Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun is an autistic fixation of mine. I don't play it often and I'm not very good at it, and it's not a very balanced game that, as I understand, was rushed to shit.
But two things:
GOD this game's aesthetic is fucking immaculate. there's something i seriously fell in love with about how this game sells the desolate, alien world that Earth has become in the story in its spritework, lighting and music. the look imho still holds up amazingly today even though it has goofy FMV, and i enjoy the FMV in its own right because of how unapologetically hammy it feels. it's something i think everyone should enjoy at least once. which leads perfectly into...
It's free. https://cnc-comm.com/tiberian-sun/downloads/the-game/installer
Tiberian Sun and its Firestorm expansion have been freeware since 2010 and is updated to be playable comfortably on modern PC firmware, including multiple different choices of renderer in case one doesn't work for you. it'll likely take a bit of finegling to get it to run well and not glitch out (for example, my pause menu likes to disappear when alt-tabbing, if i'm running DDrawCompat in windowed mode), but i think that it's worth it if you enjoy any kind of RTS.
this is by no means a perfect game, but i want to see people enjoy the game whose Vibes remain stuck in my brain like a foot-long rail spike.

I've been looking through my wife's old Command and Conquer game discs and sadly found some of them are too beat up to be read anymore. Thankfully, I have found that one of them is actually now freeware as of 2010! This website contains copies of the game discs as well as handy installer that should help the game run on modern systems.

Day 2, 11:54 AM, Entry 7
Lovely day, yes everyone? I'm currently waiting for the day to end in my english class, school gets out at 1:44, so it'll be a while. Can't say i've done much since my last entry. Apart from fiddling around on two marginally different games, being Tiberian Sun and Magic Cat Academy.

Quite a stark difference we have here, hm? I don't particularly care much for maturity in my games, as long as I enjoy them. Where's the fun in being all serious 24/7? Now, you're probably thinking "I don't know a sliver of information on either of these." And for that? I do not blame you. The left is a 1999 PC strategy game of the aforementioned Command and Conquer franchise, and the other is a 2016 Google doodle made specially for Halloween. They actually brought the cat lass back in 2019 for some aquatic themed sequel, isn't that something? Cats don't like water, so I don't particularly know why they went with that. I guess it makes sense for a Halloween game to involve facing your fears? Whatever. As for Tiberian Sun (oh wow, you can color text?)... Yeah, that's probably not getting anything new. Both lovely games and guess what? You don't have to pirate either, both are legally available at the time of writing. I'm going to head back to pretending I'm doing something in this nightmare of a classroom, now. Goodbye!
Edit 12:11: The color change apparently didn’t reflect. Whoops.

Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun
Herzog Zwei is not an RTS. Dune 2 is the first RTS. In 2010 EA decided to release this game for free. I’ve tried to play The First Decade version but it didn’t work correctly, so i had to install the “TSpatch.exe” fanpatch for Win10. It was very long ago, but i think the first time ever i saw any C&C, it was already on an anthology disk with Tiberian Sun and Firestorm. Yet i’ve never got the…

Command & Conquer games scored at Vintage Computer Festival Midwest 17.
C&C Sole Survivor Online is an obscure title in the C&C library. Based on the original C&C, it was turned into a short-lived online-only experience where you guide a soldier around a battlefield and upgrade up with crates to fight other players. The servers have been down for maybe 25 years now? I recently heard that fans resurrected the server functionality, so I'll have to try this out.
C&C Red Alert: The Aftermath is an expansion to Red Alert, adding more missions and units. I've always wanted a physical copy.
C&C Tiberian Sun: Firestorm is the expansion to Tiberian Sun adding 2 new campaigns and new units. I've never had a jewel case for this game before.
