Cottagecore!Yuu x DarkFae!Malleus

a/n: not so good not so bad writing, (I'm still new to this lol) i just had this thought of writing this on that one post i saw about "someone should write Cottagecore Yuu x Dark academia Malleus (??) "

whoever you are thank you for that idea, please do forgive me for forgetting your username and i hope this fic come across you 😇🙏

Malleus, a popular name to mortals for he is known to be the next heir of the throne of the kingdom of Thorn Valley,

everyone in the neighboring kingdom of thorn valley (Ramshacklerion) feared Malleus for who knows what would he do once he succeed the throne, he might even betray the other kingdoms near the Thorn Valley just to get more power as Faes are known for being greedy on power and possessive of their treasures

because of this fear, the king of Ramshacklerion invited Malleus (for the first time) to a grand ball and even to let him stay at his castle for weeks just to earn his favor so his kingdom won't get ambushed if Malleus ever get a dark thought about overruling every kingdom just to make the Thorn Valley bigger,

however

Malleus is aware of this and thought its really amusing how these mortals think he would do such thing, yes, he did love the fact that he is invited to a party not that he ever gets to be invited often, but he did not love the fact it was just to earn his favor

he doesn't even care to go ruling other people's kingdom nor even want the powers and riches that's promised to it, nonetheless it would be also tiring just thinking he would had to keep such big land as that

he isn't that interested in the throne or even succeeding it

he don't want a big kingdom to rule

he don't want a big castle filled with treasures

he wants something else...

a companion

a companion to talk to

yes, Lilia and his other attendants are there for him and he does appreciate it

but he wanted more than a servant serving a master kind of relationship

he wants to experience the something what mortals exchange to each other, affection, warmth, happiness

or even love

he always have been jealous of everyone who share their love and affection to their significant other or their friend

he always read books about human intimacy back home or even sometimes sees it when he observes humans

he wants to feel the same thing humans do to people they love,

someday maybe

maybe someday he would experience it to someone who is willing to love him for who he is.

despite the name, Malleus thought the kingdom is pretty neat and peaceful itself

the kingdom is bright and blooming with colors and flowers unlike the Thorn Valley's dark atmosphere

it almost made his retairners sick of how bright and cheery this kingdom is

though he didn't mind to be in somewhere new rather than staying at his beloved big rotting villa

Malleus enjoys the half of his stay at the castle with his attendants

but only half

most of the servants of the castle avoids him and his attendants, they're not even trying to make eye contact nor look at them at their faces but just to bow down at them with their heads lower to the knee whenever they came across them

the king of this castle is no good either

everytime the king himself remembers that Malleus is staying in his castle, he would bother Malleus about non-sensical things including their ties with the Thorn Valley.

not only that, Malleus would get called over at his office many times to discuss about Malleus's stay at the castle and how is his experience

oh how would he love just to list everything thats on his mind of what he thinks and hate about this castle

he hates how everyone seems to have their head down on whenever they walk towards him or pass by him

he hates how the king himself is shady and bothers him about the kingdom stuff he isn't even interested in

he hates how he is forced to be with his retainers all the time so he wouldn't be in danger because of assassins and other malicious person that's trying to threaten his life

Then, Malleus had enough.

everything is too much

the king himself is too much too he almost wished he didn't accept his invitation.

thus this afternoon he snuck out of the palace leaving alone without his guards (and yes they did all panick except for Lilia who let Malleus have fun on his own because he know he can defend himself)

Malleus doesn't have anywhere to go and since he don't want to go around scaring the humans on the capital or the town's square of the kingdom

so he planned to just take walk and a breath on a nearby small forest behind the outskirts and come back to the castle after he's satisfied.

it was kind of overwhelming for him to stray in the forest just to leave the castle for a walk, there might be even dangerous animals or people around the forest but it's not like he can't fend for himself

the soft blowing of the fresh air and the rustling of the tree branches calmed his nerves as he continued to walk on the sturdy brown ground of the forest

it did not take him long to step on a grassy path and see a smoke coming behind from the trees

'did someone set something on fire?'

curious, he walked further to see where the smoke is coming from

it was from a chimney of a small old looking cottage on a big open grassy hill and behind it is a big flower field of yellow tulips and dandelions

his eyesight noticed that the cottage was decorated with variation of flowers and plants and has a cute stone path leading to its door that has crow carved into it and a mini trapdoor a perfect fit for an entrance for a pet cat or something small

'someone lives here?'

well he is not that surprised since the outskirts isn't that far from here but still, this looks like a secluded quite area, is it normal for humans to live in such places like this?

