Grabbing you by the ears. Disabled people do not have to explain ourselves to other people. If I can’t do it, that’s all the information you need! You’re not entitled to my life or medical information!

when your team of doctors is incompetent at best and uncaring with God complexes at worst while putting you thousands of dollars into debt, so you give up and try to live a normal life, but people won’t stop asking questions about symptoms or hinting that they’re concerned for your safety and potential to cause liability issues without putting their money where their mouth is to help you survive

What did Obama do to your knees?
I mean he didn’t do anything, I was a fool. Sixteen year old me, so filled with hope and idealism, was very excited when he won the 2008 election, because I legitimately did not think he could given how racist this country is (and, to throw my sixteen year old self a bone, just look at how the country reacted to having a Black man as president). I was in a small room when the race was officially called, because I was (predictably) on a computer. I jumped up and down and did a dance, and in the process I tripped over various objects and, upon falling down, dislocated my first knee. Thanks, Obama.
The second knee happened about a year later when I was making a bed. Yay compensating by putting too much pressure on the other knee.

Shoutout to anyone whose disability is invisible and/or never taken seriously.
Shoutout to anyone who feels Too Disabled for general society but Not Disabled Enough to take up space in the community
Shoutout to anyone whose validity is often challenged when they enter "safe spaces" bc they don't meet society's expectations of disability
I'm sorry and hang in there. Your experiences are valid and your disability is real.

Pro Tips from a NaNo Coach: Writing with Chronic Injuries
Tumblr media
NaNoWriMo can seem like a daunting task sometimes, for NaNo newbies and veterans alike. Fortunately, our NaNo Coaches are here to help guide you through November! Today, author Mimi Matthews is here to share her advice on how to set yourself up for noveling success:
Dear Fellow Writers,
In an ideal world, we’d all be starting our manuscripts this November, bright-eyed and clear-headed, limited by nothing but time and the scope of our imaginations. In reality, many of us—myself included—are dealing with physical or mental health issues that impact our productivity. That doesn’t mean we can’t write a novel in a month. It just means we have to prepare a little differently.
I’ve written all of my books while struggling with pain from a cervical spine injury. There’s no secret to it, only a little self-knowledge. Pain is a part of my life I have to manage along with all the rest of my responsibilities. It can be discouraging at times, but it’s never once prevented me from completing a manuscript. With that in mind, here are a few of my personal strategies for starting (and finishing!) a novel.
1. Be prepared.
Before you begin your manuscript, arm yourself with all the implements you’ll need to support pain-free writing. For me, this means a huge collection of neck pillows, ice packs, and a never-ending supply of Aleve. The more supportive I can be of my neck injury, the better success I have in my work.
2. Be flexible.
Get rid of your preconceived ideas about when and where you should write. Instead, write when you can and where you can, in whatever way best supports your health. A story is no less compelling because you wrote it while propped up in bed at 2am instead of sitting at your desk at eight in the morning.
3. Listen to your body.
If writing is hurting you, then stop for a while. Don’t give in to the panic about failing to meet your writing goals. Yes, it’s scary to fall behind, but there’s really no such thing as powering through to reach a daily word count when you’re in pain. You might be able to do it once or twice, but the work always suffers.
4. Write less to write more.
It seems nonsensical, I know, but I’ve found that stopping work for the day when my neck starts to ache is the best way to ensure that I write more later. If I continue working while in pain, it sometimes takes me days or even weeks to recover from the ensuing flareup. Conversely, if I stop for the day, I almost always write double or triple the words at my next writing session.
5. X marks the spot.
I write historical novels, which necessitates a great deal of research. That can mean a lot of stops and starts as I’m writing. I sometimes lose the rhythm of the scene. Even worse, the stress of changing course so often can trigger my pain. To combat this, I use XX to mark things I need to research later. I also use XX in place of character names, locations, or clothing descriptions I haven’t thought up yet. Doing this allows me to get the bones of the story arranged much faster, without those frustrating (and pain triggering) stops and starts.
There’s no one size fits all way to finish a manuscript, especially if you’re struggling with challenges to your physical and mental health. Be mindful of your needs. Be flexible in your habits. And, above all, be kind to yourself. Writing a novel is a huge undertaking at the best of times. A little preparation—and a generous supply of grace and patience with yourself—will make the experience a lot less painful.

