Whumpril Day 20: Waiting Room (Alt Prompt 4? 5?)
Fandom: Star Wars The Clone Wars
Summary: Cody gets hurt and Obi-wan just wants him to be okay.
The waiting room was silent. Obi-wan waited for a nurse or doctor to come and tell him how his commander was. The Jedi was told that Cody had stopped a kidnapping but gotten beaten up and shot in the process. It was just like the clone to protect people. Obi-wan was proud.
The child was fine. The doctor, with parents permission, had told him that a few hours ago. Cody needed surgery for his injuries.
It was quiet, far too quiet. The off white walls felt suffocating. The chairs were hard and uncomfortable. Time felt like it stopped. The clock on the wall taunted Obi-wan. Minutes felt like hours and hours felt like days. Nothing else seemed to matter.
No one else was in the room. Obi-wan couldn't help but think about the people who had been in the room before him. They would've waited the same as him. The pain or relief they felt as the doctor walked in and informed them of how their loved ones were.
Waiting here in this room was painful. Kenobi was helpless, only able to sit and see if the walls would see another person's life fall apart. The four off white walls had watched hundreds of hearts crumble. As long as lives were lost and those walls stood, they would watch time stop and start for people they never knew the story off. They were unable to provide any comfort to the scared loved ones.
The general shifted uncomfortably. He leaned back and took a few deep breaths. Everything had to be okay. For now he would sit here; in this waiting room; using it for its intended purpose. Waiting.

Part Eleven of 212th Medic Skull Has Had Enough on ao3
| Part two | Part Three | Part Four | Part Five | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 8 | Part 9 | Part 10
Summary:
Obi-Wan is concussed, it’s Cody’s fault, and Skull doesn’t have time for this banthashit.
(Or, another follow-up to Skull's infamous run-in with the 212th's newest secret couple. This time, Obi-Wan get's a concussion at a party and as a result, the rest of the 212th gets in on the secret)
Word Count: 4,000 (exactly)
Skull received the text comm message at two in the morning from Waxer. He was awake– of course– because he couldn’t sleep knowing that he was going to be called anyway. That’s what usually happened when the 212th were involved.
It had been decided by Waxer and Boil’s one collective brain cell that there would be a celebration in the Negotiator’s refectory to celebrate the destruction of the droid factory on Corellia. It was the same factory where Skywalker had destroyed the kriffing Sith artifact that had brought Kenobi to his knees, so Skull hadn’t been opposed to its disintegration.
However, he wasn’t exactly on board with a planned celebration that Waxer said would involve–  getting karking wasted– and that was it.
Skull wasn’t exactly the– getting karking wasted–  type, so he had respectfully passed. Regardless, he knew as well as anyone, where alcohol was involved, someone would get injured and at least one medic would have to be in their right mind if that happened.
So, Skull took to his quarters and set about reading an article he had discovered on a newly developed form of bacta treatment.
Hours later, the first comm came in.
General. Come get.
Skull’s eyebrows rose as he eyed the message attempting to decipher it before he sent a response. It either was an attempt to trick him into going to the party, or a very poor attempt at describing an injury.
What? Why?
He settled on the question, hoping he would get a response before he started pulling on clothes. To his surprise, within seconds, a response appeared.
Can you get him? Think Cody broke him.
Skull audibly groaned and shuffled underneath his sheets where he had settled in bed for the evening.
Fine. Get him sitting or something, please.
Skull sent his response and pulled on a set of blacks and some boots. He took his medkit from where he had tucked it by the door, and began the fairly long walk from the medical wing down to the refectory.
The roar of music and men yelling could be heard from far down the long hallway, reminding Skull once again how much he enjoyed the serene silence his own quarters had to offer. He hoped he would only have to deal with it for a few minutes, probably drag Kenobi back to his quarters to sleep off the alcohol.
Turning the corner into the refectory, Skull frowned. The room was dark except for the glow of red and orange lights that had been strung around the room. Pounding music that Skull could feel deep in his chest filled the room guiding the movements of many of the vode where they swayed in the center of the makeshift dance floor.
He peered around the dark room, ignoring the odd comment about how he finally decided to show up, and tried to find the General. That failing, he looked for Waxer instead, finding him across the room standing beside a long table that was filled with the various spoils of the 212th’s missions to different planets and cities.
Waxer laughed loudly, breaking away from the group that surrounded him, and stumbled toward Skull with a sloshing Trandoshan ale in hand.
“Skully!”
Yeah, he was wasted. Waxer knew Skull would handcuff him to his medical bed if he used that name on any ordinary occasion.
Skull took a step back, shielding his blacks from the splashes of ale that slid over sides, “Woah, how about you just– stand still.”
Waxer obliged for the most part, save for swaying where he stood, giddy smile spread across his face. “Sorry.” He slurred out and Skull held back another sigh.
“Where’s the General?” He asked pointedly, still eyeing the perimeter of the room for a sign of him.
“He’s right over–” Waxer pointed toward the far side of the room where several tables had been pushed against the wall, then frowned. The General wasn’t there. “Or, um, he used to be there?”
Skull rubbed a hand over his forehead, cursing himself for not just coming to keep an eye on things anyway; it would probably have made his life easier.
“Do you think he left? Was anyone with him?” Skull asked, doing a final sweep of the space and finding that the General was not, in fact, in the refectory.
“I don’t know… Cody?” Waxer shrugged, frowned, and waved his arm toward the door. “Guess someone better find him.”
“Amazing train of thought, Waxer.” Skull grumbled and turned on his heel.
He headed in the direction of Kenobi’s quarters figuring it was a good start. Though he hadn’t seen the General, much less Cody, drunk before, he figured that neither would let themselves get drunk enough they weren’t semi-aware. Hopefully, that meant one of them had made the rational decision to get to their quarters.
Skull walked for some time, listening for any chatter in the halls and checking in empty rooms to no avail. He was close to giving up, and instead heading in the direction of Cody’s quarters instead when he heard a loud thump, and an equally loud groan from up ahead.
Raising an eyebrow, Skull headed in that direction, preparing himself for an inevitable sight.
He rounded the corner and nearly tripped over something on the floor before he steadied himself and took a step back.
On the floor, General Kenobi sat with his back pinned to the wall, knees raised to his chest, and head hanging downward. Beside him, Cody sat with an arm extended, tissue in hand. He was pressing the tissue against a bloody gash that grazed the side of Obi-Wan’s forehead.
“Skull?” Cody murmured, eyes hazy when he looked up at Skull.
“Yeah that’s me. What the hell happened?” He crouched down, placing his kit on the floor.
Obi-Wan didn’t move, just kept his head lowered between his knees. Skull opened his kit, already reaching for gauze to replace the tissue.
“Um–” Cody averted his eyes, then closed them, “I don’t think I wanna say.” The words were slurred out, indicating Cody had more to drink than he usually did. Skull was confused by the answer.
