Okay but literally every damn time I see them three on the screen together I just kinda spontaneously combust because WW x B x GL trio is so iconic
John and Bruce being stern and grumpy is just a perfect bromance and you cannot tell me that out of all of the Leaguers Batman does not like being around GL the most. They are those kind of friends that just organically spend the most together and just get each other on any kind level. Then there is Diana and we just know that John is number one wonderbat shipper and I think it's beautiful

8 Characters who should appear in Young Justice Season 5
Tumblr media
Hoping and praying for another season of Young Justice is something I'm very used to.
After its initial cancelation way back in 2013, Young Justice was revived for a third season on DC Universe, DC's attempt at a streaming service, and lived past that to get a fourth season on HBO Max.
It is now under hiatus with no current plans at a fifth season.
I however will continue to remain hopeful for another season. Young Justice (with the exception of the Harley Quinn animated universe) is my favorite version of the DC Universe. With an exceptional voice cast, a focus on younger more relatable heroes, and a realistic political element to a superhero world, Young Justice cements itself not only as one of the best DC animated shows, but one of the best pieces of superhero media.
So while I have nothing but time until Warner Bros sees the gem that they have and give us a fifth season, I thought I'd pitch the characters I'd most like to see in the next season.
Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti, if you're reading this, know if you don't put these in, I trust the season will be great anyway.
But you know, consider it!
*Spoiler Warning for Every Season of Young Justice*
The Bad Boys of the Bat Family
Tumblr media
Let's start with the obvious!
Jason Todd AKA The Red Hood has been teased ever since Season 2, and while has made a few appearances, we have yet to see the menace he can be to both Bruce and The Bat Family.
I particularly want his story to tie in with Tim, who has only been seen to be the loyal soldier to Bruce. This can be an opportunity to reflect upon the life, and how Bruce's trauma trickles down.
Another Bat pairing I'm itching to see is Damian Wayne and Nightwing. The blood son and the favorite son can lead to some fun comedic beats and a lot of tension for the team.
Whatever team they decide to position Damian on, it could lead to disaster. Damians presence can also lead to less trust amongst superheroes, as he is a known killer, and Robin is a pretty public title in the Young Justice universe.
The Forgotten Sidekick
Tumblr media
Sometimes even sidekicks need sidekicks!
For those not in the know, Gear was an original character for the DCAU show Static Shock, Virgil's best friend Richie.
Using technology, including a robotic backpack and flying boots, he was simultaneously Virgil's guy in the chair and right hand man in the field.
Static has been on the show for multiple seasons, but really hasn't had much to do since season 2. Giving him a protege of his own while paying homage to what came before.
Speaking of what came before...
The Final Titans
Tumblr media
Who doesn't want a Titans reunion?
In Season 3, Cyborg was introduced into the fold and Beast Boy was given a much more expanded role. Ever since, I've been waiting for the Daughter of Trigon and the Tamaranean Princess to arrive.
An episode where the 5 Titans meet for an impromptu mission would be a lot of fun, perhaps battling one of their classic villains like Brother Blood or Deathstoke!
In the long run, both characters fit very well into the already established universe.
Raven would make an interesting member of Zatanna's Sentinels of Magic, and Starfire would be right at home with Forager and Miss Martian as aliens on Earth.
Would it be fan wish fulfillment? Absolutely, but Young Justice has done it before. In Season 4, Razer of Green Lantern Animated Series was given one of the best episodes, continuing his arc to find Aya.
I'm not sure how you could get all these characters and one of the Robins together for a mission, but I'll leaving the writing up to the experts.
The Incompetent Time Traveler
Tumblr media
We've had the Legion, we've had Bart, but we have yet to have a time traveler who has no idea what he's doing.
Enter: Booster Gold.
Booster Gold is a fan favorite character across comics and animated media. He is a failed football athlete in the 25th Century, who steals tech in the future to pretend to be a hero in our time.
The character is soon to enter James Gunn's DCU, and recently made his Arrowverse debut in Legends of Tomorrow, played by Donald Faison, right before the show got cancelled (I bring this up mainly because he deserved a shot at voicing him and it could be a fun nod).
Boosters interference with the timeline could lead him to the worlds only time traveling expert, Bart Allen, effectively making him the Outsiders responsibility.
The character also leaves the door open to potentially a big bad, and maybe even thee big bad of the season....
The Professor
Tumblr media
Much like General Zod and the Kryptonians became an overarching threat for Season 4, making it a Superboy/Superman focused season, I think it's high time the Speedsters of the team have a new threat.
Professor Zoom or the Reverse Flash is Barry Allen's greatest enemy. Another future man of the 25th Century, Eobard Thawne was a brilliant scientist, so opposed with The Flash, he decided to become his greatest enemy to become part of the story.
Reverse Flash has quite a few similarities with Bart actually. Future speedster hoping to be a part of the story and change the timeline for "the better". It would be an interesting rivalry between them.
While I would like him as the big bad of the season, I understand we JUST did a time traveling menace
My potential pitch would be Reverse Flash needs access to our time now for a power source, something to bring his power to the next level. Something or someone with Speed Force to spare, making him a battery for Eobard. So I believe Reverse Flash has returned to the past to get...
The Prodigal Son
Tumblr media
Did I write this piece just to pitch a Wally West return season?
Yes. Yes I did.
Young Justice has left just enough wiggle room for Wally to return. We never hear about his soul, we never found a body, and Wally has been trapped in the Speed Force in the comics before.
Most notably, The Speed Force has not been mentioned yet. Currently, I don't believe any speedsters actually know it exists.
Eobard showing them the speed force and releasing Wally to drain his power, only to be foiled by the team, would not only bring back Wally, it could make him the Fastest Man Alive.
Wally becoming the Flash could be his arc of the season, which I argue would’ve been his destiny if Bart didn’t save Barry’s life.
Giving us a Wally with a power boost, lost time and lost love could lead to a lot of drama and potential for storytelling.
And of course, an Artemis/Wally reunion is well in order.
Tumblr media
Again, if none of these characters make an appearance in the next season, I’d still just be happy there’s a season at all.
But time will tell if I’m right.

