You know, I haven’t really seen that many stories of crazy Carl taking in A mobian beside maybe one story so here my take. Although my first choice for mobian that crazy Carl would take in would be sticks for obvious reasons but since Amy is more likely to be in the films (hopefully), then sticks, I’m gonna go with her.(maybe he could adopt sticks too)
Context:
Since everyone knows about Sonic, plus the gang, Tom has insisted that Carl take down any traps he still has in the forest. Carl begrudgingly agrees to take down the more dangerous traps he placed. Despite him still being a little salty That Sonic drove him crazy for years trying to expose sonic and his paranoia of something else being out there he doesn’t want to risk hurting the blue little guy or his friends.
During one of his late night searches for the last of his traps, he discovers that he was right that something else was out there. Unfortunately, that something got injured in one of his traps. Another hedgehog like sonic but pink and a girl.
Feeling extremely guilty he decides to take in the pink hedgehog just until she’s healed up. Carl carefully releases the pink hedgehog from the trap and patches her up until tomorrow so he can take her to Maddie(who proceeds to chew him out the next day).
Over time they develop a genuine bond between each (they have a grandpa and granddaughter relationship ) despite Amy later learning the trap was Carl’s.
Carl goes from “she’s just staying until she heals up” to “ if anything happens to her, I will kill everyone in this room, and then myself.”
Maybe after a couple of weeks Maddie and Carl deems she ready enough to meet Sonic and the gang since Amy has healed up enough, and she’s less skittish compared to day one. Ever since Maddie told Sonic about the other hedgehog, he's been dying to meet her. Unfortunately for him living with crazy Carl her idea of the blue devil has been secured a bit. So while Amy greets tails and knuckles with warmness and kindness she greets sonic with the cold shoulder.
She tells him that she doesn’t like hedgehogs, who like to bully poor old men. Turns out, Amy wasn’t too fond of finding out that Sonic has been messing with Carl for years to the point that the whole town thought he was crazy. Sonic tries to convince her otherwise, but Amy isn’t having it.
Cue Carl wheezing in the background, while Sonic begs Carl to clear things up with Amy.
Thankfully Carl decides to clear things up after letting sonic squirm for a bit (revenge).
Amy is a bit nicer to him after that but she warns him not to mess with her gramps.

Under the Moonlight - Part 1 - Legend of Dark Gaia
WHO'S HUNGRY FOR SOME WACHOWSKI HALLOWEEN STORIES?? (I am at least XD)
THIS STORY IS VERY LONG BUT WILL BE IN PARTS SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT.
Quick note: This story takes place before the sequel. Any Sonic Movie story I write like this one will be a pre-sequel story.
After a long, fun night of trick or treating, Sonic was about to head home, but came across an old friend. He thought he wanted to get some ghost stories out of him, but he was not expecting to hear something so... Nightmarish.
-
Orange, red and yellow of the leaves slowly rain down to the neighborhood in Green Hills. Sundown is completely gone, all is left is the light of the moon in the dark sky, lurking behind the almost leaf-free trees.
Children and teens of all kinds ran down the sidewalks, most on the roads, to hurry to the next houses for more of the sweet, sugary goodness that is Halloween candy.
The best kind of candy.
One group of kids come across a small house, the front lawn decorated with fake tombstones and funny looking skeletons, which appeared to be dancing by the tree.
And the door already greets them with such a, not-so threatening message: "Knock, if you dare."
One younger kid, who is dressed up as a cowgirl, rings the doorbell, and raises her small blue pumpkin bucket up high before the door opens. So did the rest of the group.
One other kid in the center of the group comes up front, the kid being Sonic, wearing a black cape with worn out gloves with "blood stains" on the tips of his fingers. He was sporting fake fangs and has red makeup drizzled down from his mouth.
He thought a vampire was the best choice for his first Halloween costume.
The door opens, revealing a young man holding an purple bowl, with drawings of spider webs going around it. The bowl was half empty, but it contained chocolates of all kinds, from milk chocolate, to peanut butter, to caramel.
"Trick or treat!" The group exclaimed, holding out their buckets and bags full of candy. "Hey, cool costumes, you guys!" They said, grabbing handfuls of chocolates and gave them to each kid.
"You guys look reeeaaal spooky, tonight. Especially you, Johnny, super scary!" They chuckled, complimenting the young boy wearing an iconic Pennywise outfit.
"What about me?" Sonic asked, being handed with a few candy bars. "Do I look spooky too?"
"Oh, yeah! You look spooky, alright! Awesome costume, Sonic!" They said.
Sonic slightly pumps his fists and quietly exclaimed, "Yes!"
In no time, all the kids got their chocolates and walked off, waving goodbye to the man. "Happy Halloween!" They all said.
Sonic also waved goodbye before leaving. "Thank you! And Happy Halloweeeeeeeeen!" He said in a spooky tone, clawing his hands before almost dropping his bucket. He giggled and ran off. "You too!" They said before closing the door.
Sonic approached Tom, with a huge smile on his face. "This night is AWESOME! I got SO much candy so far! Check it out!" He then shows off his pumpkin shaped bucket which was filled to the brim with lots of different candies.
"I got chocolates candies, sour candies, even bubble gum! And that's not even half of what I got!" He shrieked with joy, looking inside his bucket. "I know I said this a hundred times already, but, I LOVE HALLOWEEN!!"
"I know." The sheriff said, also smiling. He couldn't get enough of seeing this small hedgehog being happy over this night. "And you actually said it 17 times tonight."
"You counted?"
"Of course I did."
"...Nah, it wasn't too much."
"Right."