“Why not?” He asked, then gently tapped on Kenobi’s shoulder, earning a groan from the man.
“Just– don’t want to say.” Cody answered in a whisper, head lolling to the side and eyes closing. Cody was tired– clearly– and Skull was beginning to think he wouldn’t be useful at all when it came to extracting information. Instead, he decided to focus his attention on Kenobi.
“Cody, can you hold this against his head instead?” He held out the gauze. Cody took it and and shakily placed it against the still mildly bleeding wound. Skull wasn’t worried, it looked like it was beginning to clot, but before he could use bacta, it needed to stop. “And Sir, can you look at me?”
Skull touched Obi-Wan’s shoulder again with a gentle hand, trying to coax him to look up.
Another groan.
Skull waited a moment, contemplating trying to press his hand underneath the General’s chin to pull his head upward, but Kenobi very slowly began to raise his head.
Skull wasn’t sure what he was expecting, but it wasn’t for the General to look so… confused?
“Erm– Skull?” Kenobi asked innocently, almost like he had not heard the conversation Skull and Cody had been having over his head for several minutes. He was squinting, not quite looking at Skull’s eyes. Blurry vision, Skull made a mental note.
“Yes. Sir, how are you feeling? You have quite the gash there.” Skull pointed toward the gash where Cody still held the gauze. Skull was sure it was done bleeding, but if it was keeping Cody occupied for the time being, he wasn’t going to tell him to stop.
“...not good.” Kenobi answered after a long pause, and shifted uncomfortably.
Great. Wonderful detailed description Kenobi.
Skull sighed, “In what way, General?” He hoped whatever effect the alcohol was having on the conversation wasn’t going to render Kenobi as useless as Cody had been.
“Don’t feel good,” Kenobi repeated, then, without warning, turned away from Cody and vomited just a few inches away from Skull’s shoes.
Oh kriffing hells.
Skull held his breath for a second waiting for a second retch, but thankfully, it didn’t come and Kenobi sat back up slightly. Cody looked on with something like confusion, sympathy, and disgust written on his face. Skull knew the Commander didn’t have a particularly high tolerance for watching others vomit.
“Cody, go over there and comm a janitor.” Skull demanded, pointing down the hall. Cody didn’t move for a moment, then seemed to decide getting away from the alcoholic smelling vomit was a better idea.
With him out of the way, Skull pulled out the extra disposable towels he kept in his medkit and placed a few over top of the puddle and used another to wipe Kenobi’s lips off. Usually he would hand it over to the General himself, but it didn’t seem like Kenobi was very much in control of his own movements.
Well, at least he knew one of the symptoms included in not feeling good.
Making quick work with the tube of bacta and a small bandage, Skull covered the gash on the side of Kenobi’s head.
“Alright, General. Other than nausea, why else don’t you feel good? What hurts?” He simplified the question, hoping a direct answer might result.
“Just–” Kenobi cleared his throat, and screwed his eyes shut, “It’s bright.” He settled on after a moment. “Head hurts. ”
“Did you hit your head? Is that how you got that?” Skull pointed at the gash and Kenobi looked confused.
“What?” He reached up and touched his head, “Oh.”
“Did you hit your head?” Skull asked again and Kenobi looked no less confused, so Skull turned toward Cody who now stood looming over the two of them, already done with comming the janitor. “Cody– did he hit his head pretty hard?” Skull repeated to the Commander.
“Yes.” Finally, a straight answer.
Skull had already made the mental conclusion that what he was most likely looking at was a concussion, but it helped to have an explanation for how it happened.
“How hard? And against what?” Cody swayed on his feet and stared at Skull with a wide-eyed, unblinking expression.
“Um– yes hard.” Skull looked at him expectantly, and cleared his own throat.
“Alright,” Skull began when Cody offered no further explanation; he was going to have to ask again once they had gotten the General back to his quarters and comfortable before he tried to ask again, “Help me get him up, then. We need to get him laying down before I head back to the medbay for a stretcher.”
Cody’s eyes somehow got even wider, “A stretcher?” He slurred out.
“Yes– seems he’s got a concussion. I’ll need to run a scan on him to see if there is any bleeding in his brain.”
“He’s not bleeding anymore.” Cody said. Skull ran a palm over his face and ignored the drunk idiocy that rolled out of Cody’s mouth. Really, he wasn’t in the mood.
“Just– help me.” Skull demanded, and hooked a hand under Obi-Wan’s armpit, coercing Cody into doing the same.
Obi-Wan immediately scrunched his eyes closed, a slight whimper emerging from him as soon as they lifted him into a standing position. “Feeling alright, Sir?” Skull asked, though he knew the answer was probably no.
“Dizzy.” Kenobi answered and kept his eyes shut. “Need’a sit.” His words came out slowly, and he attempted to bat away Skull’s arm where it was hooked over his shoulders.
“Sorry, Sir, but we need to get you to your quarters. Just a short walk away.” Skull hated to have to make him walk, but he wasn’t about to leave the drunk and concussed General on the hallway floor for anyone to see.
In Kenobi’s own words, that would be rather undignified.
So, Skull and Cody pulled him towards his rooms. The General barely reacted, his feet unsteady beneath him as they brought him into his quarters, heading straight for the bed.
Skull helped Kenobi to sit, demanding Cody just sit on the bed and wait for me to get back.
He positioned a trash can between the General’s feet and quickly left to head toward the medbay to retrieve a stretcher. To his surprise, he was able to make it there and back in only twenty minutes, and in another ten, following another round of retching, they were headed toward the medbay.
“Cody– I’m asking again now because in about two hours you definitely won’t tell me– what the kriff happened?” Skull stood with his arms crossed just outside of the room where Obi-Wan was receiving his scan. Skull pointed to a chair when Cody stumbled over his own feet.
Cody sat heavily, an unusually dramatic sigh leaving his lips, “We didn’t mean for it to happen…” Cody muttered, words trailing off.
“I’ll ask Waxer if you won’t say.” Skull threatened when Cody’s sentence did not continue. Skull crossed his arms over his chest and waited with as neutral of an expression as he could manage.
“Fine. Fine.” Cody began with a huff, “You know the tables? The round ones that are–”
“Yes, Cody, I know of the karking tables in the refectory. Cody blinked rapidly, turned his head to the side, and then continued like Skull had never interrupted.
“I guess we were um– kissing– on top of one.” Cody’s voice was quiet and his eyes were trained on the floor between his feet. Skull could hardly hold in his shock. While a number of the vode in 212th knew that Cody and the General were a couple, many did not; it wasn’t exactly advertised information. Of course, if they had been publicly making out in the refectory, now the whole kriffing 212th knew.
Not-drunk Cody was going to have an absolute fit.
Skull was going to have a fucking field day.
Holding in his laughter and schooling his expression, Skull continued, “And?”
“And Obi-Wan might have… fallen off? Backwards.” While Skull was equally amused with Cody and Kenobi unintentionally outing their relationship, he wasn’t quite as amused with the information of how exactly Kenobi had sustained his concussion.
“You know, Cody, I thought you and Kenobi were a little more responsible than everyone else, but I stand corrected.” Skull said, shaking his head. He watched Cody’s lips sink into a deep frown, eyes screwed shut.
Then, unexpectedly, Cody’s eyes opened again and tears slid down his cheeks rapidly. He sniffled and wiped away the tears with the backs of his hands.
If Skull had been shocked before, he was even more shocked now.
Cody was a weepy drunk.
“Cody, It’s alright.” Skull managed to say, hoping it would soothe his alcohol-addled brain. “It’s not just your fault.”
Skull went to stand next to him, placing a comforting hand on his back. After a couple of minutes, Cody stopped and looked up, frown still written on his face and eyes red, “Is he almost done?” The Commander asked.
“Soon.” Skull answered with a sigh.
It was another twenty minutes before Kenobi’s CT scan was complete and Skull looked over the results the second it finished. He’d set the General up in the nearest room and guided Cody inside to sit with him while he reviewed the results.
To Skull’s relief, there wasn’t any bleeding in the General’s brain. He had been worried by the state of Kenobi in the hallway, but alcohol had certainly contributed to making the concussion seem worse than it was. Regardless, he knew Kenobi was bound to complain about the five days of bedrest that Skull was going to impose on him.
“So no bleeding in the brain, but we will need to talk about care tomorrow morning when you both are sobered up. Now– let me take you back to Kenobi’s quarters.” Skull offered the General a hoverchair and a mask to keep out the brightness of the hallway lights. To Skull’s surprise, he accepted without complaint, other than a disapproving grunt.
The walk was silent for the most part, save for an occasional half-assed question from Cody, and Skull was more than happy to watch the pair settle into the General’s bunk. While it was as disgusting as usual to watch them curled up in each other’s arms, Skull was willing to give them a pass since they weren’t quite aware of how blatant they were being.
Skull grabbed a glass of water for Kenobi from the kitchenette, forced him to drink half of it, inserted a hypo of a light painkiller into his neck, and made an exit with an eye on the clock on his way out.
Skull cursed under his breath and sluggishly made for his rooms, eyes closing for a few seconds here and there as he walked.
Wasting no time, he set an alarm for five hours later and crawled into bed.
Cody felt sick the second his eyes opened. Nausea swelled in his chest as he lurched from the bed, making for the refresher without a second thought.
He emptied the contents of his stomach into the toilet the second his knees hit the floor and found that all that came out was a liquidy substance that smelled something like a mix between acid and alcohol.
Right. Alcohol.
Cody groaned, head pulsing as he remembered the events of the night before. He’d had at least three too many, but it wasn’t enough to make him forget everything.
Obi-Wan. The party. The concussion. Skull.
It flooded back with a river of shame. Typically he wouldn’t drink more than two or three beers, and that was if he did drink, but somehow Waxer convinced him to try some Corellian Vodka he’d purchased.
It turned out Corellian Vodka was stronger than other types. Cody mentally reminded himself to murder Waxer the next time he got the opportunity.
Cody stood, nausea somewhat at bay, and hobbled to Obi-Wan’s bunk to find him still fast asleep on his back. He flicked on the light and sat on the edge of the bed, hand crawling up to look underneath the plaster across the side of Obi-Wan’s head.
Beneath it, the skin had mostly healed, but Cody could see the outline of a gash and large red mark that would certainly evolve into a bruise. Cody replaced the bandage and was about to try and find a bottle of painkillers when he heard a gentle knock on the door.
Mind still foggy, he trudged to the door and flung it open. He wasn’t quite sure what he was expecting, but it certainly wasn’t Skull who was armed with a medkit and a tray with two to-go cups in it.
“Morning, sunshine.” Skull muttered with false-cheeriness and a smug smile that Cody still hated with a passion. “Going to let me in?”
Cody wished he had the energy to protest, or even slam the door back in Skull’s face, but instead, he stepped aside.
Skull headed straight for the bed and placed the medkit where Cody had been laying before. “I’m not sure how much you remember, but Obi-Wan got a concussion last night.” The medic rifled through the kit, then produced an IV kit and what Cody could tell was a hydration pack.
“I remember.” Cody muttered, his voice more gruff than usual, “And you’re here for what reason?” He said, sitting at the bottom of the bed by Obi-Wan’s feet.
“To give you some instructions for care. He’ll be on bedrest for five days.” Skull said and Cody watched him make quick work of pulling Obi-Wan’s arm out from underneath the covers to fix the IV. Just then, Obi-Wan’s eyes fluttered open. He immediately squinted, then covered his eyes with his hands.
“Kriff.” Obi-Wan swore, and Cody’s eyebrows rose without his permission; Obi-Wan hardly swore.
In an almost comical repetition of events, Obi-Wan ripped his arm away from Skull and tumbled out of bed on unsteady feet to head toward the refresher.
On any other day, Cody would have followed him there to rub circles onto his back, but this time his own stomach would betray him. Instead, he stayed put and watched Skull shake his head.
“What?” Cody bit out shortly from between his teeth.
“The two of you are going to be the death of me.” Skull said, tone matter-of-fact, then shrugged.
Cody cringed at the sound of Obi-Wan’s own stomach contents being expelled into the toilet.
A minute later, Obi-Wan appeared from the fresher. Underneath his eyes there were dark blue circles, and his face was much paler than usual. He continued to squint, which prompted Skull to flick off the overhead light in exchange for the dim lamp on the bedside table.
“Welcome to the land of the living, Sir.” Skull said, and Obi-Wan grimaced as he settled back into the bed, “To catch you up, you have a concussion, and you’re hung over. Now, Cody, get his tunics off, will you?” Skull continued and he fiddled with something in his medkit again.
Cody did as requested, even as a headache pounded inside of his skull. He was sure whatever Obi-Wan’s head felt like was millions of times worse.
Obi-Wan let out a soft whimper as Cody helped him.
“It’s alright.” Cody whispered in his ear, low enough Skull wouldn’t hear and gently ran a hand through the unruly strands of copper hair on Obi-Wan’s head. Obi-Wan practically melted into his touch and Cody felt bad when he pulled away.
“How are you feeling this morning, Sir?” Skull asked as he fixed the IV in Obi-Wan’s arm and attached the hydration pack to a portable pole he’d produced from his medkit.
“Quite… bad, actually. My head hurts.” Skull snorted softly. Cody watched Obi-Wan take fistfulls of his hair, his breathing uneven and pained.
