It bothers me that religious oppression is considered cutesy.
I have mixed feelings on things like this because on one hand I think religions are mostly garbage and Islam’s rules for women are nothing short of oppressive and made for women to feel shame because men can’t be counted on to control or be held accountable for their actions.
But, on the other hand, I also have sympathy for all the young women and girls who grow up with this as a normalcy for them. It’s just engrained into them and to show them disgust or judgement when they don’t know why you’re doing it is mean.
Like, I don’t want a young woman to feel excluded from society or media representation just because she was raised that way, but also I would obviously prefer if women didn’t participate in sexist, oppressive ways of living instead. But, you can’t force people. It doesn’t work that way. I do think depending on where they live, information can be available to them, and so I’m aware it’s not always ignorance, but can be a choice.
I get what you mean, but this drawing is probably the least of my concerns when it comes to Muslim women.
(ps: phil's wings aren't supposed to be that small. i just wanted to illustrate what his wings generally looked like after being shot by juanaflippa and also explain how his wings appear and disappear)
