Republic Pictures Horror Collection will be released on May 21 via Kino Lorber. The two-disc set features four horror films produced by Republic Pictures: The Lady and the Monster, The Phantom Speaks, The Catman of Paris, and Valley of the Zombies.

1944's The Lady and the Monster is directed by George Sherman and written by Dane Lussier and Frederick Kohner, based on Curt Siodmak's 1942 novel Donovan's Brain. Vera Ralston, Richard Arlen, and Erich von Stroheim star.

1945's The Phantom Speaks is directed by John English and written by John K. Butler. Richard Arlen, Stanley Ridges, Lynne Roberts, Tom Powers, Charlotte Wynters, and Jonathan Hale star.

1946's The Catman of Paris is directed by Lesley Selander and written by Sherman L. Lowe. Carl Esmond, Lenore Aubert, Adele Mara, Douglass Dumbrille, Gerald Mohr, and Fritz Feld star.

1946's Valley of the Zombies is directed by Philip Ford and written by Dorrell McGowan and Stuart E. McGowan. Robert Livingston, Adrian Booth, Ian Keith, Thomas E. Jackson, Charles Trowbridge, and Earle Hodgins star.

In The Phantom Speaks, the vengeful spirit of an executed killer takes possession of a scientist to take revenge on those who wronged him, and a newspaper reporter becomes suspicious. In The Catman of Paris, an amnesiac Frenchman (Carl Esmond) blames himself for deeds done with the mark of a beast. In Valley of the Zombies, a woman falls under the hypnotic spell of a resurrected madman.

MANET

Le corps d’une jeune femme nue est retrouvé dans un studio photo. Il semblerait qu’elle ait été assassinée par le photographe en pleine reconstitution d’une œuvre de Manet. Verlay et Chassagne découvrent rapidement que ce meurtre est lié à « Chez Tortoni », un chef d’œuvre du peintre impressionniste volé dans le mythique vol du Musée de Boston. En ébullition, Florence sollicite alors l’aide d’un ex amant aventurier – « l’Indiana Jones » du monde l’art – spécialiste des œuvres volées… Une aide qui n’est pas vraiment la bienvenue de la part d’Antoine dont les sentiments s’accroissent aussi vite que la jalousie.

MUNCH

Reposant dans un sarcophage, une jeune femme rousse est retrouvée morte dans les Catacombes, un pieux dans le cœur… Seul indice pour le duo d’enquêteurs : la reproduction du tableau « Vampire » de Munch posée près du corps. Pour Antoine, cette scène de crime est un écho direct à la torture que lui inflige Florence en l’éconduisant. Notre duo va-t-il réussir à surmonter leur passion déchirante pour empêcher ce tueur, avide de sang, de nuire ?

(juste deux épisodes, c’est tellement frustrant... on en veut plus !! 😁 on veut voir Antoine jaloux et souffrir héhé - et pour l’épisode sur Munch, comme la première victime était rousse, je vois bien quelque chose arriver à Florence, vu qu’elle est rousse aussi)

Elle a également été l’occasion de remercier et de promouvoir trois sous-officiers à un grade supérieur et six chefs de section. Samedi 10 juin dernier, une matinée de formation complémentaire liée au matériel spécifique de notre région a mis un terme à la formation de base suivie au centre de formation de l’Etablissement cantonal d’assurance et de prévention (ECAP) et à l’interne du service de défense incendie et de secours du Val- de-Travers (SDIS). En 2023, un nombre important de recrues incorporées en début d’année ont suivi ces cours, il s’agit de : Laureline Anderegg, Maxime Aubert, Yannick Balisson, Alice Boileau, Antonio Gavinhos Marques, Maria Inês Da Silva Pereira, Lucas Ellenberger, Amélie Huguelet, Séverine Jacot-Descombes, David Koller, Anaïs Reboux, Léa Robert-Tissot, Raphaël Schaffo, Launora Sejdiu, Vanessa Vaudel et Piotr Zimoch. Deux nouveaux sapeurs-pompiers déjà formés, Lydia Tajes et Bastien Vaucher, ont également été incorporés samedi dernier. Trois personnes doivent encore accomplir la formation ECAP en 2024 pour être pleinement opérationnelles : Ylan Daniel, Jonalphy Lopez Pereira et Kerian Lüthi. Les 21 nouveaux sapeurs-pompiers ont été informés de la gestion des alarmes et de leur comportement en intervention. Cette cérémonie a également été l’occasion de féliciter et de remercier les appointé·es Meri Besson, Gilles Besson et Arnaud Zumstein qui ont suivi avec succès le cours de chef de groupe et qui ont été nommé·es au grade de caporal. A la suite d’un processus de sélection, plusieurs personnes ont également été nommées à la fonction de chefs de section à savoir : le premier-lieutenant Kevin Brocard, le premier-lieutenant Pascal Isler et le lieu- tenant Laurent Gossauer au sein du détachement de premiers secours 2 (DPS 2), le caporal Damien Walther et le premier-lieutenant Cédric Matthey au sein du DPS 3 de La Côte-aux-Fées et des Verrières et le premier-lieutenant Jean-Marc Vaucher au sein du DPS 3 de Travers. Le Conseil communal et l’Etat-major du SDIS tiennent à chaleureusement féliciter toutes ces personnes pour leur engagement citoyen et leur grand dévouement au service de la collectivité publique vallonnière.

Loyset Liédet (1420 – after 1479, or after 1484), was an early Netherlandish miniaturist and illuminator, running a workshop which may have been of some size. Although he was very successful, and patronized by the leading collectors of his day, his work does not attain the standards of his finest Flemish contemporaries, with whom he often collaborated on large commissions.
