Never getting over baby a-Yuan clinging to LWJ’s leg while all those villagers scolded him for being a shitty parent/tried to offer parenting tips and he was like “no you don’t understand he’s not my kid, I’m not his dad”
Then Wei Wuxian was like “He’s my son! I gave birth to him myself!”
And Lan Wangji was immediately like “Oh okay I guess he IS my kid and I AM his dad and now I am going to buy him Every Toy because it is my right as his father to spoil him.”

❤️Seen and not heard
by eatmyass
E, 51k, wangxian
Summary: Lan Wangji feels his heart break. He wishes he could scoop the children up and hide them somewhere, where nothing will ever hurt them again. “Please, all of you eat,” he pleads. “There will always be enough from now on. It is my promise.” “You’re too good, Hanguang-jun,” Wei Wuxian sighs. “You’ll make a wonderful father someday.” “I will have learnt from the best,” he nods at Wei Wuxian. The man’s cheeks fill with colour so pretty, Lan Wangji has to turn away entirely in order to breathe again. ——— A storm thunders violently, the forest howls in pain, and children are disappearing into the night. Amongst it all, Lan Wangji encounters a strange, beautiful man. And his five children.
Mojo's comments: Someone is whisking away marginalized children - orphans and street kids - from many towns and villages. Wwx, working in the orphanage where he grew up (after his street years), gets wind of it in time to grab the five remaining kids and run. He stumbles into an inn after staggering his way through a tremendous storm and a haunted forest, right into an unsuspecting lwj's life. The pacing for much of the story feels tranquil and domestic, yet it's really, really NOT, because all kinds of stuff is happening in the background, while lwj falls helplessly in love with wwx AND all five of the children, and realizes how much his life has been missing. He's pretty much instantly committed to their lifelong protection and happiness, although, of course, he can't come right out and SAY it, it would be disrespectful to put wwx in such a position.
case fic, no sunshot campaign, canon-divergence, kid fic, strangers to lovers, dadxian, found family, pov lan wangji, pining, sharing a bed, fake/pretend relationship, first time, different first meeting, non-cultivator wei wuxian, accidental baby acquisition, good father wei wuxian, good father lan wangji, getting together, parent-child relationship, first kiss, shameless smut, top lan wangji, top wei wuxian, happy ending

#xiantober Day 1: Dadxian
"Baba! Baba!"
Wei Ying smiles as he watches his son run toward him, tiny backpack swinging wildly as he goes. "Hey, little radish! How was your da—oof!"
The rest of his words (and a little bit of his breath) are knocked out of him as A-Yuan jumps.
Thankfully, used to A-Yuan's tendency to launch himself, Wei Ying catches him easily and brings him up to rest on his hip.
"Baba! Can we get a rabbit?"
Wei Ying blinks. "What?"
A-Yuan squirms in his arms. "We should get a rabbit! We learned about them today!"
"I see," Wei Ying says, nodding his head. "I can't agree to that right now, bud. We will need to do research before we can decide on that."
A-Yuan's eyes widen as he pouts at him. "Pleeeaaaaseeee?"
Wei Ying laughs and pokes A-Yuan's cheek. "We can't get one yet."
"But, if you eat all your dinner tonight, including your veggies, I will look into us taking a trip to a place that sells rabbits this weekend. Only to look and learn! No buying yet. Deal?"
A-Yuan nods his head vigorously. "Yes! Yes! I'll be good, let's go!"
~
Turns out, there's a specialty rabbit shop not too far from their apartment. So, A-Yuan having upheld his end of the deal, the pair find themselves outside the shop on a sunny Saturday afternoon.
"Baba! Let's gooooo!" A-Yuan whines, pulling Wei Ying's arm.
"Ah, ah. Hold up a second there, little radish. What are we here for?"
A-Yuan stops pulling and looks at him with a serious face. "Looking and learning."
"Good. And what aren't we here for?"
