I want dragon age 4 to come out so I can see how close my 10 years of guessing was. I want to see if my guesses are better or worse than what happens in the game. If my guesses are worse I’ll get to enjoy a mind blowing game, but if my ideas are cooler, that would just make me think I’m a great writer. So I have set it up so I can’t lose. I wish to experience it.

Characters I think are going to come back in Dreadwolf. are half of these not going to happen? you bet but a girl can dream
Varric Tehtras I mean...come on, my man has voiced like 3 different cinematics for Dreadwolf Teasers He's gonna come back- How the Viscount of Kirkwall is gonna end up in Tevinter isn't important.
Dorian Pavus another obvious one, we're going to Tevinter, Dorian's become a fully-fledged Magister, he's no doubt going to play a role in some way.
Fenris Getting a little ambitious now but it'd be great to see some more DA2 companions come back and who better to bring back in Tevinter than the Blue Wraith himself? Just imagine the banter between him and Dorian that could unfold if the two of them got to interact.
Sten/Arishok Our favourite no-horned Qunari from Origins could possibly return given that Qunari's seem to be there left and right in concept art for DA4, and seeing the now-named Arishok return with knowledge from the blight and being 10 years wiser would be great fun!
Cole This is based purely on the line-up of Companion concept art where the last in the lineup looks shockingly like our fade spirit
Tumblr media
what exactly Cole's reasons/purpose for being in Tevinter or involved with the conflict of the game is up to debate but i'd certainly love to see him come back.

Tumblr media
Fenris: Tevinter would crumble without slaves. The Imperium's elite know no other way.
Tumblr media
Hawke: (“Don’t they rise up?”) Seems like a slave rebellion would end that.
Tumblr media
Fenris: There are rebellions all the time, actually.
Tumblr media
Fenris: Most of them end... poorly. The Senate always unites when faced with "sedition."
Tumblr media
Fenris: One day things will change. Then the magisters will see just how fragile their hold is.
Forget the Dread Wolf (no offense) — this should be the plot of Dragon Age 4. Let’s guillotine the archon! Burn down the Senate! VIVE LA REVOLUTION!
Then again, given what we’ve seen of Bioware’s previous forays into politics, maybe it would be best to focus on the nerdy hobo god. I swear to god, if there’s a subplot that tries to guilt us about being mean to poor helpless slaveowners just trying to hold their totally happy slaves in peace

Dreadwolf Speculation - Protagonist + Companions (Part 1 - long post)
Let me start by emphasising that this is purely my own speculation given what we've seen in the trailers, teasers, concept art, and the most recent leak we've had regarding gameplay (curtesy of reddit about a month or so ago). Feel free to disagree, propose your own speculations, and most of all, enjoy the freedom of deliberation!
Part 1 - The Protagonist.
I propose that the new protagonist of Dragon Age is called Rook.
Tumblr media
A rook, below a wolf, as seen a few years ago. Mark Darrah tweeter images of this red book back around... 2017/2018 (I think this time period, I'm not a twitter person). This is pretty significant in my eyes, given the recent leaks from reddit that triggered the memory of this image.
Tumblr media
This is a cropped still from one of the leaked images of the early alpha gameplay.
There's a character called Rook (and we'll talk about Davrin in Part 2...), confirmed - I completely believe these leaks are real. Given the significance of the rook image above, back from 2017ish, I feel like it'd be odd for a companion/side character/even a notable character to have such prolific imagery... So that stands to reason, the next main character will be Rook.
But let me give you a brief overview of a rook;
a rook is a piece in chess; it may move any number of squares horizontally or vertically without jumping (oh maker, bioware, please), and it may capture an enemy piece on its path; additionally, it may participate in castling (castling is a special move between the rook and the king that both gets your rook into play and shields your king via a switcheroo, basically (poetic given how Rook will swap places with the Inquisitor against Fen'Harel - it's actually really interesting ((I swear)). It's the only time in chess where you can move 2 pieces at once, and where the king can move more than 1 square!). The rook is sneaky, fast, and good for infiltrating the enemy and forcing them to move.
I also find it interesting how you start chess with 2 rooks... Perhaps that will mean nothing, but perhaps not....
Now, let's consider a rook; the bird;
Tumblr media
A rook is a very sociable/gregarious member of the Corvus family (crows, esssentially), who are rarely found by themselves. It should also be noted that wolves and ravens have a distinct but unusually friendly/symbiotic relationship (ravens are also of the Corvus family) - I just think that's neat, considering the dread wolf.
I really like the bird symbology - especially having a previous bird protagonist (Hawke, of course!).
; Leliana also keeps corvids as her messengers. (wait... red book with a rook.... red rook.... where have I... Ohh)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hahaaa.... I'm not done!
Tumblr media
See those black feathered arm flaps? Am I connecting the dots? (You ain't connecting shit, Nae)
I suppose you all are thinking the same/similar thing; this is an antivan crow.... this is maybe zevran.... No. It is not. Why is it not? Let me pull up the evidence; concept art (soo reliable).
Tumblr media
Please note, the anitvan crow to the left - ready to grab the palanquin holder- servant guy. And on the right, at the front... The character from above - similar in design, but the crow lacks the arm wing flapy-dealies. Let me zoom in on them both so you can see.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright, they are rather similar in design. But the right looks much more like the wine drinking guy. (Note that the one on the right looks male, and the one on the left looks female - could that imply these 2 are the male/female variations of our next protagonist? Or... Is this the 2nd rook on the chessboard I mentioned? Is the other rook going to dieee??? Tin foil hats for everyone!).
That's all I currently have on the protagonist! Hope you got as much out of this as I did!
Part 2 - Companion;
also;

