised present.
Pandora.
(I, too, no longer what to see my dear magician suffering. )
As the tears finally stream down his face, the door swung open as the strong night breeze comes in and the bright moonlight shining behind his Metantei who's smiling brightly at him. Kid couldn't helped but smiled back despite the tears in his eyes as he finally removed the monocle and the top hat off, indicating that Kaitou Kid's time has finally ended.
"You kept your words huh? Metantei."
"Didn't I told you? I will capture you before this year ends. Now, accept your fate Kuroba Kaito-kun."
He even already knows who he was? He is truly the great detective and will always be his Metantei. Kaito wiped his tears off and finally embraced Shinichi once more as he drops his monocle and top hat to the ground, saying one last thing that made Shinichi broke into a smile before returning back the kiss of passion the magician has given him.
"Well then, please take care of me from now on, Shinichi."
"I'm your problem now and you're mine."

Should You Watch Undead Murder Farce?
Tumblr media
(Japanese title: Undead Girl Murder Farce)
A Brief Summary
In an alternate universe where demons and monsters still exist, one half-oni is living out his days in a fight club, just waiting to die.  That is, until a genius detective manages to catch his eye.  With promises of extending his life in an exchange to end her immortal one, the two pair up - along with the detective’s maid who happens to be handy with a rifle.  The trio solves some mysteries in Japan before going global, searching for the man who wronged them both and meeting some familiar literary figures along the way.
With so many scheming people together - friend and foe - it’s a battle of who can out-think and out-detective each other in order to win the day.
So, should you watch the anime?
Yes!
To be fair, I have a predilection for media (shows, books, whatever) where geniuses keep trying to out-do each other.  I love a person with a plan that’s thinking 30 steps ahead in 5D chess.  And this show is abundant with that character type.  I also like it when a show can keep me on my toes.  Undead Murder Farce kept up a lot of mystery throughout, which also makes it kind of hard to talk about in fear of spoiling things.
The season is made up of several arcs, each 2-3 episode arc involving a specific mystery to be solved.  There is also a general mystery tying things together and giving reasons for our characters to come together.  Our detective trio often clashes with an organization made up of supernatural beings, sometime works alongside vigilantes, and tend to end up meeting a whole lot of interesting folk.
I was a bit skeptical when the show made a change from the Japanese setting to Merry Olde England, and also wary for our detective hero party to suddenly be in the realm of probably the most well known detective in all fiction, but this show managed to pull it off.  Sherlock didn’t steal the show.  Lupin may have. ;)
One of my least favorite characters in Undead Murder Farce is the maid body-guard.  She didn’t seem to have much point in the plot-line besides being sullen and getting into certain… situations… but you know what, I bet there are people who really like her and those situations, so I’m not upset, lol.
The animation is really nice and action sequences flow well.  I am a fan of the character design so that gets a win from me, but I know that’s always a subjective thing.  But if you like any of the faces you see in the image for this article, then you’ll be good to go.
I have to mention the absolute banger of an OP this anime has as well.  It gave me big K-Pop vibes (in a good way).  I did a little digging and the group that performs the OP is part of the K-Pop world, so I guess that vibe makes sense.  It’s a song I can easily recall even half a year later (which is kind of a rarity with the amount of anime I watch), and it sparked joy every week.
For me, characters are a big part of what makes me enjoy a story, so what kind of characters does Undead Murder Farce have jam-packed within each mystery-solving episode?
A slightly perverted and laid-back Rakugo-styled half-oni experiment that can put up a mean fight with a smile always on his face (Tsugaru).
An immortal genius looking for someone to end said immortality - oh and also looking for her body as she’s currently just a very intelligent head in a cage (Aya Rindou).
A military-esque maid who can keep up with the monsters around her, though she also somehow ends up in rather sapphic situations (Shizuku).
A gentleman thief that’s always a few steps ahead of his detective opponents and tends to add a dramatic flourish to all he does (Arsene Lupin).
The big detective himself, full of snark and confident that he is the alpha detective in Europe, despite the supernatural competition (Sherlock Holmes).
The epitome of a polished lady who isn’t afraid to show off her assets and also sink her teeth - quite literally - into anyone who gets in her way (Carmilla).
Plus a whole heaping of other figures from literature and supernatural origins, including the mother-fucking Phantom of the Opera.  Just because.
I skipped on a few key spoiler characters as this anime is all about mystery, and who am I to give it away?
Where does it rate on my personal scale?
S: I will buy it at full price (unless it’s released by Aniplex USA, because fuck their pricing).
->A: I will buy it on sale sometime down the line.
B: I had fun watching it, but don’t need to own it.
C: It’s not my cup of tea, but wasn’t awful.
D: Dropped it.
X: Finished it out of spite, but did not enjoy it.
Undead Murder Farce was a lot of fun to watch, so it gets an A ranking from me.  It was probably my favorite anime of the summer 2023 season, and the show I most looked forward to watching every week.  While some mysteries were solved in the 12 episodes that aired, we’re still missing a resolution for the over-arching plot lines.  I very much hope we get a season 2!

Signs That Your Past Relationships May Be Haunting You
Tumblr media
Hey Friends,
Sometimes, the ghosts of relationships past can haunt our current love stories, causing unnecessary complications and misunderstandings. 👻💔 But how can you tell if your past relationship is negatively affecting your current one? Don't fret, my love detectives, I've got the clues you need!
You hide a part of your personality 🎭 If you find yourself concealing aspects of who you are because of past experiences, it's time to step into the light and be your authentic self. Remember, your partner should love you for who you truly are. To avoid hiding parts of your personality, it's important to foster self-acceptance and embrace your authenticity. Start by acknowledging your unique qualities and recognizing that it's perfectly okay to be yourself. Cultivate self-awareness by reflecting on your thoughts, emotions, and actions. Share your thoughts and feelings with trusted friends or a supportive confidant to build a sense of safety and vulnerability. When engaging with others, be open-minded, non-judgmental, and receptive to different perspectives, which can encourage reciprocity and acceptance of your true self. Finally, remind yourself that personal growth is a journey, and it's perfectly natural to evolve and reveal different facets of your personality over time.
Tumblr media
Constantly worrying about being hurt 😰💔 Past heartbreak can leave emotional scars, but don't let fear hold you back from fully embracing your current relationship. Trust that you and your partner can navigate the ups and downs together.
Self-reflection: Take time to understand the lessons and insights gained from your past heartbreak. This self-awareness will help you make better choices in your future relationships.
Emotional healing: Allow yourself to grieve and process the pain from the past. Seek support from friends, family, or a therapist to help you cope with any lingering emotional scars.
Set healthy boundaries: Establish clear boundaries in your new relationship, based on your past experiences. Open and honest communication is key to ensure both you and your partner feel secure.
Trust at your own pace: Rebuilding trust after a heartbreak takes time. Allow yourself to trust again gradually, and give your new partner the chance to prove their sincerity and reliability.
Stay in the present: Try not to dwell on past hurts or let them overshadow the potential for happiness in your current relationship. Focus on the here and now.
Be patient with yourself: Remember that healing and moving forward is a gradual process. Don't rush into a new relationship until you feel ready, and be kind to yourself throughout the journey.
Learn from the past: Use your past experiences as a source of strength and wisdom, enabling you to make healthier choices in your new relationship.

Comparing your current partner to your ex 📊🚫 Every relationship is unique, so comparing your current partner to your ex only sets everyone up for failure. Focus on the qualities that make your current love special, and leave the past where it belongs. Comparison is the thief of joy. Practice gratitude towards and acceptance of the current partner you have and try to live in the present with them.

Struggling to trust and open up 🧱🔓 Trust is the cornerstone of any healthy relationship, but past betrayals can make it difficult to let your guard down. Work on building trust with your current partner and remember that they're not the one who hurt you in the past. Trusting new partners after experiencing betrayal can be challenging, but it is possible with time and effort:
Self-Healing: Prioritize your own emotional healing and self-care. Give yourself time to process the betrayal, seek therapy or counseling if needed, and work on rebuilding your self-esteem.
Open Communication: Communicate your concerns and expectations with your new partner. Be honest about your past experiences and how they have impacted your ability to trust.
Set Clear Boundaries: Establish healthy boundaries that make you feel safe and respected in the new relationship. These boundaries should be communicated and respected by both you and your partner.
Observe Consistency: Pay attention to your new partner's behavior over time. Trust is built through consistent, reliable actions. Take note of whether your partner follows through on promises and commitments.
Build Trust Gradually: Trust is earned, so allow it to develop naturally. Start with small acts of trust and gradually increase the level of trust as you become more comfortable and confident in the new relationship.
Seek Support: Lean on friends, family, or a therapist for support and guidance as you navigate this process. They can offer valuable insights and help you work through your feelings.
Practice Forgiveness: While forgiveness is not about excusing the betrayal, it can be a powerful tool for your own healing. It doesn't mean forgetting, but it can help release the burden of past pain.
Be Patient: Rebuilding trust takes time, and progress may be slow. Patience and understanding, both for yourself and your new partner, are essential.Remember that each person and situation is unique. Trusting a new partner after betrayal is a personal journey, and it's important to prioritize your emotional well-being and take the time you need to build a solid foundation of trust in your new relationship.

