okay i know i said it's the friendship between m+s that makes me love their romantic relationship. but it's also just because of ga & dd lmao like. if it was acted differently and they didn't look at each *like that* i probably would not ship them like this either. there's really something about the gazing & body language & closeness & touches. it's always so loaded and that's all them

“The field where I died” was a good episode, but one thing bugged me . Which was that it eluded to Mulder and Melissa (not Scully’s sister) being eternal soulmates and that Scully always was there to but as other people.
Now maybe it’s the romantic in me but I just think Scully and Mulder are the real soulmates and that if there was really such thing as past lives, they would be together forever.
Did anybody else have this issue? Just curious.

You know, all I'm hearing is David and Gillian wanted to write episodes for the x files so they could get to flirt, go on dates, and have sex because Chris Carter wasn't giving them enough action

Yes of course my whole life passed before my mind's eye during certain Ken scenes in the Barbie movie but the "let me show you" scene in particular..... there's only one place my mind went:

[Disclaimer for the age of the internet binary: this is a cute and stupid male fantasy and only because we're catching David in the act doesn't mean I or you cannot appreciate it.]

watching moonlighting makes me sure that whatever the hell else went on back then, dd and ga never really hated each other. there are times when 'maddie and david' have a bantery or flirty scene and yet cs and bw look ready to straight up murder each other they're that fed up. there is simply none of that stiff misery and other assorted body language of 'you're annoying get away from me' on txf, even when mulder and scully the characters are arguing furiously

Is 'Will They or Won't They' about David and Gillian?
I finally got around to reading Will They or Won't They by Ava Wilder, which is a novel about two Hollywood actors (Lilah and Shane) that star in a hit TV show in which their characters are a fan-favorite ship, but the actors famously hate each other. The author is annoyingly coy about who the book is about (if anyone) and in The X-Files fandom, fans have speculated that it's about David and Gillian. So what did I think? (mild spoilers below)
Yes, the book is definitely about Gillovny!
The show Lilah and Shane star in (Intangible) is filmed in Vancouver and is extremely popular. It's also a paranormal show: "Walt's main innovation had been to bring in every mythological creature under the sun, as well as open the show up to the world of larger supernatural conspiracies (government or otherwise)." (pg 34)
Lilah, like Gillian, has short, chin-length red hair.
Shane is described as "beautiful" with "long legs, long lashes, dark hair that fell over his forehead without reaching his eyes. Not just beautiful, but attractive, too." (pg 4)
Lilah and Shane meet before their audition, in a room with all the other candidates. They chat while waiting and then are both hired due to their intense chemistry with each other, which is pretty much how The X-Files audition went.
Both actors are unknowns when they are hired and the show propels them to mega-stardom: "He was the only person who understood what she was going through, because he was going through it, too: the surreal, thrilling, terrifying, one-in-a-million experience of going from nobody to capital-S Somebody practically overnight." (pg 80) This sounds a lot like how David and Gillian describe their relationship.
They famously do not get along on set, meanwhile their on-screen chemistry is ever-present and their characters' slow-burn romance is what hooks the fans: "No matter how the two of them felt about each other when the cameras were off, it was the chemistry between their characters, Kate and Harrison, that made the show worth watching." (pg 16)
The showrunner suggests that Lilah and Shane go to couples counseling, which Chris Carter recommended to David and Gillian.
Lilah and Shane participate in a photoshoot that sounds just like the Rolling Stone shoot, in which they are in bed in minimal clothing, while the photographer takes pictures from above.
Lilah and Shane's characters are known for gazing at each other: "...staring longingly at each other when they thought the other one wasn't looking." (pg 19)
No, it's probably about some other couple or no couple at all.
There's no height difference between the two. In fact, it's specifically stated that Lilah and Shane are almost the same height (and Lilah is taller if she wears heels).
Shane was not interested in being an actor, but was scouted and encouraged to audition for the role of Harrison. He had zero acting experience before the show.
The book opens with Lilah returning to Intangible after leaving the show for four seasons. Which I guess is similar to The X-Files but is a much larger gap than David's absence.
Most of the similarities between this book and The X-Files occur in the first half. Once past that point, the characters are pretty fleshed out and don't seem like they are necessarily based on anyone in particular.
Parting thoughts:
There are so many similarities between Lilah/Shane and David/Gillian and their experience on The X-Files that it almost feels like it has to be about them. I've seen speculation that it's about Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev on The Vampire Diaries, which is also a possibility.
Whether or not it was about David and Gillian, I enjoyed the book and would recommend it if you're into romance novels.
If you read this book, what do you think? What famous Hollywood couple was Ava Wilder basing her story on?

