Latest Chapter of the @codywanreversebang fic is posted! Art is by the wonderfully amazing @cillyscribbles

Boga chirps from her perch slung across Obi-Wan’s shoulders, her wreath of feathers fluttering in the hissing breeze that ruffles the leaves into conspiratorial whispers. Obi-Wan mimics her, settling into the uneasy stillness that he had drawn over his shoulders as the day had darkened into the evening.

Cody should look. He wants to look.

Instead, he watches Obi-Wan.

The breeze runs its fingers through his hair, knocking the copper strands into further disorder and Cody’s fingers ache with the urge to brush them away from the frown indented into Obi-Wan’s brow. He seems to be made of the forest in his dark green tunic, the embroidery muted and twisting around his arms like vines, matching his tattoos, and Cody wonders, if he lost sight of the other man in this strange landscape of twisted shadows and echoing shuffled steps, would Obi-Wan vanish into the darkness that stretches out to embrace him?

He suits the wild expanse of the forest far better than he had Coruscant and Cody shivers at the thought, at the twist of loneliness that pierces through his chest at the knowing what it felt like to leave and be left behind.

“I’m sorry,” Obi-Wan whispers and Cody realises that he had stepped closer, somehow, without him noticing. There is a strange sheen to Obi-Wan’s eyes, something clinging to the deep blue and blotting out the pale constellations Cody wishes to study until he breaks from its longing.

“What for?” Cody answers, trying to regain his footing. It was becoming increasingly frequent, the lapses in concentration, the thoughts of a future that couldn’t be, and he swallows them down, smiling at Obi-Wan instead.

Obi-Wan’s answering grin is quick, a faint blush of colour in his cheeks that Cody couldn’t attribute to the lingering chill. “I should have warned you about the drop in temperature. In truth, I didn’t think of it.”

TEAM #16 - CODYWAN REVERSE BANG PREVIEW POST!

Much excitement today, as this is the official preview for the @codywanreversebang story that I have done in collaboration with the wonderful @sunflowersinheaven who is the amazing artist for this piece!

Due to be posted on July 10th 2022, this is for all you classical Greek Tragedy fans out there ;)

The art preview, as you can see, is above, and here is part of the story preview underneath :)

‘Your death… lead to his death, it will.’

Those words still haunted him.

No matter how much he pushed his past to where it belonged, in the past, he knew those words would always haunt him.

“Cody…” Obi-Wan reached out and took his hand, “… so long as you live, I will live as well. Remember that.”

“You always seem to know what I’m thinking.”

Nudging him with his shoulder, Obi-Wan smirked, “That’s because I know you so well.”

When Cody remained silent, Obi-Wan gently turned him until Cody was looking him right in the eyes. “These are just simple negotiations. There’s no reason for either of us to die.”

Cody had the sinking feeling, that these would be a case of famous final words.

Six months later, there was no leeway on either side.

Obi-Wan was appointed as the main representative of Serenno, with Cody by his side, valiantly ignoring the looks he was getting from his father and friends.

“When are we going to have an actual war?” He overhead Boba speaking, an arrogant sneer in his voice that Cody remembered hearing in his own once upon a time, “This is boring!”

Peering into the room, he saw the Boba was speaking with Anakin, the eighteen-year-old nodding in agreement with what Boba was saying.

Cody had to remind himself that they were just children.

They didn’t think about the destruction and carnage that war brought. They didn’t know that if war did break out, then they would all just be like pieces in a game. Moved around at someone else’s will, with no care for their lives or well-being.

They didn’t know what happened to innocent people when their towns and villages were raided.

They just didn’t know.

“You’re upset about something.” Obi-Wan stated matter-of-factly when Cody returned to their room that evening.

“Hm.” Staring up at the ceiling, Cody sighed, “I just… wonder why we’re only told about the glory and honour in war…never anything more. Never the truth.”

“What’s the saying… the truth hurts. And it’s hard to fight for funding for a war, when you talk about all the suffering that’ll come along with it. No amount of money can help with that.”

Tracing the dotted freckles on Obi-Wan’s shoulder and up his neck, Cody wished they could just hide away from the world. He just knew that Obi-Wan was born for whatever was coming up though.