Tumblr media
“Now… let’s have some real fun…”
With those words you were truly rattled. Heart pounding in your chest. Fun? What did he mean by… fun?? And honestly, the best bet was the one thing a love hotels for-
The devil's tango.
“Is it.. ok? Can I have some fun with you?”
Kokichi asked, in a low hushed voice. You turned your head to the side and think.
Was this..just teasing? What he did, when he kissed- it didn’t feel fake. It felt real; genuine. Like he truly did love you. But… is he doing this just to toy with your heart? It was all too confusing to you. The idea to love a thief…
He stole your heart. Was he satisfied?
Turning back, you slowly nodded and he grinned from ear to ear. A snake ready for its prey.
Swiftly, Kokichi pulled down your pants/skirt and threw it to the ground. An excessive blush grew across your face to the tips of your face.
Honestly, you knew he’d do something like that. A certain… sensual attraction had grown between you and Kokichi.
For him, seeing you underneath him. So helpless and scared. It made his pants tighten, a tent forming from his crotch. What a helpless virgin! So worry full and shaky underneath his starving body.
Oh- what joy it will be to ravage such a beauty.
You longed for touch, kisses and physical affection from the little prankster this very moment.
Well… he did mean what he said, after all.
Your underwear was swiftly thrown away, too. A cold breeze coming to your private areas.
“I can’t wait to taste you, fearful detective…”
He confessed. A dark shadow casting over his face.
Oh boy- you thought. What is he gonna-
Something slim and slender touched at you. Teasing you. You moaned softly, gazing down at what Kokichi was doing. He kept fingering you with his playful hands.
With one hand, he ripped off your shirt and lifted up your bra. Great… now he exposed your entire body. Fondling your nipples, a grand new pleasure swept over you.
The sensation made the lewd noises come out of you. Even though you were trying to stifle them with everything you got. He rubbed your fold with a skilled hand.
Two circles.. one circle.. three circles..
In your head, you tried to count the many times Kokichi’s digits circled your fresh cunt. The pads of his fingers danced along. As he kept going, you lost track of how many times he did so.
Briskly; you felt a knot form in your stomach.
“K-kichi’ gasp- I’m g-gonna..”
Gently the male brought up his hand from the now soaking wet cunt. Fluid dripping from his finger tips. He licked them for show- making you embarrassed and even more horny.
He knew exactly what you were talking about.
“Not right now, dear. Cmon… let’s play some more…”
He cheerfully pulled down his pants, lazily tossing them to the side. All that was left was his underwear, separating you and him from doing the deed.
With the speed of a horny teenager, he dropped his underwear and exposed his whole sense to you.
Being the virgin you are, you’ve never seen a man's… sex before. This was a first for you- and you reacted adorably flustered.
“Wait! Oh wooow, this is your first time havi sex, huh? Don’t worry, I’ll go slow for you, fearful detective!”
And with his signature laugh- he teased you once again. You groaned.
Locking hands with you gingerly, he pushed his hip slowly into you. The feeling of him inside you took over all your senses. You trembled underneath him, clenching around him.
His cock was slim, veiny- but not unsatisfactory. It’s clear that’s he’s done this… deed some times before.
You covered your mouth with arm, trying to contain the amount of moans that are about to escape from your mouth.
Kokichi pulled out, only to go back in again.
Over and over again.
The same swift and rough pace kept going. You latched onto the back of his head- pulling his soft locks. He fondled every part of your glistening body. From your chest to your cunt.
Your vision started to blur, and the pleasure took over everyone one of your senses. Lustful senses.
Pounding in and out. Two bodies together in a moment of lust and ecstasy.
He truly was- to put it- fucking you so hard that the bed was squeaking furiously with every sharp thrust Kokichi did with his hips.
“Kichi- I-I’m..” you tried to say through the heavy panting, breath ragged. His hot breath trailing down your neck.
“It’s ok… you can do it.” He replied.
You orgasmed with delight, the wave of fluid and euphoria came out of your puffy red cunt. He pulled out, ejaculating a stream of milky white onto your sweaty body.
Both of you took a minute to regain some strength. And to stop huffing and puffing.
Kokichi started to get dressed while you laid there, still wondering what the fuck you were doing.
“That was fun! Let’s do this again, detective. I promise- next time you catch me, I’ll really let you in control…”
And with a deep kiss on your lips, Kokichi scurried out of the room.
Leaving a very confused and now angry detective behind.
“K-KOKICHI!!!”

Humans are Space Orcs, “A Mental Thread.”
Hello everyone! I hope you are having a good day. I, as I just learned, got a 5.5 out of 6 on my GRE writing score, which is in like the 98th percentile. You guys may not care, but I had to tell someone! I am so excited.
I guess all this writing paid off.
Anyway I hope you have a great day!
Conn was afraid.
Fear was not something that the starborn usually experienced on a regular basis, and when he had lived with his own kind emotions had been remote, experienced through the lens of others and the collective consciousness they had shared
But now, alone in his own thoughts and feelings…. He was afraid, an emotion familiar to all species but one that brought itself to a horrible crescendo with his familiarity with humanity, and the way they experienced emotion so poignantly.
He had seen something, he wasn’t sure what.
From the minds of humans, he had come to be familiar with bright flashes of light and loud noises that blind the senses, and he would compare his earlier experience to that, being exposed to such a vast well of….. something , that he was both blinded and deafened to the world around him.
For the second time.
When he awoke he found himself floating in the ship’s infirmary. As a starborn he could not detect the brightness or dimness of light, but only its presence so understanding only the blue of the room around him as he was unable to peer into any thoughts close by. Reaching out with his memory, and trying to latch onto the nearest thing familiar, he finally found his first living being down the hall asleep in their bed. He flicked through their dreams like he was thumbing through a deck of cars.
So colorful, and so confusing, a landscape of single images stitched together into a veneer of reality, though it was simply a scaffold of thought that could be torn down in an instant of the human in question was to simply notice how strange the logic of their dreams were.
But they accepted it and moved forward their minds functioning as if the dream realm was a real place.
He took solace in these strange dreams, not because they were familiar or something he could easily understand, but because they were calming and soft and take, and couldn’t hurt him. Even the humans felt nothing in their own dream despite the frustration of being unable to run without great effort, as if they were moving through water or syrup.
Conn lifted his head and floated gently out into the hallway.
Fear tingled like fire through his limbs, but he was calm, and let the calmness of the sleeping humans seap around and past him. He didn’t really know what he was doing but he followed his fear down a thread and through the ship. No one saw him go, and no one knew that he was awake, most of them still slept and that was alright by him.
And so he followed a familiar thread to a familiar mind, not sure what he expected to find, but sure that he would find something.
He paused outside the door billowing this way and then that staring inward at the delicate veins of the human brain. He could see it almost as if it were a visual phenomena, the sparking electrical currents of thought that ruptured across the outside of the brain like a net of brightly lit thread.
WIth each spark, he could easily predict the path of the thread and connected it to the wider neural process of thoughts. He couldn’t have pinpointed an exact source or what an exact neuron was doing, there were far too many of them, but he could still sense them there, he could still sense the thoughts and their connection to everything around.
The human brain was a strange and wonderful thing, and for the longest time he had considered it his playground to do with as he would, to dance on those strings of light and pluck at threads of thought like someone plucks at the strong of an instrument.
But now, now he wasn’t so sure.
He really shouldn't have been here, meddling with things that he shouldn’t be meddling with.
But that was hardly his nature, and so he threaded his mind into the shape of a probing needled, and plunged delicately inward.
Funny how the human thought process could be traced to a specific region of the brain.
Images flashed before him melding together with sounds and memories, which rolled over the surface of the brain like great waves on an electrical sea. He watched as decisions were made in the frontal lobe based on those sensations in the occipital lobe and the parietal lobe.
He watched as the movement center of the brain fired despite the paralysis that locked the limbs in place.
He plunged a little bit deeper, felt the veins of emotion, and the welling of fear, he knew that if he stroked long enough at those places, he himself could cause a sense of unease to grow up in the mind of the human, perhaps waking him from his strange and restful slumber, but the last thing he wanted to do was wake the sleeping creature, and so he stole forward like a thief steals through the darkness of a silent building.
He was deep inside now, not entirely sure where he was, memory was such a hard thing to understand, and he sometimes found trouble pinpointing the origin. He knew it was…. Sort of all over the brain, from the brain stem to the cerebrum, though how it all connected was too complicated for him to figure out. Perhaps if he had more time or inclination he would have taken a look, but he didn’t really care, and thought it was best to leave the study of human brains to the humans and other extraterrestrials
If they wanted it, they would have to come and find it themselves.
As he went he experienced smells and tastes and colors and light and dark. He felt happiness and fear and joy and sadness. All in one moment he could have rent the air with a scream or his heart might have burst out of his chest in joy. Either he was floating on a cloud or he was descending into the budapest depths of depraved sadness from which it felt that he could not crawl.
But it all passed as he pressed deeper and deeper into the human’s unconscious mind, searing and searching, sifting through folds and memories, trying to find…. What?
What was he trying to find.
He thought he had searched everything here, but he knew that could not be the case.
