So. Fic idea for Halloween. The Corinthian and Dream carving pumpkins...how would it go?
Would Dream make the most insanely intricately beautiful but unquestioningly terrifying design you've ever seen in your life? Just effortlessly excelling with this soft happy smile on his face because he loves creating? Would the Corinthian use it as an opportunity to show off his knife skills like hey your majesty I can cut you like this too *winks in an incredibly threatening yet sexy way*
I can already foresee some ambiguously gory descriptions of scooping out pumpkin insides in this fics future.
Maybe someone is tempted to throw some pumpkin insides at the other one when their back is turned. Maybe Matthew is there chipping away at his own pumpkin with his beak. Maybe Lucienne has her own half completed and is stood watching the chaos unfold with disapproval (for the Corinthian) and warm fondness (for Dream).
(...Is Mervyn crying in a corner somewhere because damn this happens every year and it might be tradition but that doesn't change the fact that it's so disrespectful)

Shipper tag game
Thank you for the tag @marvagon, you glorious human 💖💖💖.
What ship were you completely obsessed with as a teenager, but now you don't care about anymore?
None. I may not be as passionate about them as I once was. But I still hold all my past ships near and dear to my heart. I'll even occasionally nip into their tags on A03 and have a dip into newer fics.
What ship would you consider your first one?
Daiken/Kensuke from Digimon 02. I remember watching it on Saturday morning and wondering if anyone else was seeing what I was seeing. That led me to discover Fanfiction.net. And the rest is history...
Your first fanfic was about which couple?
My very first full length fic was Corinthiel, posted here on Tumblr. My first fic posted on AO3 was Dreamling, and I wrote both last year. I am a very, very, very late comer to fanfic 😅. I'm honestly much more at home drawing fanart then writing. But will occasionally give into temptation, when an idea obbsessively hounds me to the point of insanity.
Do you remember the first couple you saw fan art of?
I genuinely can't. 😅 I remember it was probably on deviantart.
Have you ever gotten into ship discourse?
I try desperately to stay out of ship discourse. To me people's ships are their joy... And I've got no interest in being a theif of joy. If there's something I want to see more of in the fandom, like a rare pair I'm fond of, I just try and create content and hope someone else joins in (@bobbole loves you 💚🤍😅) . If it's not for me, I just keep scrolling on by.
Did you use to have any NOTP or have one currently?
Again, no. I've always been happy to pick and mix my ships. I have my favorites ofcourse. But I've never outright refused to dip my toe into any ship. Maybe if it ventured into an area I personally deemed problematic. But mostly, I'm happy to try anything once.
Who were the last couple in the last fanfic you read?
I'm currently reading Remy Lebeau x Logan fanfic from Xmen. 😅 What sent me in that direction, I do not know. But I've found some amazing new fics in and amongst revisiting some old favourites.
Currently, do you have any OTPs?
I can proudly say until recently I've never had an OTP. Being a multishipper makes that kind of hard. But I don't know, I may be in too deep with Corinthiel. I'm not sure I could picture Danny and the Second Corinthian with anyone else but each other now. (Curse you @ibrithir-was-here. See what you have wraught! 😆). Them and Charmes (Charon x Hermes) from Hades. Because why would you split up the professional associates like that?! (Again very much your fault @mashumaru 😆) , Damn, I guess I've got OTPs now. If there's an established, happy couple in canon, most of the time I'll respect that and leave them be. So I guess that kind of counts too.
Is there any couple that, to this day, that you are extremely mad about not getting into?
Again no. If the juggernaut ship of a fandom doesn't really tickle my fancy, I'll sometimes stare forlornly at it. And sigh like a sad bohemian poet. But that's all content envy and I know it. 😆
Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they're kind of interesting?
🤔 I didn't dislike it, but I never really ventured near Corintheus until I started shipping Corinthiel. That made me backtrack and consider Morpheus and the original Corinthian's relationship from an entirely different perspective.
Do you have any ship that, in the past, would have been considered normal but now you would be cancelled over?
No I don't think so. As far as know they're all still alive, well and for the most part, living in peace and harmony in their respective fandoms.
What is your favorite crack ship?
Bookend, Destiny and his Book. The old book and chain. Living their best, grumpy old married couple, life together. @jazzy-a 🤜🤛🤣.
What is the couple you read the most fanfics about?
Most recently was Dreamling. I'm a bit of fandom butterfly at the moment, fluttering between multiple fandoms, waiting for the next all consuming passion to strike me down. I read, and reread ANYTHING Corinthiel 😅. But of all time?..... I couldn't say. I revisit so many of my ships so often.
What do most of your ships have in common?
Two bastards in love will always be my favourite. I'd love to boldly claim it's all about two morally dubious rogues, being despicable in the kinkiest ways together. 😅 But I know it's more about two people, often misunderstood and maligned... Finding a deep sense of belonging with each other. But I'm an eclectic sort and I've got a lot ships that don't fit that category I still love dearly.
What do you absolutely hate in a ship?
Absolutely nothing outright. I'll sometimes go off a ship a little once it reaches that point where fanon locks in too tight around it. But I think that's a very me problem, as I crave variation/new experiences/ideas. I'll still love the ship, I'll just know that's just my time to move onto something new and come back and visit every so often.
I'm tagging @martybaker @thelostkelpie @missingrache @thirrith @zigzag-wanderer @lucienne-thee-librarian and @tickldpnk8 and anyone mentioned above. If you want to have a go. 😁

