I've been noticing for a while that there's a difference between what edgelords call "cringe" and actual cringy behavior so i made a chart

"Abolish cringe culture!" until it's band/art/choir/drama kids, moms on TikTok, people on dating apps, adults without jobs, adults that still live with their parents, kids using internet slang, beginner artists (in music and drawing), awkward texters, people with bad hygiene, fans of popular media, the list goes on.
Cringe culture isn't just about fandom culture, or people that use terms like XD and rawr. It's about making fun of a group of people that isn't actively doing harm solely because you deem them "embarrassing". Don't say you dislike cringe culture if you stop at what YOU deem as cringe. Normalize doing whatever you want on the internet, as long as it's not hurting anybody there's no reason for you to be made fun of for it.

Cringepunk
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cringepunk - A movement involving the reclaimation of the word "cringe" and basically being "cringe" just out of pure spite, and embracing being cringeworthy and basically not giving a fuck about what others think. Basically a way of saying "Fuck you. I'm cringe and I'm proud of it. I don't need to be your definition of "normal". This was made with neurodivergent individuals, MOGAI/LIOM/LGBTQ+ individuals (including folks who use xenogenders), neopronoun/nounself pronoun/emojiself pronoun users and alterhumans in mind. However, you don't have to be any of those things to be Cringepunk! While this term is meant to be anti-cringe culture and anti-harassment, we still want to make it clear that it does not support harmful identities and communities. Likewise, it will not tolerate exclusionism of harmless identities or misinformation. In particular, Cringepunk is: Pro-Contradictory Labels. Pro-Endogenic. Pro-MOGAI. Pro-Self Diagnosis with research. Pro-Alterhumanity. Pro-KFF. Inclusive of people of all disabilities, including people with personality disorders, schizophrenia and DID. Inclusive of all religions. Inclusive of POC. Anti-Radfem. Anti-Fakeclaiming. Anti-TransID. Anti-Discourse of any kind. Anti-Fetishization of Pedophilia or Incest. Anti-thinspo and anti-fatphobia. Basically, Cringepunk supports expressing yourself in harmless ways, but is against anything that could genuinely harm others. Flag meanings: Dark Blue - Alterhumanity. This stripe represents alterhumans, especially otherkin. Light Blue - Plurality. This stripe represents systems of ALL origins, including endogenic. Green - Queerness. This refers to the entire LGBTQ+/MOGAI community, including mspec lesbians/gays, intersex individuals, non-monogamous individuals, aspec individuals, individuals who use xenogenders and many more. Light green - Gender non-conformity and pronoun non-conformity. This refers to individuals who present differently then their given gender. In addition, this also refers to individuals who use pronouns that differ from their given gender, including neopronoun users, nounself pronoun users and emojiself pronoun users, as well as he/him lesbians, she/her gays and they/them and neopronoun gays and lesbians. Gray represents being cringe and proud /pos. Yellow represents aldernic individuals. Orange represents those currently questioning their sexuality, gender, or if they're alterhuman, plural or neurodivergent. Light red represents neurodivergency. This one I find incredibly important, as cringe culture has harmed several neurodivergent folks (especially autistics). Dark red represents community, which includes MOGAI individuals, neopronoun users, aldernic individuals, alterhumans, systems, and anyone else who might be considered "cringe (such as furries). The symbol represents challenging cringe culture and tearing it down. Image IDs: Two pride flags. Both have shades of blue and green, yellow, orange and shades of red. The middle of both flags are dark gray. The top flag has an infinity symbol interlocking with a circle. (Tags are for reach and filtering purposes)
Tumblr media
Image ID: A blue banner with red, orange and yellow flowers around it. On it is a warning sign with text underneath. The text reads "PLEASE READ PINNED POST BEFORE INTERACTING"

cringe culture sucks bootycheeks and here's why!!!
Honestly I think the absolute dumbest argument in favor of cringe culture I see is people actually claiming it's healthy??? like what??? Being in absolute denial that you enjoyed something in the past or in the present just because other people dislike it and blatantly bully people because of it is- just glamorized self-hatred. Your interests are a part of you whether you like it or not. The best way to deal with that is to acceptance! Isn't acceptance always a good way to cope? I thought that was common sense. I just watched the first 4 episodes of Hazbin Hotel, and despite what people who DIDN'T EVEN WATCH IT think, I'm letting everyone know that I like it! Why? Because expressing my interests makes me happy! I know that a lot of people don't like Vivziepop, which is 100% understandable, but just because you don't like her work doesn't mean you should make other people who like it stray away from the things they like. Trust me I was literally told to kms because of a drawing of an undertale character that my friend gave me when I was 11 and that effected my mental health greatly. Not to mention I'm an autistic person and undertale happened to be a BIG PART of my life and who I am now so it genuinely felt like a personal attack. In conclusion, cringe culture, no matter what form it takes, isn't good!!! You should take pride in yourself AND your interests!!! Don't shame other people for their (harmless) interests, either!!!

I used to stand alone as a kid against “cringe culture” and I’m glad now how many people I see that are actually supportive of different kinds of people out there.