@calimanc okay the william part. i know this won't be popular but i also love it lol (surprise, surprise)
i completely understand why people hate that scully gave william up, but i just don't see any other choice. if mulder didn't leave (because dd sucked lol) it may have worked for them to keep him. but children on a show like this really change things.
it's so freaking bittersweet seeing scully & mulder with william. it's something they both wanted more than they ever let on, than they ever dared to voice.
mulder is william's father, i really don't think there's any doubt about it. they were sleeping together, they were in a romantic relationship, they love each other beyond what anyone can understand. they're two people filled with miracles and this time, they got one they wanted most. it's fucking beautiful. it may undermine her struggle with infertility, like so many other shows do, but this show is built on the impossible & the fantastic, the paranormal & miracles & magic & science. imo, it's perfectly in line with everything else. mulder & scully are the light in dark places, and they desperately needed some light themselves at this time. it's so painful once they're back together and they don't have william, but the logistics would have been so much harder with a baby on the run.
and the truth is, i think it was the only way it could really go. i don't think there was another option. scully would never give up her baby, except when she thinks it's the only way to keep him safe & ensure he lives a full life, a normal life, the possibility of a happy life. it's something she never recovers from. it's the only thing, besides losing mulder, that would break her. it takes scully two decades to face it, and not until she's forced to when they find william. scully is so avoidant of her trauma and she can only face it when she has mulder to put her back up against. mulder lived in his trauma for most of his life. by the revival, i think he's finally started to move "past" it. but william is a deep wound for them both. they lost their chance to be parents, to be a family. to experience their version of normal with a child they always wanted. i can't even comprehend the pain & grief & loss & trauma of this. but somehow, i think this made mulder more stable. he had to live with consequences of it, and grief & some guilt, but not the same way scully had to. if there's one thing these two are good at, it's putting the other first when they need it. mulder sets aside his own because scully can't be rational, can't be strong the way she's always been. this is her weakest spot, her mother mentioning william is what made her absolutely lose it when maggie died. it's sooooo painful, literally beyond comprehension (for me) but i've always been a sucker for pain & grief & angst. it's one of the most human experiences and ddga are just. so good at portraying it.
(csm is a LIAR — it's possible he had a hand in it, given en ami. but he did not impregnate scully. i know people go on about the medicine & science, but like. it's sci-fi. the science doesn't need to be real or accurate. like how many medical dramas are out there with inaccurate medicine lolllll anyway, i do think it's a possibility he gave her some kind of medication to reverse the effects of what they did to her before OR the chip finally healed her. the chip caused her to go into remission, and it's a possibility the technology of the chip is what that guy was trying to give scully. the cure to all disease. anyway. that's just my two cents on that.)

In the meantime, my room has changed a little. Of course, mainly X-file! ^^
Tumblr media
I couldn't buy the cover, entertainment weekly magazine that DDGA is embracing anywhere. So I made it. That simple magazine I made? I'll introduce it to you next time.
The large picture book behind the magazine I made is "Children on Earth are Strange" written by Chris Carter, which was also published in Korea, and the content and picture are so cute that it is hard to say that the person who blew away 11 seasons wrote it.
The two framed pictures are my sister's work. My small room is full of what I love, so I'm happy. ^^
Tumblr media
Disney channel is too unkind to translate X-file subtitles into Korean. So I bought a DVD disc because I didn't want to see it again. Season 6 is hard to buy, but after season 7, Fox Korea withdrew, so I didn't buy it from season 8. I'm happy with this because season 1-7 was the happiest X-file moment.
Tumblr media
I'm working on an X-file episode guide fanbook by myself these days. It's a self-gift for me who's loved Mulder and Scully for 30 years.
Next time, I'll introduce the scrap files and the magazine I made, as mentioned above.^^