My primary ship in The Sandman fandom is Corintheus and this is the main pairing in my stories, sometimes with a side of Lucifer/Corinthian, Desire/Corinthian or even Destruction/Corinthian for some indulgent fun. I’ve never and certainly will never write Dreamling. I rarely include Hob in my fics and when I do, he’s a friend to Dream, nothing more—absolutely no sexual attraction or romantic feelings for either Morpheus or the Corinthian.
Tbh Hob/Corinthian makes the least sense in all pairings where our toothy Nightmare is involved, less than even the crack and crossover pairings. Cori’s type is young twinks (some panels in the comics mention ‘pretty boys’), preferably with pale blue eyes and Hob checks none of the boxes.

Did you think I was just gonna send you one? Nope.
Rivalry this time please?
Haha! I think I'll let you get away with sending multiple, and I was definitely expecting it. Rivalry it is :)
-
The Corinthian wasn’t one to answer a summons, to snap to attention and come to heel—especially not for a stuffy librarian—but when a raven followed you around and literally would not shut up about a secret meeting there were only really two choices. The first was infinitely preferable, a tantalising opportunity to snatch the bird out of the air and gut it, a vision of bloody feathers and blessed, soothing silence. However, since the Corinthian didn’t know if he wanted to risk being punished by Dream for killing his stupid raven, he was left with only one real option.
He went to meet Lucienne.
The raven—Michael? Mitchell? It didn’t really matter—followed in a swoop of black wings, vocalising a sigh of relief that was only possible because of what he was. A physical animal wouldn’t have been able to make such a noise, let alone talk, and the Corinthian found himself thinking back to Jessamy with something like reluctant fondness.
She hadn’t been nearly this annoying.