No Longer Remembered 11.16.23 “The Rest is Action”
Drape me in fabrics I’ll lurk like the brooding adventurer Forlorn in the corner–of comfort Adjacent to all journeys From any great exertion Must be made a meal as equally great Followed thus by rest, enough To recover Oh bother, to lay and do one difficult task Most drastically taken If I might be mistaken Wreathed in soft, in loft, in clouds Oh laborious, most heinous deed To need And lay in wait, As the predatory hunter we are Letting fuel and energy and all good things recover So we might face new days, another Challenge And once more be draped in linens Slumber and sleep, deep Dream Dream of doing Of not Dream of all that happens before it pops

Let your pleasure engulf you in this latest chapter of my Daddy!Damian Priest and Mommy!Rhea Ripley x transmasc!reader fic, Que Llueva.
Warnings for this section: Mommy/Daddy kink, praise, dirty talk, pain (chronic injury), vibrator, anal, overstimulation, biting, teasing, spit/spitting, nipple play
-
Que Llueva (Part 3 of 4): Come Again (Another Day)
“That’s Mommy’s good boy,” Rhea moved her lips away from yours to whisper the praise in your ear as you let your orgasm gradually replace pain with a small taste of heaven.
“Love that sound,” Damian growled in response to your moan being released into the open air.
“Let’s see if we can make it even better,” your girlfriend suggested before pressing the cool metal of the bullet vibrator against your dick.
The sharp ache in your leg was already creeping up again and the thunder was getting closer in the now-torrential downpour - but neither fact seemed to matter anymore when the vibrator sprung to life.
Still sensitive from having just come, you tried to move away from the intense sensation. Damian’s hold on you - fingers still sliding in and out of your ass slowly - made sure you didn’t get very far.
Your moans become frantic before Rhea pulls you in for another kiss, reducing them to a buzz on her lips as your body trembles. The pleasure inside you builds so quickly, you can no longer control your movements and grip the sheets, the pillow, Rhea’s shirt - anything within reach.
“Relájate, mi amor,” Damian reminded you softly, kissing your back.
You did your best, letting your tense muscles relax slightly - which drove you directly into your next orgasm.
Damian’s fingers, the vibrator Rhea pressed against you, both of their lips - it all sent you deeper into your own pleasure as you let out a string of soft whimpers and moans. Your girlfriend bit your lip at the sounds that escaped between the passionate kisses.
“Muy bien, lindo,” Damian praised you, thrusting once more before sliding his fingers out of your ass, “Feels like you’re ready for Daddy’s dick now.”
“Yes, Daddy,” you whimpered, drifting further into sub space at the thought of your boyfriend deep inside of you.
“There you are,” Rhea said, tapping your aching dick with the vibrator, “Mommy and Daddy’s sweet little lover boy. You’re so cute when you make those noises.”
The praise made a shiver run through you, distracting you from fully registering the familiar sound of a cap popping closed again. Damian teased his head between your cheeks, pressing them together. It wasn’t until then that you realized you had stopped coming at some point, ecstasy overwhelming you once more.
“‘M gonna-!” you cry out, coming hard before you can complete your announcement.
Lost in your bliss, you don’t realize just how much you had been drooling. Your girlfriend made sure to bring it to your attention, cupping your face and dipping her thumb in the small pool of saliva on your pillow before running it across your lips. Pressing a kiss to the pad of her thumb once her hand stopped moving, you smile as you’re given a reprieve from the vibrator.
“Biiiig stretch,” Rhea cooed as she set it aside and started playing with your nipples again.
The statement confused you in your haze, until Damian slid inside you with one smooth motion.
“OhgodDaddy!” you cried out, suddenly taking in more than half his full length.
“Too much?” he asked, the rhythm of his warm breath on your back shifting as he paused.
“Mmm, more please,” you whimpered, making him chuckle. There had been a slight ache at first, but nothing to rival how your leg felt earlier - and you were feeling wonderfully vulnerable in this position.
“You got it,” Damian’s low voice grunted as he pushed the rest of the way in.
“Does that feel good, baby? Yeah?” Rhea asks when you let out an unrestrained moan - then, after you nod, “Who do you love?”
“I love- my Mommy- and Daddy!” you cry out, pausing slightly every time your boyfriend thrusted all the way in. Something about the way the momentum made his balls run into you with a wet slap over and over made thinking nearly impossible as it happened.
“Such a good little boytoy,” your girlfriend praised, pressing her fingers against your dick, “Oh you’re getting close, aren’t you, darling?”
“Yes! Mommy!” the pitch of your voice rising slightly as Damian gradually started thrusting faster, pushing you against her fingertips.
“Let me help you,” Rhea said, pulling her hand away briefly to spit on her fingers.
The moment they made contact with your tip again, she applied pressure while moving her hand side-to-side rapidly. You grabbed her muscular, tattooed arm instinctively as the friction sent you over the edge.
Try as you might to hold on, you’re unable to still her hand as the powerful orgasm rips through you. The flash of lightening outside, shortly accompanied by the loud crack of thunder wasn’t even on your radar as you convulsed and shouted your pleasure. The world could have been crumbling around the three of you and you wouldn’t have noticed.
This was exactly what you needed.