The vampire hedgehog then switched his bucket to his other hand, as his fingers were getting sore from the heavy bucket. "Ouch..." He then moved his fingers a little bit to give them more circulation.
"Alright! On to the next house!" He said, as he was about to run off when suddenly the Donut Lord held him by the arm. "Whoa, there! Hang on." He spoke.
"What, what? What is it? Why are we stopping?" Sonic said, getting eager and a little bit impatient to wait before heading to another house. Even his knees were bouncing non stop.
"It's almost eight o'clock." Tom looked at his phone. The clock was just a few minutes until eight. "And??" Sonic placed his gloved hand on his hip.
"It's getting late, and the day is almost over. It's time for us to head home, bud." Tom said, almost regretting saying that, considering how much fun Sonic has been having.
And he called it, as Sonic's ears flopped down and he just looked almost devastated. "What? Already?! Aw, come on!" He whined, kicking the ground. "Halloween can't be over yet! Can we go trick or treating for a few more minutes?? Please????" He cupped his hands together, pleading.
"Sorry, but we can't stay out here too late. Halloween is over til next year." He patted his head, hoping that information will calm him down.
He knew it wouldn't work, but it was worth a shot.
"I can't wait until next year. This is my first ever Halloween with you, Tom." He said sadly, looking at the ground. "I was having so much fun..."
"Hey, it's alright. Don't be sad because it's over. Be happy that it happened!" Tom placed his hand on Sonic's shoulder. "I was having fun too, and trust me, next year will be even more fun, and even more spooooookyyyyy!" Tom wiggled his fingers at the hedgehog, trying to look intimidating, but Sonic laughed at the sight.
At least that cheered him up.
"Haha! You're right! Next year will be even better than this one! I already have plans for my next costume!" He said, giggling, and looking all better already.
"Well, that was fast." Tom said, walking along with Sonic. "Duh, that's what I'm known for." Sonic jokingly boasted, catching up to him.
"I'll give you a hint: BRRAAAAIINNS!!" Sonic roared, reaching his hands out and walking slowly and weakly like a zombie.
"Oh, boy. I wonder what it could be..." Tom taps his chin with his finger, pretending to think really hard on what this costume could be.
"I'm gonna go all out on that costume next year! Just you wait!" He beamed up a confident smile, thinking on how his zombie costume will look.
Maddie was the one who helped out his costume, and even buying an extra pair of gloves to make it look better. He knows that she can make a great zombie costume.
"Why not a zombot? That's more iconic."
"Ehhhh, I'm good." He chuckled nervously. "I'll just stick to old school, thank you very much."
Sonic cringed at the memory of his first horror movie night with Tom, Maddie and Wade. It was just gonna be the three of them, but the moment Sonic over heard them say "horror," he couldn't take no for an answer.
He wished he did though. He wasn't expecting Night of The Zombots to be so... Gory.
At least Nicholas Cage looked pretty badass in the film.
"And I thought Poltergeist was freaking scary..." He mumbled to himself.
"I heard that."
"The movie wasn't that scary! Besides, you can tell the CGI was fake even from the first viewing!" He crossed his arms, trying to act tough.
"It was from the 2000s, it was the first Visual Effects movie Studiopolis Productions worked on." Tom stated.
"Whatever."
"You should see the remake. It's twice as scary." Tom teased.
"Oh, God, there's a remake?!" Sonic squealed with concern.
And he blinked. "Uh, I mean, I bet that movie also sucked."
"Hey, now." Donut Lord said, kneeling down to Sonic's level. "Don't hide the fact that the movie made you feel uncomfortable, alright? You even admitted it yourself that night."
"I'm just not used to expressing myself, dude. You know that."
"I do know that, but I'm here to remind that your feelings matter, okay?"
"...I knew that." He smile crept on his muzzle.
"Okay, let's head home." Tom continued walking off with Sonic alongside, bucket still in his hand. Sonic watched all the kids and teens in different costumes roaming the streets. He felt sad at first, but smiled once again knowing that he'll be able to do this all over again next year.
He really does love Halloween.
-
"Finally, we made it home." Tom sighed, happy to see his house. Sonic didn't even knew that the house was close by cause his mind was elsewhere. "Already? Geez."
"What's up, buddy?"
"Didn't you see that one house that was covered in egg yolk a few minutes ago??" He points behind him.
"Ahh, must've been Karen and Issac's little trick." Tom barked slightly. The young teens are pretty rebellious, and not in a good way. They get in trouble in school more times than anyone else in town, and sometimes draw nasty messages on buildings.
And to make them worse, they despise Sonic, even though he saved the town not too long ago.
They always call him dumb nicknames like "man-hog" or "blue rat." Sonic always hated "man-hog" the most.
But he brushed them off, he knew they were just jealous because he's the one who saved the town from Robotnik. But, of course, Issac and Karen are a total pain to not just Sonic, but to the majority of Green Hills.
Especially Wade.
"...Oh." Sonic just now realized who that house belonged to. "Poor Wade..."
"That's the third Halloween in a row." Tom shook his head.
"I hope it's easy to clean off."
"Trust me, it was not." He knew from experience.
Sonic was able to see his house from a distance, and he can already see his own fake tombstones and other spooky decorations and fake webs swaying in the gentle wind.
He smiled, excited to show Maddie all the candy he got tonight.
He was about to move forward but then suddenly notice a bright light from within the forest far from the house. It drove his attention away from the house and idea of heading back home.
What was that just now? He thought, looking behind him and looking closely into the woods.
Nothing else was happening. The light didn't even appear again. Maybe it was just his imagination?
"Hmm..."
"Buddy?" Tom called out, just realizing that Sonic stopped walking and is now ahead of him. "I, uh... I'll be right back." Sonic said, zooming straight into the forest, along with his bucket of candy.
