Questions You Need to Answer as a Business Owner/ Start Up Founder

Here’s a list of questions you should be able to answer while preparing for a client call, investor meeting or presentation.

- Have you conducted customer research? What was the outcome?

- What was a lesson you learned along the way?

- How do you develop product strategy?

- Who is your primary customer?

- If most of your business is partnership based; What drop rate are you expecting when your trial/ pilot with these partnerships is over?

- How much risk does your distribution strategy have?

- How easily can your competition replicate you?

- How easy or expensive is it for your customers to switch to your competition instead of you?

- What are some major barriers you’re expecting?

- what KPIs are you expecting from your pilot? Which one are you going to focus deeply on?

- What is your burn rate?

- Talk about your unit economics a little more.

- Are you focused on growth or profitability?

- How can you achieve break even faster?

- What’s your current cap table?

- What will you do if your top line don’t match expectations?

- What is your vision?

If the client who completed the booking form for my main persona actually confirms their appointment and sends their deposit today, then I have a lot of work to do. I need to go get waxed, do my nails, and probably buy some kind of lip stain…?

Before I raised my rate for my main, “high end” persona, I would never wear much makeup. I barely wear makeup as it is but I’m not sure I can get away with wearing nothing on my lips…

Actually, I take that back. There is a provider who has the same branding as me and I’m pretty certain she doesn’t wear lipstick to her appointments (based on her photos).

Okay. I’m not going to stress it. Maybe I’ll just get a Fenty lip gloss and call it a day…

A client just called with a simple and seemingly reasonable complaint: his website is down.

Turns out we took it down because he stopped paying his bills. Multiple attempts to get in contact all failed so we just disabled his website.

Turns out the reason he wasn't paying was because he wasn't receiving invoices anymore... okay fair.. weird but if that happens then it's understandable.

However.... He just changed his email and didn't disable the old one so the emails always marked as delivered. But he didn't inform us of it. Sorry mate but that is not how you dodge a bill. He's not happy about having to pay his outstanding balance before we turn it back on for him.