He knew he had gone to far when he made his way down and ran headlong into the brain stem. It was strange to think that there were parts of a human body they did not have active control over. For a moment he sat, watching as the brain ignited the beating of the heart and the slow expanding and contracting of the lungs. He felt as the brain initiated digestion through the lower body, and even felt in his own limbs as blood pulsed through the human's fingers. No, he did not think he would find it here.
Whatever he was looking for was… somewhere in the unconscious, he was sure of that, but where?
Memory perhaps.
But memory was such a large palace? The human mind, and even his own held onto so much that to look through it all would have taken a lifetime. But what kind of memory was he looking for anyway.
He pushed to think, and then delved further.
He saw airplanes and vast open sky. He saw faces and people and heard little snatches of conversation like you might walking down a hall past open doorways. Again he felt the welling of emotions rolling over him like waves in a sea, though he ignored them for the mostpart. He could almost visualise the human’s stored memories as if he was walking down a very long hallway that grew darker and darker the longer he went, and the closer they got towards the end the more fleeing and confused the memories became until thy were nothing more than shadows and flickered memories of color and light, but still…. There seemed to be something beyond.
WIth trepidation, he continued his way down the proverbial hallway, until he had made his way towards the end and finally stopped just before the widening blackness.
There was nothing here
Nothing here but a single hair-thin thread that ran back into the darkness.
He looked at that thread, looked away and then slowly began to back his way out of the human’s mind. He did not want to follow that thread, did not want to know where it might lead. A horrible feeling was welling up inside him, and he was not interested in finding out despite his general proclivity towards getting himself into other people’s business.
He continued to back away until he found himself back inside his own head sitting there staring at the net of electricity that crisscrossed the human’s brain. And from there he turned musingly, away from the sleeping figure and back towards the rest of the ship.
He had to know.
Conn had to know that it wasn’t just a fluke, but wasn’t sure what it would mean if he did discover it.
He needed another human.
And he found that human lying flat on his back in one of the shared rooms, mouth open and drooling rather theatrically. Conn almost wondered if he was pretending to be asleep, but upon seeing the activity of his brain he knew it wasn’t faking.
He picked this human specifically because of his straightforward he was. He wasn’t confused, he wasn’t complicated, and he wasn’t holding some deep dark secret -- Conn knew he had already checked.
So he leaned forward and into it driving down through his thoughts and emotions until he reached the haway of memory. It was just like before, in the same general place. Stepping inside he could hear the sound of laughter, see faces, and heard the sharp cutting of metal over ice. Spotlights danced in the distance, and music played from somewhere unknown.
And there he went down the years, listening to the strange babble of human language, two of them overlapping and conjoining in this human’s mind. He could see the darkness at the end of the hallway and paused. What did he expect to find there? That same strange thread that led into nothing?
Did he expect to meet something other than himself wandering the maze-like hallways of the human head.
He wasn’t entirely sure.
A pat of him wanted to turn back, but he kept moving forward, watching flickering lights. Someone was singing happy birthday in the background, and he watched a little flame flick over a cake before he passed by. The next few memories were fleeing, and based on their edges he could see that they were slowly beginning to decay, as if the darkness was reaching up to grab it.
And there he stopped.
At first he sensed nothing, just the flat blackness where memory terminated into a vast void, and he was relieved, but then, not moments later he saw it. A silver thread of light so delicate it might have been a hair cut in half, but it was there, and as he stared at it, he could see where it vanished into the blackness.
He stepped away.
This was…. Something strange, something…. Wrong
Did all the humans have these.
He turned and fled from the marine’s brain, and down the hall to where Dr. Katie slept. He didn’t even bother going slowly, but plunged into her mind rolling with facts and figures as she slept. In her memories he passed by medical school, and high school, and her childhood until he drew to a skidding stop just before the blackness, where he found the same razor thin thread.
What did this mean? Where did it go.
He might have followed but he was too afraid with what he might find to look. He backed out and found himself floating in a dead and silent hallway surrounded on all sides by the blazing inner life of sleeping humans.
He shrunk back not sure what he was fleeing from but backpedalled until a door opened at his back and he slipped inside.
He stared at the door waiting and listening.
“Conn, is everything alright.”
He turned on the spot freezing in palace as he saw the human staring at him from behind his desk, face awash with delicate yellow light from the lamp by his side. Dr. Adric sat, hands crossed in front of him, pen resting on the desk beside him.
Conn went to back away, but ended up bumping into the wall.
Dr Adric didn’t move
Conn could see that the man could sense his fear, as easy as sunlight on a cloudless day.
“Is this about what happened last week Conn, you've been asleep for a while now. Perhaps I should call Dr. krill.”
“No.”
Conn’s own mechanical voice was rather strange as heard through the doctor’s head. Conn couldn’t hear in the traditional sense, but had to read it through the minds of others. The translation gloves on his hands lit up with his response and then went dark again.
Dr Adric paused, tilted his head, frowned, “I’d ask you to sit down, but thats not really something you do, is it?.”
Looking into the man’s head Conn cut him off, “I’m not a human, your psychology won’t ork on me.”
Adric smiled, “I have trained in alien psychological crisis prevention as well, but I am sure talking to me for a few minutes won’t hurt.”
Conn stared, and doctor Adric stared back
Usually , Conn wouldn’t have said anything  preferring to keep his secrets, just that, secret.
But he was too confused and too frightened to continue like this, so he floated closer to the human, knowing that, somewhere deep inside, it was holding some sort of secret.
“Something is wrong with you.”
Dr Adric frowned, “Me personally or-”
“No, all of you humans, ever last one of you. I can see it. Hiding something inside your heads just past the barrier of memory. There is something in there.”
Dr Adric leaned back in his seat and frowned, “What makes you say that.”
“Because I looked.”
Dr Adric frowned, “I knew that you looked into people’s heads, but I didn’t know that you dug that deep.”
“Your moral outrage does not interest me Dr. Adric. I want to know what I saw. Past the barrier of memory, I saw a thread leading into blackness. I do not know where it went and I do not wish to go looking.’
Dr Adric frowned, and crossed his hands, “I assure you Conn that I do not know what you are talking about. Memory is a strange thing for humans, every time we recall a memory that memory is changed and corrupted by our current mood, or even other memories that we recall it with. None of our memories are perfect representations of what happened. They degrade and fall apart over time, and sometimes they change to be completely different from the actual events. Unlike you, I am unable to walk my way down a hallway of memory, I can only recall the memory into my conscious mind and then send it back to be recorded into memory. I cannot visit the areas of the brain like you can.”
He paused and chuckled suddenly, “Isn’t that funny though.”
“What’s funny.” Conn demanded.
“Perhaps you have finally found the palace where the soul connects to the brain.” He began to laugh, a bright smile spilling across his face. Upon seeing conn staring at him, he waved a hand, “Sorry, it was a joke for psychologists and philosophers. For thousands of years humans have been looking for the exact location in the body where the soul meets the brain, all nonsense of course. I personally don’t believe in the soul, unless you can equate it to consciousness, but in that case we are nothing more than a net of electrical signals running along a bowl of fat and grey matter.” he leaned forward in his seat, “I encourage you to stop digging into people’s minds if you would, and perhaps you might find yourself more relaxed.”
Conn disagreed greatly, but the human didn’t have to know that.
He sat floating at the center of the room, staring at the man as he glanced back at his work, dark brown gold eyes flicking over the holoprojection below him.
How strange, nothing SEEMED sinister about him, at least not from here.
But perhaps he was the only one who could see it.
Humans.
It was always the humans.
Perhaps it was just these humans, but for some reason he doubted it.
Something was gong on here, and he was too afraid to find out what.

Date Headcanons | Everyone
Thought I’d write something for everyone so that I can get used to it & you can see my style of writing.
- Nexus.
Joker { Akira Kurusu }
✧ Akira is definitely the type of partner who indulges in more casual dates. Although he has the money & resources in order to do something more classy due to his moonlighting as a Phantom Thief, he prefers more quaint locations where both himself & his partner can enjoy each other’s company instead of the location.
✧ He fundamentally believes that if he can enjoy himself around his significant other without needing to spend vast amounts of money, he’s found someone he can rely on for life. His life is naturally very very stressful so he finds solace in moments where he can simply be himself.
✧ During the date itself, he is the epitome of a gentleman { he does have max Charm, after all! }. Offering to pay for the meal; blatantly flirting but not crossing any unspoken boundaries; Casual touches of affection to fluster them. All in all, Akira simply enjoys having company that’s not related to Phantom Thief business & having someone who doesn’t only want to see him in order to seek out comfort.
Skull { Ryuji Sakamoto }
✧ Another one who likes casual dates. However, he is much less formal about it. Although confident on the outside, on the inside he is very nervous about a date. Ryuji is of the opinion that if he cannot be himself during a date, it would not feel natural. So, he takes his significant other places that seem like fun.
✧ Being the athletic type, Ryuji encourages his significant other to run with him. It is rather cathartic and good training. Starting out with shorter routes, they would be encouraged by him all throughout. Afterwards, there’s a high chance that the two of them would head out for ramen together as a ‘ treat ’.