"Sonic?!" Tom cried out. "Where are you going??" Sonic was already gone by the time he finished his question.
-
Sonic continued walking through the woods searching for the source of the light that went by earlier. He had ideas on what that was.
A car driving by? Perhaps.
Some guy wearing a super bright costume? Maybe...
A firefly? ...Yeah, no. That's not it.
"Hello?" Sonic called out. "Anybody out here?"
There was no response, but he kept searching anyway.
He came to a halt however, when he suddenly saw the light peaking through the trees. It's the same one from before. He found it!
Sonic zipped straight to the source, only to find...
"An RV?" Sonic looked around it, realizing how familiar it looked. "Hey... This is-"
"Blue Devil!"
A voice cried out, making Sonic jumped and dropped his bucket, pouring out candy onto the ground. "My candy!" He panicked, grabbing them back to the bucket quickly. "Nonononono..."
"Ahh, didn't mean to frighten ya." The voice spoke from close by. Sonic, while he was still putting candy back, looked up to see none other than Carl putting away his things into the RV. It was hard to tell, but he had a small smile behind that bushy beard of his.
"Crazy Carl! it's been a while, old pal! I thought you were at Spring Valley?" Sonic said, picking back up his bucket, all the candy back inside.
"Ah just wanna pay a little visit before ah head back." He spoke. "Maybe sometime the next day I should give the sheriff a good ol' visit and-" Carl was then distracted by Sonic's costume. "That's a... Interesting outfit ya have there."
"Like it? I'm a vampire!" Sonic said, clawing his gloved hands, looking spooky. "BLEECH!"
Carl was unamused. "Ya call that scary? How is a vampire scary?"
"You don't like it? ...Rude."
"It's called an 'honest opinion,' ya Blue Devil. Ah've seen scarier things than a vampire out of all things."
"Oh?" Sonic raised a brow from that statement. "Knowing you, and considering the time of year," Sonic's smile grew wider, in love with the sudden idea that just popped into his head. "Perhaps maybe you should... Oh, I don't know..."
"What? Spit it out, already." Carl demanded calmly.
"Heheh." This is gonna be good.
"Carl, you must've seen and heard about a lot of interesting stories in your life. I would love to know these stories and why they are so much more scarier than vampires." Sonic placed down his bucket on the ground in front of his feet.
"Well now, you better be takin' these stories seriously. These aren't just like those phony ghost stories the children often tell." Carl began. "These are real. Very much real." He said, in the coldest tone possible.
"In that case, enough stalling. What story do you have in mind, buddy ol' pal?" He crossed his arms, ready to hear some of Crazy Carl's tales. "Please, make me shudder in fear." He "pleaded."
"If that's what ya truly want..."
Sonic then grabbed his bucket closer to him as he sat down to the closest log. He kicked his feet slightly, eager to hear this spooky story.
"Now, this tale is even older than I am. Passed down from generation to generation in this very part of the woods. It's well known back in Spring Valley, but most parts of your town was effected by it as well." He began.
"'It?' Who, or what, is 'it?'"
"Dark Gaia."
The hedgehog's eyes grew with fascination. "Dark Gaia? You mean like... Gaia as in Earth? I think Maddie taught me about that one-"
"Blue Devil, don't interrupt."
"Sorry, haha. I'll stay quiet."
"Anyways," Carl continued his story.
"The legend of Dark Gaia came from an incident that happened a few hundred years ago, just after Green Hills was founded. Dark Gaia itself was a large, dark being unlike any creature. Horror beyond comprehension."
"Like a being from hell."
"Sheesh..." Sonic said to himself. He continued to listen to Carl's story.
"The creature never dares to come out from the Earth, only it's energy and it's vile minions called Nightmares. It's Dark Gaia energy is an, almost invisible like smoke, that roams the woods, searching for their new Nightmare for the Dark Gaia."
"The Nightmares are big beings, their bodies have glowing auras that even the blindest of critters can see. They have blue and red marking on their shoulders and face, and their number one priority? Consume a living, breathing being's soul, to help them become stronger."
The hedgehog is super intrigued, if not, creeped out. Maybe it's both.
"You ever come across a Nightmare, that's it. You can't escape 'em. The moment they see you, that's the end of your story. Never to be seen or heard of again. Thankfully, it's been too long since a Nightmare has been spotted, but the Dark Gaia's energy still roams about the forest of Spring Valley and most of Green Hills."
Sonic looked around a bit, searching for anything strange like the energy Carl was talking about, but he continued listening.
"Three young men wanted to explore Spring Valley, and perhaps find something valuable along the way. It was a full moon that night. Just like tonight."
Sonic looked up at the dark sky, and there it was. The moon, full and bright. He felt a cold sweat. He looked back at Carl.
"Dark Gaia's energy, including the Nightmares, only appears during a full moon. They can't roam around in broad daylight, and only appear during the midnight hour. The moon will glow a light shade of purple once the time comes, and the young men made a grim mistake that faithful night."
"Dark Gaia energy sometimes seeks through the ground, escaping the Earth to finds it's new minion. Once it does, you better get your butt out of there woods, unfortunately for the men, they didn't follow that rule."
"One fella felt strange just after a few minutes of being in the woods. He ignored the raging feeling of Dark Gaia's energy, infesting his brain with feral thoughts, thoughts filled with rage and hunger."
"It wasn't too long before his friends come across him on the ground, in pain, the Dark Gaia energy unleashing from his body, completely transforming him into something awful."
"He was partiality a Dark Gaia creature, fur purple, with a hint of a darker blue. He was bigger, and more muscle than he was before. He's grown sharp claws, and his teeth have grown sharper as well. He's was a half complete monster."
