Although it may appear that this Common Potoo is singing an aria, it is actually yawning. This potoo was observed atop a broken off trunk along the Vía Cunuco about 2 miles north of Mindo in northwestern Ecuador at 9:41 AM on May 9, 2020. The Common Potoo is a member of the family Nyctibiidae and is found from Nicaragua south to northwestern Venezuela, Colombia, western Ecuador, the Guianas, Brazil, Paraguay and northern Argentina. It is also found in Trinidad and Tobago.
