Love the idea of Danny being a horror movie child.

Like he somehow ends up with a non-supernatural DC family, be it the Kent's or the Batfam, and kind of just....is vaguely unsettling at first.

He stares into dark corners laughs at jokes only he hears. Tells random people things no one else should know.

And, used to weird, his new family let's it slide. Then they start seeing things. His shadow is bigger than it should be. Multiple eyes appear in the dark, watching them. Whispers fill the halls at night.

It's driving some crazy as they can SWEAR that when Danny gets mad they hear the screams of the damned.

Meanwhile Danny is chilling with his bodygaurd Fright Knight and is happy to have visits from his former rogues who make sure to check in on him as he's going through a rough patch in his life and, as a young ghost, is very susceptible to drastic changes.

How did Treasure Planet manage to come up with the greatest aesthetic in all human history? Victorian elegance plus space-age flair, with just enough dirt and grime and wear and tear to make it feel real? A combination of traditional and computer animation that perfectly embodies the movie's blend of old and futuristic? How does it get any better than that?

straight up not respecting some of the alleged p2 characters' ages as they were given on the VA's papers bc you're telling me this is a 27yo man on the left & a 35(!)yo woman on the right? you jest. this woman is in her 20s at most. she doesn't have a wrinkle of age on her face. just worry. i know men age like milk this is taking the piss. i know patho 2 is the "hot blemishless 20something white(-passing) women" game but at this point own it. don't try lying to me. she doesn't look a day past 29. got friends below 25 with more winkles. in the first half of the 20th century too. where would she be getting her anti-aging serums.

you're telling me this woman who's a chronic worrier, dealing with chronic pain, who smokes like a locomotive to cope is allegedly 5 years Older than this guy who's been drinking himself to sleep for like 5 years.

on one hand, i love Content™. on the other, i realise that the pushed marketability of bands/artists is the main reason behind the modern dehumanisation of music.

sometimes people have things to say and melodies to share, they shouldn't need to have a sexy photoshoot and witty interviews to be able to have someone listen to them, you know?

why are so many stories nowadays about the end of things. the fall of civilizations. the end of eras. the sad slow death of the past into a grimmer future. this sense of living in the End Times has permeated sooo many genres for a literal Century and it just makes me sad that the change is. always towards the world getting smaller and darker and less magical

I keep wanting to find some media that is just...about a Haunted Age Of Sail Boat. Hell I will take a Haunted Contemporary Boat. I have such an itch that's NOT BEING SCRATCHED. That's why I work on my comic all the time cos it's scratching the itch as a Haunted Whaling Ship Story. But I wanna consume someone ELSE'S boat ghost story too.

Is this gonna push me to watch ghost ship tonight? Haven't seen that since I was a teen. I remember it being mediocre and it's not what I want but.

Unsure the current trending opinions on Across the Spider-Verse, but:

Beyond the fact that the art fucks 1,100% and the way it made me look back on Into the Spider-Verse with incredulity to see how far back Across’ foreshadowing was set up-

It’s a coming-of-age movie, in the most heartwrenching and unapologetic ways. The whole damn trilogy is a coming of age story. It takes the nice happy ending we get in Into the Spider-Verse, and goes ‘No story remains wholly happy, if you don’t pause the scene after the kisses and hugs.’

And not in a bleak way, or at least I think that’s something Beyond the Spider-Verse will - hopefully - hammer home better than any of us will see coming. But...

There’s the whole overarching thing in Into about “No Expectations” and how this applies to both the expectations his family has and the expections of being a Spider-Man. Well, Miles did it. He had to fight that fight, and he won it at 14. It changed the course of his whole fucking destiny. 

And...Across the Spider-Verse comes knocking on the door and goes “Yeah, that fight isn’t one you fight and win once. The endless expectations that you subvert and slay at 14, are coming right back around at 15. This is a lifelong struggle, and old happy endings will always become more bittersweet as you get older.”

And, as Across has started to lace for us - and, as I think and hope Beyond will run home for us - it’s also going “And this is alright. It sucks. And it’s not fair. But also, fuck destiny and what’s expected of you, and you’ll find family to help build a better future alongside.”

Beyond being on the bleeding edge of animation and having a story being executed to precision, the Spider-Verse movies are also a coming of age story.

August Pullman was born with a facial difference that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid—but his new classmates can’t get past Auggie’s extraordinary face. Wonder, begins from Auggie’s point of view, but soon switches to include his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others.