Sonic lets out a small gasp.
"He was still himself, but the feral thoughts kept trying to reach out, begging him to rip his friends to shreds and join Dark Gaia. Legends also says however, that there is a way to rid of the Dark Gaia's energy from your body, and bring you back."
"It was the Light Gaia's bracelet, hidden somewhere in Green Hills. But from where they are, Green Hills was too far, and the moment they reached their destination, it was too late. His feral instincts took over and one of his friends... Never made it alive."
Sonic's eyes grew in horror. "Wh... What about-?"
"The other was fine. ...For a while. When the infested friend attacked him, some of Dark Gaia's energy went inside of him. When the sun came up, the beast disappeared into the woods and was ascended into the Earth, forever one with Dark Gaia, never to be cured."
"And soon will be his friend the next full moon. For now, it was just him and his inner thoughts haunting him for days. No one in town believed him when he told them everything. Some folks venture into the woods to see what the commotion was about."
"Last mistake they ever made in their lives..."
Sonic covered his mouth slightly.
"Dark Gaia's energy is still out here somewhere, hundreds and hundreds of years later. It's been a long time since the Dark Gaia found it's new minions, but I highly doubt Dark Gaia will give up."
Crazy Carl lets out a long exhausted sigh.
"I believe it is impossible to avoid Dark Gaia, but that doesn't mean it's impossible to rid of it. That is, if Light Gaia's bracelet is found, of course. Many folks were unlucky to come across a Nightmare, but becoming one is the worst of all."
"No one knows, not even Dark Gaia itself, knows who the next victim will be. I might be the town's sheriff."
Sonic's eyes grew more.
"Or maybe the deputy, Whipple."
They grew again.
"Or maybe even me."
Sonic held his own hand, wanting Carl to stop talking already.
Carl's brow furrowed. "Or maybe..." Carl then stared right at the blue hedgehog. "Maybe..."
Sonic gasped again.
"It might..."
Sonic felt a cold chill in the air.
"Be..."
Could it be...?
"Sonic??" A voice called out.
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
Both Tom and Crazy Carl both jumped at Sonic's sudden cry of terror. He breathed rather quickly, his mind still on the Dark Gaia story. Carl was slightly surprised to see Sonic like that.
"Ya didn't have to take it that seriously."
Tom looked over to see Carl. It all makes sense now. "Ah... Carl. It's been a while." He spoke flatly. "What are you doing out here?"
"Visiting." He responded. "Your Blue Devil here come up out here wanting to say 'hi.'"
Tom looked to see the hedgehog turning around to see his best friend. "Tom!" He cried and ran up to him, jumping up to give him a big hug. "I was looking all over for you, buddy! Why'd you run off?"
"My lights caught his attention."
"Carl, what did you do?" Tom looked back at Crazy Carl, with a stern look in his eyes.
"Reminding him about Dark Gaia. Remember, Wachowski, it's a full moon tonight." Carl warned quietly. "Keep that kid of yours safe. From it."
"...What?"
"Alright, I'm off. Nice seein' ya, ya Blue Devil! You too, sheriff!" He exclaimed before walking back inside the RV. Tom shook his head, not standing the audacity of that guy.
"Ooookay, I'm not sure what the heck just happened, but we're heading back home. Maddie's waiting for us." Tom said, carrying the shaking hedgehog back to the house.
"But Tom! Dark Gaia! What if it's out here?!" Sonic said, looking around the forest frantically. Tom groaned. "Sonic, there's no such thing as Dark Gaia. It's just a silly story made up by some kids a long time ago."
"But Crazy Carl said the story was real!"
"Carl tends to believe in a lot of stupid crap. That's his style. Now don't worry about it."
"Oh, yeah? How about that time when he told you guys about the 'Blue Devil,' which turned out to be real, who by the way, is ME??"
"Well- I- That's different."
"HOW IS THAT DIFFERENT?!"
"Sonic, please, just calm down. Okay? There is no Dark Gaia energy coming to get you. You hear me? You're fine. There is no Dark Gaia energy." Tom reassured, looking at the hedgehog.
Sonic sighed, looking at the ground. "Okay... Fine. I believe you."
"Okay. Good. ...Hey, where's your-?"
"MY BUCKET!"
Sonic jumped back on the ground, looking for his Halloween bucket. "Buddy," Tom spoke. "it's over there." He pointed to the bucket next to the log.
"Uhhh..." Sonic looked at the bucket, then into the abyss that is the woods, where possibly Nightmares and Dark Gaia energy are lurking. "You get it, I'm not going back there."
"For the love of..." Tom massaged the bridge of his nose. "Sonic, there's no Dark Gaia, okay? It's fine, go get your bucket. It'll take you about 0.4 seconds to grab it and head home."
"R-Right. I knew that. I'll just..." Sonic takes one small step. Then stopped.
"...Sonic."
"Right, right, Sorry. I'll get my bucket and..."
He took another step.
And another.
And another.
"Sonic, I promise you, you're okay." Tom said softly.
Sonic inhaled...
Then exhaled.
"I'm not scared. I am not scared.
He quickly grabbed his bucket and ran off screaming, leaving trails of candy behind.
"...Well, that was easy." Tom said to himself.
He began picking up the pieces of candy as he follows down the trail Sonic ran off to.

To be continued...

Finished these chapter 11 doodles for @humanityinahandbag and @samthefrank ‘s amazing story Making Space, which you can read here! The drawing with Knuckles and Tails wasn’t technically a scene, but I couldn’t get the thought of them sick and worried while making missing brother flyers out of my head. Everyone needs to read this story, it’s seriously incredible.