With a forlorn sigh, A-Yuan replies, "Buying."
Wei Ying chuckles. "Good. Let's go."
They enter the shop and find a quiet, cozy interior with all sorts of rabbit-related items. It's quite cute. A-Yuan wanders off to look at toys while Wei Ying looks over various hutches.
"Good afternoon," a deep, smooth voice says. "May I help you?"
"Yeah, I—oh," Wei Ying falters as his breath is stolen from him by the sight of the most beautiful man he's ever had the pleasure of seeing. He realizes after a moment that he is staring quite dumbly and rudely. "Um, ah sorry. Yes, my son is interested in getting a rabbit."
Wei Ying gestures to where A-Yuan appears to be weighing two different rabbit toys in his tiny hands. The man looks over and hums in acknowledgement before returning to meet Wei Ying's gaze. "We're here today to learn and look before we decide on getting a rabbit."
The man nods. "That is very wise. I can answer any questions you have, plus we have a brochure that contains links to helpful websites."
"Ahh, that'd be great! Thanks. I'm Wei Ying, by the way. And you are?"
"Lan Zhan," he replies, pointing to the name tag on his shirt.
Ah...
Well! Can't blame Wei Ying for not noticing that when he has a face like that. With a slightly awkward laugh Wei Ying nods. "Right. Well, thanks Lan Zhan. I'm a complete rabbit virgin so I'm trusting you to take good care of me." He smiles wide to cover the internal cringe.
Why did he say it like that? Sure, the man is beautiful and stunning, and sure, he wouldn't say no if he was asked out on a date, but the man is working! Being flirted with at work is the worst, Wei Ying knows firsthand from his years bartending just how sucky that is.
He's just about to apologize when he sees Lan Zhan's mouth tick up in the corners ever so slightly. "I promise to take good care of you," he says in a low voice. Then, almost as an afterthought, "Wei Ying."
Wei Ying feels his face warm with blush. "G-good."
"Would you and your son like to see the rabbits?"
Before Wei Ying can respond, the son in question all but screams "YES!" before rushing over to Wei Ying's side. "Yes, please! Rabbits, please!"
Wei Ying laughs brightly. "I think that's a yes."
"Mn," Lan Zhan replies warmly.
They follow Lan Zhan through the shop into a room at the back where there are a number of pens and hutches set up with rabbits. Beside him, A-Yuan gasps and grips his hand tightly."
"Baba," he whispers in awe. "Rabbits!"
Wei Ying chuckles softly, petting his head.
"You may look closer if you wish."
A-Yuan looks up at Wei Ying with wide eyes.
"Go ahead."
Slowly, A-Yuan lets go of Wei Ying's hand and waddles over to the closest pen and stares at the rabbits within with wide-eyed wonder.
"I love them," A-Yuan breathes.
Wei Ying shares a look with Lan Zhan before walking over and crouching down next to A-Yuan. "They're definitely cute, that's for sure."
"Would you like to hold one?" Lan Zhan asks.
A-Yuan whips around so fast that Wei Ying gets whacked in the face with his hair. "I'm allowed!?"
Lan Zhan nods.
A-Yuan, much to Lan Zhan's surprise as well as Wei Ying's, runs up and launches at Lan Zhan to hug him. Surprisingly, Lan Zhan reacts quickly and catches A-Yuan. Wei Ying's shocked expression meets Lan Zhan's and something soft passes between them.
"A-Yuan, you shouldn't launch yourself at just anyone!"
Sheepishly, A-Yuan pulls back. "Sorry, bunny gege."
Lan Zhan shifts to tell A-Yuan something but Wei Ying gets distracted by the sight of Lan Zhan's ears, dusted with a rosy blush. Cute.
He realizes Lan Zhan is looking at him again. "Oh, is A-Yuan going to hold a rabbit?"
"Mn. Would you like to as well?"
Wei Ying smiles. "Sure! Just teach me how."
