Do not fall in love
With people like me.
people like me
will love you so hard
that you turn into stone
into a statue where people
come to marvel at how long
it must have taken to carve
that faraway look into your eyes
Do not fall in love with people like me
we will take you to
museums and parks
and monuments
and kiss you in every beautiful
place so that you can
never go back to them
without tasting us
like blood in your mouth
Do not come any closer.
people like me
are bombs
when our time is up
we will splatter loss
all over your walls
in angry colors
that make you wish
your doorway never
learned our name
do not fall in love
with people like me.
with the lonely ones
we will forget our own names
if it means learning yours
we will make you think
hurricanes are gentle
that pain is a gift
you will get lost
in the desperation
in the longing for something
that is always reaching
but never able to hold
do not fall in love
with people like me.
we will destroy your
apartment
we will throw apologies at you
that shatter on the floor
and cut your feet
we will never learn
how to be soft
we will leave.
we always do.

wed | 05.25.22 [9/100 days of productivity]
been missing two posts of this, honestly i’m still catching up with my motivation and there’s nothing worth romanticizing for, but i’ll try to stay consistent while i’m at it. for the past two days, i did:
• watch another movie a girl with the dragon tattoo (2011) with a friend over discord (mixed feelings and very graphic)
• groceries shopping (i started cooking again, it’s just the best coping mechanism)
• crosscheck my intl scw journal before finally submitting it (i procrastinated this for so long because the variables started to become unclear to me, revision is a must)
• cook two meals by myself, tuna spaghetti and spicy tuna enoki
• attend a social development class (i skipped a few classes beforehand, feels like i’m still stuck in time)
• arrange an interview with the committee at my internship place, which is an NGO (scheduled for friday, it’s for a primary data)
• start reading how to die by seneca

Brown University students are launching an indefinite hunger strike for Palestine
they are asking for their university to divest from companies profiting from the genocide in gaza and openly call for a ceasefire and will not eat until the university governing bodies hears and considers a divestment resolution. if you are not familiar with the physical toll a hunger strike takes on the body, it might be worth looking up to get a better sense of what a significant action these students are taking. the university's highest governing body is having their first meeting of 2024 on february 8-9th so let's rally around them to muster even more pressure on brown university.
brown university contact page: let's state our support for these students and let brown university know the world will be watching what happens next!
additional reading: coverage of this story in the university's student news paper - get to know some of the hunger strikers

I want to see characters being taken care of in an explicit and worshipful way. Home-cooked meals. Hair brushed and braided by gentle hands. Little gifts just because.
I want to read about characters who are not used to kindness being bombarded by acts of service. This trope works romantically and platonically. Give me found family and acts of service - all the ways a character is wrapped up in wordless, explicit care after years of cruelty and having no idea how to handle. I need it.