it piqued his interest how could a human live in such almost introverted state like how he is quite raised that way too

he walked towards the cottage and peeked to the window

the cottage was small from the outside but it inside seems like a stable place to stay in (for a human of course)

as you enter the door it was already the kitchen and there was two chairs tucked on a round red table that has white spots on it, near is a fireplace that seemed to be also a cooking stove when there is a pot of soup being heated with fire on it, behind the chairs there were other two doors probably leading to the bathroom and the bedroom of the person living in here

'so this was where the smoke was coming from....'

for some reason, up close the smoke smells like a great dish you would eat on a winter night to warm yourself and less of the smell of burning charcoal and wood.

he stared gently as how he would imagine himself living in a place like this

he would be too tall to even enter the entrance of it and probably would bump his head everytime he does.

it made him nod in agreement

his pointed ears perked up as he heard a laughter from a voice on the backyard of cottage

that...was a very cheerful laugh

he stood from his bending position and walked towards a wooden rack of potted plants to hide himself yet get a good peek of the person chuckling to themself

on his sight there was

a big cloth with red and white squares was settled on the green glossy grass near a tended garden of plants and crops, the picnic basket and a tea set sitting on it with almost half eaten sandwich and open empty can of tuna

and not much to his surprise

a person laying down on the grass, facing the sunset together with the flower field also Infront but far from them swaying on the rhythm of the wind as they chuckled while holding a yawning gray cat,

the scene itself felt so peaceful to watch, Malleus can't take his eyes off it

the cat broke free from the owners hold and started ruffling its body

"i don't think what i said was very funny henchman!!"

it's small mouth opened and spoke

it spoke.

Malleus was surprised, not because the cat spoke since he had read books about animals or familiars that can speak before, but how could a simple human, a comonner even obtain such thing?

"you are a very funny cat Grim, everyone thinks that you are my familiar yet you are treating me like I'm the henchman here!!" the person fake pouted as they cross their arms in a sudden

"Hmph!! henchmen like you shouldn't be complaining because I, the greatest Grim agreed to be your housemate!" Grim held his head high, puts his paws on his waist and pose proudly

"do you mean pet?" the person retorted sarcastically as they put their arms on the back of their head to act as a pillow

"WHAT WAS THAT!?" Grim hisses at the relaxed person

Malleus seemed to be so amused to the both squabbling out he giggled

he giggled?

how interesting... not often does he laugh at these type of things...

"and stop calling me henchman, i have a name you know?" the person said sternly

Malleus was so curious about the person's personality he didn't notice his hands moving a flower pot to the edge of the rack just to satisfy his curiosity

*CLACK*

the breaking sound of a pot caught the attention of the two on the backyard to turn their heads towards the plant rack.

panicking, Malleus hid himself on a neabry tree that is big enough to hide his tall figure

the two ran up to see what or who dropped the flower they have been taking care of

"Oh no my black petunias!!" the person looks so disgruntled seeing their treasured flower dropped down on the ground with its broken pot and scattered soil

"oh, its that black flowers you really like." Grim said as he stopped walking to the scene of the broken flower pot

"meh it doesn't even fit with the rest of the colorful flowers since its dark so its not really a big deal Yuu," Grim muttered carelessly looking away from Yuu since he doesn't really want to see their sad face

"still, no matter what it looks like its still a flower!! just like how everyone could be a different race they are still a person" Yuu protested back

Malleus eyes widened at the statement the human just said

could this person be.... the one who understands him?

hell, be friends with him even?

well everyone ought to learn the way of what they just said

'even though i am a successor of the throne of long evil rulers doesn't i am evil and power hungry like them too'

he thought to himself

still dejected, Yuu kneeled and started to pick up the broken piece by piece of the pot and soil to uncover to flower beautiful black flower

"mustve been caught by the wind, this is why i told you to never put em on near the end of the rack Yuu!!" the cat muttered irritably as he realized its one of the flowers also HE took care of just to plop down on the floor

he huffed and averted his eyes again just notice the shadowy figure peeking on the neabry tree

"but the wind isn't even that strong how could it-" Yuu's attention that was locked on the flower turned to Grim who was hissing on the nearby tree

Yuu stood up and turned their head where Grim's hissing is pointed at

the tree?

there they could see a tall shadowy figure peeking at them ominously

it made Yuu shiver to drop the broken pieces of the flower pot but not enough to make them turn and run for their lives

Yuu focused on their breathing, they inhaled and exhaled to calm themself

"um... hello? is someone there?" Yuu asked with a cautious voice, the shade of the tree is so good at hiding the person's body and since he is tall the branches are for his face

For a minute, Yuu thought they were hallucinating until decided Malleus to move a little to inform them that he is real and he is hiding from them

"I know you're there, don't be afraid." Yuu asked with a calm tone to the stranger

"I am not afraid..." Malleus deep voice made Yuu jump a little but at the same time it was very astonishing to hear