Lan Zhan nods. "You are in good hands, as I said."
Wei Ying notices his ears are a darker shade now.
Lan Zhan directs them to sit before going off to grab two rabbits. He comes back with them held in his arms, against his chest. Carefully, he deposits one on Wei Ying's lap and the other on A-Yuan's as he instructs them on what to do.
Then, they are holding rabbits.
It's so much nicer than Wei Ying expected it would be. They are quiet and soft and warm. The rabbit just melted right into him. Gently, he runs a hand over its fur to pet as Lan Zhan showed.
"Baba," A-Yuan says. "Baba, I'm holding a rabbit!"
Wei Ying looks at his son.
"Sure are, radish. You're doing great!"
A-Yuan beams at him, tiny hand petting the rabbit in his lap.
"Rabbits can be given radishes as treats sometimes," Lan Zhan states.
Wei Ying looks at him and laughs. "Hear that, radish? What if a rabbit tries to gobble you up?"
"Nooooo!" A-Yuan whines, giggling. "I'm not a real radish! I'm a boy!"
"No? Huh. I could have sworn you were," Wei Ying teases.
Lan Zhan huffs a quiet laugh at that and Wei Ying feels like his world tilted 5 degrees suddenly.
All too soon, the rabbits are placed back and the three of them walk back into the store proper. Lan Zhan hands Wei Ying a brochure and walks them to the exit.
"Thank you for this," Wei Ying says.
"Yes! Thank you bunny gege!"
"It was my pleasure," Lan Zhan replies softly.
They say their farewells with the promise of coming back to the store soon enough.
A-Yuan is practically vibrating with excitement the whole way home.
It's when A-Yuan is down for his name that Wei Ying takes a look at the brochure Lan Zhan handed him and smiles.
On the inside, there's a handwritten number.
It seems like more than just rabbits will be coming into Wei Ying's life soon.

No warnings, its very soft. Enjoy! ❤
.✦When I Grow Up - Ghost of Mine short
Wei Wuxian smiled as he carried Wen Yuan to bed, sighing as he tucked him into his covers. “My little radish…you can’t go running around at night, the spirits are active at this hour.”
Wen Yuan pouted and shook his head, continuing to hold onto the cultivator’s neck so he couldn’t be put to bed properly.
“What’s this?” Wei Wuxian laughed softly and pulled his arms away, looking at the boy with tired eyes as he distracted his little hands with his fingers. “Little radishes need to sleep, or how else will they grow up big and strong? There’s no sun at night, and i can’t plant you this late.”
Wen Yuan looked conflicted as he squeezed the other’s fingers. “A-Yuan… missed you.”
Wei Wuxian hesitated and his shoulders softened, a warm edge to his eyes. “Xian-Gege missed you too. But you have to rest, otherwise how will you be able to see the sunrise with me?”
“Xian-Gege never wakes up at sunrise.”
Wei Wuxian laughed and gently bopped the boy on the nose with his index finger. “Ah, my little radish is too smart to trick with promises of the sunrise, huh?” He gently pet the blanket over the boy, making sure he was snug. “Isn’t it nicer to enjoy the sunset with Qing-Jie, or your Ning-gege? They love you too. And are actually awake at that hour.”
“But…wanna be with Xian-gege.” Wen Yuan held the other’s hand, holding it to his face so he could hug it.
Wei Wuxian melted, letting out a quiet sigh. “I’ll be here. I won’t get up after you fall asleep.”
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
Wen Yuan smiled and hugged the others face as Wei Wuxian leaned down, not letting him move away. Wei Wuxian couldn’t help but to laugh, gently pulling his arms away again after a brief hug in return. “What can i do to convince you to sleep sooner?”
“Lullaby.” Wen Yuan beamed as if in victory, and Wei Wuxian smiled warmly in response.
“Alright.”
