I would love to hear your opinion and if you'd like to see something like this. Basically just one large masterpost! Message me and tell me your thoughts!!!! I'm open to ideas!

do you take requests? any quotes about the harshness of being truthful to oneself, about sharp realizations about oneself’s or another’s interiority?
"Nothing is so difficult as not deceiving oneself."
— Ludwig Wittgenstein, Culture and Value, tr. Peter Winch
"The intensity of the inner resistance against full self-knowledge is unfathomable."
— Brian Masters, from ‘The Shrine of Jeffrey Dahmer’
“In self-deception I am maneuvering to escape a truth about myself. I am a self divided against itself. This is the meaning of Kierkegaard's term “double-mindedness”. The opposite of self-deception, of willing obscurity about oneself, is to be transparent to oneself. It is to will one thing. To be transparent to oneself requires insight and courage. Not to will transparency is to be a fool and a coward.”
— John Mullen, from 'Kierkegaard's Philosophy: Self Deception and Cowardice in the Present Age'
"I look down into myself and shudder."
— Nikos Kazantzakis, from ‘Report to Greco’, tr. P. A. Bien
"And though he knows the mirror he so desperately needs to look into exists, the thought of looking into it fills him with mortal dread."
— Hermann Hesse, from ‘Steppenwolf’, tr. David Horrocks
"For it is towards oneself that one has the strongest resistances."
— Carl Gustav Jung, The Collected Works of C. G. Jung Volume 4: Freud & Psychoanalysis; from ‘The Analysis of Dreams’, tr. R. F. C. Hull
"People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own souls."
— Carl Gustav Jung, The Collected Works of C. G. Jung Volume 12: Psychology & Alchemy; from ‘Individual Dream Symbolism in Relation to Alchemy’, tr. R. F. C. Hull
"—growing in and out of situations, gaining control of inner confusions or losing control, overcoming inner resistances or succumbing to them, exploring more of inner darkness and appropriating it as ‘personality’ or actually losing some personality to encroaching darkness."
— Ted Hughes, from 'Letters of Ted Hughes’ —Anne-Lorraine Bujon, 16th December 1992
"This was the dark cave of what she didn’t know about herself."
— Janet Fitch, from ‘Chimes of a Lost Cathedral’
"…as if the act of self-regarding was not as subtle, fraught and ever-changing as any bond between twin souls."
— Eleanor Catton, from ‘The Luminaries’
"There were days when you peered into yourself, into the secret places of your heart, and what you saw there made you faint with horror."
— Jean-Paul Sartre, from ‘No Exit’, tr. Stuart Gilbert
"No satisfaction based upon self-deception is solid, and, however unpleasant the truth may be, it is better to face it once and for all, to get used to it, and to proceed to build your life in accordance with it."
— Bertrand Russell, from 'The Conquest of Happiness'
"You say you live in pain. Let it be the pain of the death of the old false self, and the life-movement of the new real truthful self. We are all wrapped in silky layers of illusion which we instinctively feel to be necessary to our existence. Often these illusions are harmless, in the sense that we can still go on being reasonably good and reasonably happy. Sometimes, because of a catastrophe, a bereavement or some total loss of self-esteem, our falsehoods become pernicious, and we are forced to choose between some painful recognition of truth and an ever more frenzied and aggressive manufacturing of lies […] If you keep checking any lie and resisting the anger which deforms the world you will gradually realise that the poor old wounded self, with its furious whining and its hatred of itself and everything else, is not you at all. That self is dying, but another self is watching it die.”
— Iris Murdoch, from 'The Good Apprentice'

Much of India came to a standstill on Jan. 22, when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi consecrated a temple in the northern city of Ayodhya commemorating Rama, a warrior-king worshipped by Hindus as a god. Schools, colleges, and offices closed and central government offices gave a half-day off to all employees. Some expectant parents even cajoled obstetricians to schedule cesarean sections on the day so that their children are born at the auspicious moment coinciding with the temple’s opening.
Such a public display of religiosity by the Indian government and its leadership may seem peculiar, particularly to those who cherish secularism. But India moved away from the state’s traditional interpretation of secularism a decade ago, when Modi led the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to power. With the next national elections only a few months away, Modi has choreographed the Ram temple consecration to consolidate his Hindu vote (about 80 percent of the country’s population is Hindu). The political intent is clear: Cutouts of Modi grace lampposts on the airport road in Ayodhya, with similar images of Rama added almost as an afterthought. In an audio message on social media this month, Modi said, “God has made me an instrument to represent all the people of India.”