Skull said something else, something Cody wasn’t paying attention as he tried to work out what had exactly happened to cause the concussion. He racked his brain for what felt like hours, but came up short. He recalled being in the refectory, and surrounded by many drunk brothers, but there was no clear picture of anything that stood out to him.
“Cody?” He heard suddenly, and Skull was looking at him, unblinking.
“Oh– um, sorry.” Cody murmured and cleared his throat when his words continued to come out in a deep grumbled tone.
“I just need you to listen for another moment.” Skull said. “Now– make sure he’s resting and sleeping, and keep him hydrated. I’ve brought you caf and Kenobi a decaffeinated tea to start. He can have one of these hypos each day for three days, then just regular painkillers should do the trick. Also, keep the lights dim or off. No datapads, Kenobi.” Skull handed Cody a plastic bag with the three hypos, “Any questions?”
Cody didn’t say anything, just shook his head, and immediately regretted it when pain spread up his neck.
“Great.” Skull stood and snapped his medkit closed, then briskly headed for the door, “Oh, and one more thing, Cody.”
There was that smug smile again, the one Cody couldn’t stand on a normal day and especially not when a hangover was involved. Cody narrowed his eyes.
“Seeing as you haven’t mentioned it yet, I though maybe I’d enlighten you to how exactly the concussion happened.” Cody’s heart skipped a beat. “You told me last night you and the General were making out in the refectory, on a table, and Kenobi fell off.”
Kriff. Fucking kriff it all.
Skull said the words flatly, like they didn’t shock Cody to his very core.
The whole 212th knew now. Everyone knew.
“Fuck!” Cody loudly groaned into his hands, ignoring the way Obi-Wan winced.
“See you later, boys.” Skull called as the door slid closed behind him.
Fuck, Cody didn’t know who to murder first, Skull or his entire battalion.

@codywanfirstkissbingo: kiss of life
It shouldn't be like this. He had plans. Dreams.
He'd thought of a gentle kiss shared one late night when the hum of companionship and longing looks spilled over. Lips tasting of herbal tea and ration bars.
Or, hidden away in a dark corner of Coruscant on a rare shore leave, they'd find comfort in giving into what they've both wanted for so long. Hands tangled in hair, remnants of their meal licked from blisteringly hot mouths, not a care in the world.
Perhaps they'd wait till after the war. Reach for one another amidst cheers and find joy and relief in their embrace and long awaited kiss.
Instead, he presses his lips to Obi-Wan's for the first time and does his best to breathe life into unresponsive lips and lungs. He can't ignore the acrid taste of blood and ash. There's nothing but terror and heartache lancing his chest.
'Not like this', he thinks, a hot tear running down his cheek. 'Please, stay with me.'

Several Sentence Sunday
A sneak peek at some whump for Febuwhump. I made Obi-Wan the immortal for a past whump fic, so this time it’s Cody’s turn, and Obi-Wan gets to be the one who comes back in multiple lives. In the life shown here, Obi-Wan was not found by the Jedi but ended up enslaved and was recently freed by Cody and his brothers.
“I got you some tea. This one is supposed to help with sleep.”
Cody set the small box on the table, keeping his distance as he always did, ever mindful of respecting Obi-Wan’s space. Obi-Wan could feel the care in the gift and appreciated the gesture given his struggle with nightmares, but he was uncertain as to how he should proceed as he had never been presented with the opportunity to drink much beyond water. “I have never had tea. Will you show me how to prepare it?”
Shock rippled through the Force followed by deep sorrow and guilt before Cody wrapped his shields so tightly around himself Obi-Wan could feel nothing from him save the barest hint of sunshine warmth that made him long to reach out and draw Cody closer so that he could once more be awash in his light. Instead, he watched as Cody took a kettle down from a shelf, drifting nearer as he went through the motions of preparing the tea. Obi-Wan’s eyes caught on a small chip on the lid, and something possessed him to snatch it up and run his finger over it, and he felt laughter and love bubble up in his mind, the echo of memories from long ago brushing against his thoughts but not revealing themselves.
When he glanced up, a tear slid down Cody’s cheek, and Obi-Wan realized there was something at play he was missing, something in the way Cody watched him and knew him better than he knew himself, something in the crystal he had tied around his neck, something in the familiarity of the teapot now heating on the stove, something that ran so deep it transcended time and space. He did not know how to put words to the feeling, but he knew he wanted to soothe the pain in Cody’s chest, even as Cody tried desperately to hold together shattering shields. He brushed his fingers over the kyber that sat beside Cody’s heart, and a shiver ran down his spine as a real memory crystallized in his mind, the two of them in this very kitchen partaking in this same ritual. But the Cody there didn’t ache, and the Obi-Wan in his vision was healthy and whole, smiling sheepishly as he held up a newly chipped teapot lid.
“We’re supposed to protect the Jedi. I’m supposed to protect you. And I didn’t even know you weren’t safe. I’m sorry, Obi-Wan. I’m so sorry.”

Solitary Confinement
[read on ao3][Febuwhump prompt: Solitary Confinement]
After being captured alongside General Kenobi by the Seppies, Cody holds out hope that rescue will arrive in time.
Tumblr media
Characters: CC-2224|Cody, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano Word count: 1575
Tumblr media
The cell is damp and near-freezing. With Cody's vision robbed by whatever contraption they'd bolted over his eyes, his other senses have sharpened. He has to be careful not to breathe with his mouth open. The smell of rot and open sewage had him gagging when they first dragged him into the stronghold. He's gotten used to it. Mostly. It's only gotten stronger in the last few days.
Soft tapping from the other side of the room is the only point of contact he has with General Kenobi.
"Take heart, Cody. The beacon was launched before we were captured. I don't expect we'll be here long." General Kenobi gives him one last encouraging smile from the floor, his wrists chained above his head, before the clankers bring out the drill and start attaching the metal blinder to his temples. "This should be entertaining at least, my dear."
Their chains give them just enough leeway to stand, though if they do it more than a few times an hour they're shocked into unconsciousness. It happens if they speak, too, which seems idiotic as the Seppies would have a better chance of overhearing something than extracting it. He marks the days by torture sessions; by his best estimate, there's a full rotation between visits. The chains hum and go warm with promised electricity. The door opens and one of them is dragged out of their cell for uncountable minutes to be interrogated.
Cody much prefers being strapped down to the table over his General. At least he knows what's going on when a droid asks him for GAR secrets in a monotone buzz, right before the needles go into his neck and what feels like acid fills his veins. Its agony, but they'd started training him to withstand torture at five. At least when they're torturing him he can breathe.
The waiting is the worst. Those dreadful seconds when metal footsteps approach them and he doesn't know who they'll choose are worse than anything they can inject him with. General Kenobi has no such training, just his strength of will, and while it's indomitable, Cody knows it will give out eventually.