Follow up post to my last rb, but i hate when your talking to someone abt someone who falls into the “cringe” category (by no means is this me supporting putting down “cringe” people btw cringe is a stupid made up concept), and the person makes all the points you were making about the person about them being cringe. Like i was talking to a kid about a girl, and the girl could be classified as “cringe” she dressed more punk/alt and was bi and a theatre kid. However what i was complaining about was that she tried to get away with throwing a coffee at my friend’s car. And the kid i was talking to say stuff like “oh yeah theatre kids are so annoying” or “its cus shes gay” or “yeah punk people think they can do anything cus punk is supposed to be disruptive”. Like no she did that because she’s rude and disrespectful not cus shes gay, punk, or a theatre kid.

I probably don't need to post this but just in case anyone was wondering where I stood on the matter: I am very firm in my opinion that it's not okay to morally judge someone solely for what media they like. Yes, even THAT media I'm sure you just thought of as the exception.
Here's the thing. Not everything I'm a fan of adheres to my moral code - sometimes to the extent that I find scenes in them pretty repulsive. But that's not a contradiction to my morals because, amazingly, enjoying media isn't a moral action. You can't hurt someone by liking something.
I also don't think that spending money on that thing you like is a moral action, either. It's totally fine if you don't want to support a creator because you disagree with their stance on something important, but it's unfair to enforce that same standard onto everyone else who just wants a keychain or something. You can't hurt someone by owning media or merchandise, either.
I don't care if that thing you like has stuff in it that's misogynistic, or racist, or transphobic. I DO care if you're actually being any of those things to Real People, in Real Life.
For as much as people denounce cringe culture online, there always seems to be that one exception where they've decided "THIS one is too far, though." And because everyone has a different standard for what counts as "too far," nothing actually changes, and people still feel like they have to be ashamed of liking the things they do in order to be a Good Person.
But being a good person has nothing to do with how much shame you feel. It has everything to do with how you treat others, and policing random people on what you've personally decided is unacceptable to enjoy isn't what I'd call a good way to treat others.
Anyway, I just wanted to get that out there, partly for my own catharsis and partly for anyone who maybe needed to hear it right now. Keep on liking the stuff you like, and block anyone who tries to make you feel bad for it

why? bc mlp is considered "cringe" and ""childish"" when in reality it's a super cool show that super cool ppl like
btw this goes up to size 16! if you are larger than size 16, wear a gir hoodie, pikachu hoodie, skelanimals hoodie, anything with bright/dark colorz and is stereotypically "cringe"
ALSO ESPECIALLY IF UR AN ADULT TOO BC FOR SOME REASON:
Maturing is seen as giving up things u liked as a kid when in reality it means having morals and stuff.

i have been having a Day /neg and in one of my classes my group mates (who do NO work btw) literally just sat there and watched a cringe compilation?? with like therians and furries and that one otherkin elf dude and a did system and like. okay man !!! i hope you’re having fun because you just seem pathetic. you will wish you weren’t so insecure and nettled by things other people do that affect no one. also the people in those videos don’t. care? like. to a point it’s annoying but after that you’re just kind of like okay !! feel and say whatever you want about me but i’ve judged my own morals and so have the people important to me and i see nothing wrong with what i’m doing. there’s nothing to be gained from making fun of innocent people, even if you think they’re weird or annoying or faking. i don’t care. they are hurting no one. someday you’re gonna look back on your life and wonder why you were so hollow and unimpressed and disgusted with everything. you will wish you had a real personality back then.

Once you get rid of your cringe and disgust for things you don’t like/understand then suddenly the world becomes a nicer, you become less angry and more empathetic and you can focus your ire on the things that really matter
I don’t understand all the identities and nuances of the LGBT+ umbrella, I find some things silly and cringe, and really don’t care, I don’t care about furries or leather daddies at pride or an amab person of any gender presentation wants to call themselves a lesbian.
The weirdos of the world are not the ones that will harm you, the harm will come from the same people who seek to oppress you, who will hold any accepted on the grounds that you act the way they want you too.
When you cultivate the mean part of yourself that laughs and spends time hating on those who do you no harm it clouds your judgement, you become convinced the people not practicing queerness or life the way you would are the enemy
i’ve been thinking a lot about terfs/gc’s lately. It always starts with vauge “reasonable” notions yet appears to devolve into nothing but obsessing over the minute details of people’s appearances and saying awful things and whipping each other up in a frenzy of disgust and contempt. There are people whomst i find detestable and even i don’t do that. You look at the big name terfs and that’s all they seem to do. It’s all about obsessing over this small portion of the population with no regard to the cis women who are harmed by the logical conclusion of their beliefs…the cis women they claim to protect

Did another batch of these “hysteric fanart” pieces. They’re definitely more intense than the first batch lol sorry but that’s just the magic of the internet the magic it produces with its finger from an unknown hole of many implications 🤪

Fuck anyone who calls things "cringe". Full offense and then some.
If your reaction to something "weird" is to judge people for it, fuck you.
They're not disgusting for being a furry, acting like an anime character, or being "millenialcore". You're disgusting for thinking they are.

Guys we should take cringe culture, own it, and then reverse it so it goes against the people who invented it.
"You harass people for making weird/embarrassing content? Cringe 🙄 "
"You bully people for making sonic oc's, ponysonas, fursonas, ect? God that's so cringe dude <3 "
"You laugh at people on the internet for being themselves? That's so cringey bro 😔 "