✧ Other ideas would include the arcade or simply heading to his house. Introducing his partner to his mother is a key part of the relationship, since he desperately wants them to like each other { it wouldn’t be difficult, Ryuji’s mother is just as sweet as his son!! }.
Panther { Ann Takamaki }
✧ There are two types of dates with Ann: Food dates & Fashion dates.
✧ Food dates are usually more common. They consist of going to a restaurant she recommends or finding a dessert and ordering two. Ann encourages her significant other to try new things & expand their horizons much like how she’s trying to strengthen her heart.
✧ Fashion dates occur when Ann’s side job as a model comes into play. If she is in need of new clothes for a particular style or wants to try something new, it is likely to be turned into a date.
✧ Ann knows exactly what fits the body type of her partner & clothes that would make them look good. She wants them to be able to express themselves and feel good about it at the same time!!
✧ In return, all that is asked of them is that they honestly critique the clothing choices she has selected out for herself { she looks great in everything though }.
Fox { Yusuke Kitagawa }
✧ Yusuke’s interpretation of dates is... Strange. No matter what, it has to be visually stimulating & help inspire him in his career of art. He would die for art without a second thought and that reflects in his choices of location.
✧ For example, Inokashira Park is a perfect spot. It costs little money, has beautiful scenery & has a relaxing atmosphere. Throughout the entire experience, there is small gestures of casual affection. Not enough for people to be staring but just enough for it to be noticeable by them.
✧{ After his scuffle with searching for true beauty with Akira, he learns a little more about social ettique & how the boat ride they took could have been misinterpreted as a date. }
✧ However... Sometimes he forgets that going to places costs money. If a local art museum has a special showing, Yusuke will buy two tickets impulsively & invite his significant other to the event. Then he’ll be crushed by the reality of the train fares.
Queen { Makoto Niijima }
✧ At first, Makoto has no idea how to plan a date. She would definitely flunk a test about love, so to speak. However, it is very endearing. Study dates would be the most common, where they could go over any material either of them didn’t understand in classes. She prides herself over being able to assist her significant other.
✧ Once she becomes more adapted to stereotypical teenage life, there is a higher likelyhood of more outdoorsy dates. Her favourite spot is Chinatown because of all the vastly different stores and foods.
✧ She finds it a relaxing experience to people watch. Usually it’s done through the window of a cafe where she offhandedly comments about how different people are dressed & how they interact with each other. Makoto is very insightful.
Oracle { Futaba Sakura }
✧ Going anywhere is mostly out of the question. Futaba struggles with socialising & although she is trying her best to open up a little more, it will be an ongoing process.
✧ Playing video games until 3am or talking about the latest manga edition released from the comfort of her bedroom is one of her favourite things to do with a significant other. It is the one time where she feels comfortable to talk & even if they do not quite understand every thing she is saying, she is very happy to go into depth and explain.
✧ However, there would be one or two occasions where Futaba wants to push herself & go out somewhere. Beforehand, Sojiro would be lecturing her partner about keeping her safe & making sure she’s okay but wishes the two of them a good time.
✧ Although there’s moments where Futaba is overstimulated & needs a break, it is a fun experience! Akihabara is definitely a good place to start & buying a game as a reward for braving it will earn them a beaming smile of sunshine.
Noir { Haru Okumura }
✧ Haru has very few qualms about spending extravagant amounts of money on a single date. She thinks like a celebrity & aims to impress her significant other. Just because she spends a lot of money does not mean she is not thoughtful, though. Most dates will be something her significant other has mentioned interest in. She pays attention!!
✧ Throughout the entire outing, she is not afraid to initiate physical contact. Holding hands is a common & subtle gesture that she never really achieved with her previous marriage so she cherishes gentle intimacy.
✧ However, it eventually becomes known that she prefers cheaper & more heart-to-heart style dates. Making a picnic for her partner with the vegetables / fruits from her garden brings unparalleled joy. Especially when they give advice and talk about the taste & how they could improve. Her dream is to run a homegrown café after all!!
Crow { Goro Akechi }
✧ Akechi is either the most gentlemanly man anyone has ever been on a date with or he wants to unwind from a stressful day. Dates are few & far between with his particularly busy schedule, alongside the influence of his female fans bothering him particularly turns him off the idea most of the time.
✧ So, there are two solutions: Dates that are indoors so that no one knows where they are & incredibly extravagant dates that the media cannot gain access to.
✧ Indoor ones usually involve attending the Jazz Club in Kichijoji. It is a relaxing place with few people to bother his significant other, since there are few that know about the place. Throughout the entire occasion, he makes light conversation and is hesitant about accepting physical contact for fear of his reputation but eventually settles on taking his gloves off and interlocking hands with them.
✧ The other solution is usually reserved for special occasions. Although Akechi is wealthy due to his work as a detective, he is more deliberate with his purchases and understands the value of money. In these situations, he intentionally plays up his role as a detective prince & is even more suave than Akira. There is a lot of flirtation in a very polite manner, almost as if testing the waters.
✧ Although he genuinely enjoys these sessions, it is his job to play the role of a prince, even for his significant other. Akechi is practised at pretending.
Violet { Sumire Yoshizawa }
✧ Incredibly flustered at first, no matter what happens. Every step with her is filled with stuttering & a face the same colour as her hair but she’s willing to try her best!!
✧ Absolutely wants her significant other to come to her routines & competitions. If they are not there, she feels incomplete. It throws her game off which in turn creates more issues in the future.
✧{ At some point, her coach comes to speak to them and essentially demands they be at every session so Sumire can achieve her best. }
✧ Sumire also really likes different scenery. The aquarium in Shinagawa is a breathtaking sight from her perspective. No pressure to perform & the ability simply be herself allows for a much more natural date.
{ Yuuki Mishima }
✧ Mishima is much like Futaba in that he would prefer a date indoors. Although he is more confident after everything that happened with Kamoshida, he is still more shocked that he actually has a significant other.
✧ Most of his spare time when not doing schoolwork is spent on running the Phansite so when Mishima wants to spend time with them, he prefers low energy activities at home such as watching a movie with snacks or sitting & talking together.
✧ If he ever attempted to take them out somewhere, it would be adorable. There would be a lot of doting on them and ensuring that they’re having a good time & he needs this validation because of his self esteem issues. { Telling Mishima that the date was fun or that they enjoyed it will result in an adorable smile & red face }.
{ Hifumi Togo }
✧ Much like Yusuke, Hifumi enjoys dates with her significant other that are practical. If there’s a new book on some of the lastest Shogi techniques, she’ll take them to the bookstore in Jinbocho & make a date out of it.
✧ Although she sometimes struggles to articulate her feelings properly, it is often made up for with the purchase of a gift. Nothing expensive since she is still a high school student but instead something deeply personal that will mean a lot, such as a piece of jewellery or a particular book they are interested in.
✧ Also loves going to the church in Kanda for a practice game. Even if they are not very good at Shogi, she’ll teach them how to play and encourages them to develop their own style of play. After each game, she analyses all of the different moves used in that game & how they changed the game.

A WHILE LATER
TEARS OF YMIR
Sigurd trudged through the snow-veiled woods, wishing desperately that he could veer off this path the gods had constructed for him. His mind was trapped in a perpetual state of fear, and the thoughts racing through his head only seemed to grow louder with every step he took.
He could feel it in his heart that Ulfar spoke the truth. There was merit in the accusations he threw against Dag, and Sigurd had even seen the man’s treachery for himself. He made it quite clear that he wasn’t on their side with the way he manipulated the assault at Kjotve’s Fortress, and the prince could no longer ignore the reality that was standing right in front of him.
But even then, Sigurd’s gut twisted at the idea of causing any harm to Dag. His entire childhood was formed of memories between the two of them, and he still saw him as the same little boy he once loved all those years ago.
He remembered the days they’d spend running around in the wilderness, only to end up covered in mud by the time they returned home. He hadn’t forgotten the way Styrbjorn would scold them for their reckless behavior, and how they’d make the exact same mistakes immediately afterwards.
The joy they shared, the sorrows they experienced, the burdens they had to carry -- it all stayed with Sigurd to this very day. He loved Dag like a brother despite the conflicts between them, and the thought of banishing him from Midgard tore a hole inside his chest.
But he was a leader now. A future king. With Ulfar dead, Sigurd would have to step up and protect the people he left behind. His position as prince would no longer be a mere title, and he would have to do whatever it took to keep his clan safe.
Even if it meant making a sacrifice as great as this.
“We’re here.” Sigurd said bleakly, stopping in his tracks once the waterfall came into view. He took a deep breath and gazed at the dreary environment, unable to even recognize the nature surrounding him.
This place once served as a sanctuary for the prince. It used to be a safe haven where he could take refuge when the troubles of his world proved to be overwhelming, and he often found a sense of tranquility in its earthly embrace. It always seemed to breathe with the spirit of the gods, and part of Sigurd even believed they walked with him sometimes when he ventured down this path.
Today though, the forest was barren of any life. The tragedies of the war had burrowed themselves into its very marrow, and it almost felt as if it could sense what was about to happen. The air was leaden with a suffocating anchor of dread, and it only seemed to crush Sigurd more and more the further he progressed.
He didn’t want to kill Dag. Every fiber in his being was screaming at him to stop.