Wei Wuxian hummed quietly tones he remembered from that nostalgic sound, memories of something warm that swirled and fluttered in his stomach. he let the child fiddle with his fingers as he soothed the boy, his eyes crinkling subtly when the boy reached up to admire one of the hanging red jewels from his ears.
He shook his head slightly, the resentful energy making the little opals glow red and shimmer in the low light. He smiled as the little boy’s eyes widened in awe, little flecks of red fractals shimmering around the little boys fingers.
“A-Yuan wants to have one too…”
Wei Wuxian paused in his melody and sighed, “When you get a bit bigger. You could catch them on something when you go play at this age.”
Wen Yuan squirmed out of the covers to hug the man’s face again, and he couldn’t help but giggle when Wei Wuxian blew a raspberry on his tummy.
“Plus Qing-Jie has scary needles to pierce with, you need to mentally prepare for such barbarity,” He teased, kissing the boy’s cheek before laying him back down. “Now come on, you promised to sleep in exchange for a lullaby-” He paused as the boy tugged on his sleeve.
“Xian-gege?”
Wei Wuxian closed his eyes briefly and sighed, but came back with a smile again. “What is it, little radish?”
“I wanna grow up to be like you…”
Wei Wuxian hesitated, smile faltering for a moment. “Like me? Not like…someone else in your actual family?”
Wen Yuan shook his head, “I wanna grow up to be like you.” He smiled widely, hugging his covers. “You saved us, you never treated us bad, and you protect us! I love Xian-gege!” He paused, blinking as little drops fell on his cheeks. “Xian-gege?”
Wei Wuxian swallowed and sniffed quietly, hurrying to wipe his eyes. “Ah I'm alright, little radish.” He smiled again, even if it looked a little more red and damp. “You just remind me of the good in the world.” He whispers, leaning in to kiss the little boy’s head. “Xian-gege loves you, too. You can grow up and be whoever you want to be…my mother once told me something that i think would be good for you to remember as well.”
Wen Yuan perked up and nodded, holding onto the man’s fingers as he placed his hand over his little body.
“This world is a big, scary place. But it’s also the opposite.” He gently tucked the other in a little more. “It has so much love to give, and it's so much better to continue to put more good into this world instead of dwelling on whether you are even with another. You shouldn’t think about whether you owe them kindness.” Wei Wuxian spoke softly, “It took me many years to figure out what this meant as i grew older, but it stuck with me for my entire lifetime.”
“I’ll be the nicest!” Wen Yuan smiled, and a pang of familiarity bloomed in his chest. “I’ll be the nicest, and make Xian-Gege happy!”
Wei Wuxian laughed softly, warmth and ache bringing a little smile to his face. “How could you make me any happier?” He gently rubbed their noses together and hummed quietly, “I might have to get you mung bean cakes tomorrow to celebrate.” He whispered, hearing a little gasp from the boy.
“Promise?!”
“Promise. If you sleep.” He laughed softly as the boy hurried to cuddle into his blankets, closing his eyes and once again humming that familiar melody, but imagining the warmth of a sun through the green canopy of leaves. The sound of laughter and his mother’s voice with that gentle, summer breeze.
He loved being alive. He could remember that.
He loved the little joys of life. The times where there were no worries were beloved, but he had many little joys still in moments like this.
He hoped, at least, that he could pass on a little bit of that joy.
He certainly felt something as he watched the boy drift to sleep, gently caressing his thumb on the other’s little, rosy cheek.
With each note, this song imbued his loves and hopes.
Being alive was a joy.
Being loved was a joy.
He loved this world, despite its shortcomings.
He wanted to remember this feeling.

In addition to 911 for emergency services, you used to be able to dial 411 for information. The way the number actually functioned is, you would explain to the phone worker the information you were trying to find, and they would connect you to a call center that specialized in that function. Analog Google.
