Jungle filled with conures. This was an assignment from college and one of the first pieces I made using the technique of scanning my pencil illustrations and coloring them without any inks. I drew a lot of birds at Ringling.
I just spend $170 on bird toys for my five (yes five) birds. I swear I spend more money on these babies than myself, and honestly I’m okay with that. Lemme know if y’all want me to post photos of the haul once it arrives!
i have two tiers of like favourite birds:
tier 1 is like the "i feel okay keeping these birds because i feel confident i can give them a quality life in captivity"
and even though i'm a very happy cockatiel owener, i prefer conures.
Green cheeks are my main frame of reference but i'm also REALLY interested in crimson bellies.
they're a totally difference species of conure so i held off getting one because i was looking for a mate/friend for yoshi but now that he's got one in his own species i may actually be interested in a crimson down the line.
Conures are just silly little creatures. they're chatty little wrestlers and very affectionate and empathetic.
They're also incredibly smart and excellent mimics.
I like how they're also very acrobatic because they're so good and strong with their feet.
They can climb very well and hang upside down.
They also eat with their feet.
i also love how many different colour mutations GCC's have and actually just the whole conure family has such a diverse amount of birds.
i love them
my second tier is like the opposite of the first one and it's the sulphur crested cockatoo.
Not only are they gorgeous birds but they're so freaking smart.
they are puzzle solvers and very good with tools and things of that nature.
i love how low key chaotic they are too.
love seeing videos of them having stole food out of bins and stuff like that.
i follow this channel from this like engineer guy who makes puzzles for the wild cockatoos that come out to his window and it's so cool seeing how inquisitive they are and how they'll actually take the time to solve puzzles and stuff, though they do try to brute force them sometimes because they can.
love love love a cockatoo but i would feel awful keeping such a big bird in my house.
it seems wrong.
There are SO MANY side characters I never made a design for in the mobird psycho AU and there are so many possibilities. Silkie rooster Mitsura. Java finch Shiratori brothers. Bobwhite quail Shinra. Black turkey Jodo. Jardine parrot Mogami. Crimson-bellied conure Roshuto. I have to draw them all.
The world’s most friendly parrot, but the biggest personality. These smart yet magnificent birds make great companions and good entertainment. They are not budgies, and are thought to be descendants of the Amazon. Parrot have a pleasant chirp, and have the ability to learn speech. They are considered one of the easiest birds to care for and feed. They are enthusiastically referred to as Pocket Parrots.