WIP Poll
Tagged by @starlightcleric (like 2 months ago -- SORRY)
Rules: Make a 24-hour poll with the names of your wips, let it run, then write one sentence for every vote the winner received.
I'll keep it to ones that I WILL eventually finish. No deadwood here. The first one is obvious Batsy/Wondy in the DCAU (Batman the Animated Series/Justice League/Bruce Timm continuity). The rest are SWTOR.

Maybe you've talked about this before but I'm curious what it is about Wonder Woman the Justice League show got wrong to some people.
No I haven't talked about DCAU Wonder Woman in-depth, mainly because she lacks depth. Her problem is fairly straightforward: she's entirely defined by being Batman's wannabe girlfriend.
Tumblr media
Seriously go ahead and try to think of a great DCAU Wonder Woman moment or episode that isn't tied to Batman in any way. Her flirting with him is the number one attribute about her that people care about, when Susan Eisenberg was asked what she would like to do with the character in a hypothetical Justice League reunion, her answer was "I'd like to explore more of her romance with Batman". When I read that I was baffled. Explore a relationship doomed to failure because Bruce has to end up a bitter loner for Batman Beyond? That's what you want to do? After reflecting on it however, I can understand why she would feel that way. What else is there to explore? Treatment of Diana's mythos in the DCAU is a complete joke, her two major villains used on the show - Cheetah and Circe - were not afforded any respect. Cheetah kissing Batman and Circe making Batman sing "I'm a little tea cup" are the only uses of her Rogues Gallery in the DCAU that people remember. Steve Trevor was an old man in the present day that she only met via time travel. Like Superman she was clearly not the favorite of anyone involved in the show.
Outside of shipping her with Batman, Timm and Dini's go-to move when they didn't know what to do with a female character, she didn't get treated well. Much like how the DCAU paved the way for the modern Lex Luthor, combining the CEO and mad scientist, the DCAU is what cemented Wonder Woman as "the warrior". Like Superman she's mainly characterized as a hothead, and she's also meant to be a rookie learning about Man's World, unlike her peers who are all experienced heroes by the time the League forms. One of her few focus episodes is about an evil Amazon Aresia trying to kill off the world's men, with Diana making a few misandrist comments about how she's not sure why she should stop Aresia, with the lesson Diana learns being Not All Men Are Bad™. This was even the first time that I remember the concept of Diana having a divine father was introduced with Hades. You can draw a line from her depiction here to how she was characterized in the New 52 and under Zack Snyder in the DCEU.
Tumblr media
So people latch on to the Batman relationship because it's at least something. Their interactions are cute and Batman is part of the "troubled heroes" category like Avatar: The Last Airbender's Zuko which shippers go crazy for. Leaves this incarnation feeling shallow and diminished compared to comics Wonder Woman at her best, but I understand why she has fans. Eisenberg is also a great voice actress and I remain fond of her performance regardless of my issues with Wonder Woman's characterization.
If there was ever to be a Wonder Woman cartoon I'd prefer it be a clean reboot set in it's own continuity. Again like Superman I think Wonder Woman is better served being off in her own bubble with no other heroes, it's just too tempting for all the Batman fanboys running things at DC to use her to prop their boy up. She deserves better than that.

