Crescent Rolls Apple Wedges
Makes 16
These are rather delicious. It is a great combination of crescent rolls, apples, sugar-cinnamon butter, and a citrus soda. Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or cold.
Ingredients
2 large baking apples
2 cans of refrigerated crescent roll dough (8 rolls per can)
1 cup butter (2 sticks)
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
12 ounces of a citrus soda like Mountain Dew
Directions:
Peel and core the apples. Cut each apple into 8 equal in size pieces. You can also use an apple cutter utensil which cores and slices the apples into 8 equal pieces. Put the apple pieces into a bowl of water so they don’t turn brown before you are able to use them.
Preheat the oven to 350° and spray a 9x13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
The crescent roll dough usually comes pre-notched into triangles. Separate the pieces. Roll each apple piece in the dough starting from the small end. Make sure the apple pieces are completely covered with the dough before putting them in the baking dish. Pinch and pull the dough to ensure each apple piece is covered.
Place the butter to melt in a medium-sized microwave-safe bowl or put the butter into a saucepan to melt. Use low heat in the microwave or on the stove.
Once the butter is melted add the sugar and cinnamon into the bowl or saucepan and stir until they are combined. Pour over the crescent rolls in the dish. Then pour the soda.
Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown.
Note:
There are many kinds of baking apples to choose from. They range from Mcintosh apples which are very tender to other apples which are firmer and hold their shape when they are baked.