Maybe that's why they haven't taken him for three days. Kenobi taps on his chains every few minutes so Cody knows he's still alive, but he can't hear the reassuring sound of his Jedi breathing over his heart's own drumbeat pounding in his ears. There's nothing else to hear in the gluttonous, bloated silence.
He's dehydrated. Water wasn't provided—deemed unnecessary when every day the droids held his head under a steady stream of it until he passed out—but they haven't been fed since they arrived. Not food, anyway, just leathery balls of surprisingly sweet jelly during their torture sessions. They get angry when he chews them, so he keeps doing it, figuring it's the right call. His stomach cramps violently, squeezing acid up into his throat and eroding delicate tissue. His body is starting to cannibalize itself. Every torture session leaves him weaker, but it doesn't matter. He will survive, force his heart to keep pumping blood even when every other bit of him wastes away, because that's what he was made for. He's a Marshall Commander to a High General, not some wet-behind-his-ears shiny who's never known a night without Kamino's thunder. He knows how to withstand any torture, no matter how brutal.
Kenobi taps again. Cody taps back. It's all they can manage. It's enough to keep going.
Take heart, Cody.
He will. He'll let them rip him up from the inside out if that's what it takes, but he will not lose hope. Not if his General still needs him.
He feels the hum of electricity in his teeth right before his chains warm and come alive again. He steels himself. Any moment the door will open. They'll drag him off again to ask the same questions that he won't answer, flay him like a nerf left to rot in the sun, then throw him back in his cell once they deem it to be another wasted day.
The door doesn't open. Instead, the chains go cold. Cody frowns; that's never happened before. The floor vibrates, and he's thrown violently to the side with the force of an explosion somewhere below them. The rushing roar of blood in his ears intensifies. "General Kenobi?" he whispers, taking a chance that their captors are occupied with whatever the hell that was. He can't speak properly anyway. Between the screaming and the stomach acid, his voice is virtually gone. "Can you hear me, General?"
Kenobi taps again, unwilling to risk it. Cody accidentally sucks a deep breath in, gagging from the stench of rot. It's all he can do to not vomit, even though he doesn't have anything to bring up except acid. He ignores the burning in his throat. DC-17 carbine fire echos through the vents, a song as reassuring as a mother's lullaby to a clone trooper. "They're here, General," he says, adrenaline jumpstarting his weak heart. "We did it." We survived.
Kenobi taps again.
Waiting for his brothers to find them is more painful than anything their captors have put him through. He can hear boots thumping, blaster fire getting closer, the hum of a swinging lightsaber. He twitches in his chains, weak muscles begging to join the fight. Who came, the 212th? Undoubtedly they'd come in some capacity, but he would hazard a guess that there's a fair amount of blue mixed in the golden orange. Skywalker never was one to sit on his hands and wait patiently where General Kenobi was concerned.
"Just hang on, General. They're almost here." Cody licks lips that taste like sour old iron. First thing he's going to do after seeing to his General and getting debriefed is grab the bottle of tihaar he confiscated from Wooley. There aren't many perks of being in command, but if he had to make a list then sampling the contraband for “safety reasons” would definitely be near the top.
The blaster fire gets closer, along with the subsonic buzz of a lit saber. Cody fidgets in his cross-legged sit, his legs on fire and cramped from being bent for days, barely able to contain himself. The door beeps and slides open. Cold air that smells like corpses is sucked into the room, shocking him. He hears a single, sharp inhale, high-pitched and young. "Cody?" a trembling voice asks after a few pregnant seconds.
"Commander Tano," Cody rasps. The words scrape his throat like rusty sheet metal.
The sound of her footsteps scuff across the floor. "Oh, Force, what is this?" She touches the metal band that the droids had bolted into his skull. He jerks in his chains as a lightning bolt of sharp pain zaps through his temples, accidentally smacking his head against the wall as he does. "It's okay. Don't move, everything is going to be fine." Her commlink beeps. "Rex, cell 117. I found them. I need a medic here, now." Her voice shakes. “E-Everything is going to be okay.”
"General?" Cody tries to clear his throat, tastes blood instead. "It's alright, General, we can talk now. The chains are turned off."
Kenobi taps.
"Don't… don't let Anakin up here." Cody's blood freezes. A soft, trembling hand runs across his brow, mindful of the bolts this time. "We tracked the beacon." Her voice cracks. "We came… we came as fast as we could."
Cody leans into her soft touch, for her comfort as much as his. She's always been so sensitive. "I'm alright, Commander. Go check on General Kenobi."
He hears a humming fwoom. She cuts his chains with her lightsaber, rubbing his bloodless hands briskly like he'd been out in the cold once they're free. "It's going to be okay, Cody," she says again. She's crying.
"General, please say something," Cody says hoarsely. The stench of rotten flesh is so overpowering that he can taste it. "Obi-Wan?" Why hasn't he said anything? Why hasn't he greeted Ahsoka? When did the tapping stop?
The tapping resumes; relief floods his system. "Get off of him!" Her lightsaber ignites, swings, and a wet chitinous thump follows a moment later. "I'm sorry." Ahsoka whispers it over and over again until the words slur together.
Cody reaches up to the metal blinder and starts turning the bolts that keep it attached to his skull with numb fingers. The screws take forever to twist out of his swollen, infected skin, but he doesn't stop even when Ahsoka grabs his wrists and begs him to. He shoves the sobbing girl away and rips the blinder off with an agonizing scream.
It takes a few seconds for his vision to adjust. Even in the near pitch-black his eyes hurt. General Kenobi sits cross-legged exactly where Cody had seen him last. He's still chained to the wall, mottled hands cuffed above his hanging head. A pile of something shiny and wet glistens in his lap.
Cody creeps closer on his hands and knees, unable to trust his weak eyes. His hands slip in the slick blackness that covers that side of the room. The smell of rot and sewage is almost unbearable. Cody reaches out a quivering hand, confirms with a touch what his eyes refuse to see.
The bisected insect that's been eating its way through the General's guts taps weakly on the floor one last time before finally dying with a hiss.

codywan reverse bang team #13: i should tell him i love him
The words fell away as Obi-Wan raised his head. He had been expecting another visit from Cetius only to find his Commander standing in the doorway. He blinked a few times, fearing he was merely hallucinating. “Cody?” “General.” The Commander stared for a moment, trying to think of what to say. I’m glad I found you in time. I’m glad you’re alive. I missed you. I was worried about you. I think I love you. “Did you need a rescue?” “Do you know, Commander?” Obi-Wan tried for a smile and a laugh that turned into a groan as his broken ribs made themselves known. “I just think I might.”
So, I'm unfortunately late (life and death happened) but here is 2/3 of my piece for CWRB '23! Obi-Wan has gotten himself into a situation, and Cody is annoyed and using that to cover up how worried he is.
i would like to thank the mods of @codywanreversebang Serie and Anon for their endless patience, my friends for getting me through a difficult time, and of course my amazing writers Kay @foreverchangingfandomsao3 and Mia who have written a fantastic story for this prompt that you can read here.
