Danny Fenton really likes his boyfriend, okay.
Him and Damian have been going out for three months already, and he hasn't tried to kill him, doesn't favor Danny over Phantom or vice versa and has helped him with his school work and now Danny's a confident B minus student!
Things are going great!
Which is why he's suprised when he wakes up and finds himself in a cave. Specifically, the Batcave.
Danny respects Damian and his family and their privacy, which is why he hasn't gone down in their basement unless Damian has stated he wants Danny down there. After all, Danny hasn't let Damian down in his basement, solely because he didn't want to freak him out with his parents portal.
They both know their respective families are strange in their own ways, and Damian has admitted he likes not having his family butt into his business. Danny can agree, which is why realizing he's in Damians basement is weird.
Danny has experience with getting kidnapped, so he doesn't panic, obviously. He looks around in amazement of all the stuff in Damians basement, especially the giant penny and Dinosaur.
He also realizes he's not alone, he can't physically see Damians siblings and dad, but he can feel them, especially Jason, who's near the Batmobile. Damians dad is somewhere up on the top of the cave, alongside Damians sister, Cass.
"So, Danny," Dick says, he's the only visible person in the cave and he's wearing his Nightwing suit yet has his domino mask off.
"Hi, Dick." Danny replies back, craning his neck to stare at the display of suits, from here he can't see Damians but knows it's there.
"You and Damian, huh? You've both have been going out for a while already, you two must be getting pretty serious." Dick says, normally he was cheery to the point that it freaked Danny out, but right now he had a small edge to his voice.
"Going on three months, yeah. He's great. Hey, why am I tied up in your dad's basement?" Danny asks, now staring at Dick, confusion lacing his tone.
"Well, as his oldest brother," Dick starts, "and Mother Hen!" Jason yells from the side, getting shushed. "I, as well as our family members, want to make sure Damian's with someone nice who wouldn't break his heart, he's sensitive."
Danny is pretty sure Damian would actually hurt Dick if he heard him say that, especially in front of his family, but he stays quiet.
Without waiting for Danny to speak, Dick barells on, "It's nothing personal, just... the man up there's a bit paranoid, and I am inclined to agree. Which is why we're here."
"I mean, Damian is way out of my league. You could ask anyone, they'd tell you." Danny said, purposely starting something that he'd know would set Dick and Bruce off. "Someone absolutely terrifying and really hot. Like, I have a terrible love life, which is why I'm happy Damian's stuck by me this long, y'know?"
Dick's face pinched around the time Danny started saying Damian was hot and he inwardly smiles, starting to feel anger radiate from the top of the cave all the down to where he and Dick were at.
"Plus, Damian is super smart, my grades have never been higher! And he's really good at fighting, we were play fighting once and he did this one move that threw me on the ground with him on top of me. Not to mention he's crazy flexible, Damian did this one trick that-"
"That's enough." The deep growl of Batman hisses from right behind Danny.
Whoops.

The Hand of Fate - Wait, I mean Time
Summary:
Clockwork sends Danny on a mission when he’s 16. Lo and behold, it lands him with a surprise husband on his 18th birthday.
Danny’s pretty sure Clockwork set him up.
[DPxDC Ship Week 2023 Masterlist]
[Ao3 Link]
Danny was suspicious about this request from Clockwork. Clockwork… wanted him to go running around through time… fixing some things? Which, wouldn’t that break the time stream? Clockwork had merely smiled mysteriously and told him that no, it wouldn’t affect the time stream, since Danny has already completed the tasks in the past. He just had to do them now. Or soon, at least.
Honestly, a lot of this time stuff hurt his head.
So, he went around through time.
He helped some Atlanteans, collected magical items, spoke a few prophecies (why Clockwork, why??), other times…. He just had to appear there as an apparition.
It never made sense, but whatever.
This most recent one was dumb. He just had to float there and wait for this guy to show up and warn him about his ‘beloved pits’ changing when the new ghost king was crowned. Which, no shit? There was going to be a new ghost king? No one had told Danny. Not that he really kept up with the gossip from the Zone.
Danny sighed, floating on his back. Maybe he could take a nap?
Or not.
Someone was approaching.
Ah, it must be the old man, the one he was waiting for.
Danny sat up, still floating.
A well put together man with black hair that was turning gray in areas and a green robe, edged with gold thread appeared around a corner of the cave..
“You Ra’s al Ghul?” Danny asked.
Two heavily armed men appeared out of nowhere, swords drawn protectively. Worried, Danny brought up an ectoplasmic green shield to protect himself. The man and his guard’s eyes widened.
“Hey, hey, don’t shoot the messenger. I’m just here to tell you something, then I'm gone.”
“What message do you have for the Demon’s Head,” the man in green asked.
“In the future, the Lazarus Pits will change with the coronation of the new Ghost King. Their nature will remain the same, however the emotional repercussions from delving into the Pits shall change.”