The ongoing construction of Ram Mandir is very controversial in India. From the early 16th century until 1992, a mosque known as Babri Masjid stood on the site—built during the time of the emperor Babur, the first Mughal to rule India. Many Hindus say that Babur destroyed a temple honoring Rama that previously stood on the land, which they believe is Rama’s birthplace. In the 1980s, Hindu activists began a movement to reclaim the site and build a temple there. In December 1992, they razed the mosque, an act that shocked the nation.
But in the past two decades, India has changed, and Hindus clamored for the land to be restored to them. In 2019, the Indian Supreme Court ruled that although the initial act of demolition was illegal, it would offer the site to a Hindu trust to build a temple and grant land elsewhere to a Muslim trust to rebuild a mosque. Although the construction of the Ram Mandir is not yet complete, Modi needs the imagery for his election campaign, and so the consecration will go ahead. Some opposition parties, including the Indian National Congress and the Communist Party of India, did not send their top leadership to the ceremony; however, some Congress leaders were divided over the boycott and at least two attended.
Rama, for many Hindus, is maryada purushottam—the ideal human being who sacrifices himself for others. His is the kind of life to which lesser mortals should aspire; his heroism is based not simply on battlecraft, but upon his ability to put others’ interests before his own. In the Sanskrit epic Ramayana, Rama is the prince of Ayodhya who is about to become king when one of his father’s wives demands that Rama go into exile, and the succession passes to her son instead. Rama leaves with his wife, Sita, and brother Lakshmana. The king of Lanka, Ravana, abducts Sita, and Rama mobilizes an army of monkeys to invade the island fortress, defeating Ravana and rescuing Sita. After 14 years, Rama finally rules Ayodhya, leading to a golden age.
The BJP sees the construction of the Ram Mandir temple as evidence of its single-minded determination, no matter how long it takes. Formed in 1980 by some members of the former Janata Party, the BJP initially struggled electorally. It briefly held power in the 1990s and led a coalition government between 1999 and 2004. In 2014, Modi projected himself as committed to development and boosted the BJP’s vote share to win a majority of seats in parliament with 31 percent of the national vote; five years later, the party increased its tally to 303 seats out of 542, winning 37 percent of the vote. The temple project follows other promises kept by Modi’s government: revoking the special autonomous status of Indian-administered Kashmir and introducing a citizenship act that created a pathway to Indian citizenship for asylum-seekers from neighboring countries but excluded Muslims. Modi has shown that he is the man who gets things done.
The BJP capitalized on three major changes that occurred in India in the 1980s to build its identity and increase its vote share. First, many Indians bristled at how India practiced secularism, perceiving the government as granting special favors to religious communities, such as subsidies for Muslims to perform the Hajj and curriculum exemptions for faith-based schools. Second, Indians were tired of living in an economy beset by sluggish growth and shoddy products due to socialist policies that restricted foreign investment and trade. (That changed in 1991, when the Congress government deregulated the economy.)
Finally, India was a leader in the Non-Aligned Movement, but the appeal of nonalignment was fading with the decline of Soviet influence and the eventual disintegration of the Soviet Union. The Congress party ruled India for most of its first 49 years post-independence, and it was instrumental in developing India’s secularism, socialism, and nonalignment. The BJP took advantage of public disenchantment and stepped into the void, promising “equality for all, appeasement to none,” to promote a market-based economy, and to reset its foreign policy, often aligning with Western interests. (Still, the BJP pursues strategic autonomy in many respects, such as its continuing trade ties with Russia despite Western sanctions.)
Most politicians have the next election on their mind; Modi and the BJP leadership have the next generation in mind. After all, more than 40 percent of Indians have no living memory of the Babri Masjid mosque. Even in the early years, the party began influencing India’s younger generations in the states where it came to power first, changing textbooks and rewriting history to downplay the roles of Mahatma Gandhi and Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru (and his family members who later came to power) and project alternative heroes who were more militant and outwardly Hindu. By promoting Rama as the warrior-king who ruled over an ideal state, the BJP aims to create a constituency of voters who see their identity primarily in religious terms and equate the Hindu faith with the nation of India.
To the BJP’s core voters—the hardwired Hindu nationalists—the party has promised to restore Hindu glories, embodied by the Ram Mandir temple. The events in Ayodhya have set a precedent: Some party activists want to transform more mosques (and, in some instances, churches), claiming they were also built where Hindu temples once stood. The triumphalism around the temple construction is so vicious that not only is it the opposition leaders boycotting the event who are facing criticism, but also four seers of the Hindu faith who have raised a range of objections—including the choice of Modi to perform the ceremony, which they say should be presided over by a priest.
The Hindu nationalist movement’s elevation of Rama over other Hindu deities is also strange. Hinduism is polytheistic, and its literature does not rest on one book. Many interpretations are liberal, and some contradict each other: Skepticism and atheism are also part of certain strands of Hinduism. In the late 1980s, I interviewed Morarji Desai, who had served as India’s prime minister representing the Janata Party. I asked him what he thought of the movement to build the Ram temple on the site of Babri Masjid, and he suggested that the BJP’s ultimate goal was to undermine Hinduism’s pluralism and turn it into a faith with one book (the Ramayana), one place of worship (Ayodhya), and one god (Rama). The slogan now reverberating through Ayodhya and much of India is Jai Shri Ram, or “Victory to Lord Rama.”
Rama is an exceptionally interesting and nuanced literary figure and well-loved outside of India, especially in Southeast Asia. But many Indians do not take kindly to works that present Rama in a different light, such as the late poet A.K. Ramanujan’s celebrated essay, “Three Hundred Ramayanas,” which shows how the epic’s characters appear in different forms and offer different interpretations in India and beyond. Nina Paley’s charming 2008 animated film that draws on the Ramayana, Sita Sings the Blues, was also controversial. The latest victim of this outrage is a Tamil film released on Netflix last month, Annapoorani, about the daughter of a Hindu priest who wants to be a chef; her Muslim friend encourages her to pursue her dream, correctly citing a verse from the Ramayana that shows that Rama ate meat. Some Hindus who practice vegetarianism for religious reasons were offended; Netflix withdrew the film, and the actor who played the protagonist issued a public apology on a “Jai Shri Ram” letterhead.
India is no longer a land of nuances. A significant part of its population wants an assertive government and a black-and-white narrative where subjugated Hindus are reclaiming their identity, and the foreigners who colonized the country in the past—the British and, before them, Muslims—are cast as villains. Such an approach risks turning a multidimensional country into a cardboard caricature of itself. The Ram temple consecration marked another milestone on that path—which Modi walks in the hope of getting elected once again.

Hi hi! Wanted to ask, how do we know buck and Eddie are the same age? I missed that !
Hi hi! I did a whole deep dive when i was making my pre-canon buddie timeline gifset, along with the help of @tawaifeddiediaz @alkaysani @eddiediaaz @oliverstaark, so here are the pieces of evidence pointing to Buck and Eddie being the same age (and most likely both being born in 1991)
Eddie
Shannon was born on October 16th, 1992 (6x15)
Eddie said he met Shannon in the 8th grade, and also said to Bobby that he was 14 when he met Shannon (6x17)
So this means Eddie was either born in 1992 to be in the same grade as Shannon, and would've met her after he turned 14 later in the school year (like January-June ish since they would've started off 8th grade at 13 years old)
OR he could be born later in 1991 (July-December ish) meaning he would've been 14 already when he started the 8th grade, and would've probably met Shannon near the beginning of the school year (this would make sense if his school/school district did split classes—like 91/92 kids are all in 8th grade—or if he just started school a year later than others or had to repeat a year for whatever reason)
Buck
Buck's age is typically assumed to be based off of Oliver Stark, who was born in 1991
Buck is 26 in January-March ish of 2018 (1x09)
Daniel got sick shortly after July 4th, 1988, and Maddie says to Buck, "Three years of doctors and hospitals, every treatment they could find, but... nothing worked." (4x05) (this would put us at around late 1991 for when they had hope of a cure—Buck being born)
"29 years. Why is it now suddenly such an emergency?" is what Buck says referring to how long Maddie kept the secret about Daniel (4x05)
4x01 puts us at September 2020 in the overall timeline and I'm just assuming that 4a takes place in 2020 and 4b takes place in 2021 according to how it would normally align with the September-May airing dates
So for Buck, him being 29 in what I'm assuming is 2020 is the strongest evidence for him being born in 1991 (if he was born in 1992 then he could only turn 28 that year). This also means that in season 1, he hadn't turned 27 yet.
Both
Chimney says, "You're not his elder, Buck." which is referring to the gym scene (2x01)
This combined with all the other info we now have puts Buck and Eddie at the same age at least, or Eddie as just slightly older than Buck (by months). They're both born somewhere in the '91/'92 window so really it's just up to interpretation.