I'll see you all soon for Part 3....a Keldabe kiss is imminent 👀 Notes and close-ups sans shadows under the cut:
A consistent light source? Who? I've never heard of her in my entire life.
I swear I didn't mean for there to be Christ-like undertones (I'm not even Christian) but once I had Obi's pose laid out and the light focused on him, I was like "fuck I gotta commit to the space Jesus now".
I originally intended for this to have a much more cartoony style, but the shading on Cody's face got away from me and then I needed to match that level of realism for his whole body, which drastically increased the time taken and I had to scrap all my plans for Obi.
The pose/prompt and Obi's outfit are inspired by Crossfire by Brandon Flowers, a whumper's dream of a music video and also a bop. I had sketched something out about two years ago and ended up adapting it for this idea.
Obi is wearing suspenders and a dress shirt because 1. I hate drawing clothing and knew robes would suck 2. Brandon is wearing that outfit in the video which made an easier reference 3. Suspenders are hot 4. I needed to show the hairy chest
Clip Studio Paint can eat my ass, I'm never upgrading to their bs subscription model.
Ewan and Temuera are some of the most handsome men I've seen in my entire life and no I will not be taking questions.
Here are some close-ups because I want to show off what I did before covering it up with dramatic ass shadows:

Me: okay, guys, you ready to write some whump?
Cody: nah Obi-Wan: yeah, i think we'd rather just (looks at Cody)...kiss? Cody (nodding): kiss. yes. Me: what? no, that's not the scene-- Cody (diving into Obi-Wan's lap): you're not in charge here Obi-Wan (muffled): mm-hmm, this is what we're doing now Me: ಠ_ಠ

Winter Whumperland Day 9: Jólakötturinn (Left Behind)
Fandom: Star Wars The Clone Wars
Summary: After Obi-wan and Cody are assumed to be dead and left behind, Obi-wan tries to find a way for the two to survive
Part 2: soon.
It was snowing. Battles in the snow were always somewhat strange. The snow was so elegant and pure yet so deadly. The stains in the snow as well as the footsteps had become something of a warning.
But as the others retreated, Cody wasn't sure what to do. He could barely move. He felt so cold. The snow fell around him, making him look like just another body in the snow.
He needed to get the general to safety. After the clone had been shot, Kenobi stayed near him. He had called for a medic but not to long after, he was shot in the side.
It was unusual for a Jedi to get shot when on the battle field. He had to have been destacted. Cody feared he had been why. They were close, too close for a Jedi to be with someone.
The man tried to call out for someone. His voice never left his throat. It had been a while. Medics had never gotten the chance to find them. The droids hadn't moved forwards yet.
Kenobi regained consciousness. He tried to look around. All he saw at first were bodies. When his eyes landed on Cody, he panicked at first. Then he saw him shift. He was alive at the very least.
"Co-Cody?" His voice shook as he shivered.
The voice brought comfort to Cody. He hadn't even realized Obi-wan was alive. Once more he tried to speak. He tried to stand or even sit up but slipped back into the snow.
Obi-wan looked around again. He realized they had been left behind. But they were alive. Now the two were on their own. He looked down at his injury then back to Cody. He needed to get over there.
Slowly he tried to stand. After a moment, Obi-wan was able to get on his feet. He only walked a few steps before falling to his knees in pain. He half dragged himself the other few feet.
    "Dear?"
Cody looked at him. Again the Jedi looked around. The forest wasn't far. The droids would be less likely to find them there. But so would anyone else. Then again, I was likely no one was going to look for them anyway.
It was terrifying. They were alone now. It was cold, they were hurt, and there was no saying if the separatist would take prisoners or if they would kill them on the spot. More than likely, taking a Jedi would be more likely than taking a clone as well.
It looked like it was getting darker. The forest was their best bet for survival. So Obi-wan grabbed Cody's arm and started to drag him to the woods. He barely knew what was going on. The snow would hopefully cover their tracks.
It was painful, for both of them. It took a while to get into the forest and far enough away for Obi-wan to be comfortable resting. When they finally stopped, Kenobi collapsed.
Time passed and he woke up again. It was night now and there were clear sounds of battle droids nearby. Obi-wan looked at Cody. He saw the steady rise and fall of his chest, though he was nervous he was breathing too slowly.
Gently, Obi-wan draped his cloak over the other. He leaned against a tree and pulled him onto his lap, hoping their body heat together could help them.
There was nothing else to think about. The Jedi was left to grapple with the feeling of betrayal by the others. Cody and him were still alive. The two had done so much and had given up everything they could to keep the others alive. Now they were alone in the cold.
But Obi-wan also knew they had to. If they hadn't left them behind, someone could have died. They had to have thought that they had been killed. It was the only answer that brought any sort of comfort to the general.
It didn't change the fact that it hurt. It hurt in the same way the snow against his fingers hurt.
Frostbite was inevitable at that point. Hyperthermia would follow. It was freezing. Obi-wan laid his head against the tree and sighed. He watched his breath disappear. He looked down at Cody.
He was still alive. He hoped the same thing would be true come morning. There was nothing else he could do for now.
A few hours later, Obi-wan was still awake. He couldn't find a way to sleep. There was too much to try and plan for. Getting them out of there in the condition he was in felt impossible. He felt Cody shift. He looked down, tears in his eyes.
As they fell, his face burned. "I don't know what to do" he told Cody. "I'm so sorry."
The clone raised a shaky hand up to the other's face. He tried to dry his tears. Obi-wan smiled slightly. He took Cody's hand in his own and held it. It was more life than he had shown previously so that was at least something. Maybe morning would be kinder to them.

Obi-Wan Hurt/Comfort and Whump Rec 1: Long Fics
Some of my favorite multi-chaptered or longer form fics (>10K). These are whump, sickfics, angst fics, and hurt/comfort with some very general tags and descriptions. Please make sure you note the tags on ao3 before reading.
I tried to tag everyone I could find here on tumblr, but if you see your fic and want a tag, let me know and I'll add it in. To all the writers, thank you for these fics, I have read each of them multiple times and I am fucking in love with all of them.
Here we go, in no particular order:
Good Man of War - scrapathon
Codywan, OC clones and medics, 16.2K
This fic is so well written and it has some really well-characterized OC clones, including clone medic Zero, as well as a bit of codywan (which I can't resist).
Things Hidden, Things Forgotten- sospes
Codywan, Zygerria/Kadavo arc, 23.5K
This writer has some of the best codywan fics on their roster, but this one absolutely destroys me everytime. This fic covers Zygerria and gets into some of the emotional aspects of the experience for Obi-Wan.