For the ask game, 1, 24, and 44?
How has DC/Marvel/publishing company wronged you, specifically?
The Nu52, cancelling Steph's Batgirl book, making Cass evil, letting Tynion reintroduce both of them into continuity again and butchering them in the process, giving Tom King control of the JLI, literally everything that the Nu52 did with Diana and Lois Lane, rebooting continuity before I could be my JLI reunion book that Generation Lost promised...
24. Ship(s) that makes you cringe.

[ Maxie Zeus believes that he and Wonder Woman are related, though exactly how they’re related varies from moment to moment. Most of the time he thinks of her as his niece, but he’s been known to call her his cousin, his sister and even his daughter. Batman is looking into getting Maxie’s medicine adjusted. ]

Got any thoughts about RagDoll? I heard you, Croc, Firefly and Penguin were all a little team for a bit.
Ah, yes, Team Penguin! Oh, the memories you just brought back!
I didn’t really interact with him much during it, as Penguin told me not to fight on the front lines with him, Gary and Waylon, but rather behind the scenes making Coffee for him. I don’t really know why he did this, but I suppose it was either to consult with my genius intellect when planning new strategies or have me as the final line of defence if all the other members fail.
I never really heard of Ragdoll before entering that abandoned building, and I didn’t really have that much contact with him afterwards either. I was immedeately quite perplexed, and, no offence to the man, a little disturbed, to see somebody bend himself to the level where he can comfortable sit inside a hat. I suppose he was nicer to me than Waylon and Gary were (I really don’t know what went into Gary that day, I think he was mad at me about something).
If I could make him a suggestion, I think he would work together well with the Riddler. I can see him leading Batman into some specially crafted puzzle/parkour area so complicated that only he could escape from it.
But hey, since all of us have our own askblogs now.:.Team Penguin reunion, anyone?

Okay but there is something so fascinating about Justice Lords
I know, there is a bit of that 'Evil is interesting' cliche, but I think it's way more complicated. The way those two episodes showed us a of group of individuals who believed in a cause yet lost their moral compass and decided to give into the temptation of believing in their own moral omnipotence? Masterclass in storytelling.
This whole storyline is wonderfully mature - in a way that makes you wonder about the most important moral questions and issues, like responsibility, freedom, justice, free will and much, much more. Group of superheros turning into authoritarian leaders, still believing that they are doing the right thing. Grief and anger acting as a catalyst for a long-supressed urge - to which extent can you blame your emptions taking over? Did they have the right to do what they had done? Can they be partially explained by their (initally) noble motives? Is there a chance for forgivness and redemption?
There is also that tasty foreshadowing of future Green Lantern x Hawkgirl relationship, once again conforming that they belong to each other in every time and universe. Absolutely love that.

“Well, selfishly, I’d love to explore the relationship between Bruce and Diana a bit more, and I know there are some wonderbat fans out there who feel the same way,” says Wonder Woman actress Susan Eisenberg. “But mostly, I would just love to see a story where The League is united in its fight of good vs. evil, with some romance and levity thrown in for good measure!” -Susan Eisenberg