It was his destiny to be the greatest warrior that ever lived.

“Stop thinking.” Obi-Wan whispered, “Go to sleep.”

It didn’t take long for Obi-Wan to follow his own advice, as Cody took the time to study his face a little longer. Those long lashes that were enchanting, his beauty marks that Cody loved to leave kisses on…. he was beautiful even in his sleep, warm despite the cold light of the moon.

Pressing a gentle kiss to Obi-Wan’s forehead, he closed his eyes, and allowed the pull of sleep to drag him under.

Team #3 - CWRBB PREVIEW

I'm really excited to announce that I participated in @codywanreversebang and was paired with the awesome writer @jonathananubian who's done an amazing job with my art so far! So I hope you guys are just as excited for this preview as I am including a small excerpt from the fic and art sneak peek of what we've been working on so far!

Exerpt:

Ever since leaving Kamino, Cody had a habit. There were many words in the Basic dictionary, words that meant little on their own. But whenever they landed on a new planet he had the pleasure of putting experiences and memories to those words. Furthering his understanding of them and appreciating them as more than just letters on a screen. In this case words like ‘breathtaking,’ ‘serene,’ and ‘idyllic,’ came to mind.

The planet was what the General had described as a ‘temperate rainforest.’ A world that was within very acceptable temperature ranges for humans or near-humans to live in, as long as you didn’t mind all the rain. Thus the ‘rainforest’ part. A forest that was beset by rain for more than half the year.

Thankfully it seemed they’d come in what the General called ‘late spring, early summer.’ Where the rain had all but stopped for the year and the temperature had become its most pleasant. No longer cold but not yet hot enough to boil them in their armor.

Seeing the off-duty vode sloshing about in the wide shallow river he couldn’t help but to let out a small amused huff. It turned into an actual chuckle when Skinner tackled Bolt, who yelped in surprise, and the two of them fell into the water with a large splash.

He sobered a moment later as he turned toward the task at hand. If only his General would take some time off to unwind the way he always encouraged the vode to.

Thinking back to the meeting they’d just held Cody scowled within the safety of his bucket. Lately the General had been looking more and more haggard, although he didn’t think the man had noticed it himself. Nor did he seem to notice all the concerned looks he was receiving from the vode. Being clones, with literally millions of identical brothers, they were well trained in noticing the most minute of details. So every time the bags under the General’s eyes got darker it was impossible not to notice.

Shaking himself internally he turned away from the scene of vode blowing off steam and pushed himself to focus on the task at hand.

The General had suggested they do a wider sweep of the area around their camp, just in case, and he had agreed wholeheartedly. Of course he didn’t think the General had quite meant that Cody himself should do the scouting, but well- he liked getting a good look for himself. Maps could only show so much, whereas a good pair of eyes and instincts could glean far more information. While he trusted his scouts, sometimes it was nice to get away from command for a short time and see what he had to work with.

As the other scouts gathered at his position he tapped into their frequency. ::I want frequent check-ins at half hour intervals. Syncing chronos in… three, two, one- sync.:: He nodded in approval as their chronos chimed in time with one another.

The first chapter of my fic for Codywan Reverse Bang 2022 is up!

Chapter 1 - The Beginning

They were born for the Jedi.

They were born to fight, fall, get up, die.

Flesh droids. Fodder on the battlefield. They'd gotten good at hiding. They know what natural born beings think of them. All they have is each other. So they cling and cling tight. Enjoy today, for tomorrow might never come.

Then Cody meets a Jedi. His Jedi.

Maybe, just maybe, the Jedi were made them too.

The first time Obi-wan met Cody, he hadn’t even gotten his name. It wasn’t a friendly meeting at all, which was a shame.

The second time Cody met Obi-wan, he wanted to punch him, just a little.

Wandering scholar of the Je’daii order, Obi-Wan travels the lands with his companion & friendly dragon, Boga. There's a darkness growing in Mandalore and a people with no trust for outsiders that Obi-wan wants to help but first he has to convince Cody to trust him.

Or: 11 times Obi-wan and Cody meet, with varying degrees of success.