Part of even him was even considering simply exiling the man in order to avoid further bloodshed. Deep down though, he knew that wouldn’t be enough. He knew that Dag would most-likely run back into Kjotve’s arms once he broke free from the judgement of his clan, and cause their people a plethora of problems that they didn’t need.
It seemed like death was the only option here, and Sigurd hated himself for it.
“...Sigurd,” Dag said, approaching the man from behind. “Will you tell me what we’re doing now? Why have you brought us all the way out here? Is this about what happened between me and Ulfar?”
The prince kept his gaze on the view before him, leaving his hand close to his axe. His back was currently turned to the other man, and yet, he felt as if he could detect his every move.
“...Do you remember the day we met, Dag?” Sigurd asked. “All those years ago?”
The warrior noticed how his friend skirted the subject, but said nothing of it for now. “Of course. How could I forget? I was what, ten years old? Maybe younger? I had just given you a black eye during a training spar.”
Sigurd chuckled softly at the precious memory. “Indeed. And if I recall correctly, it wasn’t too long beforehand that I was boasting about how easily I’d be able to fell you. I was the king’s son, after all. Nothing could touch me.” The prince smirked. “...It seems that arrogance was my greatest enemy back then. The day I met you was the day I learned humility. It was the day I gained a brother.”
Dag leaned against a nearby tree, crossing his arms. “And do you still feel that way?”
The other man paused, his voice hardening with a cold edge. “...Yes. But I suspect that the sentiment is no longer mutual.”
Growing restless with anxiety, Sigurd finally decided to put this game to an end and shot an icy glare at his childhood friend, practically boring through his skull. He approached the older man and looked him in the eye, trying to keep his breath as steady as possible.
“...Dag,” he whispered, “you know how I feel about you. We may not share the same blood, but you are my family. No matter how distant we may grow, there will always be a link between us. And I will always see you as my brother. That’s why... I need you to tell me the truth.”
Sigurd took a few steps closer, barely shifting his gaze. “...Are you the traitor?”
Dag scoffed at the question and shook his head, reluctant to give a direct answer. “You can’t be serious. You actually believe in the nonsense Ulfar was spewing?”
“I believe his words held merit,” the prince persisted. “You can call it nonsense if you like, but that doesn’t change the fact that you stand as an accused man.”
The warrior stammered for a moment, taken aback by the preposterous notion. “What are you talking about, Sigurd? You were there! You saw what happened. I defeated Ulfar in honorable combat. I cleared my name. Isn’t that enough?”
“Enough for the Allfather perhaps, but not enough for me. Everything Ulfar said was true. The way you handled the assault nearly got all our people killed, and I know you well enough to know that you’re too smart to make such a grave mistake. You did it intentionally.”
Still, Dag remained in denial. “I don’t believe this. You would trust the word of a paranoid old man over someone you consider to be a brother?”
Sigurd raised his voice slightly, unable to hide his anger anymore. “I trust what I see! And over these past few weeks, I’ve seen you do nothing but traipse through the shadows like a thief in the night, hiding like coward whilst our men died on the battlefield. I saw you return from Kjotve’s Fortress without so much as a scratch on your armor, and I saw the apathy in your eyes when they fell on Thora’s corpse.”
The prince’s expression darkened with ire. “You claim you are innocent, but innocence always speaks for itself. I see no good reason why I should question Ulfar’s accusations, and I doubt you can give me one. So I’ll ask again--” he leaned in, “--are you the traitor?”
Dag rubbed the back of his neck and glanced at the waterfall, furrowing his brow in disbelief. It was evident that he had something to say, but the stone shackles of pride hindered his ability to come clean.
“How do you know Ulfar wasn’t trying to save his own skin by throwing me to the wolves? He was in a much more powerful position than I. He could’ve done anything he liked and gotten away with it!”
“What reason could Ulfar possibly have had to turn against Arngeir? You really think he would’ve been willing to endanger Thora’s life? Or Eivor’s? He saw them as his own children.”
“Who knows? All I’m saying is -- he was awfully quick to pass judgement on me. We had hardly set foot on Bjornheimr’s shores, and he was already prepared for a fight. The way I see it, Ulfar wanted to use me as a scapegoat. He was the jarl’s right-hand man, after all. He knew he could’ve said anything about me without raising suspicion. I mean, just look at how easy it was to fool you.”
Sigurd’s glare only sharpened at that. “You think I’ve been fooled, do you?”
“Am I wrong? I know you held Ulfar in high regard, but typically, the largest shadows are cast by those who stand the tallest. He may have been a good warrior, but that doesn’t mean--”
The prince shook his head in frustration. “--Enough, Dag! Enough with the lies. Enough with the deflection. Just give me a straight answer. I’m done running in circles with you.”
The other man fell silent, completely at a loss for words. “...You still don’t believe me, do you?”
Sigurd lowered his head in sorrow. “...I wish I could, Dag. Trust me. I wish I could. But if I’m going to keep this clan safe, I can’t allow anything to hinder my judgement. Not even when it concerns you.”
Dag let out a sigh and nodded in defeat, staring blankly at the ground. It was clear to him that his arguments were doing nothing in terms of swaying the prince’s mind, and he didn’t know what else he could say to divert the man’s skepticism.
“...I see.” He murmured, looking back up at Sigurd. His demeanor had completely shifted compared to when they first arrived at the waterfall, and a grim sense of treachery clung onto his shrewd face. “...Very well then, old friend. If that’s how you wish to do things.”
Dag pushed himself off the tree and straightened his posture, finally deciding to reveal the truth.
“...Indeed, your conviction is rightfully placed, Sigurd. I wasn’t sure how long I’d be able to keep up this facade, but I see no point in maintaining it any longer.”
The warrior paused for a brief moment, taking a deep breath.
“I was the one who warned Kjotve.” Dag confessed. “I was the one who assisted him when he ambushed Bjornheimr, and I was the one who told him to flee his fortress before our clans could arrive. I told him of this alliance.”
Sigurd’s heart instantly shattered upon hearing the confession, and his jaw clenched in rage as a spark of betrayal flared inside his chest. He knew his suspicions had to be correct, but even then, nothing could’ve prepared him for the immense disappointment he’d receive from a revelation such as this.
The prince wandered away from Dag in shock and began pacing along the waterfall’s edge, uncertain of how to respond.
“...And why exactly... did you do it?” Sigurd questioned, his tone alarmingly quiet. “What led you to commit such... foolish treason?”
“I did it for the good of our clan.” Dag answered monotonously. “I did it to protect us.”
The other man threw a puzzled glance at him, bewildered by his justification.
“To protect us?” Sigurd gestured to the distant village, storming towards the warrior. “Bjornheimr lies in a bed of its own ashes thanks to you! The jarl’s daughter has been murdered, and you have the nerve to act as if this was an act of heroism? I grow tired of your deception, Dag. Just tell me the truth. What is the real reason you did this?”
The traitor’s nose crinkled in envy, and a newfound sense of contempt twisted his expression. He was behaving in a manner that Sigurd had never seen before, and yet, the prince felt as if he had known this side of Dag for his entire life.
“We don’t need the Bear Clan,” Dag said. “All they’ve done is weaken us. They’ve even weakened you. Especially that boy.”
Sigurd cocked a brow. “Boy? What boy? You mean Eivor?”
“Yes. He’s turned you soft, Sigurd. Everyone can see it. Before we came to this forsaken village, you were a warrior. A leader. A man worthy of holding a crown. You led raids on our enemies, and you crushed anyone who dared threaten our people. You were a king in everything but name. But now? You’ve just become another pawn.”
“What are you talking about, Dag? How have I become a pawn?”
The traitor laughed. “Are you joking? I see the way you look at Eivor. That man has you wrapped around his finger. He’s distracting you from the war, and you’re allowing it to happen.”
The prince’s face was plastered with a look of dread. “You know about me and Eivor...? Who told you?”
Dag waved a dismissive hand. “No one needed to tell me. It’s as clear as day. You may be wed to Randvi, but we all know where your loyalties really lie. You’re only fighting this war for one reason, and that’s so you can take Eivor to bed while the rest of us do the hard work.”
Sigurd’s eyes snapped onto Dag with an iron grip, and his voice dropped to a dangerously low level.
“Watch... your tongue, snake.”
The other man chuckled. “The truth is painful, isn’t it? Nothing stings quite like the bite of a harsh reality you can’t accept. But please, by all means -- continue to ignore it. Ignore it like you ignore everything else, and let your kingdom crumble for your own selfish needs.”
Sigurd brushed off the traitor’s taunts and got straight to the point, eager to put this to rest. “So you’re a puppet for jealousy now? Is that it? You did all this... just because you envied Eivor’s position?”
A scoff escaped Dag’s lips. “Pfft. I want nothing that man has. Like I said before, I did this for the good of our people. Whether or not you choose to see it that way doesn’t change the fact that it’s true. The gods know this too.”
“The gods spit on oath-breakers like you! Odin has no need for men such as yourself in his company, and neither do I.”
“Then deliver your justice, my lord. Strike me down with the judgement that you deemed so righteous you had to hide it away from prying eyes. The people of Bjornheimr may not be able to see you here, but the Allfather does. And he will remember.”