For my gifset, I just wanted to make the timeline easier to show so I put them both as '91 babies, and had them both turn 27 sometime between July and September of 2018, right before 2x01.
I hope this all makes sense and clears things up! If I missed anything please do let me know!

Peak Time Contestant List
Alright so because I couldn't find one with a brief search I've made it myself! Here's a list of all the contestants on JTBC's Peak Time in order of their ages (oldest to youngest) and also including their debut dates for the fun of it.
Long post warning, there are 86 people who made it through the first round. I tried to take photos of the members from the PEAK TIME account where possible, but for the big groups they don't have individual shots for everyone...so I went with twitter selcas instead!

Chapter List WC: 1,655
16th December, 1992, Wednesday
No one could find Violet the following morning.
When Hannah, Aimee, and Caroline got up for breakfast, they'd found Violet's bed already made up. Her bag and all of her things were exactly as she'd left them the night before. Caroline brushed it off, while Aimee and Hannah were more concerned.
They'd hoped Violet had just left early for breakfast, but when they got the the Great Hall, she wasn't there either. They grew more suspicious as the meal went on, wondering where the girl could be. Even Cedric had no idea where she was.
By the end of the meal, Aimee had become so concerned that she rushed to the back of the hall, only stopping when she was in front of Professor McGonagall.
"Professor!" Aimee exclaimed, "Violet's missing!"
"What?" The Professor leaned forward, "What do you mean missing?"
"We haven't seen her all morning!" Aimee was quickly becoming a nervous wreck, thinking about what could've happened to her friend, "What if something happened? What if she got petrified?!"
"If I may," Madam Pomfrey moved to stand beside McGonagall, who had sprung up from her chair in panic, "Ms. Ellis came to me late last night not feeling well. She's resting in the hospital wing- Ah, ah!"
Aimee had begun to back away, wanting to run to check on her friend, but Madam Pomfrey stopped her, "Please leave her to rest, Ms. McCall, I fear she needs it. She'll be fine in a day or two."
"Oh," Professor McGonagall sighed and collapsed back into her chair, her complexion oddly pale.
"Okay..." Aimee nodded, "Thank you, Madam Pomfrey."
Aimee rushed back to her friends to inform them of what she'd found out. Madam Pomfrey fussed over McGonagall, asking if she was alright or needed anything. McGonagall only waved her off, stating she was just concerned for her student. Madam Pomfrey knew it was more than that; she'd begun having the same thoughts and concerns about Violet as McGonagall.
Pomfrey had spent five year with the boy they knew, patching him up and helping him through some of his darkest moments. She'd seen the way Violet reflected so many of his physical attributes, from her brunette hair to her ivory skin. Even the way they carried themselves was so similar, with their shoulders hunched and head down, but always with a soft smile.
It wouldn't be long before Pomfrey and McGonagall would speak about the girl and their suspicions and what they would mean if they were true...

Draco didn't know where Violet was. He looked for her all throughout breakfast, he looked for her in the halls between classes, he looked for her at lunch. He didn't know where she was, or why she'd suddenly disappeared. He knew it was likely because of what had happened the previous night, which made him feel worse about himself.
He'd been beating himself up over his behaviour, for how poorly he'd treated her. He felt nothing but regret, guilt, and anger at himself. He wanted to apologize, to make it up to her, but he couldn't do that if he couldn't find her. Not that he knew what to say or do if he did. This was entirely new to him; meaningful apologies and wanting to make someone else feel better? He'd never done that before.
By the time he arrived to Defense Against the Darks Arts that afternoon, he was ready to crawl out of his own skin. His friends had started questioning him, wondering what he was constantly looking for and why he was so on edge. He only dismissed their questions, not wanting them to know about Violet. He was becoming more and more protective of her, and he knew if he'd told his friends about her, she would no longer be just his. Besides, if the Slytherins found out Draco was rapidly becoming obsessed with a Hufflepuff? He'd lose all respect and become the biggest joke of the house.
For the entire three hours of D.A.D.A, Draco contemplated how he could get one of Violet's friends alone to ask what they knew about her disappearance. He hadn't heard a single person talk about another petrification, so while he was terrified something had happened to her, he didn't think it was that. He just wanted to know if she was okay.
When the bell rang to dismiss class, Draco was across the room and gripping Aimee's arm, pulling her away from her other friends before she even stood from her chair.
"Hey- Hey! Let go of me!" She shouted, though it was lost in the noise of the departing students.