Happy Monday, everyone!!! What better way to start your week than with a brand new chapter!
@samthefrank and I couldn't wait to drop this one after the bombshell we dropped the last two chapters. And as fans of Crazy Carl, we had to fix the last movies mistake and include this gem of a character.

It's a shame Crazy Carl didn't appear in the second movie, I would've loved to see his reaction to seeing two more aliens move into town
Uuiiuujjjyjyjy It totally slipped my mind he wasn't in the 2nd movie. He really should've been in the second!
I hope he at least makes an appearance in third.
I think he would be happy for Sonic finally getting companions that were like him. Because in the Prequill comic, there was a brief interaction he had with Sonic and the hedgehog was sharing his boredom and loneliness with Carl.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's nice to know Carl happens to be the one adult figure Sonic shares his feelings with. He really needed someone to talk to other than his parents.

You know who we need in Sonic 3 when dealing with the government and top-secret projects? Our favorite conspiracy theorist…Cray Carl!
Picture this: with the power of the Ultimate Lifeform to their side, G.U.N. starts a full-on raid on Green Hills. Our heroes are cornered, the unstoppable black hedgehog is about to put an end to them, when suddently...an RV crashes through the wall and hits Shadow. Demanding that they all get inside, is the only man who had spent years preparing for this exact scenario, their savior...

Under the Moonlight - Part 3 - Arguing With Myself (Sort Of)
Read Part 2 if you haven't already - Midnight Hour
TW: Physical fighting
Quick note: This story takes place before the sequel. Any Sonic Movie story I write like this one will be a pre-sequel story.
Appalled by his appearance, he tries to hide in town from Tom and Maddie, but encounters some trouble along the way that brings out the wild side of his new form.
-
The peaceful quiet in the streets of Sonic's neighborhood would last for long if it weren't for two things; a shrieking stray cat and a hyperactive dark blue beast chasing it down on all fours.
"Where are you going? Come back, kitty!" The raspy voice cried out, almost running out of breath, trying to catch up to the fuzzy tabby stray.
Why is the cat running away? He didn't do anything wrong. He just wants to play with the little kitty.
He kept running, playfully pleading the cat to stay, but it was no use. "I didn't mean to scare ya, I just wanna- *GASP*"
Suddenly, coming back to his senses, the hedgehog-wolf like creature screeched to a halt and nearly tumbled onto the ground, landing on his face. "...Ow." A voice muffled on the concrete.
The stray turned back around to see this hairy looking thing get back up on his feet. Or, at least tried to, but he stumbled, losing balance almost every second. He shook off the pain though when he noticed the cat looking right at him.
It hissed at him, which startled him at first, as if it was telling him to scram before running off down the sidewalk and right into the woods.
"Huh? Hey, wait!" Sonic reached out to the cat that already disappeared but then noticed something incredibly off.
His hand. And his arm! It's a darker shade than his usual blue fur. And his hands, they look massive! The claws even look sharp too.
"What...?" He looked all over himself, from his body, to his quills, to his feet, which most of is showing because of the stretched out socks.
"What's happened to my body?" He asked out loud, then he quickly smacked his hand against his mouth in shock, eyes more wide. "What's happened to my VOICE?!" His rough sounding voice cracked on the last word.
His fluffy ears pinned down to his head as worry began to grow. "What the heck is going on? Why do I look like this??" He takes another long look at his monstrous hands, then the rest of his body. He can swore that he was slightly taller even.
He couldn't remember what had happened earlier before this sudden change. The only thing he could remember was that he was getting some water and then his insides were going crazy and then... Nothing.
At least that's what he thought had happened.
"I'm so confused..." He said, looking around to find himself in a familiar neighborhood. It's his own. He blinked, almost remembering the full events that came to this. "Why was I chasing that-? How did I-? Wh- WHAT IS HAPPENING?" He yelled out to no body but himself, begging for a proper answer for all of his questions.
He exhaled exhaustively, lumping his arms to the ground. It's quite surprising that his arms are long enough now for his knuckles to touch the ground.
Talk about a growth spurt.
"I need a mirror." He spoke to himself. He looked out to the opposite direction he was running in, knowing he was not too far from his house. He knew that Tom and Maddie were awake somehow and probably looking for him right now.
Run away.
Sonic shuddered, shaking away the thought of Tom and Maddie finding him as a whole different being. He quickly ran off to the same direction he's been going for a while. Strangely he's not going any more faster than this.
Deal with them later.
-
Eventually, he made it to town. It's so quiet and peaceful, too bad there is a weird looking beast amongst them trying his best to be silent.
He ran behind building to building, hoping that no one will spot him, despite the fact that it's possibly after twelve at this point.
He can't go back to Tom and Maddie, even if he wanted to. Something happened to him, and he knew it wasn't a good thing. He needs a better look at himself.
As he's walking through town, something caught the corner of his eye. A reflection of... Himself?
Is it really himself? Sonic got closer to the window to get a better look. He did gotten taller, but his fur color isn't too different. His hands still look huge, but not so much for his paws.
His quills gotten longer and grew white tips at the end of them, including his ears, which gotten bigger as well. Even his muzzle gotten bigger.
He caught the sight of his tail moving from the reflection. He looked behind him to see that his tail was more fluffy and longer, like a dog's tail. "What the...??"
He looked back at his reflection to notice something else.
His eyes.
The rest of his face didn't change too much, but his eyes... They're so bright.
The emerald green was more like a glowing slime green kind of color, and they look more dilated, as if he looked...
Wild.
Crazy, even.
Taking a good look at himself, he backed away slowly. He held his arm, almost forgetting his hands were big now. This change scared Sonic.