It's sad that my local ER staff know me well enough that they could tell by how I was acting in the triage room that I really fucked it up. They said this was worse than my last shoulder dislocation, and I just thought..... Oh. You remembered. And you remember me well enough to compare my pain level without me bringing it up. You're actually used to seeing my pain scale. 😬 I'm here too much.

It’s known in animal care that dogs, as an example, don’t show their pain and will keep going unless it’s an injury or internal attack that’s bad enough to severely incapacitate them.
A dog at my work is missing half of her adult teeth from them being knocked out while catching tennis balls. Her owner didn’t notice until she saw the blood because the dog kept playing while her teeth and gums were hanging out of her mouth. Her previous dog went on a walk with her before going home and immediately getting into bed and dying without her knowing he had any problems.
Dogs will often eat and drink water up until the moment they die. They will run around after being hit by a car. Those are dogs working on instincts of self preservation and their little understanding of what pain means— that’s how greatly dogs and puppies can handle pain and death.
Now let’s think about the instincts humans have, the way society has conditioned humans, and how humans equate pain to weakness with all of our other societal issues on top and expectations unending.
Do you think a person will drop and howl and whine and cry… or realize that that’s potentially dangerous and not helpful to do, and instead try not to show the severity?
People who know about animals understand that most of them won’t show pain and can run laps with broken bones without anyone noticing, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t in pain and in need of help. When the subject shifts to humans, another mammal, the tone of the conversation changes.

I think physically abled people shouldn't tell physically disabled people not to use/get mobility aids for the possibility of muscle weakness. Chances are, the disabled person already factored that into the decision.
More importantly, there are many times in life when quality of life interferes with health, and you can't maximize both. This is especially true for people using mobility aids. The mobility aid is there for a reason! Disabled people more often want less pain / fall or injury risk than perfect fitness!
Never deny someone the minimum quality of life over health concerns.

In your ‘how I became a paleontologist’ post, you mentioned you have chronically dislocated knees. You’ve probably answered this before, but what does that entail? I’m not too knowledgeable on that sort of thing
Basically, if you dislocate your knee once, it’s much easier to dislocate again. So when I dislocated the first one (long story, but I can legitimately blame Obama), I put more pressure on the second one to compensate, which eventually lead to that one dislocating as well. I still tried to act normal even with the pain, which eventually lead to me dislocating both of them even worse on multiple occasions. One that still haunts my spouse involves a bicycle, a spider, and my crippling arachnophobia. Now I have the fun reality of any movement of the knee hurting from a little to blinding amounts of pain, depending on the day. It’s fun! Thanks Obama!

Please think twice before you tell disabled people things like
"you're capable of doing anything you put your mind to!!!"
"you can do anything with hard work & determination <3"
"nothing is impossible with the right mindset :)"
No amount of rainbows & sunshine will eliminate my disability, thanks.
