@ghostsbrokenbyfairytales / closed starter / lola silvia torres
setting: town hall
Exiting the bathroom stall, Dorian sighed at the words written on the mirror in red lipstick. It had been all day with this-- fucking with him. He just about had enough of going back and forth to the mayor's office because he was told by Lola that she needed him... He couldn't possibly even ignore it because he wouldn't hear the end of it if it were real just one time. He tried fucking with her back, but he wasn't even sure how effective his methods were... Now the mayor and everyone else had left and he was seriously behind and annoyed.
"Alright, really? Whore? That's the best you could come up with?" He said, lifting up his hand which was covered with red from smearing the word off. "What are you, five? Or did you just decide to be a bad girl today and overdo it on the nose candy? Inquiring minds want to know."

Okay fine, I’ll do it myself: everyone is talking about the clock/time running out symbolism in Goncharov (1973) but no one is talking about the recurring idea of “deserving”?
Like the toast at the start with “may we never get what we deserve”? The “it’s what they deserve” right before the union raid? Sister Laura telling the boys “in Heaven and Hell we get what we deserve”? Spadano’s literal last line after being stabbed is “I deserved it” (that one is excusable since it’s hard to tell what he says w the coughing up blood n all)?
And like yes I have seen the very sexy gifset that contrasts the lines in the two climactic ‘break-up’ scenes where one goes “I deserve more / You’re gonna tell me what you deserve?” and the other “You don’t deserve it / You’re gonna tell me what *I* deserve?”
Like Marty is exploring the whole dichotomy between what we want and what we deserve, and it *ties back* into the whole time theme because the point is that you need to resolve the dissonance between want and deserve before it’s too late and you’re dead, from doing things for what you want that get you what you deserve, capisce?
