More Sonic-verse heraldic Pantheons! (Pantheons the animal, not Pantheon the word)
I wanted to try playing with patterns, star shapes and colours- based on Pantheons from irl coats of arms and online descriptions.
The key features of the actual mythical animal seem to be a doe/antler-less-deer body, a fox’s tail and star markings. Which is pretty flexible! I wonder if the right combination of markings and proportions could allow one to pass as a different, non-mythical animal? Perhaps a horse, a kind of deer.. maybe even a very strange canine, if they lucked out and got a less herbivorous looking face.
I have no idea why a Mobian Pantheon would need to do that, but it might work for a character that needs to mask a special ability or hide their heritage from someone out to harm them. Tbh, trying to make a ‘normal animal passing’ Pantheon sounds like a fun personal challenge for another day...
Speaking of abilities, my wife also suggested something really cool: Theming Pantheons on atomic elements using the number of stars on their body. I think that’d make for a cool character creation ruleset as you’d have a tool for coming up with powers. For instance, Atmos (my Pantheon) has 9 stars on her body, and the element with an atomic number of 9 is Fluorine! Fluorine is a -ridiculously- reactive element that draws things towards it. It has other properties but I can use that as a validation for a telekinesis power if I wanted. c:
