I just can't deal with the fact that I never feel as lonely as when I am with my family on Christmas. Everyone is actually nice, but I am not really part of their happy little world. I am just a visitor, a temporary guest. It's not as bad at other times but on Christmas I always feel like the freezing kid looking into a bright lit window and seeing those warm happy people inside. I am my dad's kid, but I'm not really family. And I am never sure how much of this feeling is rooted in current reality or just my weird trauma\brain chemistry making life harder for me than it actually is. Fuck I hate Christmas so much. And it does not get better with age. It feels worse every year.

Everyone of you wonderful people out there, having a hard time with your relatives, you are not alone. We are in this together. Sending y'all out there lots of love. We will survey this.

“Stay out of it, Joey.” Adeline turned her attention to Shiva. “What is it that your daughter offers to change a man like him? If she hadn’t been involved in that matter, my son would have never been targeted like this.”

“Or maybe if your son hadn’t been so reckless, my daughter wouldn’t have been taken.” She took a step in Adeline’s direction. Several steps. “Maybe she wouldn’t have had to kill for him.”

Eyes wide, Medea tries to tug her mother’s arm, heavily protesting. “Mom, it’s not like that. It wasn’t his–”

At the same time, Slade’s brain stopped working. What?

`

“Excuse me? Are you implying that it’s his fault?”

The corner of Shiva’s lips curled into a malicious smirk. She seemed to take delight in how irritated Adeline had become. “Implying? No, I’m–”

Medea doesn’t know if any of their parents still remembered about their existence. As the seconds went on, they looked more likely to tear each other’s throat out.

Joey tugs her out the safe house and none of them even seem to have noticed.

Escaped clone au

You know all those fics where Danny and Damian are twins but everyone first assumes Danny must be a clone? How about an au where Danny is Damian's clone who escaped the League after he was assumed dead. Damian could even have been the one to have "killed" him, back when Danny was a newly created, fully brainwashed clone minion and trying to kill Damian himself.

Danny gets adopted by the Fentons and canon goes on as normal, until Dan. Witnessing what would happen to the world should he turn evil really drove home to Danny how dangerous he is.

Even if he was confident he could be trusted with his absurd amount of power (which he isn't), what if the League of Assassins found out about him? Does he still have programming triggers from his evil assassin clone conditioning?

So, Danny does the responsible thing: he goes to Batman to turn himself in.

Cue Danny showing up on Bruce's doorstep with ghost hunting equipment, intel on the afterlife, and an almost unbelievable backstory. Somehow he still managed to be more well-adjusted than Damian.

Here's how I'm thinking Danny leaving the League went down:

After surviving his wounds but failing his mission, Danny (then an unnamed potential Damian replacement) knew there was no point in returning to the League. As a failure, he was meant to be disposed of. He even thought of simply allowing himself to perish, since that was what the League would do.

But he couldn't help but feel as though that would be a waste of a resource. Surely he could be of more use to the League alive than dead?

That tiny bit of rebellious logic is what caused Danny to go into hiding, only living on based on the off chance he would find opportunities to further the League's goals. Obviously, that mentality didn't last long after being exposed to the real world and meeting one Jazz Fenton.

Being adopted by the Fentons was the best cover Danny could have asked for, since any odd behavior he couldn't hide while he was learning how to be "normal" was totally overshadowed by the sheer bizarre eccentricity of his new parents. He was still the neighborhood weird kid, but even that was a major upgrade from disposable tool, so Danny considered it a win.

WWX truly and genuinely does mean it when he says he wants to support JC #And that JC hopes for that too! Tragedies hit the hardest when you can feel the lost futures characters would have together #And I feel it here in this scene so painfully. There's complicated feelings between them but it wasn't what broke them apart.#The rumours and the twisted family dynamics that tried to pit them against each other likely wouldnt have worked.#It set the stage for JC to have an inferiority complex which then grows into his responsibility complex.#WWX even calls it out! That JC has to be the responsible one in the dynamic.#And it sucks to be in that unequal position with a sibling or a not-sibling.#You don't get the love *or* acknowledgement but you do get the pressure to be the 'better one' in the face of the other's misbehaviour.#But I digress. There was a world where they did became the twin heroes of yunmeng jiang and stayed together.#And we'll never see it. That world is gone now. And just like Lotus pier -even if they tried to rebuild it - they will never be the same.

my favorite dumb personal headcanon is that finn tidestrider and specifically the elder triton have beef. none of the elders like him very much-- he's one of the most intelligent and widely recognized/respected names in the entire undersea, and he:

isn't religious in any way, shape, or form (alongside the rest of his family)

never married, but had a son later in life, that many people believe was the result of some kind of affair (of course, nothing was ever PROVEN)

had a blatant disregard for not only societal norms, but all the supposed "dangers" life outside of the capital had-- and frequently poked holes in their logic, especially in regards to the oversea

AND finn and his bastard son are the grandfather and father of the fucking chosen one. because of course they are. so yeah. the elders don't like him. but finn and the elder triton, for whatever fucking reason, have BEEF. why? no one knows. they hate finn's autistic swag.

ok people we gotta stop making mori the source of all evil with soukoku. Yes mori is evil about how he treated yosano and a lot of the pm members but that's a whole other can of worms.

Machete has parents?? I'm not familiar with their actual lore, so I've been imagining Machete as a desolate victorian orphan boy

Everyone has parents, he didn't materialize out of thin air (or evolve from a crumpled napkin).

But he lost contact with them early on and doesn't remember much of anything about them. Machete was a sickly kid and his family was going through a rough patch at the time, they were constantly struggling to find the time and funds to care for him. Child mortality was high and it was starting to look increasingly likely that he wouldn't make it. He was around three or four when they left him at the closest monastery that accepted foundlings and he hasn't heard of them since.

#it was child abandonment but I don't think they did it out of malice or anything #monasteries often functioned as hospitals and/or orphanages and his parents hoped it would give him a better fighting chance #sending children to monasteries to be raised as oblates wasn't uniquely uncommon #and it worked he was well looked after there and probably wouldn't have survived otherwise #but of course being separated from your family isn't great for a child's psyche in any situation #answered #anonymous #Vaschete lore #in modern au he has a better but still complicated relationship with his parents #he's not super close to his brothers but they get along fine #so not victorian (different era) and not an orphan (his parents aren't dead they just chose to sever ties with him)