Badly.
He looked nothing like himself. He looked tough. Mean. Horrifying.
While staring at himself, bits of his memory was coming back. He slowly realized how this came to be.
The pain. Oh, God, the pain.
Was that really the power of Dark Gaia back there? This is his Nightmare form?
It's no wonder he was hurting like hell back at the house. It's energy got to him back at the woods when Crazy Carl was telling him that story.
It really was Dark Gaia energy. Dark Gaia is real.
Knowing all the information the came flooding back to him, he was more scared of his new look the longer he looked at his reflection.
That... thing, isn't Sonic. That can't be Sonic. That's not Sonic!
Don't fret.
"WHO?!" He screamed out loud, snapping his head behind him. There was no one. He was the only one in this part of town.
Great, first he turned into a half Nightmare creature, then he's hearing voices.
"Stop talking to me, creepy voice from wherever!" The Werehog barked at nothing. "I'm already having a moment, I don't need you to make it worse for me!"
I am not. I am comforting you.
"Pffft. Yeah, right." He grumbled, rolling his eyes. "Your unsettling impression of a chain smoking Batman voice isn't doing any kinds of comforting, my guy. Just sayin'."
It is best if you don't insult me, Sonic.
"Whooooookay how do you know my name??"
My energy is one with you. It knows everything about you.
"I think you should be more specific on what you mean by-" Sonic stopped himself, just now catching up on what was spoken. "...Your energy?"
Correct. I am Dark Gaia. I am speaking to you beyond the core of your planet as I speak.
Sonic just stood there and blinked multiple times, trying to process what the heck's been happening for the past ten minutes. "Y-You...? Wha...??"
First of all, he didn't know it, or they, can talk, and second they shouldn't be opening their mouths to Sonic out of all people after what they did to him.
"Well, now," He began. "Since you can hear me and all that jazz, can you do me a favor and CHANGE ME BACK TO NORMAL, YOU JERK?!" He roared loud enough for the whole town to hear.
"You can't just fused your weird energy things to anyone they come across! You're just taking away innocent lives! For DECADES!" After letting that out, he exhaled out loud, letting out some steam. Man, he's so ticked off.
You've heard of me.
"That's right." He said, fists clenched. "A pal of mine told me EVERYTHING about you, buddy!" He growled the last word coldly.
That's expected. Others have heard the "tale." They didn't last too long.
"Then why are you doing this if you could, just, pop another of your creatures out into existence instead of just possessing people?!"
I don't believe you understood how my minions work, Sonic. Nightmares, as I call them, were once the unfortunate humans you brought up who fell into my hands. Without the humans, I have no Nightmares to guide me into ruling this planet.
"'Ruling the planet?'" Sonic titled his head slightly at the last words. "Why would you do that??"
I've gone too long being shadowed by the drenched light. The Earth deserves to live in it's true nature; the darkness.
"Ah. So you're an emo. Gotcha."
After the little jester, Sonic's head was suddenly throbbing in intense pain. He cried out and fell to his knees, holding his head. Ringing could be heard.
Once more, it is best if you don't insult me. Unless you want to become a Nightmare before sunrise.
"Ow! Ow, ow! Okay, chill out! Stop it with that! Owww!" Sonic begged through his teeth.
Very well. Let that be a warning to you.
And just like that, the headache was gone, and so was the ringing. Sonic sat down on the pavement trying to catch his breath. "What is your problem, man?! Why me out of all people?! I didn't want any of this!"
Then it was your mistake to step foot into the infested forest. The energy does not leave one's body. It stays there, until the transformation is complete.
"You mean... This is just the beginning of a much bigger, creepier Werehog looking thing?!"
...Werehog?
"Gotta call it somethin'." He shrugged.
Ah. Well, whatever. Call it however you prefer, you are still part Nightmare, and soon, before the sun rises, you will ascend to the core of Earth. With me. As me.
"Fat chance, creep!" He cursed harshly, getting back up on his feet. "I once beat up some robots and kicked a mad doctor's butt! You think you can turn me into a Nightmare... Creature... Thing?!"
Fighting back is the worst mistake you can make if you think you can escape from Dark Gaia. You will never rid of me.
Sonic's ears flick for a second, as he remembered something from the story. "Wait... Yes! Yes I can! I'll find that, that uh, Light Bracelet magic weapon thingy!"
Light Gaia's Bracelet?
"Yeah! That's it!"
Don't make me laugh. No one has ever found that worthless item in centuries. How can you possibly find it when it was never found?
"I'll..." He was gonna fight back but paused. He couldn't help but think that they were right. It hasn't been found. But he swore he remembered Carl saying that the bracelet was sealed somewhere in Green Hills.
"I'll find it somehow. I'll find a way to get back to normal and get rid of you and your energy!" Despite not knowing where it could be, he is still positive on ridding Dark Gaia from him. He won't go down that easily.
It's cute that you believe that you're strong enough to break free of my wrath. May I remind you that even though your transformation isn't fully complete, I can still take control of your mind.
"Well, I'll fight back. You won't win for long."
Perhaps a demonstration is an order.
"What do you- AAGH!!" Sonic screamed in pain as the headache returned in effect, only this time, instead of fighting back the pain, he collapsed on all fours and starting growling, feeling rage and fury build up inside.
When he opens his eyes, they glow bright for a brief moment before Sonic suddenly ran off to a nearby building and ran right through the window, glass shattering everywhere in the bank and outside.
He climbed on top of the counter, ferociously attacking and ripping every computer monitor and paper on the counter. Then he goes for the chairs and rip them to shreds as well.