Retrospective Review - Superman/Batman: Apocalypse
This film was a direct sequel to Public Enemies, with the events of that movie being referenced in early parts of this movie. The movie is based on the storyline 'The Supergirl from Krypton' from the Superman/Batman comics, which I haven't really read so I'm not quite sure how close to the comics this movie sticks to. I think its a slightly better movie when it comes to story when compared to Public Enemies. While the film is called 'Superman/Batman', I think its fair to say that Superman and Supergirl are slightly more prominent in this movie than Batman, even though he plays a prominent role for sure. Its close to a DC trinity movie because Wonder Woman also has a prominent role in the movie.
The film is basically about Kara arriving on Earth for the first time, meeting Superman and Batman, who have opposing reactions to her presence. While Superman embraces her as one of his own family, Batman views her with suspicion. Meanwhile, Darkseid plots to use Kara and her abilities and make her the leader of his female furies. The film takes its time with the setup, to show how Kara arrives on Earth, her interactions with Superman and Batman, her trying to adjust to Earth, how Wonder Woman gets involved to train her etc... But the film also moves at a good clip and there are quite a few good action scenes, especially when the action moves to Apocalypse and Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman enlist Barda to get to Apocalypse after Darkseid kidnaps Kara. There is a pretty epic fight scene between Wonder Woman and Barda against the Female Furies, an excellent fight scene between a brainwashed Kara and Superman, and cool scene where Batman outwits Darkseid. The film does a pretty good job showing Kara's frustrations because it seems like everyone is making her decisions for her and trying to impose upon her. The film also has an awesome climax where Superman and Kara individually take on Darkseid and we see both what they can do as well as how powerful Darkseid is.
When it comes to negatives, the film doesn't really paint Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in a flattering light. They often seem extremely judgmental when it comes to Kara. Wonder Woman even tries to kidnap Kara against her will without informing Superman, based on Batman's info, and Superman always thinks he's the only one who knows what is best for Kara. I get that this is partly intended because we are meant to empathize with Kara and see why she has these insecurities, but they could have maybe done it without making the DC trinity look so inconsiderate. Also, while the climax is awesome in terms of action, it feels a little tacked on, because the movie feels like it has come to an end after the whole Apocalypse sequence and then the final action sequence seems unnecessary. But I assume its an adaptation that was there in the comics. One other nitpick that I have is that I am not a huge fan of some of the character designs, but I know this is directly from the comics so I understand why the design is such.
The voice act again features a reunion of DCAU voice actors with Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, and Susan Eisenberg reprising their roles as Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman respectively. Summer Glau is excellent as Kara. Andre Braugher brings his trademark gravitas as Darkseid. Ed Asner is a great Granny Goodness and Julianne Grossman is a good Big Barda. Lauren Montgomery directs this film pretty well and its a fairly enjoyable, if not particularly deep, Superman/Batman movie, that functions as a Supergirl origin story. A 7/10 for me.

The death of Mark Bradley, a background student whom we know little of aside from that he's mlm, is further proof that Titans Academy is garbage.
So what we have is
The Bury Your Gays Trope. Why are they mindlessly using it in the year 2021.
Introducing an absolute flood of new characters that are not being utilized aside from being set pieces. The students barely do anything and when they do it's almost never actually interesting. (Except for Alinta/Bolt. She's cool).
The art making it look like the girls have lego-brick hair in a lot of scenes
Copious amounts a boob socks that seem to pinch the girls' breasts in four different directions.
Wally West being treated like crap by various former teammates because of Heroes In Crisis even though it's been well established that the massacre wasn't his fault and instead was Savitar's, and also established that this is now well known throughout the hero community.
Also Red X spreading misinformation and NOT getting called out at all.
Like Wally is literally standing there having his name dragged in the mud and no one, not even one of his best friends Donna Troy, lifts a finger to explain to the misinformed crowd what actually happened. Cyborg is also there and he ALSO doesn't say anything to support Wally, even though he's also fairly close with him.
Portraying Wally as forgetting his wife, literally one of the top three most important people in his life, when he sees Raven even though that goes against nearly aspect of his characterization.
The above having the side effect of implying that the creepy love spell Raven put him under in NTT is still in effect.
Oh and the whole mystery of "who is Red X?" Yeah, it's badly written, whoever is under the mask is pretentious, and I literally could not be any less invested in this plot line.
Like, out of all the ways they could have introduced Red X this is probably the worst way they could've done it.
Oh and it's also very clear pandering to people who are fans of the 2003 cartoon, as it's making clear attempts to morph the continuity of the cartoon into the comics in order to fit Red X into the story, even though this just creates tons of plot holes. This series wishes it had as good writing as 2003 TT did. (I'm saying this as a fan of that series).
Also the 2003 series ended fifteen years ago. Yes, it was popular (I was also a fan), but it's well past the point for it to make sense for DC to try and keep milking it the way that they do. If they aren't going to make a continuation (like they're doing with the dcau), they should just leave the ideas and concepts it brought foward alone.
Literally the only thing this comic has been good at is throwing out some cute BBRae content and the Wally & Roy reunion.
I'm tired

Honestly I dont care if I'm annoying, they did this with YJ Animated, he was with Dick, he is still in that show and he never talked to Tim. He is going to be with Damian in dcau TT movies, he is now Jason's Superboy, this all happened and we had to wait for a timkon reunion since 2012 in comics. And we got it this year. I wonder why Tim fans are so angry
