Illinois Secretary of State candidate Dan Brady (R) has been linked to former President Donald Trump by his opponent Alexi Giannoulias (D). At the Illinois State Fair this Thursday, Brady was asked by a local reporter about his alleged support for Trump, and he replied that he couldn’t quite remember who he voted for in the 2020 election.

Brady is so cute I'm so sad he's in jail and just got stabbed.

Virgin River season 4 (spoilers)

This is mostly about Brady and Brie but I love them!!

First off, I think this is a great season! I mean, I understand the people saying it was dragged out and many storylines and being rushed but still I binged it and I already can’t wait for season 5 lol

I think they did focus a lot on Jack’s mental state but that’s super important and they showed genuine couple conversations between him and Mel. They’re relationship is amazing and I”m happy the last episode ended like it did with them being engaged and the results, and even the “cliffhanger”. It wil be hard for Jack but that way he can start a family with Mel like a clean slate sorta thing? I mean obviously it’s for the best.

Ricky and Lizzy cute, I hope they’ll be back together next season. Denni is shady as hell, I do believe him about the money and his disease but iI just don’t like him.

And now for my favorite couple (sorry Mel and Jack) - Brady and Brie. I’m IN LOVE with them.

They’re so cute and perfect together!!! I mean helllooooo do you see them? They’re gorgeous!! They are stronger than ever, their characters developed so much and I enjoy seeing them being the cute and perfect couple they are. Their “I love yous” to one another are so sweet and tender, him surprising her at the wedding, making her breakfast, Brie trusting him with her trauma which is so good to see (in the end she even said it out loud), and he actually had tears in his eyes!! when he told her about writing it down and also when he spoke to Mel because he wanted to do right by her. He is so sweet and caring and he loves her so much and that’s why they are my favorite couple.  

Also, sad to see he only thinks Brie is here for a short-term and doesn’t ‘believe’ Brie is invested, I wanted her to do something to show him how much she loves him (even though it is clear) and make him see their future together. (She told Mel at the wedding one day she’ll be surprising them ahhhhhhh). 

My only scare is that Brady is not telling Brie and Mike about the shady lady and he’s going to be involved in trouble again because he wants to protect Brie.

Virgin River pilot thoughts

Not sure why it took me so long to finally watch this show... I read the books years and years ago as, like, an easy read and even though it became quite repetitive I did finish the whole series. It's pretty cliché and unimaginative but you know, it is what it is. Fun fact, I only ever read two romance series of that type, this and Bridgerton. I'd say Virgin River was better but not by much.

I like the actress they picked for Mel. I thought for sure I knew her from something else but turns out I was getting her confused with Sophia Myles, my bad

Not sure how I feel about the guy playing Jack, on the other hand. He seems okay so far but there was something about him that rubbed me the wrong way in Grey's (where his storyline was literally straight out of a Virgin River novel) so we shall see

Ah, I see Preacher got the dubious honor of being picked for the role of 'only Black guy in town.' (The books were qwhite homogeneous.) He was my favorite in the early books so good for him I guess.

So far everything's sticking pretty close to the first book, except that they introduced Brady early. I wonder if all the characters will end up on the show eventually because there's a lot of them...

Introduction

So here it is, here's the book we're going to read together. I'm aware this is a Junior Novelization and is basically a book for small children, but it's interesting for SO MANY reasons so please just indulge me on my bullshit for a little while.

First of all, the fact that it's a novelization of the movie Foodfight. I'm sure if you're reading this blog, you've already heard of the movie so I'm not going to spend too much time going over it, but to cut a long story short, Foodfight was a 2012 animated children's movie directed by Lawrence Kasanoff that centers around a supermarket that comes to life and transforms into a city at night. Said city is populated by "Ikes", icons of the various brands of grocery store product e.g. Mr Clean, the California Raisins, Charlie Tuna, as well as original characters like Dex Dogtective which the film actually centers around. In many ways, you could say this movie is like Wreck-It Ralph if it centered around a grocery store instead of an arcade. You could ALSO say this movie is about a Jewish cartoon dog fighting Nazis in a barely disguised parody of Casablanca with a scene where a chocolate squirrel played by Wayne Brady insuinates he wants to ejaculate in/on a woman. Because that's literally the plot for some reason? This movie is crazy loco and it's hard to imagine what it'd be like in book form. It's also interesting for other reasons however:

The film itself had a long and painful development. Originally intended to release in 2002, the release date shifted to 2006, then 2007, until it FINALLY came out in 2012. Over that period of time, the film was restarted from scratch so many times that it went from looking like this:

Around 2006 (one of the initial release dates for the movie) various merchandise for the movie was produced or in development, ranging from children's books, to plush toys, to even a videogame that had a playable demo at E3 2006 but ultimately was never released. The children's books were eventually released in stores, and the plush toys were sold off to various arcades/claw machines. However, among all this merchandise, there's one piece of it I've never seen discussed ANYWHERE online- and that's the novelization.

I found it on eBay a few weeks ago and instantly just HAD to buy it. There were so many questions in my head right away: Why was the novelization was published in 2008, four whole years before the actual movie came out? Okay, it's probably just because the movie was planned to release around that time at one point, but how is there no other information about this anywhere online? If this was published in 2008, is there a chance it's based on an earlier version of the movie and has vast differences from the finished film? (if you can even really call the film "finished"...) The book says it contains 8 pages of color stills from the movie- again, how can that be when this was 4 years before the movie came out?

I just couldn't leave all these questions unanswered, and so here it is in my hand (next to the Daredevil Dan plush I own because I'm NORMAL about this movie), Foodfight: The Junior Novelization. As far as I can tell, this was the ONLY copy of the book available anywhere on the internet (is it maybe even the only copy in existence? Why is this book so vague and unknowable) so I'm really at the forefront as far as discussion of it is concerned, on account of being probably the only person to discuss this ever. I'll also be uploading the entire book to the Internet Archive for those wanting to read it themselves. But for those still reading this, and for those yearning for a page-by-page analysis comparing the novelization to the finished film, I'm your girl! Stick with me and we'll strawberry jam our way through this enigma of a book.