After a moment of letting out his feral anger, Sonic finally snapped back to reality, eyes now full of fear and confusion. It took him a moment to realize he has a chair in his mouth and quickly spits it out, disgusted by the taste of it.
Sonic. You will be one with Dark Gaia soon. But until then, you must find another batch of future Nightmares, so that way, my army will grow faster.
Sonic growled, but not like from earlier.
Besides, knowing your true power and skill. That Godlike speed of yours... I can use it to my advantage.
"OVER MY DEAD BODY!" He roared, sounding more unhinged and ready for more violence. He cupped his mouth, shocked to hear what just come out of his own mouth.
Don't abuse your anger too much. Even when I'm not in control, the energy can still come out every now and again. Be careful next time.
"I won't let you use my body or my powers to hurt my friends! You gotta be sick and twisted to think of something like that!" He growled, claws already coming out of his hands, ready for another fight with whatever.
That annoying and creepy voice can do nothing but chuckle. Chuckle in a very unsettling, nightmarish way that might've scare Sonic's anger away for a while.
You poor thing. Did you forget how your friends witnessed your transformation?
He blinked.
They were terrified. The weak, little hedgehog they once knew... Gone. Erased from the Earth, for good.
"O-Okay, granted they would be terrified, but..." He stuttered, thinking back on how worried his friends were back at the house when he was in pain.
But what?
He didn't say anything. He would protest, but they have a point. Tom and Maddie would've just ran away from town altogether after seeing him go on a rampage like that. It was already bad enough when he was transformed anyway.
Don't pretend that they'd still stay by your side after what had happened. Why would they protect a monster?
"I-I'm not a-"
You are part Nightmare now. No one will want to befriend a Nightmare. It sounds silly. Don't you think?
His ears pinned down as he think hard on this, and his eyes lowered, looking at the tiles, then his messed up socks ruined by his grown out paws.
Then his hands.
Hands that should belong to a monster.
But the monster... Was Sonic. The monster who almost destroyed a bank. Like some sort of beast ripping open a person. That monster was really him.
He sighed sadly, tears stinging his eyes. "I guess it does..."
They don't need you. Not anymore. But we need them, don't we?
"Wh... What?"
You will guide me to the humans from your home. You will share my energy with them. Make them part of me.
"I-I... NO!" He shrieked. "I don't want to hurt my p-!" He throat got stuck, stopping his sentence to early.
They are not your friends, Sonic. But they will be our new Nightmares very soon.
"I won't let you hurt them." He snarled quiet enough to be heard for the monster.
I won't. You will.
"NO. I. WON'T!!" He screamed as electricity burst out his quills, was light blue now glowing in a eerie light purple. His eyes were glowing again, and he snarled, showing his razor sharp teeth.
That energy. It's so powerful.
So strong.
It feels... Good.
"What in the world??" A voice cried out from outside the bank, snapping Sonic back to reality once again. He turn to see a random civilian shock to see a giant hole in the window and the big mess inside.
The biggest shock? A giant, hairy beast standing in the center, staring right at the man. He yelled out and backed off quickly.
"N-No! Wait!" Sonic said, putting his claws up, trying to reassure the man that he isn't going to hurt him. "This isn't what it looks like-"
"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!" He pointed at the beast.
Sonic gasped and backed off as well, feeling powerless and attacked.
"Oh, my God!"
"Holy crap!"
"What is that thing?!"
"Is that a werewolf?!"
More people came in to see the damage but mostly see this strange creature just standing in the building, surrounding by the mess he made.
Sonic was beginning to panic. He was breathing too fast, as he grabbed his chest, seeing all these humans back away in fear from the sight of him or most of them looking at him in revolt.
He looked like a freak.
Tears began to stream down to his muzzle as more people began to panic and run off. "NO! WAIT! I'M NOT A MONSTER!" He pleaded. "DON'T RUN AWAY!"
Of course, everyone was too afraid to hear the Werehog's cries as they run off out of the part of the town. Sonic ran out of the building through the window he broke. He was beginning to whimper, like a puppy, as stress fill from inside.
"PLEASE! DON'T LEAVE!"
"No freaking way." A familiar high pitched voice spoke out from his right. He turn to see...
Karen and Issac. Those dumb bullies who cause trouble in town. Karen, still sporting the ponytail for her blonde hair and purple shirt and jeans. Issac with his messed up looking hair do and clothes similar to his sister's.
"IS THAT BIGFOOT?!" Issac cried out, pointing at the blue creature. Karen then slapped his nose. "No, it is not Bigfoot, you dope." She hissed. "Take a long look at this dude."
Sonic backed up more. "Karen? Issac? I-I can explain-"
"Noooooooo way." Issac just got the hint. "And I thought your vampire costume was creepy. UUUGH!" He shuddered.
"What the heck happened to you, Man-Hog??" Karen asked, mortified by Sonic's new look.
"It's Dark Gaia! They're real! They're trying to control me and-"
"Dark Gaia? What are you talking about?" She interrupted, going back to her annoying snarky tone. "I am convinced this is what alien hedgehog puberty looks like."
"Huh. Now that you mentioned it..." Issac then said, squinting at the scared Werehog.
"Oh, shut it!" Sonic spit back. "Of course you don't care about the fact that I'm an ACTUAL WEREHOG!"
"Well, whatever that is, it is not pretty for the human eyes." Karen crossed her arms and swung most of her bangs out of the way.
"Dude. We should go. I am NOT going near that thing now!" Issac said, getting behind his big sister. Karen groaned in annoyance. "Chill out, ya big baby. It's not like Sonic Wachowski is gonna pounce on you and rip your head off. He's too much like a puppy than a Werehog." She mocked, looking right at Sonic.
