That's a Bingo

ZINE | PERSONAL PROJECT

Established in August 2016, That’s A Bingo is a self-written, self-illustrated, self-printed, and self-distributed fanzine focusing on Quentin Tarantino’s filmography. I am a huge fan of Tarantino’s movies and sought to create a multi-series zine for others like me who wished to know more about the lore and aesthetics of his films. All current issues were printed by Risograph and handbound. This fanzine was also mentioned on the New Beverly Cinema (a theatre in LA owned by Quentin Tarantino) website in two articles (X & X), which of course was a great honor for me!

Here are my Top9 posts from 2023.

2023 was a weird year where Instagram desperately wanted to become Tiktok, Tiktok still did Tiktok best and now also is the better platform for artists to post image albums on. Twitter died and Tumblr continued its resurgence. If not for Tumblr doing so well I'd feel pretty bad about the year social media-wise. Art-wise though I'm very happy since I managed to significantly upgrade many of my old favorite designs (to use for merch and finally my own site) but also was able to push forward on new illustrations and test out many new series ideas. My goal for 2024 is to keep the momentum going, since there are a few other longterm plans I want to do. Thanks for following!

Besides the overlays and logo design, I also designed templates to be used with various social media purposes.

Twitch has integrated panel options that are displayed on a channel's page - I started out making them entirely images, laid out and designed as pictured, but ended up only using the "sign" titles for accessibility and legibility reasons.

The calendar is sized to a template I made that accounts for various ideal social media post site images, including BlueSky, Facebook, Instagram, and Ko-Fi. As there are multiple people who will be streaming on the page at various intervals, I made an "Appearing This Week" space on the calendar to ensure avatars and names have place to be listed without crowding what's planned on the listed days.