Ancients, he hated how formal and stuffy he had to sound.
“How?” the man demanded in a cold and angry tone.
“Uh, no idea, not my problem, I told you the thing, now bye!”
With that, Danny turned invisible and flew off, rushing back through the natural portal that was just a short flight away.
***
Danny felt completely overwhelmed. HE was the next Ghost King?!? HIM? A halfa?!? Someone who wasn’t even fully dead and who struggled to even get Cs in high school?!?
It made no sense to him, but apparently it made sense to Clockwork and the other Ancients?!?
Like, what?
It was going forward though, as attendants were helping Danny put on this cool armor, medals, and a magical cloak. They were fitting his clothes for the coronation, Clockwork floating in the corner, acting all smug.
Also, Clockwork had made a mysterious comment about a husband?!? And an arranged marriage?!? Danny had no intention of getting married at eighteen!
As horrific as it was, kudos that they’d gotten him a man? That they’d had no problem that he was gay? Like, very progressive for these old ass ancient ghosts. Or was it actually transphobic?
He didn’t think so though. Danny was always referred to as ‘Danny’, with he/him pronouns, and as ‘Prince Phantom’ and they’d mentioned he was being crowned as King, not Queen.
Clockwork, the wonderful and absolute bastard that he was, had taken care of everything. Basically, all Danny had to do was show up, get crowned, and then be king? Which, thank goodness. But he’d given no reassurances about his supposed husband, besides the fact that they could dissolve the marriage after two years.
Two years.
Hopefully it would fly by with all of the new duties he would be taking on, and Danny could easily break off the marriage with whatever poor sap had been stuck with him.
Wait a minute.
Why did they even pick someone for him to marry? And what sort of criteria did they even use to find a husband for him.
“Hey, hey, Clocky.”
“Yes Daniel?” the older ghost asked amusedly. Asshole. He already knew what Danny was going to ask.
“Why do I have an arranged marriage? You’re the master of time, you could have prevented that - that - stupid archaic thing from happening,” Danny accused.
“I could have, it would have not changed the timeline much. However. As surprising as this may be to you, having an arranged marriage actually provides you with a better future.” Danny glared.
“Yeah, I call bullshit on that.”
“I thought you trusted me?” Clockwork asked with a chuckle.
“I do, but I also think you keep too much to yourself. I’m no longer a dumb sixteen year old, I’m not going to go running around through time on your little missions.”
“Do you truly think two years has given you that much additional wisdom?” Danny flushed, resisting the urge to stomp his foot like a child. Calm down Danny. Clockwork is just pushing your buttons.
“Who is this groom of mine? And when is he going to show up?” Danny hated how he was so used to bonkers BS that he just rolled with the punches at this point.
“Who would you want it to be?”
“The shallow part of me wants a hot celebrity. The feral gremlin part of me wants someone who can kick ass.”
“Why not both?”
“I can’t believe you’re quoting El Dorado to me. Who has both? Who has looks and can kick ass? Bruce Lee? Jackie Chan? Chuck Norris? They’re all too old for me, gramps.”
“What about a vigilante?”
“Ha! Alright, if I had to choose a vigilante, I’d pick Robin. The current Robin. He seems like he’s my age, uses a cool sword, fights good, and from what footage I’ve seen, easy on the eyes.”
Danny laughed to himself. Right. As if Robin would look his way, Danny was just a small town hero. Not only that, who even knew if Robin was interested in men.
Whatever, his coronation was in two days, and he was trying to prepare for his final exams.
***
Damian, dressed in his Robin costume, was standing atop a building, surveying streets of Gotham below. His father, Batman, was next to him, scanning the area with his wrist computer. The evening was quiet now, they’d already taken down a few muggers and left them for the police.
Out of nowhere, a brilliant Lazarus green scroll appeared in front of Damian. It unfurled, revealing dark purple cursive writing. A thick, platinum ring that had a green tint fell out from inside the parchment, hovering in the air before shooting forward and sliding onto Damian’s left ring finger.
He tensed.
That was the finger a ring would go on, if he was married, and Damian was certain he was not married.
The scroll in front of him refuted that, however. It announced his marriage to High King Phantom, and it called him the Heir of the Demon’s Head. The scroll kindly informed him of the magical bond he would share the next two years with his husband, stating that they would need to be within thirty miles of each other, and meet at least at least once a week for at least the next two years. Also that his presence was required at the High King’s coronation next week.
“Batman. We need to contact magic users immediately,” Damian growled, furious at this magical binding contract, which had his Grandfather’s signature on it.
***
To Damian’s horror, the ring would not leave his hand. Not only that, despite the contract having been made when he was a minor, it was binding. Grandfather had sold him off to some strange interdimensional King.
The magic users had little to no knowledge of this new king. They knew that the previous one had been a vicious tyrant, who was a sadist that enjoyed the torment of others. What few rumors they did have of Prince Phantom were good. He appeared to be the total opposite to his predecessor.
