Summary: Castiel’s simple life as a small-town librarian gets interrupted when he discovers his workplace is being haunted by a book-throwing ghost. Before he has fully processed the existence of supernatural, he meets an attractive stranger claiming to be a hunter of such things. Together Castiel, his coworker Charlie, and Dean begin to research the ghost and the tragedy behind the haunting. All the while, the mutual attraction between Castiel and Dean keeps growing, and Dean begins to settle in the local community.
In the end only two questions remain: why hasn’t the ghost moved on yet and does Dean intend to leave as soon as they have solved the case.

This was my first time doing art for dcbb and it was great experience! I don’t know what else to say other than to congratulate Tossukka on writing this story and being a gem to collaborate with.
It was a joy doing this with them!

TURN ON.TUNE IN. SELL OUT-WAKE UP
“Does this answer your question?” Dean says, turning to face Castiel.
Dean cups Cas’s chin in his hand. Impossible green eyes peer into the depths of Castiel’s soul.
“Cas, I wanna kiss you. If that’s a problem, you need to say something—now.”
Castiel is transfixed, unable to utter a sound, let alone a word. He licks his lips nervously. Silently, he prays Dean gets the hint as that’s as close to consent as he is going to get from Castiel right now.
Dean leans forward, his thumb brushes over Castiel’s cheekbone. The kiss starts gentle and sweet as if Dean doesn’t want to spook Castiel, or overstep some hidden marker. He won’t. He can’t, because this is Dean. But Cas appreciates the gesture and sees the wisdom in it. They aren’t who they used to be. Would they even work together as a couple now? What about Jack? What would Castiel and Dean being in a relationship mean for Jack after so much time of it only being the two of them?
Castiel slides an arm around Dean’s waist, drawing him in closer.
Dean leans into him with a soft gasp and parts his lips.
Dean’s brain is stuck on a loop of holy fuck as Castiel’s mouth moves against his. It’s hot, wet, and impossibly right.
Dean moves his hand behind Castiel’s head, his fingers making small circles in the long tendrils of hair at the nape of Castiel’s neck .
When they finally pull apart, Dean hums a tune. The song immediately rushes back to Castiel’s memory. An outlier from the mixtape. One of only two that weren’t Led Zeppelin that Dean snuck in for a reason Castiel wonders if Dean would even remember now.
In his rough out of key voice, Castiel sings the words to that part of the song back to Dean. “Against the sun we raise our broken fists and give thanks to the dead for we may never get another chance to say goodbye.”
We do now, Cas,” Dean says, his voice soft and tentative. “Well maybe not goodbye just yet. But if you’re willing, I want to get to know you...now you and see where this thing leads.”
Castiel grins at him. Together, in time, they’ll work out what things m ean and how they and Gabriel and Sam and Jack all fit together. For now, he’s content to sit out here on the porch and just be with Dean.
“I’d like that, Dean. Yes, I’m willing.”