In highschool, my teacher told me a story her mother (who had worked as a 411 phone operator for a while) had told her of the best call she ever received. Kids used to learn about 411 alongside 911, so they could make use of information services for things like school projects. Well, one day a little kid — who couldn’t have been older than four or five — called 411 to ask the nice lady who worked for the information people a very important question.
See, he had lost his shoes. He couldn’t remember where he’d put them, and he’d already tried looking for them. Surely, the Information People, who’s job is to Know Stuff and help you Find Stuff, could tell him where he’d left them?
My teacher’s mom spent a good fifteen minutes on the phone with the kid, suggesting likely hiding places based on her own experience as a mother. Eventually the kid did in fact find his shoes.
And I’m not saying 411 phone operator WWX answering a call from a-Yuan, but I’m also not. Not saying that.

(Some post-canon dadxian and Sizhui fluff for these cold days)
"I know Hanguang-Jun asked you to, but couldn't we have sent a disciple instead? It's so cold, Sizhui!"
"We're almost there, stop complaining" Jingyi pouted, but kept walking alongside him.  Once they reached the Jingshi's door, Sizhui balanced the tray he had been carrying in one hand and knocked. Nothing. "A-die?" He received no answer. It was almost noon — later than his dad would usually wake up — but with his father away in chief cultivator business and with the snow blanketing every corner of the Cloud Recesses, his dad could sleep well into the afternoon if left to his own devices. Exactly the reason why his baba had asked him to make sure he would eat regularly.
Upon entrance, he could confirm his dad was still in bed, completely under the covers. "A-die?" He tried again as he settled down his tray. This time he did stir, peeking from under the sheets blearily. "A-Yuan? What are you doing here so early?" Behind him, Jingyi snorted.
"It's almost noon, and you missed breakfast, so we are here with food for you." His best friend explained. His a-die only yawned in response. "Please come eat, the food is still hot." He gave him his sweetest smile, hoping it would help to convince him. His dad only sighed, defeated.
"Come cuddle with your old dad while Jingyi makes tea. Once that's done, I'll eat, I promise." Sizhui ignored the offended 'hey!' Jingyi shouted at his back, and walked towards the bed, where his dad was holding up the covers for him to crawl in.
"Technically, you're only 8 years older than me."
"My new body is 8 years older, but mentally I'm the same as your father's. Now stop being an unfilial child and hurry up, I'm getting cold!"
"Are you saying baba is old?" He asked, laughing lightly, climbing into bed.
"You ask as if you don’t know him— Ah! A-Yuan, your robes are so cold! Gods, poor child, it must be freezing out there, you will warm up in no time. Come here, come here — What was I saying?"
"That baba is old"
"Ah! Yes, yes, thank you. He acts like an old man, scolding everyone and getting grumpy for everything. I love him just the same, though." Sizhui hummed in response, having no counter-argument to his dad's claims. "Don't tell him I said that, or I will bury you under the snow."
"I won't, I won't." He replied, smiling. Sizhui settled with his arms tucked against his chest, his head under his dad's jaw. He was getting pleasantly toasty under all the sheets he was wrapped in, he felt his limbs relax.
It would only be a minute, he told himself, Jingyi would be done with brewing any second now and they would have to go back to their duties. His breathing slowed down, synchronizing with his a-die's and then, darkness.
—
"Alright, it's done, come here!" Jingyi received no answer. Frowning, he walked to peek into the room, only to find Sizhui and Wei-Qianbei deeply asleep, snuggling together.
“Not fair,” he muttered, maybe pouting only a little. Now he also missed his parents and his warm bed. With a sigh, he went back to the main room, where the food was. He put heating talismans on everything, fed the fireplace and bundled himself in his coat.
He wanted to go back to the dormitories, but with Sizhui missing, he will need to start on their duties right away to make up for his absence — he didn’t mind though, his best friend deserved the rest. With a last look to the bedroom, he smiled and walked out, into the cold.
They had looked so cute, Hanguang-Jun would be mad he missed it.