“This could be a good thing”, Zatanna had stated. “We can set up relations with this dimension to exchange knowledge and learn more about them.”
“We have no idea who they are, nor how they plan on taking my son,” his Father had protested.
Both sides had good points. Either way, at the day specified upon the scroll, Damian was in the BatCave, surrounded by his siblings and a few members of the Justice League as well as the Justice League Dark team.
His departure ended up being rather anticlimactic, he was merely teleported out of the room in a flash of Lazarus Green. Thankfully he had insisted on being in his Robin uniform with all of his weapons. He tensed, pulling out his katana, holding it out in front of him to defend himself.
Blinking, Damian looked around the room. Just in front of him were two beings. One, who seemed to age and then transition back to a child, having blue skin, red eyes, a grandfather clock in their chest, and wearing a purple cloak. The other being seemed to be a young man with white hair and Lazarus green eyes. His entire outfit was monochromatic, and he was yelling at the other being.
“- tired of this Clockwork! You’ve refused to tell me anything about this arranged marriage! The more I know about it, the more I can look for a loophole or a way out! There is no way I’m marrying some random stranger! I never even signed the fucking contract! How is this binding?!? We have ghost lawyers, don’t we? They need something to look at to get me out of this!” The white haired man ranted at the other being, who merely smiled serenely and gestured to Damian.
“Prince Phantom, your fiance has arrived. He has arrived just in time for your coronation later today. The marriage completes as soon as you are crowned King.”
Phantom whirled to face Damian, his mouth dropping open in shock upon seeing him.
“No. You have GOT to be kidding me!”

G̴̩͍͆͆̈́e̵̹̣͆t̷̬̋ ̸̻̮̎̒ĭ̸̏̃n̵͙̋͐ ̸̛̳̃t̶̪̣̅ḣ̸̳̇͜è̵̠̲͖̔̑ ̶̢̹̖͗͐̀Wa̵̬̞͝ṫ̴̩̣̣e̶͉̲̯͂̏̎r̴̉
It was a simple mission. Damian was working with Father to confirm the existence of a Lazarus Pit below Gotham, as Ra's Al Ghul speculated. And they had found it, deep in the caves below Gotham. A Pit the size of an Olympic sized swimming pool, bubbling and steaming. He'd only looked away for a moment.
"Kin-slayer."
Standing waist deep in the water stood Damian's reflection. The hair might be white, and the eyes glowing with the waters, but it was his face. But not his face alone.
Danyal's ghost glared at him. "Get in the water."
Father threw a batarang at him, but the metal flew straight through his head like it was air. Danyal didn't even glance at him, his eyes fixed on Damian. "Get in the water," he ordered again. He stepped closer to the shore and the green water sloshed up the bank higher than it was before. "Or I'll raise the tide so high, all of Gotham will die. So get in the water."
Damian's heart jumped into throat. "Wait-"
"Get in the water."
Father shoved Damian behind him, as if it would protect him, as if he could stop Danyal. "Stop this, please-" If he could just explain-
Another step and the waters surged forward, nearly touching Father's boots. "I'll make whirlpools so profound, your entire family will drown," he promised.
"NO!" Not his brother, his kind brother-
"THEN GET IN THE WATER!" Danyal snarled, revealing monstrously sharp teeth and a black tongue from Damian's poison. "G̴̩͍͆͆̈́e̵̹̣͆t̷̬̋ ̸̻̮̎̒ĭ̸̟̰͙̏̃n̵͙̝̟̋͐ ̸̛̳̃t̶̪̣̅ḣ̸̳̇͜è̵̠̲͖̔̑ ̶̢̹̖͗͐̀w̵̜͍̤̌a̵̬̞͝ṫ̴̩̣̣e̶͉̲̯͂̏̎r̴̉͜!̷̡͔́̀̽" He lunged and Father pushed them back down the passage they'd come. "Don't mistake this for a bluff, brother. You've lived more than enough. Just get in the water." Damian swallowed, throat dry. Was this Danyal's revenge? Did he finally have to face what he had done?
"Robin, who is this?" Father snapped, trying to keep retreating down the cave. But Damian wouldn't let him; the waters, and Danyal with them, would only follow.
Danyal looked between them, scowling. "G̴̩͍͆͆̈́e̵̹̣͆t̷̬̋ ̸̻̮̎̒ĭ̸̟̰͙̏̃n̵͙̝̟̋͐ ̸̛̳̃t̶̪̣̅ḣ̸̳̇͜è̵̠̲͖̔̑ ̶̢̹̖͗͐̀w̵̜͍̤̌a̵̬̞͝ṫ̴̩̣̣e̶͉̲̯͂̏̎r̴̉͜!̷̡͔́̀̽" he snapped again. "I'll take your father and gouge out his eyes, unless you want to stop being a coward and choose to die. Now... get in the water."