Sigurd turned away from Dag and rested a firm hand on his axe, using every bit of his strength to stifle the tears that threatened to spill. He wanted nothing more than to scream at the gods for putting him in such an impossible situation, and he could already feel himself breaking down from what he was about to do.
But he had to keep his promise. He had to. Although no longer in this realm, Ulfar was depending on him to protect their clans, and Sigurd didn’t have the heart to deny the man his dying wish.
...But he loved Dag. In spite of all of his crimes, the prince still saw the traitor as the same boy he grew up with, and his memories of their time together only seemed to be resurfacing with every second he spent delaying the inevitable.
What was he going to do when the man was dead? Sigurd may have despised Dag for going behind his back, but a piece of his soul remained bound to him nonetheless. There was a link between them that couldn’t be broken, and the prince felt as if he was about to sever one of his own limbs.
A part of him would undoubtedly go with Dag once the man departed from this realm, and Sigurd couldn’t imagine himself ever getting it back.
He just prayed he would be able to forgive himself someday.
“You... you were my brother, Dag.” Sigurd said, his spirit collapsing with every word. “I loved you. I did. You turned my childhood into something that I’ll always hold dear. I’ll never forget the time we spent together, or the joy I’d feel when you were around. Those memories are something that no one will ever be able to take from me.” He tightened his grip on the axe. “But I can’t let you walk free from this. I can’t let you hurt my clan anymore. I... I have to keep my promise. I’m sorry.”
Yanking the weapon out of its sheathe, the prince lunged at Dag without saying another word and buried the axe in his chest, immediately causing the man to stiffen in his clutch. The two of them toppled over onto the snow after a single strike, and within seconds, the traitor was already gasping for air.
He writhed in Sigurd’s embrace like a worm on a hook and desperately tried to pry the blade away from his heart, but to no avail. The other man simply held him down and forcibly kept the axe in place, pushing it deeper and deeper into his torso as tears began streaming down his cheeks.
Sigurd couldn’t believe what he was doing. As a child, he always pictured himself leading their clan into a glorious victory that would forever grace the lips of bards across the kingdom, and spread into endless sagas for generations to come. He thought his role in the war would be one of grandeur just like in the tales his father often told him, and he believed his path to Valhalla would be laden with silver and gold.
But now that he was actually here... he was finally realizing just how torturous the nature of war really was. He wept at the sight of Dag’s life vanishing from his eyes, and his stomach churned at the feeling of the man’s blood staining his hands.
There was also the fact that the traitor died without an axe in his grip. He left it with Ulfar back in Bjornheimr, and thus, paved the way straight to Hel’s gates. His soul would forever evade the magnificence of the Corpse Hall, and a part of Sigurd crumbled at the thought of never being able to reunite with his friend again.
Dag was gone for good... and it was all his fault.
Letting go of the axe’s hilt, Sigurd allowed himself to relax and climbed off of Dag’s body, taking a seat beside him as a series of breaths fled from his lungs.
...He did it. He actually did it.
The traitor had been removed from their midst, and their clans would be able to proceed without worrying about betrayal. Kjotve would no longer have an ally inside their walls, and Gorm would give them the last step they needed before taking him down at last.
Sigurd supposed he should’ve been relieved now that things were finally in their favor, but all he felt was emptiness.
His closest friend lay defeated under the blade of his own axe, and his world remained shaken by the multiple losses it had just suffered. He experienced no pleasure in the face of this so-called victory, and the only thing he had left to hope for was the sight of Kjotve’s head.
He just wanted this war to end. He wanted the constant turmoil of these never-ending battles to become a thing of the past, and he wanted to cleanse the seas of the blood that stained their shores.
Sigurd dreamed of a future where people wouldn’t have to share his clan’s pain, but deep down, he feared it would never become a reality.
The war had already lasted for a couple decades, after all. He saw no reason why the gods would allow it to end anytime soon.
“Sigurd?” Someone said abruptly, dragging the prince back to his senses.
The man glanced upward from where he sat and gazed in the distance, only to find Eivor watching him from afar.
“Eivor...?” Sigurd whispered, quickly wiping his face dry. “What... what are you doing here?”
The blonde viking stepped out from the trees and approached his lover, careful not to distress him even further.
“I saw you leave with Dag earlier,” Eivor answered softly, still drained from the shock of Ulfar’s loss. “The two of you were gone for a while, so I wanted to make sure you were okay.”
He paused for a second, allowing his eyes to wander towards Dag. “...You really killed him.”
The older man stared helplessly at the sky, peering into the canopy of branches swaying above him.
“...Yes. I did.” He said, his voice trembling slightly. “I had to.”
Sighing morosely, Eivor pushed his way through the mounds of snow and walked over to Sigurd, crouching down in front of him. He comforted the distraught prince by gently caressing his cheek, and flicked away some stray tears with a simple swipe of the thumb. Afterwards, the young man reached over to the axe protruding from Dag’s chest and carefully removed it, wiping it clean before laying it in Sigurd’s lap.
“You did the right thing. I know it wasn’t easy, but our clan will sleep better at night thanks to you.”
Sigurd loosely met Eivor’s gaze, entirely devoid of life. “...I feel like a monster. Dag was... he was my brother. I know everyone else saw him as a traitor, but to me, he was always that little boy I met in Fornburg.” His expression sank with grief. “...That little boy is dead now because of me. I killed him.”
Eivor held the prince’s face in his hands. “No, Sigurd. You didn’t kill that boy. Dag did. A long time ago.”
The redheaded warrior offered nothing but silence in response, causing Eivor to return to his feet.
“Come, my love.” He beckoned, reaching an arm out. “We should return to the village.”
Sigurd remained motionless on the ground, simply looking over at Dag’s body.
“Wait. Could we... bring him back with us? I’m aware of Dag’s crimes, but even then, I’d like to give him a proper burial.”
“Of course,” Eivor assured. “Many in the clan will question his presence at the funeral, but I’ll send someone to retrieve him once we return. Don’t worry. We won’t leave him behind.”
Sigurd propped himself up on one knee and grabbed the other man’s arm, rising from the snow. “Thank you, Eivor.”
The Wolf-Kissed guided his lover away from the waterfall and called for his horse, leading the prince back home.
“Come on.” He whispered lovingly. “Let’s get you out of here.”

I love Final Fantasy XIV
So I’ve been playing Final Fantasy XIV, and after playing for around 180 hours, I haven’t even finished A Realm Reborn. Normally, 180 hours is an insane time frame for a game to manage and hold my attention. Persona 5 Royal was 180 hours of game time, and that was slowly outstaying its welcome. FFXIV must be doing something right, because just recently I went to a convention and bought a Y’shtola Keychain in a heartbeat. I haven’t had time to play XIV a lot prior to this, since I was stupidly grinding Praetorium for days and got burned out. I haven’t played much in 2 months, and Y’shtola only really has a minor role during A Realm Reborn’s Storyline. Despite that, I started in Limsa and Y’shtola stuck with me since then. I just had to buy that keychain. My girlfriend asked me about it and despite me staying away from the game after being burned out, I explained to her in great enthusiasm why I loved Y’shtola and why I loved the game so much. I think that’s the first time I really realized how attached I was to this world, these characters, this game.
I came to FFXIV after having played WoW from Vanilla through WotLK, after having barely ever touched a MMO since quitting WoW. Honestly, I was very skeptical of XIV but holy fucking shit did it ever win me over. They are completely different games, mind you, but that is a good thing in my opinion.
So here is the longest tumblr rant post I have written so far, I think.
To be fair, the first 20 levels or so were kinda slow. You get thrown into the deep end and get bombarded with lore and characters, terms and phrases that you don't understand. For fucks sake, the opening cutscene shows Louisoix fighting Bahamut front and center. Its this big, epic moment of sacrifice, but to someone who has not played 1.0 and who doesn't know anything about the lore, this just zips right past you. During the main story of ARR, they keep talking about Louisoix and how important he is, but you haven't even seen the guy because he died before the game even started. I only really realized this today, it took me 180 hours and a look at the wiki to connect the dots. It really is a slow burn, but that slow burn was okay because everything else was so fantastic.
While the world can arguably be more subdued than Azeroth in parts, there is still this distinctive style that I quickly fell in love with. It’s fantastical, but it still feels grounded. Part of that has to do with how the game introduces you to the world, and how the main story quests explain to you the lore bit by bit. I feel like much of the world design of WoW was down to “the rule of cool”. Now, I’m not saying XIV doesn’t have that, but I feel like XIV always goes the extra mile to explain why this cool shit is here. Everything you see out there in the world feels like it has a purpose, a reason to be there and an explanation on how it works. The factions make sense, the political conflicts you get entangled in are believable. I feel like I am kind of biased to be honest. What got me to play FFXIV in the first place was seeing that Viera are a playable race. I’m a sucker for Final Fantasy, not in short part to my memories of Playing Final Fantasy Tactics and XII. XII is still my favorite game in the series, and much of that has to do with the world, Ivalice. Viera were always my favorite race of the ones seen in Ivalice. Seeing as you can play a Viera in XIV, I just had to try. Thinking about it, XII and XIV have a lot in common when it comes to world building.