Shoulder the Sky - @kcrabb88
Quinobi, rewritten ending for Palpatine, 149.4K
This fic is part one of the Shoulder the Sky Verse series and is one of my favorite fics of all time. This fic is incredibly detailed, and every character get's their time in the spotlight. The Obi-Wan whump is absolutely delicious, and lasts basically the entirety of this fic. The plot follows Obi-Wan's discovery of the identity of Darth Sidious and how this changes the course of the end days of the Clone Wars.
Whispers from the Dead - @kcrabb88
Quinobi, PTSD and medical trauma, 210K as of 8.14.2023 (WIP)
Another part of the Shoulder the Sky Verse series (please read the fic above first). This fic is a WIP and every time there is a new chapter I drop everything to read it. Equally as emotionally damaging, equally as much whump, and equally perfect characterizations of every single character. I won't spoil the plot, but it's a perfect continuation of the series.
Gaping Hollow - Walpger
Gen - Obi-Wan, Cody, and Ahsoka, Force-exhaustion and hypothermia, 18.1K
Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and Cody are trapped in a cave on the ice-planet Vandor and Obi-Wan uses the Force to keep them both warm and alive. This leads to impending Force-exhaustion. This is one of the earliest Obi-Wan-centric h/c fics I read and I love how the author describes Obi-Wan's use of the Force.
Enforced Convalescence - @swbumblebee
Gen - Obi-Wan, clones, and Jedi, sickfic/illness and fluff, 12.5K
Obi-Wan is ill and requires babysitting because he doesn't really know how to rest. This fic is endlessly soft, and Obi-Wan gets taken care of for once in his life. This author writes delightfully soft fics and this one is one of my absolute favorites.
Uja Nejah - @ijustreallylovedaredevil
Gen - Obi-Wan, OC clone medic Stim, clone troopers, Cody, diabetes and medical accuracy, 34.2K
Possibly my favorite fic of all time? Perhaps? Anything by whitchry9 is pure gold and this fic is only one example. This fic follows Obi-Wan's journey through his life as a Jedi diagnosed with diabetes. Deliciously whump, and my favorite OC clone medic, stim. You might as well read the whole series: a series of fics in which Obi Wan Kenobi having a disability somehow saves the galaxy
Iviin’hiibi te Tuur - @ijustreallylovedaredevil
Gen - Obi-Wan, OC clone medic Stim, clone troopers, Cody, epilepsy and medical accuracy, 16.4K
Surprise, surprise, yet another whitchry9 fic. This one is about Obi-Wan's life with epilepsy. This fic also has Stim and has a few extra oneshots that can be read with it.
every shadow - @kenobster
Gen - Obi-Wan, Anakin, Rex, Ahsoka, Cody, 501st, Zygerria/Kadavo arc and recovery, 34.9K as of 8.14.2023 (WIP)
This fic is a WIP and at 3/9 chapters, so I am going to to use part of the author's summary here: "during the mass casualty event following Kadavo and Zygerria, Obi-Wan and Anakin seek ways to cope with trauma." I am absolutely glued to this fic, and have already read all three chapters multiple times.
Finding Obi-Wan - @stolen-pen-name23
Gen - Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka, amnesia and angst, 86.8K
For the record, I think I read the entirety of this fic in one day because I just couldn't put it down. In this fic, Obi-Wan loses his memory and finds himself in the lower levels of Coruscant.
something inside this heart has died (you're in ruins) - revanchxst (BadWolfGirl01)
Codywan (implied or pre-slash), Zygerria/Kadavo arc, 22.6K
In this fic, Cody joins Obi-wan on the Zygerria arc rather than Rex. Very painful with a sprinkling of codywan. 1000 kudos for this fic.
The Consequences of a Crash - happygiraffe
Gen or pre-slash Obi-Wan & Anakin, crash-landing injury/infection, 44.9K
ALRIGHT. Alright. This is the first long-fic I read in this fandom, and remains one of my favorites to this day. Delicious whump, a really wonderful look at Obi-Wan and Anakin's relationship, especially as Anakin has just become a Jedi Knight. I reread this one at least once a month.
See My Dreams All Die - @hellotemporaryuniverse
Obi-Wan & Cody (implied codywan), torture by Darth Sidious, 34.7K
This fic is absolutely brutal in the best way. In this fic, Anakin dies and Sidious is looking for a new apprentice. Such good whump.
From the Same Stone - @kckenobi
Gen - Obi-Wan & Anakin, concussion and poisoning, 8.1K
I'm already breaking my own rules, because this fic is under 10K, but this fic is one of my favorites and it's just long enough that it felt like it should be included on this list. In this fic, Obi-Wan and Anakin get trapped in a mine and are slowly ingesting a toxin.
|to failure, sweet victor| - littlekaracan
Codywan, angst and physical fights, 20K
This fic is as fucking bittersweet as it gets. Absolutely destroys me with every read. This fic follows Obi-Wan and Cody on Tatooine, but Cody's chip can't be removed until it has deteriorated to a certain point. As a result, sometimes Cody isn't quite himself.
battle scars - series - @calltomuster
Gen - Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and Anakin, PTSD and medical trauma, 27.2K
This series gets into some of Obi-Wan's medical trauma and why avoids medical treatment. I can't get enough of the OC clone medic, Fuzzy, and I love how well the author writes Obi-Wan's PTSD.
shoulder the sky - series - Night_Fury
Codywan, Cerasi & Obi-Wan Kenobi & Nield, Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan, PTSD, temporary death, recovery, 196.1K
What can I say about this series? Probably too much. You will just need to read it to find out. Just read it.
chronic conditions - @deniigi
Codywan and clones, epilepsy and chronic illness, 13.1K
Yet another epileptic Obi-wan fic, this one through the lens of Kix and Cody. I am absolutely mesmerized by how this author writes, and I keep going back to this one over and over again.
Six Times Ahsoka Thought Her Grandmaster Was Dead, and the One Time He Actually Was - @pandora15 and lazarusII
Gen - Obi-Wan & Ahsoka, deathfic, 12.3K
The title says it all. You will be in pain.
heavy off a golden hue - @catboydogma
Codywan, hanahaki and chronic illness, 36.7K
This is a series which looks at Obi-Wan's life with chronic Hanahaki. This is such an amazing series, another set of fics I read in one sit-down.
Suddenly this is defeat - ealcynn
Gen, Landing at Point Rain and major injury, 13.3K
This fic is in first-person POV and does an incredible job of portraying Obi-Wan's perspective on the events based on the episode Landing at Point Rain.
This incessant snow - ealcynn
Gen, Landing at Point Rain and major injury, 20.7K
Part two to the above fic. Another extremely well-written fic. I absolutely adore the way Obi-Wan is written.
We Can Be Beautiful - OuzoAthena11
Codywan, panic attacks, 23.2K
The fic summary on ao3 says it best, "Five times Obi-Wan deals with anxiety or a panic attack and one time he causes minor anxiety in someone else." Really well written and soft fic.