"then come out" Yuu asked amusingly to the person, interested on who they might be

"then you'll be afraid" Malleus replied, even if that human made a wise statement that doesn't they won't be frightened of who he is

"no I won't" Yuu insisted beaming a smile at him

Malleus moved out of the shade of the dark oak so the ray of the sunset would light up his face so the human could see him properly

Yuu walked back in awe, he was beautiful.... no, more than beautiful he was.... ethereal. the gleam of the sunset made his pale skin looks like he is glowing with beauty, his green forest eyes shined like the freshly dew of the green leaves in spring as it stared back to their own, his shiny dark hair flowed with wind that blowed to show off his elegance more, he looked like he straight came out from a fairytale

Yuu continued to stare at the breath-taking beauty of the stranger not noticing his anticipating reaction on the stare they were giving

"o-oh i didn't mean to make you uncomfortable" Yuu waved both of their hands while being flustered

"its just that um... you're s-so pretty" Yuu fiddled with their hands still doesn't have an idea how to talk properly to the stranger because of being stunned from his beauty

Yuu met a lot of beautiful people during their stay on this kingdom but not as much as this guy.

Malleus tilted his head in confusion for this is not a normal reaction of humans that met him

Malleus was so distraught, this is not the expression he expected from this person. do this person don't know who he is?

"do you... not know me?" he questioned the other ambiguously of the thought this person not knowing their Kingdom's guest

"am i supposed to?" Yuu answered with confusion

Malleus put a hand to cover his mouth to hide his amused smile

this action made Yuu nervous, did they mess up? did Yuu actually supposed to know who he is?

"i guess i can't blame you since you live in such secluded area but... you do really not know who i am?" Malleus asked again this time, smirking with curiousity

"uh... no?" This is making Yuu more nervous for some reason that smirk on his beautiful face looks really smug and mischievous

"well i see." Malleus finished it off with a giggle that made Yuu's face heat up in silence, that smile looks really pure on his face

is he perhaps a knight? a merchant? maybe a noble?

Yuu's thoughts filled with questions of who he this strange yet beautiful guy is

the other two continued to stand silently in awkwardness as Grim sniffed the air between them, mmm smells good... the soup Yuu is cooking is probably about to be done now right?

"Yuu, our soup is--" Grim stated as it hit Yuu to interrupt the cat

"OH RIGHT THE SOUP!!" Yuu yelled with shock as they shove their hand to their pocket to unlock the front door

"Yuu, the flower--" Grim reminded as Yuu released a "Ah!" noticing the broken flower pot

"why did you even lock the front door?" Grim irritably asked as he rolls his eyes

"because our backdoor isn't, Grim." Yuu, annoyingly retorted back to the talking cat

they were such a mess it's embarassing, they didn't know what to do first.

Malleus laughed as he flicked his wrist, sparkles of light circled the flower pot as it put back the cracks to pieces, the pot magically floated and was placed properly to the pot rack again, thus the once was broken flower pot is now fixed and back at its place

while this happened, Yuu and Grim watched in shock speechlessly

Yuu is used to seeing people using magic but not magic that can fix things like this

"A-are you a perhaps a sorcerer or even a wizard!?" Yuu stuttered with excitement as if its the first time they ever seen magic like a kid

well they are not wrong Malleus is one of the strongest sorcerers out there but he doesn't want to reveal that to this clueless human,

"Yes but i could only do simple things like this." Malleus gave a half hearted answer for this is a lie, it'll took normal sorcerers years to master that kind of spell but for him it only took him weeks

"and aren't you supposed to be worried about the food you're cooking?" Malleus asked whilst the human shuddered of remembering what they left on their small home

"ah!! again!! dammit where is that key...." while they fumble again on their pockets an idea struck their pretty little head

"Grim... dont you think that's alot of soup to eat?"

"Huh? of course!! after all I'm gonna back for secon-- MMMPH!!" Yuu covered Grims mouth with their palm as they pick up the cat

"w-well if our wizard friend here dont mind... can i invite you over for dinner? just as thank you for fixing our flower pot..." Yuu embarrassedly requested while Grim struggled on their hold to muffle a scream "No he can't" at Yuu, but their hand just wont budge on his mouth

"are you... inviting me? to have dinner in your house?" Malleus asked wide eyed with how bold this human is

"do you not want to?" Yuu fidgety, lowered their head already feeling the rejection of the beautiful stranger

"very well child of man, i accept your invitation" he beamed at Yuu

"child of man, thats... a weird nickname i do have a name though, its Yuu but feel free to call me that and-" the door creaked open as Yuu spoke and Grim broke free of their hold and ran inside the house

"please do come in" Yuu politely welcomed Malleus into their house as they both enter