Sonic gasped. His eyes glow bright for a second, feeling fury rising inside him.
"Puppies can bite too, ya know." Issac said.
"Yeah, and they suck at it. Why are you so scared, Issac? Sonic can't do crap to even scratch one of his nasty claws at you."
"Quit it." He barked quietly.
Karen and Issac looked at Sonic. One with worry and the other with an offended look on her face. "What was that, ya blue rat?"
"I think you heard me." He glared right at her, his eyes glowing brighter.
"Ooooooooooh crap we gotta go NOW, Karen." Issac said, preparing to run off.
"Cool your jets, Issac. He's just upset because he finally realized how ugly he is." She said, smiling an ugly, annoying smile.
Sonic was snarling now, wanting this girl to shut up.
"Dawwwww, what's the matter, boy?" She mocked, acting like she's talking to a small dog. "Are you fussy because you didn't get to pway outside?" She said in the excruciating baby talk of all time.
"Pl-Please." Sonic stuttered out, realizing what's happening to him. "Sh-Shut up!" He said, shutting his eyes tight and looking away from the two teens.
"You don't tell me to shut up, Man-Hog!" Karen argued. "No one does! You better take that back or else!" She took a step forward, threatening the poor Werehog.
"Go away...!" He begged harshly.
Stay where you are.
"Oh, that is it." She coldly spoke, gritting her teeth.
Let it out.
Before he could run away, she grabbed Sonic's hairy wrist. "Take. It. Back, you stupid alien!" She hissed, pulling on his ear to get his attention.
"OW! STOP! NO!" He cried, trying to set himself free from this bully's grasp.
Unleash your inner Nightmare.
Sonic opened his eyes right into Karen's soul, like a snake's eye hungry for blood. She then realized her mistake as he growled louder, this time, like an lion ready to kill it's enemy.
And that is exactly what he's gonna do.
With a loud, ferocious roar, he jumped onto of Karen, trying to scratch her. She screamed in horror, trying to push him off of her. "KAREN!" Issac called out her name, standing there, still refusing to approach the feral beast.
"NO! GET OFF! HELP!!!" She screamed at the top of her lungs as Sonic nearly bit her face off, and prepares to punch her in the face.
POW!
Everyone watching the scene gasped and fled from the scene, either to call for help and just escape from the Werehog in case their next. Another punch landed on her as the Werehog continued roaring at her.
Then, at that moment, a couple come running in seeing everyone fleeing. The sheriff and his wife then see the Werehog himself beating up Karen.
"SONIC?!" They both cried.
Hearing their voices, Sonic shook off his fury and snapped back to his sense. Realizing what's happening, he gasped loudly, backing away from the bruised girl, who was now crying.
"Karen! Are you okay?" Isaac ran in to support his sister back up. "NO I DON'T LOOK OKAY, YOU IDIOT!" She yelled between sobs. "DO I LOOK OKAY?!"
Sonic was horrified by his actions. He took a few steps back before turning around to see them.
"T-Tom? Maddie?" He croaked.
The two stared in awe.
They all just stared at each other in silence. Most people in town just watched the scene unfold. Sonic began to shake, looking down at his hands.
"Wh-What have I done...?"
You know what to do now.
He looked back up at his former friends and felt sick to his stomach. Tears were streaming down like a waterfall. He felt like a monster.
He is a monster.
He's a Nightmare.
"I'm sorry." He sobbed before running away on all fours, crying loudly into town. "Sonic!" They both said his name and reaching out for him.
From the distance, an older gentlemen seen the whole scene from when the beast barged into the bank to seeing his guardians walk in at the wrong time.
He blinked, processing everything. "Holy cow." Carl finally spoke.
-
In the heart of the forest of Green Hills, Sonic was sobbing uncontrollably into his big, fluffy arms on the ground by a leafless tree. Some hiccups and some sniffles, the sobs escaped and echoed through the woods, for no one but Dark Gaia to hear.
After what it felt like hours of being alone and crying, he rose his head, his eyes bloodshot and tired, to see a pond in front of him. He doesn't have the strength to get up, he can only crawl over to the pond.
His reflection.
His stupid, supernatural reflection.
Why did this happen? Why did he cause havoc like that? Why would he do that to Karen? She may be a brat but she didn't deserve it.
The worst part? Tom and Maddie witnessed everything. Now they know how much of a monster Sonic truly is.
It was his fault for lashing out like that.
It was his fault for running into the woods before heading home.
He snarled at himself at the pond, his eyes glowing once more. "I hate you." He growled. "I hate you, SO MUCH!!!" He punched the pond multiple times with his giant fists, crying out non stop.
No matter how many times he punched the water, the reflection just doesn't go away. It refused to go away. It's there now. It'll always be there.
The Werehog is going to stay.
Sonic will always be a Werehog.
Finally, he stopped attacking his reflection, continuously sobbing, but quietly, feeling exhausted and hopeless.
You are overwhelmed by your new power. Rest. You need all the energy you need to gain me new Nightmares.
"Please..." He choked, shutting his eyes, not wanting to see himself in the pond anymore. "Go away... Please..."
Like I said, Sonic, you will not rid of me.
He has given up fighting with the stupid voice at this point. Who cares of Light Gaia's Bracelet is found or not, what he did back there was unacceptable.
Tom and Maddie will never forgive him for what he did back there, nor will he ever show his face in Green Hills again. Or anywhere, ever again.
He wished he never believed this when he entered the woods but...
Dark Gaia won.
Feeling sorrow rising within him, he slowly rose his head up to the sky and lets out a loud, but heartbreaking cry for the whole town to hear.
"AWWOOOOOOOOOoooooooo..."
-
To be concluded...