One of the weirdest things to acclimate for me was how FFXIV handles story. I was used to WoW, where story was basically non-existent and you did what you did to see numbers rise and to unlock now content you could do. You are basically never involved in the story of WoW, you are just kind of there for the ride. In FFXIV, you are the main character. You are involved in what happens at all times, and that is kinda strange coming from WoW. At first I thought I wouldn’t like it, but the game made it work in my opinion. I also didn’t expect there to be so much of story to begin with. Kind of ironically the moment I realized just how much there was to experience was when I went through Ul’dah and saw a blue quest. Now, blue quest markers mean there is some content you can unlock by doing this quest. A lot of these are kinda short, with a bit of dialogue and some bits of lore for you to enjoy and I thought this one would be no difference. After all, the hook is basically just to help this lady mourn for the death of a friend. What I got was a fabulous detective adventure that spanned over the entire continent, where in I had to help the worlds most manly detective uncover the secret behind a mysterious phantom thief. To say the least, this 21 quest long quest line brought be hours upon hours of joy and had me in stitches throughout. And it was completely optional. I don’t think I even remember a single moment from any quest in WoW that made me this excited for it, optional or otherwise.
Ultimately these are very different games that try very different things.
Dungeons and Raids were a different thing. I remember when I rolled a new character for WotLK and wanted to do karazhan because I used to like doing that raid with my guild back in TBC. I could not for the live of me find a group willing to do it, because everyone was way more focused on the new content, so they could get better gear. Regardless, it just wouldn’t have been the same experience anyways I fear, because the new gear from the new Dungeons outclassed the raid gear from TBC, so karazhan would be way easier and a much different experience. In FFXIV, every dungeon is level synced by default, meaning if a higher level character joins, they get basically downgraded to the level the dungeon was designed for. Couple that with the Duty Roulette feature and suddenly, there was always someone to do any given dungeon with. I remember when I had to do the crystal tower raids and thought “why would they tie main story progression to a raid, I will never find a group to do that properly” but low and behold, I found a group within 30 minutes or less and raided through the entire set of raids within a day. Dungeons and Raids are generally a very pick up and play thing in FFXIV. To be fair, dungeons got easier and more pick up and play in WoW too, but Raids were always the endgame thing where you had to gear up and learn to play. In FFXIV, much more lenient. No corpse walking required. I say this, but I have yet to do the Coils of Bahamut or any Savage Raids. I have only heard that there is plenty of hardcore raid content for those who want that.
That’s nothing to say about the actual gameplay. FFXIV is a tab-target MMO, like so many others, but it manages to keep this kind of gameplay fresh by introducing a lot of mechanics that make the game more active than the typical “I stand here and hit my rotation a lot”. For starters, most enemies have special abilities that you can actually dodge by moving out of the way. There will a area marker on the floor and everyone within that area will be hit. It starts out easy, but later dungeons really start kicking your ass with this mechanic. You really need to say on your toes. In addition, every class is extremely different. They all have special mechanics unique to them, special meters and resources they will have to manage during combat and so on. For example, a Red Mage (the class I’m playing currently), has two meters that fill up as you cast spells. They generally have two types of spells, white and black magic. Each type fills its respective bar. Once they are both full enough, you can go in and do a more powerful melee rotation. However, if one bar is fuller than the other, the other bar will fill up slower. Since you need to fill both, you want to balance that out. You get instant casts for spells after performing a damaging spell, and you have some spells with a short cast time and good damage output that you want to cast and then use the instant cast of to cast a more damaging spell that has a long cast time. But these short cast, good damage spells require a you get from casting a spell of the respective type. So, in essence, you want to balance your use of black and white magic, but you also want to use the proc you get from casting your white and black magic, which means you cast more of the type which inherently unbalances your gauges. It becomes this micromanagement game you play with your procs and instant casts, so you can go in and do the big, flashy sword combo. And that’s just the red mage at around 50. Every class has something like this, and it’s all unique to them. Learning a class is not just learning the rotation and spells you have anymore, it’s really learning how to effectively play your class. Also, positioning. Some abilities do more damage from certain positions, so you will have to dance around an enemy to hit all the sweet spots with classes like monks. These complexities get introduced slowly as you level up, so you have plenty of time to learn the mechanics. My favorite feature might be the class system itself, though. In FFXIV, you aren’t limited to one class for the entire duration of your characters career. You can, from a certain point forwards, choose any class you wish and level that up instead. You can freely switch between classes outside of combat, too. If you are dedicated enough, you can level them all up to max, even. This means if you don’t like a class or the direction a class is going in, you can switch. I for my part started as an arcanist, so I unlocked Summoner at 30. I played Summoner up to 50 but I was just not meshing as well with the direction the summorer went in. So, I switched to Red Mage and after some getting used to, Its now my new favorite. Arcanists are special, because you actually unlock two classes at 30, so I also unlocked Scholars. Scholars are healers and that became my main dungeon class, since queue times are way shorter for healers. This would be unthinkable in WoW, and love the fact this is a thing here.
If I had to describe it, WoW is an MMO with RPG Elements, while FFXIV is a JRPG with MMO elements. I didn’t know I needed that, but in retrospect, it makes sense. The thing that really killed my progress in WoW was that I didn’t have anyone to play with anymore. My friends all dropped from the game and while I generally like doing solo content from time to time, I’m pretty introverted, after all... MMORPGs are usually most fun with friends. Final Fantasy XIV is a JRPG first, an MMO second. There is so much to keep your attention as a solo player, its nuts. All my friends who play this game, play on a different data center, so I can’t even visit them. Despite that, I had a lot of fun in my time with the game.
My experience with the game was incredibly positive, and I don’t think it will get worse from here. Everyone keeps telling me how great Heavensward is. I just have to finish 16 more quests and I’ll be able to see for myself what the fuss is about.
Honestly, if I had to say anything negative, it would be how longwinded ARR is. I mean, its not bad by any means, but I can see how someone could be turned off by this huge storyblock. Worst of all is, after you hit 50 and reach the end of ARR’s story line, there are 80 quests before you can even start with Heavensward. Since everyone keeps going on about how great it is, it’s kind of annoying how long you have to work to even get to it. In retrospect, it kinda makes sense though. These quests are meant to be played over months and months throughout a update cycle and bridge the narrative gap between one storyblock and the next, but holy fucking shit why did it have to be THAT long. They even cut like 20 of the quests from this already insanely long quest line. What the fuck. This is supposed to be an epilogue to ARR and it feels like I played a whole fucking JRPG in between ARR and Heavensward. Oh well. Thankfully, they learned from this and made the post-story blocks shorter.
I will just say that I can recommend this game. You should give it a try. Just... try not to drop the game before it gets really, really good.

"You're really pretty! Ne, What's your name??" The boy asked curiously.
"You can't talk huh? Hmmm... OH! How about I teach you how? I'll still be staying here for about 3 days after all!!" He excitedly said while holding the hands of a azure eyed boy in front of him, who seems to be also excited to learn new things from him.
Ever since that day, a messy haired boy will always sneak out at night with a book in hand and visit the cow licked haired boy behind the large rocks by the seashore. It was never easy to teach him how to speak but despite it being difficult, he wanted to hear his new friend's voice before he leaves.
Unfortunately, this newly found bond between them has to end after 3 days passed by. The boy wanted to stay for a little more but his parents were already packing up, leaving him no choice but to follow. One last time, he went to the same spot to say his final goodbye.
"W-will I see you.. again?" The azure eyed boy asked, speaking for the first time in a broken sentence which made the other boy smile and tear up in joy.
Pulling the boy into a hug, he answered back cheerfully.
"Of course!! I'll come back for you once I'm old enough. Then I'll show you around the world, Shin-chan!"
***
Kaito smiled after remembering such a nostalgic memory while looking at the sun setting by the horizon right before him. 18 years went by and he didn't get a chance to visit his old friend. When his father passed away, he was too preoccupied with his time as a student and a Phantom Thief but now? With the jewel in hand he finally returned back to the same place where he always meets the boy.
"I wonder if you're still here.."
Kaito left him here with various of books ranging from Dictionary, documentaries and also some detective books he got as a present. He was worried that it might turned out to be useless in the end since he only managed to teach him for 3 days. Not to mentioned, only for about 3 hours since his parents might found out about his disappearance.
"W-will I see you.. again?"
When he heard his voice for the first time, he felt something tingling on his chest which he didn't know why due to how young he was but now that he's older, Kaito knows that he have fallen for the boy who possessed the sea in his eyes. With a few failed attempts, he got him to write his name on the sand which he found out was-
"Shinichi..."
Sitting down on the sand with the jewel still in hand, he wanted to destroy it the day he found it however he couldn't. He tried everything from throwing it on the ground, burning it and even biting didn't do anything. What to do with this jewel... Before he could think of another way to destroy it, he caught something moving out of the corner of his eyes.
Glancing to his right, he was shocked yet overjoyed to see a very familiar figure hiding behind a rock, peeking and observing his every move.
Blue scales on the corner of his eyes that highlights his azure slit iris eyes, pointed ears, pearl like skin and a long beautiful blue tail with such a long thin fins on its side like a cloth that highlights his whole being. Yes, the boy he met that summer night was no other than a merman he happened to stumble upon while playing by the seashore.