Count My Little Scars I've Got Dozens Inside - nuclearturtle
Codywan (as adults), angst and de-aging, 27.1K
A de-aged Obi-Wan fic where Dooku attempts to gain his trust, but inevitably, doesn't. Very angsty. Extremely angsty.
Conjuring Miracles - @kcrabb88
Gen - Obi-Wan, Leia, Tala, Vader, PTSD, 29.8K
Another one by this author. In this fic, Tala doesn't get to Obi-Wan in time, and he ends up being taken with Leia to the the inquisitor base. There, he encounters Vader.
Rapture - @galateagalvanized
Codywan, depowered character, 62.5K
I think the summary on ao3 says it best, "An independent terrorist cell has developed a weapon capable of severing the bond between a Jedi and the Living Force. They test it on High General Obi-Wan Kenobi." Wonderful whump mixed with a great story, and of course, codywan.
Always Gold - happygiraffe
Gen - Obi-Wan & Anakin, terminal illness/cancer, 10K
In this fic, Obi-Wan is dying of cancer and just wants the best for his padawan. Prepare yourself, this one hurts.
As an Obi-Wan whump writer myself, I can't help but throw a couple of my own here (not that these are by any means on par with the quality of the incredible fics above). I have linked a couple below if you are interested:
orbit me slowly
Codywan, burns and recovery, 15.3K
After an injury leaves Obi-Wan down and out, he realizes that time isn't as unlimited as he once believed
green is the colour
Codywan, sickfic and injury, 14K
Obi-Wan, sick with the flu, is cornered by hundreds of droids. Cody and Anakin come to his rescue, but there is unresolved tension between them.
Hope you all enjoy this list!

it's a WIP Wednesday!
@smoosey kindly tagged me for a wip Wednesday and here I am a week later with a snippet from a whumptober prompt >:) (some calm before the whump)
"Darling, there's no need to impress me."
Cody huffs a laugh as he slices through an attack droid with Obi-Wan's lightsaber. He twirls it and disengages it before tossing the hilt to its owner. Obi-Wan lights it and demolishes another droid while Cody pulls out his blaster to shoot the last one circling them. (Force or no, he prefers the precision and distance you can get with a nice blaster.)
"You dropped it, figured someone should get some use out of it," Cody snarks right back. The last attacker falls and the forest goes silent around them.
Obi-Wan approaches him as he clips his lightsaber to his belt. "I didn't drop it," he insists haughtily. There's a streak of grease on his cheek and his hair's askew. "I left it for you."
"Whatever you have to tell yourself," Cody teases. His blaster goes back to his hip and he wipes the sweat from his forehead. It's still strange, not wearing his old bucket and kit, but a good strange. He's not a soldier anymore.
"Perhaps if you got your own, I wouldn't have to share so often," Obi-Wan needles familiarly. He multitasks as he does, pulling up a map on his comm to scan for additional droids or life forms.
They hadn't expected much when they landed on this planet, if only because they'd gone through four others with no fuss. The Jedi Order had been sending them out to locate potential Sith strongholds, merely guessing at possibilities based on rumors and known temple ruins. It seems this time they've hit the jackpot—if there were droids, they were guarding something.
"I'm not a Jedi." Cody's response is just as well worn and flippant. "I don't need a lightsaber."

Obi-Whump Fic Rec
someone asked me for fic recs and I already had it listed out, so I decided to post here! these are some of my fave fics that (for the most part) focus on whump. these are in no particular order. this is not an exhaustive list by any means, I have plenty of more favorites that I have saved but I wouldn’t quite call them whump fics. also, these don’t really encompass a broad variety of whump genres, more like I have a type and that is captivity/torture. yes, i’m a sicko. if I could, I would rec everyone’s whumptober/febuwhump/etc, but maybe I’ll do that separately if there’s enough interest. obviously, there’s some heavy shit on this list, including noncon, so please read the tags and take care of yourself.
without further ado:
A Temporary Mercy by @swranger (6k, M, GDOV, series WIP) - citadel au. so this one is great because if you’re like me you were probably disappointed by the quick save obi et al got in the citadel arc and that he wasn’t...hurt a bit more.
something inside this heart has died (you’re in ruins) by @revanchxst (22k, T,  CCNTUAW, completed) - two things i love, codywan and pain. I was craving a fic where cody replaced rex on kadavo and goddamn this one delivered.
i just wanna keep calling your name (until you come back home) by @revanchxst (15k, T, NAWA, completed) - what if chipped-cody started dreamsharing with obi-wan? this is the first one that’s not quite physical whump but it’s sprinkled in there along with plenty of angst. also there’s a line in here that made me cry so much i have it saved to a widget on my phone.
Recollection by @elwenyere (18k, E, NAWA, completed) - within the first few paragraphs i knew this one was gonna hurt. honorary mention because it’s cody whump and not obi whump but still plenty of pain.
Suns Tempered By Devotion by @come-chaos (15k, E, R/NC, completed) - another one that’s more codywan than whump, but this one is on here because it killed me and i have still not recovered.
In the Line of Duty by shipping_ruined_my_life (5.7k, E, GDOV, completed) - the obi whump exchange was good to us. codywan + the good ole tortured-in-front-of-the-other with a twist!
Offset by @deviantaccumulation (64k, M, GDOV, completed) - i have this one saved as “qui-gon’s alive and dooku’s a bitch”, pretty self explanatory. A+ whump.
Example by @swranger (40k, NR, GDOV, completed) - this would be like christmas if i celebrated it. every new chapter is some horror for obi and i fucking love it.
Dreams by @geodax (2.7k, M, CCNTUAW, completed) - so grievous definitely had some kind of psychosexual obsession for obi and we all know it. this...builds on that :)
Of Teachers and T'ayl'e by @levitatingbiscuits (8.7k, NR, GDOV, WIP) - also not a whump fic per se, but he’s hurt for enough of it that i’m including it. this encompasses everything i love about jangobi.
The Dark Side of Obi-Wan Kenobi Part 1 by @mostthingskenobi (25k, M, GDOV completed) - a post-lawless au with some truly delicious torture.
Conjuring Miracles by @kcrabb88 (30k, M, NAWA, completed) - again, we were deprived of some good whump by the kenobi show when tala shows up miraculously to save him (and vader forgets that he controlled fire like 2 seconds ago). this remedies that beautifully.
See My Dreams All Die by @temporaryuniverse-writing (34k, M, GDOV, completed) - what if obi-wan killed anakin on mustafar, so sidious tried to make him fall instead? plenty of great whump, but also comfort.

Super excited to share this work that I created as a part of the @obiwanwhumpminibang alongside with the lovely artist @lucidlikesthings. This has been a super fun event and I’m excited to participate again in coming years!
(Also - if you don’t read the fic at least check out the art - it’s INCREDIBLE!)