CONFESSION:
I know many people hate the Dragon Age Keep, but I want it to stay. It's such a neat and fun little tool and I hope it gets adapted for Dragon Age 4

Okay so this is probably not gonna happen BUT what if we can choose origins based on chess pieces! Like they have the PC in the leaks listed as rook but what if we can be rook, knight, bishop, or pawn and that determines is our origin (not class or race).

I like the idea that Solas can’t get the orb out of the inquisitor’s hand so in da4 one of his primary weapons is just to wave it around.
Da4 protag: OH MY GOD WHAT IS THAT?!?
Varric probably: i would recognize that manicure anywhere!

What's your headcanon for da4 for the titans and lyrium?
I think the Evanuris put the Titans to sleep in order harvest lyrium from them. It makes sense over killing them so that they continue to make lyrium to harvest and with what we see in The Descent expansion.
I think Solas used the arch dragons as seals for the Evanuris but he also used the the sleeping Titans as an anchor for the veil itself and so they and lyrium, which is their blood, exist in both Thedas and the Fade. I think the Veil will fall in DA4 and we have an immediate fall out with Evanuris but afterwards the Titans will also wake.
I actually think a Titan has already awoken fully on the planet but not in the area known as Thedas. The 'massive cataclysm' reported by Voshai people who once sailed across the Volca Sea to traded with people of the Anderfels in Laysh was in fact a Titan that woke up.
As for regular Lyrium, it fueled magic before the Veil so I think it will do so after but I also think there will the the chance for those using, especially non Mages, to be enslaved to the will of a Titan like the Sha-Brytol we see in the Descent.
I think the Evanuris used lyrium brands/tatoos as a way to enthrall their slaves. I think they copied this technique from the Titan with regaurd to the Sha-Brytol and other beings we see in the Descent. I think Fenris's markings are actually a reproduction of this Evanuris magic but there is no Evanuris awake (or willing if it is Solas's markings) to exert their will on him.
In regard to red lyrium my thoughts are rather complicated and I need to talk about what I think of the taint first.
I think the taint in general is the Evanuris trying to enthrall from their prison. The hivemind of the Darkspawn is what first made me consider this. If this is correct I think the Taint has to be a form of blood magic done by the Evanuris because they do not have lyrium in their prison. That is why it infects lyrium and doesn't use lyrium. That blood magic is also know for mind control in Thedas also makes me lean towards this idea. When the Veil falls the Evanuris will control the Darkspawn and also the Wardens if they don't find a cure.
I had considered at one point it was the achedragons/Old Gods trying to emulate the the thrall of the Evanuris, but the fact that the Darkspawn seek out an achedragon/Old God to infect with the taint and turn into an archedemon in order to start a Blight has made me discount that.
If this take on taint and tainted/red lyrium is correct than creatures exposed to it would be in thrall to the Evanuris in contra-point to how I speculate Templars will be in thrall to the Titans.
Thank you for the ask!