Once at the back of the room, Draco dropped her arm and looked around. Her friends were watching them from the front of the room, but hadn't made any move to defend her.
"Malfoy!" Aimee snapped, pulling his attention back to her, "What was that?!"
He stuttered, suddenly realizing what he'd just done was incredibly stupid, "Uh..."
Aimee squinted her eyes at him, scrutinizing every move he made and word he said.
"I just-" He sighed, exasperated at his own anxiety, "Do you know where she is?"
"Where who is?" Aimee's frustration suddenly morphed into confusion, "Do you mean Violet?"
Draco only nodded, avoiding eye contact.
"She's in the hospital wing-" Draco's entire body tensed up, fear shocking his system. Aimee could see the change, so she reached out and grabbed his arm before he could run, "She's fine! Just wasn't feeling well."
Draco tore his arm out of her grip, staring at the spot on his arm as if it had burned. Slowly he looked at Aimee, his voice a near growl, "Don't ever touch me again."
"Oh, for Godric's sake!" She shouted in his face, causing him to flinch back, "You're the one that dragged me back here! What do you even care anyway? She's nothing to you!"
"You're wrong." He snapped, but refused to elaborate further.
He stormed off before Aimee could say another word. She stood there, staring after the boy as if he'd lost his sanity. Perhaps he had, because after he left the classroom, he sprinted across the castle to find the one professor he knew could help him. Whether or not she would, he wasn't convinced, but he had to try anyway.

The entire castle was quiet. It was well after nine, so most students were in their common rooms or dorms, settled in for the night. Draco couldn't rest, though, too full of nervous energy. After dinner, he'd been able to collect the things he needed, but was told to wait until later in the evening to do what he'd planned to do.
So, when the nine o'clock bell chimed, Draco made his way out of the Slytherin basement and across the castle, not slowing down until he reached the hospital wing.
Madam Pomfrey knew to expect him, so she didn't bother scolding him when he arrived so late in the evening. There wasn't a single other person in the room, aside from Violet. She was laying on a cot at the end of the wing, facing one of the many windows. He feared she may be asleep, as Madam Pomfrey had warned him that she'd been asleep most of the day.
He stopped at the end of her cot, staring down at her. She was staring out the window, watching the stars and moon move slowly across the sky. Even in the dim light, he could tell she wasn't feeling well. Her chest moved so slowly, he feared she was hardly breathing. And her skin was several shades paler than normal, with a slight sheen to it.
He briefly considered leaving, sneaking away before she could notice him, but when her head slowly turned towards him, he was frozen in his spot. Her eyes were so dark and sunken, but even given her poor state, one side of her lips quirked up.
"Hey," Her voice was rough, barely a whisper.
Draco moved to sit on the chair beside her bed, moving to sit as close as he could. He kept his voice low to match hers, "Violet? What's wrong?"
She settled back into the cot, her eyes closed, "Migraine. I get 'em sometimes. Worse when 'm stressed."
"I'm sorry..." His guilt tripled. He'd been part of her stress.
"Don't be." She could barely keep her eyes open, wanting to go back to sleep. The throbbing in her temple had spread down to her jaw, and the draught Madam Pomfrey had given her was wearing off.
"I just wanted to see you. I... Didn't see you today."
She hummed, her eyes taking in his appearance. He was as put together as always, aside from his hair being messy and tie loosened.
She was losing the fight to stay conscious, but she couldn't help her curiosity, "Worried?"
Draco's instinct was to lie, or make a joke, but he was tired of hiding from her. He promised himself he'd try, so he told her honestly, "Yes. Scared you were petrified, or something."
"Didn't think you cared." Draco knew it was time for him to leave by the way her words were being to sound jumbled together.
"I care. A lot, evidently." He stood up from his seat, suddenly remembering the glass vase in his hands that he'd been clutching, "Oh, I brought you these."
Violet's eyes opened then, focusing on the vase, "Violets? Where'd you find those?"
Draco's cheeks tinted pink; he was glad it was too dark for her to notice, "Professor Sprout. She's got all sorts of flowers. I wasn't sure what you liked, so I hazard a guess..."
Her eyes had closed again, but she smiled softly, "I love 'em."
He sat the vase on the side table, his finger brushing the soft violet petals as he turned away. He leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to Violet's temple, murmuring, "Feel better soon." Before he rushed away.
She'd already fall back asleep, but when she woke the next morning, her migraine thankfully gone, the sight of the light purple flowers left her with a permanent smile for the day.
