54 axolotls!!!!
Different colors same cuteness. It took me like a month but now that I see them together I feel so happy 😊 I hope they sell at the Christmas bazaar in my city, I hope people find them as cute as I see them ✨
( This is my own pattern, inspired by some google images)

In an effort to finish the sweater I started in January and then abandoned for Other Projects, I’m trying to do “30 Minutes of Knitting Making” a la Knitty Natty. And it’s only been a few days that I’ve been doing it but I’m finding my attention span to be soooo short, even though I have a podcast or something going too. I keep reaching for my phone and then putting it back like “No, bad brain! Focus!”
Tumblr media
Anyway, the 30 minutes a day is working - I’ve made a lot more progress already than I expected, and now that I’ve started the decreases it will go even faster. So I’m accomplishing what I set out to do. And maybe I can also do a little brain-training while I’m at it?

This crochet blanket was coming out in a weird, stretched-out shape, so I decided to cap it at "cat blanket" size and start again (since I had a pretty good idea what went wrong, in part due to simultaneously working on another crochet blanket at the same time).
This is 900+ yards (825+ meters) of yarn, done up in 4.25mm stitches. I've decided that attempt #2 would be 5mm so that I could get it going a bit faster, but yarn isn't a problem. I have 1000s of yards of the same exact yarn probably, all snatched up from a thrift store (bc I am poor and over ⅔ of my stash is thrift yarn). I'm actually tempted to do the math and find out how much of this yarn I actually have lol. (Stay tuned? Maybe?)
Anyway, the cats love it, which makes it worth it, and I got the dopamine rush of finishing something as well as the dopamine rush of starting something new, which is great.

Contemplating making a temperature blanket next year, even though everything I’ve seen a bout temperature blankets had said to not make a temperature blanket.

Currently making a Spider-Man mask!! I’m going to re do the webbing though because it looks bad and because I got the back of the head wrong.
I’m also going to get some red fabric to put over the nose so you can’t see my skin
Hopefully it won’t look so bad when I’m done!

I recently came across this 70s gem in a used bookstore whilst visiting Portland (yes it was Powells - I also snagged a jean jacket at the store across the street that will soon become a vest). Obviously I am not going to pass up the opportunity to crochet a stetson hat, so it came home with me.
Hard Crochet isn't exactly magical, just very tight and using the right yarn. So I start to plan yet another WIP and the author lists the secret ingredient: carpet yarn. But not just any "rug yarn", 70-30 acrylic-modacrylic yarn. He got his as mill ends from a long defunct US carpet plant in my very own state (thanks so much for killing American industry, Nixon, Reagan et al.). But good luck finding that now.
Indeed, this forum (blessed forums, how I miss you) outlines the problem. Modacrylic in particular behaves like wool in that it can "felt", so that is a necessary component. Finding a substitute is going to be a challenge.
So I guess these projects go on the back burner...

So I'm trying to crochet an elephant, I'm following a pattern I SWEAR - but I'm losing faith. I don't ... Um .... I don't LOVE the shape it's taking on at the current moment..........

Hey crochet friends I have carpal tunnel in my right wrist and it’s getting worse, I did a lot of work last night and have not been able to use my hand at all today. How can I hold my yarn in a way the doesn’t kill my wrist?