At a very young age, he already developed a fear towards fish however when he saw him for the first time that night, all he could think about was how beautiful and breathtaking Shinichi was.
Smiling widely, he stood up then slowly approaching him, being cautious as to not scare him off. Finally, after a few more steps Kaito is now face to face with the boy he met 18 years ago.
"Do you still remember me? I'm Kaito!" Kaito said excitedly while still looking at the merman in front of him, who seems to be still observing him.
It took about a few minutes before the said man speaks up which excites the magician even more.
"Kai..to? Oh, that noisy brat who keeps bothering me when I was young." Shinichi said bluntly which caused Kaito to nearly fell into the water. Who knew the precious sweet boy he met 15 years ago had turned out to be this stoic? He couldn't even read his expression but... for a moment there, when he glanced to his direction earlier, he could've sworn he saw a longing gaze behind those beautiful ocean blue eyes of his.
Getting lost in his thoughts, He didn't noticed that the jewel he was holding was suddenly in the hands of the merman, fascinated with the jewel.
"Oi Oi be careful with that, it's important to me."
"Interesting, it has another red stone inside. Did you made this?" Shinichi asked curiously, looking at a stunned Kaito in front of him. How.. did he know there was another jewel inside? One can only distinguished it's existence upon directly shining it to the bright light of a full moon so how..
"Does it have something to do with being a merman??"
Should he asked Akako about this? No no, Shinichi's existence should remain a secret however..
Sighing in defeat, Kaito only patted the merman's head smiling at him which Shinichi didn't mind and nuzzled his head closer to the warmth contact of the human's hand. He didn't want to admit it nor say anything about it but.. he missed Kaito. Every single day for the passed 15 years, he would always wait for him by the rocks in the evening, hoping that one day he will see the boy that caught his attention. The only thing that kept him entertained was the things Kaito left, which he really enjoyed especially the one with the detective in it called 'Sherlock Holmes'.
Those books really helped him a lot from speaking the human language to understanding the outside world, which he would love to explore and be a part of... with Kaito.
"Do you have the other series of this book?" Shinichi asked excitedly, grabbing the tattered book that has been re-read for so many times which made Kaito smiled widely. So it did helped him in the end huh? Then he should've bought the whole set instead if the merman was gonna love the book this much.
Time went by and after a few agreement with Shinichi, Kaito will be returning back with a surprise and the promised book the merman wanted to read.
***
"... Uhh, what is that?"
Early in the morning, while reading by the seashore waiting for Kaito to arrived, Shinichi was startled when he sees the magician from a distance pushing some sort of object with wheels under it covered with a black cloth over the top. At first, he thought it was the books he has been asking which both surprised and excite him to the possible large number of new books he will be reading. However, Kaito handed him a separate bag with a few books in it, making him even more curious with the large object presented in front of him.
Kaito only grinned as a reply and removed half the cloth covering what seems to be a huge tank filled with water inside.
"Tada~! This is my surprised. Are you excited~?"
Shinichi tilted his head to the side wondering why Kaito is excited with an empty tank but then, it clicked. The merman's eyes widen and tried his best not to break into a smile but still couldn't as he covered his mouth. Is this for real? Will he really be going out there in the human world with Kaito?
But what if he didn't like what he sees? What if he made the wrong choice and what his friends said about the humans were right? Despite the number of doubts he has in his mind, there is only one thing that he's certain which immediately eliminates the questions he has.
"I trust Kaito."
"We're gonna leave right away so no passerby will see you. Though, it'll be a bumpy ride."
Kaito starts rolling up his sleeves however just before he could asked Shinichi for permission to carry him in his arms, a realization hit him hard like a curve ball. Does Shinichi even want to come along? Wasn't he being too full of himself for not even asking the merman and just assuming that he wanted to be with him?
A frowned made it's way to the magician's face causing Shinichi to frowned as well. Did he do something to upset the human before him? Just before he could open his mouth to asked, he suddenly heard a sound of barking coming from a pier a few distance away from them. Both of them panic as they saw a dog pulling it's owner to their direction that they didn't know what to do.
Acting quickly, Shinichi tags on Kaito's pants and whisper shout,
"What are you waiting for? Carry me in the tank before they see us!"
Kaito didn't have any choice and quickly does what he was asked to and gently carried the merman in his arms with the half covered tank covering them up from the perspective of the passerby. After placing Shinichi inside, he quickly covered half of the exposed tank as the owner of the dog only stared at him in confusion before continuing on their way after the dog sniffed around the covered tank and left.
Kaito let out a sighed of relief and looked at the top of the tank, seeing Shinichi peeking his head out of the little cutout he made off the sheet while holding onto the edge part of the glass container he's in.
Shinichi copied Kaito once he sees the disappearing silhouette of the human from a distance then narrowed his eyes at the magician in front of him, causing Kaito to jolt up a little.
"Geez, if only you carried me right away earlier, we wouldn't panic like this."
"Eh? Uhh, yeah.. sorry about that."
Kaito looked relieved when he heard those words coming out of Shinichi's mouth which pleases the merman as well. There was no need to be hesitate about huh?
After Kaito started explaining everything to Shinichi with how he will be brought back to the magician's place, they finally left the ocean with Shinichi on the back of a van Kaito rented with the seats already folded, giving space for the tank where the merman is in.
***
"... You sure you're human?"
"Hmm? Of course I am! Why did you think I wasn't?" Kaito asked, confused with the merman's question.
Shinichi only narrowed his eyes then looks around the house (or mansion due to how large it is) he's currently in. A huge cylinder tank is what he sees in the middle of the wide Living Room where it passes all the way to the ceiling where it ends up in the second floor in Kaito's bedroom. A large indoor pool at the other side of the house and a small high tank at the kitchen where he can be in whenever they eat at the kitchen. Shinichi looked back at the magician after pointing them all out while still in the large tank they use to transport him from the ocean to land.
Despite him being a merman himself, he couldn't possibly think of any logical way to install all of this in one day- no, overnight where it was only decided last night. Kaito only snickered then smile after patting Shinichi's head. Even if he's a magician, he doesn't have that ability to install all of it overnight.
"It's been here since the moment I bought this house. I asked a close friend of mine to design the house and had the tanks install so that if I ever had to brought you home with me, everything's ready."
When he graduated College and made a name for himself as the great magician of Japan, with the money that he made he invested half of it in this house where he will be living with Shinichi. Even if there was a chance that he will no longer see the merman when he comes back to find him in that beach, he was still determined and didn't lose hope. Well, it wasn't all in vain after all since right now, he's looking directly at Shinichi whom he fell in love with the moment he saw him for the first time.
Shinichi blushes and looked away, embarrassed that Kaito was that sure they will meet one day and went ahead and install all of these.. for him. Slowly, Shinichi smiled at Kaito and wrapped his arms around the indigo eyes neck, whispering something under his breath before kissing the magician who was stunned but nevertheless, kissed the merman back.
"This will be our home then? Kaito."
" Yeah, our one and only Home, Shinichi."
***
[Omake]
"For a merman like you, you sure drink coffee way more than you breathe water."
"You introduced me to the devil's juice so not my fault."
"That's alcohol not coffee, Shinichi."
Kaito only snickered as he watched his merman lover leaning forward from the tank he's in and using the waterproof laptop resting on the table in front of them.
Years went by and they're still living together peacefully. Well, rather than peaceful they actually found a way for Shinichi to still explore the outside world without being found out about his identity. After Kaito found out that Shinichi was really passionate about solving crimes and helping the humans like the detective book he has been obsessing with (until now), an acquaintance of his was involved in some sort of murder where he was being accused of.
Kaito was well aware and has the intelligence to solve this on his own but he wanted Shinichi to give it a try by giving him a detailed information of the crime, the suspect's information and many more and the result? It was better than he expected, far more better than any detective he has ever known. That's why Kaito decided to registered Shinichi as a ghost detective. Someone who can solve a case without the presence of the detective and was only given enough information for Shinichi to worked with.
An uncontrollable smile made its way to Kaito's face the longer he watched Shinichi. Who knew years went by and he's still with him? It still felt like it was only yesterday when he brought his lover over from the ocean by using a tank, where they were almost caught by a dog. Is this what it feels like to spend the rest of your life with the man that you love? Where time seems to go fast the longer you stay with your Lover? Well, actually-
He looked down to Pandora dangling around his neck, made into a pendant where he wears it everyday. For some magical reason, 50 years went by and he still looks the same as when he was 25 years old where he saw Shinichi again. When he found out that merman actually have a long lifespan of hundreds of years, he already accepted the fact that he will be separated from Shinichi from natural death. When Shinichi also found out the human lifespan is only approximately a hundred years old, he was devastated but then, he told Kaito that the jewel he possessed has the power to make him live longer.
Kaito didn't questioned how Shinichi found out but still kept it in mind and eventually made it into a pendant he could wear at all times. Of course, with his close friends and acquaintance growing old while he stays young, he needed to make a plan for both him and Shinichi. The excused that 'Kaito' already retired and living at some faraway land where he's just a lookalike cousin of 'Kaito' and the detective name 'Kudo Shinichi' has been inherited from one person to another has been working so for now, there's nothing they have any problem with. Only making the most of it and loving one another every single day of their life.
