Regarding the current state of the covid epidemic, and the evolutionary pressures coming to bear on the virus(es?) due to public health decisions on the part of the Biden Administration (et al).
The conclusion:
Taleb defines a “ruin problem” as “one where outcomes of risks have a non-zero probability of resulting in unrecoverable losses.” I suppose it would be possible for some to consider a million people dead from Covid not ruinous — after all, we can always breed more — but taking such risks repeatedly sounds like a very bad idea, especiallly since we’re taking that risk “at the systemic and collective level.”
If the papers I have presented are correct, the Biden Adminstration’s policy of mass infection has brought us to the brink of ruin. Vaccine escape is the direct result of the Administration’s mass infection policy. GM [a comment contributor known to the authors of NC and knowledgeable on health matters] writes:
[N]ever before has such a virus received the opportunity to replicate so fast and so much. We’re talking several orders of magnitude more replication than usual. And these are the results.
In the worst case scenario, the health care system is right back where it was in Spring 2020, with no working vaccines. Moreover, it will be overwhelmed not merely with Covid cases — remember “flattening the curve”? Good times! — but with all sorts of new infections brought about by Covid’s immune dysregulation abilities, as is happening in the UK now.
Even worse, the subvariants with demonstrated immune escape capabilities (BQ/XBB) are peaking and becoming dominant during the Christmas and New Year’s holiday period. Worse than that, the Southwest Airlines debacle has meant that there have been entire families, nationwide, staying 24/7 in airports, which are Covid hotspots, for days. Worse than that, opening up China will — probably already has — expose us to whatever variants have been brewing in immunocompromised Covid patients in that country.
Can’t anyone here play this game? “The pandemic is over.” No, it’s very not. It’s deja vu all over again! How many times do we have to repeat? Maybe try something new? Before it’s really too late?

Biiiiiiiitch What? Thousands of people were dying a day in NYC, emergency rooms were overflowing. The maskless were perfecting fine with spreading Covid, and I practically had an anxiety attack every time I went to the store. And there’s outrage over the police in Minnesota killing black men in front of perma traumatized children and teenagers. The teenager who filmed the murder still traumatized from seeing the wickedness in front of her. This is what you wanna go back to ? Three years later? Biiiiiiiittttttttttcccccvh what?????

The COVID lockdown has demonstrated these things:
* Our economy collapses as soon as it stops selling useless stuff to over-indebted people.
* It is perfectly possible to reduce pollution.
* The lowest paid people in the country are essential to its functioning.
* We can function without sports, celebrities & such.
* We can’t function without truckers, farmers, & the oilfield.
* We can definitely see how stupid society really is.
* Brainwashing is at a whole new level.
* That oil is worthless in a society without consumption.
* That healthcare has to be public because health is public.
* That 50% of jobs can be done from home while the other 50% deserve more than they're being paid.
* That we live in a society not an economy.
* If North America was ever attacked by actual invaders, the Liberals / Democrats will join the enemy.
* If mask’s actually worked, they would have been banned just like Hydroxychloroquine.
* For many people, Covid has become an obsession. They are addicted to the adrenaline generated by perpetual fear. They are addicted to the way their obsessive compulsive rituals soothe their anxiety. They are addicted to the sense of purpose they derive from 'helping' and 'obeying'.
* More people have been killed by the vaccines than what have been killed by guns but guns get the bad wrap.
No one died of Covid. They all died from underlying conditions & with Covid. Covid & the vaccines just sped up the death process. They were all murdered.
From natural and inexpensive pharmaceutical cures being censored, to hospitals being instructed to use Ventilators.
No One Died of Covid.

An open letter to those anti-maskers who are angry that we're still judging them for their decisions after the mask mandates have been largely lifted.
You can repeal the mandates, but you can't tell me what I can think. If you thought that being required to wear a piece of fabric in order to protect the health and safety of your community was an unbearable infringement on your personal freedom then you have no business telling me that I'm required to think a certain way in order to protect your feelings after showing little to no regard for mine.
You've made your decision and that decision has consequences, one of those is my moral approbation. You will have to live with that and, if you can't, then you need to figure it out on your own.