Shipper Tag Game
Tagged by @seiya-starsniper <3
What ship were you completely obsessed with as a teenager, but now you don't care about anymore?
I don’t think there are any actually! I’m pretty consistent and will usually circle back to a ship every couple of years 😊
Which ship would you consider your first one?
This is tough, I don’t think I actually remember. Though I think last time I answered this question I mentioned Lord of the Rings because of Aragorn/Arwen
Your first fanfic was about which couple?
My secret anon identity means I can’t answer this honestly – but the first one I’ve written without being anonymous is Corintheus
Do you remember the first couple you saw fan art of?
Long long time ago so not quite sure actually, might be a ship from Harry Potter
Have you ever gotten into ship discourse?
Nope! I try and stay away from it—though I never hide my opinions, I just don’t really engage too much in ship discourse. People are always going to have differing opinions over pairings, and I’ve seen it get very ugly in fandom spaces.
Did you use to have any NOTP or have one currently?
Oh I have a fair few, but usually they are ships I was previously neutral about. Some of them are also things I've previously shipped. My NOTPs are pretty much all results of a not so pleasant fandom experience, so I don’t really talk a lot about what they are. I’m a multishipper so the only time I actually have a NOTP is when a ship is overwhelmingly represented in a way that I just can’t get on board with.
Who were the last couple in the last fanfic you read?
Corintheus 😊 which is definitely what I’m most known for haha, so probably not a surprise
Currently, do you have any OTPs?
As I said…I am a multishipper, and I’ve never really had an OTP. It’s not a concept I really resonate with? Especially with fanfic because for me it’s all about the exploration of possibilities, and I can very much ship multiple things at once. I care more about interesting/well executed characterisation and well written relationship dynamics.
Is there any couple that, to this day, that you are extremely mad about not getting into?
Not really, because if I’m not into a ship in at least some way (or neutral/open to the possibility) then there is usually a very, very good reason.
Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they're kind of interesting?
Hmm. Maybe Desire/Unity? But it’s not that I ever really disliked them, more that there are some obvious consent issues within it that initially made me not really consider the ship too closely. The more I see others exploring it the more I’ve found them interesting 😊
Do you have any ship that, in the past, would have been considered normal but now you would be cancelled over?
I don’t think so actually! Though I’m probably forgetting something
What is your favourite crack ship?
Ooh I’ve read a lot of bizarre stuff. Hmm. It might have to be a certain ship that @writing-for-life introduced me to (if you know what I’m talking about it will need no further explanation haha)
What is the couple you read the most fanfics about?
I’m still anon in a lot of fandoms so I can’t actually answer this question too honestly. I haven’t actually been reading that much recently (very focused on writing at the moment)
What do most of your ships have in common?
Equality…in some fashion they are each other’s match. Which sounds like a strange thing to say for Corintheus but it doesn’t necessarily have to be in physical strength/power.
I also ship a fair few ‘enemies to lovers’ ships. Probably for the above reason! It’s the intimacy of it I think. Also the complexity, I like ships where the dynamic is compelling but not necessarily easy to pull off in a fic, because that usually means more thought is put into the execution of it. If that makes sense? And I am very much all about the execution when I read/write.
What do you absolutely hate in a ship?
Butchering characterisation just to play out a binary sex dynamic. Mostly this presents as overt feminisation of the one character who is designated to be ‘weaker’ for reasons both untrue and usually very offensive. Which sounds harsh but it’s something I utterly despise. Folded into this is also one character ‘fixing’ the other character, especially when this involves that character giving up something important/integral to who they are. I see it so much in published fiction as well and it’s just not for me at all.
I also really don’t like it when unhealthy behaviours are romanticised (usually to ‘fix’ one character) or miscommunication when it’s not something silly like accidentally buying your partner the wrong type of coffee because you were so tired you misheard a word.

Indulge Me (4044 words) by Korzhel Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: The Sandman (Comics), The Sandman (TV 2022) Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: The Corinthian/Dream of the Endless, The Corinthian/Dream of the Endless | Morpheus Characters: Dream of the Endless, Dream of the Endless | Morpheus, The Corinthian (Sandman), Lucien | Lucienne (The Sandman) Additional Tags: Actual Cat Dream of the Endless | Morpheus, Shapeshifting, Fluff and Humor, with an edge because it's these two, Possessive Behavior, Implied Relationship, this is very self indulgent, Pet Names, There is a Hint of Plot, The Corinthian is His Own Warning (The Sandman), Possessive The Corinthian (The Sandman), Crack Treated Somewhat Seriously, minimal spoilers Series: Part 7 of Corintheus AUs Summary: “Wait,” The Corinthian said, hit by an inkling thought. “Are you stuck?” Dream of the Endless—King of the Dreaming, Prince of Stories, Shaper of Forms—currently a sleek black cat, hissed at his tone, evidently unimpressed with his growing smile. It was far less intimidating than it was supposed to be, especially coming from a creature barely the size of the Corinthian’s shoe. Dream seemed to realise he hadn’t quite managed to get the response he wanted; glowing eyes peered up at the Corinthian, still so very bright, luminous, staring unblinking while the tip of his tail flicked back and forth in obvious irritation. Then he meowed, insistently— Sulkily. It was a long time before the Corinthian could stop laughing. Or, a Corintheus cat!Dream fic because this pairing deserves more of this trope.

Last Line Challenge (But it's a paragraph because I have no self control):
Rules: in a new post, show the last line you wrote (or drew) and tag as many people as there are words (or however many you like).
So @aisalynn tagged me in this yesterday and I am now playing fast and loose with this challenge because this is both not one line and also not what I last wrote. It's from my nano Corintheus fic (currently titled Role Reversal AU):
It seemed Morpheus was once again at work.
That certainly explained the delay, explained but didn’t entirely soothe the rankle, how the Corinthian was being kept waiting in favour of soothing (cracking, piercing) a human mind. The King of Nightmares would have to punish for that, would have to praise his creation while he disciplined him, because though he would enforce protocol it would never trump devotion.