I wanted to rant a bit about Kieran. Like it's cannon that he HAD the soul of an old god and he is alive ?? How is that even possible ? Could he potentially start a blight ?? Does he have the abilities of an old god ?? Can he command the dark spawn ? Can he spread the blight ?? SO MANY QUESTIONS. BUT I HAVE THEORIES SO STRAP UP.
So this is just me trying to justify my, solas tries to destroy the world by starting a blight ( WHICH WILL TOTALLY BE THE PLOT OF DREADWOLF ) and there were a few speculations and theories as to HOW solas will be able to control a blight. I HAVE ANSWERS. so if you choose to do the dark ritual with morrigan, the old god's soul gets passed to morrigans son, Kieran, then flemeth steals it from him in the fade in dai. What is the last scene in inquisition ??! SOLAS (potentially, allegedly) killing flemeth a.k.a mythal. Ok whatever he probably just made her pass out BUT could that mean that solas has a free old god soul in his hands to do as he likes with it ?? Well, no. This is a completely far fetched theory that couldn't possibly happen cause in the dragon age canon morrigan doesn't perform the blood ritual. But, bioware is very well known for destroying canon with every single release do if I'm right... I don't even know. BUT YEAH

What I Think Dragon Age Dreadwolf will do with the Evanuris: The Evanuris are just like Solas in that they are people. Some of them can be reasoned with, and maybe even convinced to join your side against Elgar’nan, Mythal, and Fen’Harel.
What I Hope Dragon Age Dreadwolf will do with the Evanuris: The Evanuris may not be gods, but they are also not quite what Solas described them as. He is incredibly biased on this particular subject just as mythological Loki would be when asked about the gods of Asgard. The game treats them as it does with the maker in a “Maybe, Maybe Not” Situation. The Dalish are validated and vindicated in their beliefs as the Evanuris, once freed, try and right the wrongs done against the people with you trying to convince them not to kill off all of humanity for everything it has done to the elves.
What I Fear Dragon Age Dreadwolf will do with the Evanuris: The Evanuris are not only all irredeamably evil, but also are completly responsible for the Blight, for Darkspawn, for Everything that has ever gone wrong with the world and werew in fact responsible for the Magisters entering the Fade instead of the old gods. The game ends with all the elves of Thedas, especially the Dalish, being told that they must give up all the traces of the Elvhenan and go convert to andrastianism since their gods are actually evil and bad unlike the Maker. The game puts this forth as a good thing.

speculation for how I think the plot of DA4 may go (or at least, the direction I would go) so potential spoilers, but - It’s funny to me that after Loghain in origins, people don’t seem to consider the possibility of Solas becoming a (optional) companion character (or advisor character) again, after you and solas are done fighting and the greater threat/scope of conflict is revealed at the 50% story mark. Like, it’s a very real possibility and would be very interesting. It’s what happens in Chrono Trigger and FFXIV with similar characters, and I remember the DA developers going wild with praise over the writing of FFXIV. Imagine how cool it would be to have his advice again, but this time without pretense. He stands in the corner with his deeper voice, sounding melancholy, feeling estranged from the other companions. think about how that would feel and how interesting that would be, and tell me that isn’t a BioWare move. Even people who hate him would be torn about killing him because they might want to get rid of him, but he is the only one with living knowledge about the evanuris. anyway I’ve been thinking about being able to talk more with him, openly, and I think any good writer would too

Very little will convince me that those leaks are from an actual hired playtester and not a move that the BW team has kept in their back pocket.

What if the DA4 protag is just Hawke??? And Solas accidentally and unknowingly saves him from some wonky time pocket in the Fade so there’s no aging or something and Hawke’s dumbass tumbles out into Tevinter slightly behind (and somehow still unnoticed by) Fen’Harel???
And it’s either, import your own Hawke oOoooh or Welcome To The DA Universe, brand new player, Here Is Our Favorite Dumbass 🤗🤗🤗
